Since the past few days, Lenovo has been consistently teasing on the features of the Lenovo Z5s that will be going official on Dec. 17. Earlier today, Lenovo Group VP Chang Cheng shared new information on the Lenovo Z5s smartphone. The Chinese text on the new teaser suggest that the phone could be equipped more than 8 GB of RAM. Hence, netizens are now speculating whether the Lenovo Z5s will be featuring 10 GB of RAM.

The below teaser which hints 10 GB of RAM for the Lenovo Z5s has an image of Formula 1 racing car. This indicates that the smartphone will deliver speedy performance. Rumors have claimed that like the Lenovo Z5 Pro, the upcoming Lenovo Z5s will be also featuring Snapdragon 710. However, using 10 GB of RAM with Snapdragon 710 does not sound like a powerful combination. Hence, it is now speculated that the Lenovo Z5s could be powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset. The Lenovo Z5s is equipped with a triple camera setup on the rear. However, the exact configurations of the triple sensors are still under the wraps. The new display design will allow the smartphone to offer a very impressive screen-to-body ratio.

The Lenovo Z5s handset measures 156.7 x 74.5 x 7.8mm and it is equipped with a 6.3-inch display that supports Full HD+ resolution. It includes a 3,210mh battery. The rear side of the smartphone is equipped with a fingerprint scanner. The appearance of its triple camera module resembles with Huawei P20 Pro’s triple camera unit. It will be running n ZUI flavored Android 9 Pie OS. The rest of the specifications of the smartphone are yet to appear on TENAA.

HTC U12+ completely vanished from official website and stores in China

HTC is already struggling to find someplace in today’s market, even it is reeling under bad financial conditions. The Taiwanese giant seems to have pulled down its latest flagship HTC U12+ from the Chinese store. Not only on the official self-operated online store, even from the Tmall it has been taken down. HTC’s official Chinese website is showing HTC U 11 and U11+ as in stock while its successor has been labelled as “out of stock”. Currently, the reason is unknown and we are expecting an official response from the HTC side on the whole scenario.

Well, it can be some technical glitch or some other problem due to which HTC might be unable to cater HTC U12+ to buyers. Although we can only speculate right now, we have to wait for the official response from the HTC side.

Additionally, HTC U12+ carries Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 on board with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM coupled with 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. It is IP68 waterproof and dustproof with built-in 3500 mAh battery. In order to charge this huge battery module, HTC has added a fast charging QC 3.0 with the rear fingerprint sensor. It even supports facial recognition and other authentication methods.

In the camera section, HTC U12+ hosts a 12 megapixel + 16-megapixel dual rear camera. Out of these dual shooters, there’s a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera along with the 16-megapixel telephoto lens.

HTC U12+ is also known for its intuitive UI which is based on Edge Sense 2.0. It carries a variety of gestures and other useful features which makes it different from other UIs. Even though its Edge launcher offers a lot of impressive features. It carries smart sleep, smart steering and other grip gestures.

Xiaomi Mijia Photo Printer scheduled to launch in China on 19th December

Xiaomi is more than just a smartphone brand has is now making all sorts of lifestyle products. Expanding its portfolio of offerings, the company has today announced that it will launch Xiaomi Mijia Photo Printer on 19th December in China.

In the image released by the company, we can see that the small-sized printer features the same form-factor as the regular printers. However, just like other consumer electronics products from Xioami, this one too features a minimal design.

On the top part, it comes with just a single button for turning the printer ON/OFF. There’s also an indicator that shows the Wi-Fi connectivity of the printer. On the right side, there’s a cartridge compartment.

While nothing more related to the upcoming Xiaomi Mijia Photo Printer in known, it seems that the printer will support printing photos of up to 6-inch. The IoT-powered printer’s built-in printing mode is expected to include ID Card, Polaroid Mode, Postcard Mode, among others.

This won’t be the first printer from Xioami as the Chinese company had launched the Xiaomi XPRINT Pocket AR Photo Printer earlier this year in February. Priced at 399 Yuan (approximately $58), it prints 54 x 86 mm photos with a 291 x 294 resolution.

Asus, the Taiwanese manufacturer, has announced that its longtime CEO Jerry Shen is resigning, which takes effect from 1st January 2019. He has been the head of the company for the past 11 years. He will be replaced by two acting CEOs — PC business lead S.Y. Hsu and global customer service lead Samson Hu.

Along with the resignation of Jerry Shen, the company also announced that it will be revamping its mobile business strategy going forward. The company said that moving forward, it will put more emphasis on gaming industry products and devices for power users.

This could mean that the company will be shifting its focus from the Zenfone lineup, which helped the company establish its presence in the budget smartphone segment. However, it’s noteworthy that the company has not made any official announcement in regards to the Zenfone lineup.

