The Lenovo Z6 Pro is one of the flagships scheduled for release this month. It is also Lenovo‘s first flagship of the year. The phone will come with quad cameras and a feature called “Hyper Video” which Lenovo says will be one of the trends of the 5G era.
Over the past week, we have seen official images that show a part of the phone but today is the first time we are seeing a live photo (and official renders) of the device.
The Lenovo Z6 Pro as seen in the photo is covered in glass that is pretty reflective. There is a streak of red that runs from the top, passes through the cameras and down to the bottom.
The cameras are stacked vertically on the left and all have red rings around them. Three of the sensors are housed together and slightly raised while the fourth is separated. There is also an LED flash flanking the sensors on the right. If you look closely, you can make out the words “Hyper Video” and “48MP AI Quad Camera”.
There are two official renders too. One of them shows the phone has a laser focus module beside the LED flash which is not visible in the live photo. There also seems to be more red streaks which we believe becomes visible depending on the angle light is reflected by the device.
The Lenovo Z6 Pro will have 5G support and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset. The front of the phone is still a mystery but there are rumors it will sport a waterdrop notch and have a screen-to-body ratio higher than 90%.
It looks like the upcoming phone has been spotted on the Master Lu benchmark. The listing of YAL-AL00, believed to be the Honor 20, confirms a few of the specs of the device. First, it is powered by Huawei’s flagship 7nm Kirin 980 processor and will be supported by 8GB of RAM. Further, the resolution is said to be 2340 x 1080p, which confirms its 19.5:9 aspect ratio. If you remember, even the Honor 20i mid-ranger comes with the exact same resolution. Finally, the model scores around 338,924 in the benchmark, which puts it in the high-end category.
Meizu 16s, the China-based company’s upcoming flagship smartphone is scheduled to go official in its home country on 23rd April. Ahead of the phone’s official launch, the company has started taking reservations for the device.
The company has started taking pre-orders and will be available till 23:59 on 22nd April. This hints that the phone could go on sale from 23rd April. The company’s executive had previously said that the company had started mass production of the smartphone in March.
While the company has not revealed any specifications of features of the upcoming smartphone, the device has been leaked quite a few times, revealing all the major specs and features of the smartphone.
As per the leaks, the smartphone will be featuring a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2232 x 1080 pixels but it is expected to come without any kind of a notch on top of the display.
The phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor and will pack 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We expect the phone to have other memory variants as well.
Coming to the camera department, there will be a triple camera setup on the back panel, consisting of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor. On the front side, the phone will be featuring a 20-megapixel snapper.
In a recent Antutu benchmarking score, the device posted a score of 37,4190, making it one of the top performing Android smartphones. Based on the scores, the phone surpassed the Xiaomi Mi 9 and the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Edition.
The smartphone is expected to be running Android 9 Pie operating system with the company’s own Flyme OS 7.3 custom interface on top. The battery is 3540 mAh and can be topped up through the 24W fast charger included in the box.
The Meizu 16s is expected to be available in three colors — White, Black, and Gradient Blue. The rumored pricing of the smartphone is said to be around CNY 3,400 which roughly translates to $505/€450.
Yesterday, Pete Lau shared the first official teaser for the next OnePlus flagship series. Before then, 3D renders of one of the devices initially expected to launch as the OnePlus 7 were already revealed by OnLeaks. The renders showed the phone will have a bezel-less design, triple rear cameras, and a pop-up selfie camera.
Case maker, Olixar, already has a bunch of cases for the phone which will launch as the OnePlus 7 Pro and they provide what can be termed the best look at the upcoming flagship killer.
The cases have various designs depending on your needs. There is a clear case that is tough and doesn’t cover up the phone’s rear design. There is also a leather case with slots for your bank cards and one styled like a leather purse.
Save for the leather purse, all the other cases have a cut-out for the pop-up selfie camera. The case renders show the OnePlus 7 Pro will have its triple rear cameras arranged vertically and positioned in the middle.
There is a cut-out for the alert slider on the right and cut-outs for the USB-C port, speaker grille, and SIM tray at the bottom.

Increasing competition from domestic rivals – JD.com and Alibaba’s Tmall entrenched Amazon in China. The world’s largest e-commerce retailer- Amazon failed to impress Chinese users through its online store. Amazon will cease its online store operations in China by July 18th. It will keep focusing on selling overseas goods and cloud services in the country.
The Chinese e-commerce market majorly relies on domestic players which constitute 82 percent of the total market. Alibaba’s Tmall and JD.com are the biggest online e-commerce portals of China.
The buyers won’t be able to place orders on Amazon China online store. Whereas they can keep enjoying overseas shipments from Amazon’s global stores in the United States, Britain, Germany, and Japan. Within the next 90 days, Amazon.cn will cool off support for all its domestic dealers.
“We are working closely with our sellers to ensure a smooth transition and to continue to deliver the best customer experience possible,” the spokeswoman said in a statement.
The company will keep investing in the country through its Global Stores, Global Selling, Kindle-e-readers, and other online content. Amazon Web Services and other businesses will remain unaffected with the Amazon.cn shutdown.
The sudden announcement from Amazon, made shares of Alibaba and JD.com rose 1 percent.
The multinational companies are facing stiff competition from Chinese retailers. In 2016, Walmart sold its entire online shopping platform to JD.com in China. On the other hand, Xiaomi and Huawei are trending with the increasing shares in the electronics market. Google, Netflix, Facebook, Google all are struggling to get into China’s increasing economy to reap some benefits.
Samsung recently unveiled its most anticipated and futuristic smartphone — Samsung Galaxy Fold, the South Korean giant’s first foldable smartphone. The phone, which is slated to go on sale later this month, has already been offered to a few reviewers and it seems that the build quality is highly questionable.
