Razer Toaster will become reality in the next few years, confirms Liang Tan

Razer is becoming the first company to turn its April Fools’ Joke into reality. The company known for gaming smartphones will lend some time to create a Toaster. At 2016 April Fools’ eve, Razer joked about Project Breadwinner aimed to bring “Razer Toaster” – a gaming grade kitchen appliance. The CEO reportedly challenged the users to get 1 million likes on the “Give us Razer Toaster” page, and then Razer would make the Toaster.

To successfully reach the goal, interested users started Facebook Group which further accelerated the Razer Toaster movement. Surprisingly, users did the best and finally reached 1 million likes on the given page. Now working on his words, Tan confirmed the development of the Razer Toaster in the next few years.

While addressing the fans via Facebook, Liang Tan said, “Alright – I didn’t think these guys were going to make it – but they did. It was to hit 1M likes and with each Razer Toaster tattoo being equivalent to 100K likes each….and they now have 12 Razer Toaster tattoos. Well….what can I say. I’ve just officially liked their page – and I’m going to put together my team of designers and engineers. It will take a few years – but I’ll be sure to share the progress – and make it a community affair”.

Tan misjudged the Razer fans’ potential, and now he has to fulfill his promise. It too early to get pricing, features and specification details of Razer Toaster. Users need to wait for some more time, before the actual product details surface.

Google reportedly forms three separate design teams for future phone designs

Google unveiled the Google Pixel 3 series last year with Snapdragon 845 and well-optimized software. It hosts an impressive camera, a 6.3-inch display, and improved battery life than its predecessor. Despite enhanced specifications, its design is not well received by most of the users. The huge notch is a significant drawback on Pixel 3 XL causing various problems while using the device.

Fewer sales of Pixel 3 XL than the Pixel 2 series reportedly drove Google to think something out of the box. To avoid Pixel 3 XL like design backlash again, Max J from Samsung News reports that the company formed few teams to design for upcoming phones.

The newly formed three teams will independently design future phones. Each of these teams will have no communication with one another, and Google will prefer the best design for production. Google can freely choose the best design out of all the available options.

The new approach will be used while designing the upcoming Pixel 4 and 4 XL. Meanwhile, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are expected to follow Google’s primitive design strategy. The search giant formed the new approach after revealing the Q1 2019’s financial reports, mainly due to the weak demand of Pixel 3 devices.

You should take it as a pinch of salt as Google officially confirms nothing about the new design strategy.

Along with the design, Google also needs to invest in its distribution network. Google is underperforming in terms of availability of Pixel devices, it is available in 12 countries and that too from their online retail store. To excel in the hardware market, Google needs a revamped distribution strategy.

Google is working on affordable Pixel 3a series –  Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Both the devices are expected to carry Snapdragon mid-level chipsets with much RAM. According to rumors, the Pixel 3a series launch will take place on May 8th in India.

When the company was banned from doing business in the US and with the companies based in the US, the company had to cease major operating activities for nearly four months. But, it decided to increase its focus in the R&D for 5G technology.

Coming to the finanacials, the company’s net profit was 863 million yuan for the three-month period ending March compared with a 5.4 billion yuan loss in the same period last year. ZTE‘s first-quarter revenue was 22.2 billion yuan, down 19.3 per cent from the first three months of last year.

The Research & Development costs for the first three months of this year amounted to 3.1 billion yuan, accounting for 13.9 percent of revenue, up compared to a ratio of 9.8 percent for the same period last year.

Hence, it appears that the posters that were swirling on Weibo could be fake.