The emphasis on gamers and power users is the result of the company’s focus on the high profit, high return professional and e-sports mobile game market. Also, Asus is primarily known as a PC and gaming products company, so it makes sense for the company to focus more on making gaming phones.

Honor 8A images appear on TENAA

An Honor phone with model variants JAT-AL00 and JAT-TL00 had surfaced on the database of China’s TENAA telecom authority yesterday. The images of the phone had not appeared on TENAA yesterday. However, the JAT-AL00 and JAT-TL00 TENAA listings have been updated with their images to confirm on their design. Also, the handset is now expected to debut as Honor 8A in China.

In October this year, a smartphone with model number JAT-L29 had appeared with Honor 8A moniker on JAT-AL00 and JAT-TL00 in the website of Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The same body has also certified JAT-LX1 model as Honor 8A Pro.

The Honor 7A had debuted in April in China and it had launched with the same name in markets outside of the home country. Hence, the Honor 8 may arrive with same name in China and Europe.

The Honor 7A came with an 18:9 aspect ratio display, a fingerprint scanner and dual rear cameras. The Honor JAT-AL00 and JAT-TL00 images on TENAA reveals, that the Honor 8A will be equipped with an improved display with waterdrop. However, it features a single rear camera and lacks a dual camera setup. Just as the European market is expected to release Honor 8A Pro, probably there will be a Pro variant with dual camera and fingerprint for China.

Realme to soon expand its operations to Pakistan

Realme, which started off as an online-only sub-brand of Oppo for the Indian market, focusing on offering value-for-money budget smartphones. Later, the brand was split from its parent company to work as an independent firm, which is being headed by Sky Li, former Vice President of Oppo.

While the company started its operations from India, it has been steadily expanding its geographical presence and is currently present in six countries, including Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Phillippines. Now, the company is all set to expand operations to the seventh country, Pakistan.

The announcement regarding Realme’s arrival in Pakistan was made through the official account of Realme Pakistan on Facebook. While there’s nothing much known about the company’s plan in Pakistan, it’s known that the phones will be available for purchase through online as well as offline stores.

So far, Realme has launched five smartphones, which include Realme 1, 2, 2 Pro, C1, and the latest Realme U1. The company has not yet revealed which phones will be launched in Pakistan, but we expect the company to introduce its recently launched devices, including U1, Realme 2, 2 Pro, and the entry-level C1.

In India, Realme U1 is the company’s latest smartphone and the first one under its new U-series focused towards the selfie-loving users. The phone is also the world’s first to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 octa-core processor which features Cortex-A73 and Cortex A53 cores in the same 4+4 arrangement, coupled with ARM Mali-G72 GPU.

A recent leak had reveled the entire specifications of the upcoming Huawei Nova 4 that will be officially announced on Dec. 17. The predecessor Nova 3 handset came with a notched display design to offer high screen space. The Nova 4 will be offering even higher screen space since it will be featuring a notch-less display with a small round-shaped cutout for the selfie camera. The handset will be available in four color options such as Fritillaria White, Suyin Blue. Honey Red and Bright Black. Freshly leaked renders of the Huawei Nova 4 have surfaced to confirm on the color variants and to reveal its front and rear design.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 gets launched in Taiwan priced at NT$14,999 ($486)

Xiaomi held a conference in Taiwan and during the event, the company took the wraps off the flagship Mi Mix 3 for the Taiwanese market. The launch will avail fans of the brand in the local market the opportunity to get the 6GB+128GB version which is the only one launched. Interestingly, the model comes with a rather affordable price tag of NT$14,999 (~$486).

The Mi Mix 3 is a 6.39-inch device with a display aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and screen ratio of about 93.4%. The high screen ratio, the biggest on any Xiaomi phone was made possible as a result the lack of a selfie camera at the front. Instead, the device utilises a sliding design. The Mi Mix 3 slider has been proved to be an advanced technology and one which won’t fail anytime soon. A tech geek claimed to have subjected the slider to up to 600,000 times without any hassle. Xiaomi on its part claims the slider has a service lifespan of 300,000 slides.

The Mi Mix 3 has at its heart a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and as stated, Taiwan gets only the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version, at least for now. Other specs include a 32oomAh battery, a 12MP+12MP dual rear camera setup as well as a 24MP+2MP dual camera. The device will go on sale on December 22.

Apart from the M Mix 3, Xiaomi also launched the Mi AI speaker, MIJIA induction cook and the Zhiwu cooking pot for the Taiwanese market.

Huami’s new update adds skipping rope mode and transport card support for Zhengzhou city in China

Xiaomi‘s partner Huami has announced a new software update for its smart wearables which will usher in a couple of new features. The update is version 3.0.12.0 and it brings a new skipping rope feature under the sports mode. The update also adds a new dial-style watch face known as “Mechanical Metal”. In addition, for users in China, the update brings support for Zhengzhou Green City transport card which can be used right away. Huami also says the wearing detection algorithm is optimized to improve the accuracy of identifying the wearing state.