Several reviewers have complained that their unit broke down after just a few days of usage. Mark Gurman, a reviewer from Bloomberg said that his unit completely broke down and is unusable after just two days while Dieter Bohn from The Verge called out a “small bulge” on a defective hinge. CNBC’s Steve Kovach also twweeted about the display on his review unit which has started flickering.
Mark Gurman said that the display of his Galaxy Fold busted after he took off a “protective layer/film”. YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) also encountered a similar issue after he removed the film. Well, as it turns out, it’s not a protective film and the company says that it shouldn’t be removed.
In response to all this, Samsung released a statement and said that it “will thoroughly inspect these units in person to determine the cause of the matter.” Below is the full statement from the company.
As for the specifications, when open, the Galaxy Fold smartphone presents a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display with a 1536 x 2152 resolution. In this mode, you can use three apps at the same time which Samsung calls Three-app Multitasking.
When folded into phone mode, it offers a 4.6-inch 840 x 1960 display. It comes with a feature called App Continuity which automatically adjust an app when you switch screens. It is powered by a 7nm processor paired with 12GB of RAM.
For the first time in a smartphone, it comes with UFS 3.0 storage with a 512GB capacity. Samsung says there are six cameras – three on the back (when folded in phone mode), one in front (also in phone mode), and two inside (in tablet mode). The camera module is made up of a 16MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, and another 12MP wide-angle camera. The selfie camera is a 10MP sensor.
It runs the latest Samsung One UI with Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box. The phone packs a 4,380mAh battery which is split into two units. With a starting price of $1,980, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is set to be available for purchase from 26th April. Even after these issues, there’s reportedly no impact on the phone’s availability next week.
Xiaomi keeps surprising with the new products and models throughout the year. Along with smartphones, the company also brings various other daily home usage products involving smart TVs. Continuous improvements and increased efforts from Xiaomi has significantly increased its share in the smart TV market. China’s most popular TV brand is set to unveil new Mi TV in China on April 23.
According to a new poster on the Xiaomi’s official Weibo handle, the new Mi TV will come with improved rear design and better remote control. Xiaomi is focusing on bringing a full design overhaul, and will equally focus on the front and back of Mi TV. New design aesthetics will improve the overall quality of Xiaomi Mi TV.
In 2013, Xiaomi introduced a minimalist Remote Control featuring few buttons. Users applauded the new innovative design and functionality of the remote control featuring Voice recognition services. This time, Xiaomi is aggressively working to further improve the remote by endeavoring it with some new features.
Experts believe Xiaomi Mi TV will no longer use the remote control, and voice recognition will control every aspect of the device. Though it feels quite absurd at this time, we hope Xiaomi to bring something more innovative to make remote control more intuitive.
It is quite difficult to guess about improvements coming to the new Mi TV. We have to wait for its official launch on April 23 before speculating anything.
Although quite late, keeping its promise, OnePlus has now started rolling out Android 9 Pie beta update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. This will be the third major Android release for the OnePlus 3-series smartphones.
Launched in 2016, OnePlus 3 and 3T were launched running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system out-of-the-box. In 2017, the devices received Android 7 Nougat update and further received Android Oreo update last year.
The new development comes as the China-based company has already guaranteed Android security updates for the phones till November 2019.
As the newly released update is the first beta update, you’ll need to install the Community Beta build manually by downloading the OTA ROM for the OnePlus 3 or the ROM for the OnePlus 3T. To install the update, place the downloaded file in the internal storage root folder and Open Settings -> System update -> Click top right setting icon and Choose Local update to update.
Further, the company has said that the phone’s boot loader should be locked before installing the ROM. It added that those who download the Community Beta build will get OTA update when the stable build is released. Those who are on the Open Beta will have to update the phone using the recovery, which will wipe the device’s data.
While the stable version release date is not yet known, we are expecting the company to start rolling out Android Pie stable version for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T before the launch of its OnePlus 7 series smartphones next month.

Chinese tech companies have been accused of many things in recent times, one of which is intellectual property theft. Recently, it was reported that some persons suspected to Chinese nationals stole software from Dutch chip manufacturer ASML. In no distant time, the news was carried by Dutch newspaper Financieele Dagblad. Some local politicians even suggested that it might be state-sponsored espionage. All that has changed as ASML CEO Peter Wennink has finally revealed who they discovered was responsible for the intellectual property theft.
In an interview on Dutch television, the CEO refuted the earlier rumour that China was responsible. Wennink instead reportedly disclosed that the heist was carried out by its biggest Korean customer. That happens to be Samsung even though the CEO left off short of mentioning the name of the company, even when prodded by the interviewer. Wennink also hinted that the company was able to reach that damning conclusion through the aid of an external independent investigator to unravel who was behind the theft. This rules the espionage as ordinary business espionage and not state espionage.
The theft was apparently executed by former Chinese employees of the chip giant who stole the software to set up their own company named Xtal based in the US. The company was aimed at taken on ASML and to provide Samsung with a cheaper alternative. Samsung allegedly holds a 30% share in the startup. The software in question is a vital tool for setting up chip machines for optimum production of electronic chips.
An official statement from Samsung sent via e-mail to LetsGoDigital read; “Samsung makes it a top priority to protect and respect the intellectual property rights of others. We are deeply disappointed at media reports that had widely assumed or even suggested of Samsung’s involvement in any wrongdoing against ASML, which are not true. While we cannot disclose details of our business deals, Samsung had made precautions so as to adhere to all laws and regulations with its development contract with Xtal, including a clause that specifically prohibits the illegal use of 3rd-party IPs. All products that have resulted from our partnership with Xtal do not interfere with ASML’s IPs. We would also like to clarify that, unlike media reports, our partnership with ASML has remained strong without discontinuation”.