As it can be seen below, Weibing said, “not called Redmi X, there will be a better name.” While the company has been teasing the Redmi SD855 phone since the past few months, it appears that it may not launch so soon. Some rumors claim that the upcoming Redmi phone with notch-less display and pop-up selfie camera could be fueled by Snapdragon 730. The Redmi SD730 phone is rumored to feature a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel triple camera unit and a battery of 4,000mAh capacity. Redmi X name for Snapdragon 855 Redmi phone appears in poster

Redmi fans are eagerly waiting for the launch of Snapdragon 855 powered Redmi phone. Recently, the Chinese firm had released a video teaser of its upcoming flagship phone. It was revealed at the end of the teaser video that the phone will be arriving with a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie snapper. Fresh rumors that are doing rounds on Weibo suggests that the forthcoming Redmi flagship phone will be releasing in the market with Redmi X moniker. Also, a leaked poster of the phone has also appeared on Weibo.

The first image shows the Redmi X being advertised at some place in China. The black colored handset shown of the left side in the image does not seem to be the Redmi flagship phone because of the “Mi” text on its rear. It is the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone that features a vertical triple camera unit. The image does suggest that the rear design of the Redmi X Snapdragon 855 phone will be quite similar to the Xiaomi Mi 9 phone.

The Redmi X phone shown in the poster has a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera. The positioning of the elevating camera seems to be a bit weird since the official teaser of the phone had revealed that it is placed more towards the left on the top edge of the device. Hence, it appears to be a photoshopped image.

Redmi is yet to confirm the Redmi X moniker for its upcoming Snapdragon 855 SoC powered flagship phone. In January, a listing for the Redmi X phone was found on China’s Jindong Mall online shopping site. Since then, the rumor mill is speculating that one of the upcoming Redmi phones may carry the Redmi X name.

Another leaked poster (shown below) has appeared on Weibo. The text on the poster reads that the company will be announcing the Redmi X “national flagship” phone on May 14 through an unveil event in Beijing, China.

LG V50 ThinQ 5G to finally hit the shelves on May 10

LG V50 ThinQ was expected to debut at the beginning of April alongside the Galaxy S10 5G. But the launch was delayed as the phone was yet to be optimized for perfect user experience. The delay of this LG model, as well as the Samsung 5G model, led to the delay of the rollout of the world’s first 5G network launched in South Korea. While Samsung was still able to release the Galaxy S10 5G in April, LG was not. Now, we finally know when its 5G-enabled flagship will finally hit the shelves. LG V50 ThinQ will be available starting from May 10 and it will come alongside an additional accessory adding a second display to the handset.

LG V50 ThinQ 5G

Despite the upcoming availability of two 5G smartphones in South Korea, it will still be hard for consumers to use 5G networks as local carriers are still in the early stages of building their networks based on the new connectivity standard. But there is nothing to worry about as the coverage will extend a lot in the coming months.

According to the company, due to its dual displays, the LG V50 ThinQ offers a similar feel as a foldable phone and it will be great, especially for gaming. The second display can be used as a controller while the game runs on the primary display. So, its good for gaming and multi-tasking.

The LG V50 ThinQ will be priced at 1,199,000 won that is equivalent to about $1035. It is a very interesting price as the phone is $173 cheaper than the Galaxy S10 5G edition. Coming to the main specs, the V50 sports a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ display, and it is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with a Snapdragon X50 5G modem. It will be offered just in the 6/128 GB memory configuration with expandable storage. On the rear side, it sports a triple camera with an ultrawide sensor and a telephoto lens, while the battery comes with a generous 4000mAh capacity.

According to a popular media site, the Asian giant will release a TV with a 5G chipset and flagship-class specifications, including an 8K display and several smart features. Thanks to such a TV, people would be able to download 360-degree videos, VR content and other heavy video content in a short time, and they won’t even need a local connection, nor cable TV or satellite broadcast services in order to find a lot of content with outstanding quality.

Thanks to the 5G connectivity, the Huawei TV will also behave like a hub for smart home appliances. A 5G TV is definitely a step forward to take on Samsung‘s business which is one of the most important TV manufacturers in the world, as well as its main competitor in the smartphones market. Samsung has already released 8K TVs, but the Korean giant still does not have a 5G-enabled TV in its catalog.