The new skipping exercise mode, as the name implies, will come in handy during skipping exercise by keeping count of the number of swings the user makes. The user can then set targets and as usual, the smartwatch notifies them when the target is met. This is an additional mode to the 11 sports mode that is available on the latest Amazfit Verge smartwatch.

The bus card support for Zhengzhou city is definitely exclusive to the Amazfit Verge which as launched this year with NFC. The Verge could be seen as Huami’s first complete smartwatch as it is not sports-centric like the Pace and Stratos. Already, the smartwatch supports the transport cards of up to 165 cities in China covering over 20,000 public transport routes. The Zhengzhou city transport card makes it 166 cities.

Leaked Huawei Nova 4 official renders reveal 4 color variants and confirm triple rear cameras

The Huawei Nova 4’s launch is still a few days away but a new leak gives us a closer look at the phone and also reveals some new details. The leak is a set of press renders of the phone in all the color variants it will be available in.

The Nova 4 will be the first Huawei-branded device to come with a hole-in-display panel a.k.a punch hole selfie camera similar to the Galaxy A8s and the Honor V20. The press renders show off the color variants of the phone.

The Nova 4 will come in classic black, gradient red, gradient blue, and a gradient white variant similar to the Honor 10 GT Lily White. All variants have black bezels.

Design

With these devices, Vivo, Xiaomi and Samsung adopted three different solutions to get rid of the notch and thick bezels. Vivo NEX Dual Display opts for a dual display which makes people use the rear camera setup as a camera for selfies too, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has a slider design with cameras and sensors all included in a pop-up slider, and Samsung Galaxy A8s features a hole in the display for the front camera. There is not a solution which can be defined better than each other, but I would personally go for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 because of its better materials: 7000 series aluminum for the frame and ceramic for the back.

Display

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has probably the best display when it comes to viewing quality, but Vivo NEX Dual Display has two displays and that is why I would choose it. The secondary display allows for a better power saving as well as a more comfortable one-handed use. Samsung Galaxy A8s has the most disappointing display, it is the only last-gen smartphone from the Galaxy A series to sport a classic IPS panel instead of a Super AMOLED one.

Hardware/Software

Under the hood, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is a true flagship with the most powerful components, at least in its most expensive version. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, up to 10 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Vivo NEX Dual Display has exactly the same hardware except for the internal storage which is 128 GB, while Samsung Galaxy A8s is just an upper-midrange device with its Snapdragon 710, but it is the only one to sport a micro SD slot to expand the internal storage. All these devices come with custom user interfaces based on Android Pie out of the box.

Camera

Unfortunately, we still had no chance to test the cameras of Samsung Galaxy A8s and Vivo NEX Dual Display, so we can not give any verdict about their camera department. But we know that Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is among the best camera phones out there even though it does not have a triple camera like its opponents. So it will be very hard to beat. Further, it has an impressive dual camera for selfies.

Battery

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has a too small battery which disappointed us in some scenarios. 3200 mAh is not enough for a flagship released in the second half of 2018 (unless it comes from Sony). Vivo NEX Dual Display has 3500 mAh and on the paper, it should provide the longest battery life thanks to its smaller secondary display with a low energy consumption. But Samsung Galaxy A8s always optimizes its midranges’ batteries very well, so it may even be that it will last more than its rival from Vivo if the company did a particularly good job.

Price

You can get a unit of Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 globally for just €560, Vivo NEX Dual Display costs $720 in China, while we still do not know the price tag of Samsung Galaxy A8s. With the actual information, Vivo NEX Dual Display is the most convincing handset, but we still have to test it and evaluate Galaxy A8s’ value for money to give a final judgment. Which one would you pick basing on the specs on the paper?

Vivo Y83 Pro receives yet another price cut in India, now available for Rs. 13,990 ($196)

Vivo Y83 Pro smartphone was originally launched in India in August earlier this year for a price of Rs. 15,990 (approximately $224). Last month, the company received Rs. 1,000 price cut, bringing down the phone’s retail price to Rs. 14,990 (~$210).

Now, the Vivo Y83 Pro has received yet another price cut of Rs. 1,000 (~$14) and the phone is now available for purchase in India for Rs. 13,990 which roughly converts to $196. The phone is available at the updated pricing through offline stores but online stores — Amazon and Flipkart — still shows the older pricing, but we expect them to update the pricing in a couple of days.

The Vivo Y83 Pro features a 6.2–inch HD+ FullView 2.0 IPS display with screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio with a notch on top of the display. Under the hood, the device is powered by Mediatek‘s Helio P22 octa-core processor.

The device packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot which enables users to further expand the storage capacity of the device up to 256GB.

In the camera department, the handset sports a dual rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front side, the phone comes with an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and an AI Face beauty feature.

The phone has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security. On the software front, the device is running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box and is powered by a 3,260mAh battery.
