Report emerging from Samsung‘s home country, South Korea indicate that the tech giant has commenced mass production of Infinity-O displays that is rumoured to feature on next year’s Galaxy S10 for the first time. The infinity-O displays are OLED screens which would have a hole at the front that would house the selfie camera.
According to the report by ETNews, Samsung has upgraded its existing manufacturing facilities to accommodate the production of the new displays. Although Samsung is yet to confirm if the display panel will be used on the Galaxy S10, the timing of the factory upgrade suggests the display could be ready for the S10 that is expected to be announced around March next year.
Samsung’s Infinity-O display is expected to herald a new vista in full-screen phone designs. The design will allow Samsung to increase the screen-to-body ratio of its phone without the notch or using a slider design. It seems to look similar t the water drop notch but this time, it is not a notch, rather it is an O-shaped opening for the camera on the display. It is just possible that the device will only house a single camera at the front but there are rumours the Galaxy S10 will pack a dual selfie setup. This throws up the possibility of the Infinity-O screen being used on the model with a single front camera.

While MediaTek’s recent new mobile chipsets – the Helio P70, Helio P60 – were received well in the mobile industry, current data paints a not so rosy picture of the previous months for the chip maker. As per studies, MediaTek revenues in October actually fell by 9.8 percent as compared to September, a decrease of 0.84 percent Y-o-Y. Furthermore, most of 2018, while not being a complete flop, also hasn’t earned the company anymore. In fact, revenue was down by a very slight 0.4 percent.
MediaTek’s projection this year was to achieve a targeted 10 percent increase in shipments. However, even with a better response to the MediaTek Helio P70 from brands like Xiaomi and OPPO, the company’s order book still lies at 1 to 110 million chips which is the same as the last quarter of 2018. The current situation was not helped by the fact that smartphone shipments shrank in the same quarter. It is even compounded by the risk that some of their orders might get canceled next year.
On the other hand, Qualcomm’s presence in the mid-range chipset category was augmented with the announcement of the new Snapdragon 7xx series this year which was in competition with the Helio P70. Furthermore, MediaTek’s decision to withdraw from the high-end chip segment has also left the arena open for Qualcomm. This factor will, inevitably, come into play, even more, when 5G is introduced as expectations are that the US-based chip manufacturer will be the major supplier even as MediaTek will start mass-producing its own Helio M70 SoC by next month.
Recent rumors have claimed that the Nokia X7 notched display smartphone that was recently announced in China would be arriving in India as the Nokia 8.1 smartphone. HMD Global has recently released a new teaser which hints that India may soon receive a new smartphone. It is speculated that it could be the Nokia 8.1 phone.
The teaser that lasts only for nine seconds doesn’t reveal the handset, but only showcases red roses. The silhouette of a notched smartphone appears halfway through the short clip to focus more on the inner red roses. It appears that the teaser could be hinting on the HDR function of the mysterious phone.
The Nokia X7 is the first smartphone from the Finnish brand with HDR display. The above tweet could be also hinting the Night Red variant of the smartphone.
There is a possibility that the phone may get unveiled first in India as Nokia 8.1 (or Nokia 7.1 Plus) and it may also appear at the Dubai event on Dec. 5. According to 91 Mobiles, the Nokia 8.1 smartphone will go official on Nov. 28 with a price tag of Rs. 23,999 (~$340) for its variant that features 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
The Nokia X7 is also the first Nokia phone to be powered by Snapdragon 710 chipset. It features a big display of 6.18 inches that supports Full HD+ resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. It comes preinstalled with Android 9 Pie OS.
The notch of the Nokia X7 houses a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The ZEISS branded 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual camera setup resides on the backside of the phone. The 3,050mAh battery of the Nokia X7 supports 18W fast charging. Other features of the smartphone include rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and microSD card slot.
In China, the 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage base variant of the Nokia X7 is priced at 1,699 Yuan (~$245) whereas the 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage costs 1,999 Yuan (~$283). The highest model of the Nokia X7 has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and it costs 2,499 Yuan (~$360).
Infinix Mobility, a Hong Kong-based smartphone manufacturer has today launched a new smartphone in the Indian market — Infinix Note 5 Stylus. As the name suggests, the phone comes with stylus support that enables users to jot down notes, sketch doodles, edit screenshot images, and more.
The Infinix Note 5 Stylus is priced at Rs. 15,999 which roughly converts to $227. It will be available in Bordeaux Red and Charcoal Blue colors and will go on sale in India from 4th December.
The phone features a 5.93-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display with 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It offers 500 nits peak brightness and 85 percent NTSC color gamut coverage. Under the hood, the device is powered by MediaTek‘s MT6763 Helio P23 16nm octa-core processor, which is clocked at 2.0GHz and paired with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU.
The phone packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot that enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB. It also comes with XPen stylus that offers 4096 level pressure sensitivity and comes with a fine tip for high accuracy. It can be used to create notes, write memos, view files, paint, and even create smart screenshots.
Coming to the camera department, the smartphone comes equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 1.12um pixel size. It offers a few AI-powered features like Auto Scene Detection and a portrait mode. On the front side, the phone features a 16-megapixel AO camera 1.0um pixel size and f/2.0 aperture. It comes with intelligent pixel technology that enables high-quality selfies in all lighting conditions.
As for the connectivity options, the phone supports Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou. Being a part of Google‘s Android One programme, the phone runs the stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box. The phone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that is claimed to offer up to 32 days of standby time and 20 hours of talk time.
The Mi 8 SE is one of the numerous Mi 8 phones released by Xiaomi this year. It is an upper mid-range phone with a Snapdragon 710 processor and a notched display.
When it launched, it ran MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and even after receiving the MIUI 10 update, its Android version didn’t change. Xiaomi is still gradually rolling out Android Pie to its phones and the Mi 8 SE is scheduled to get a beta version this quarter.
However, Android 9.0 Pie may not be the last major OS update for the phone as a version of the Mi 8 SE running Android Q has been seen on Geekbench.
This is definitely a very early test device as Android Q will not get a beta version until Q2 next year after it must have been unveiled at Google I/O 2019. Nevertheless, it is pretty exciting to know that the Mi 8 SE is in line to get the next version of Android.
One of the confirmed features we know Android Q will bring is an upgraded split-screen multitasking feature where both apps running in split-screen are active instead of one being inactive.
Some publications already refer to it as the Lenovo P20 Pro because of its similar design to the Huawei P20 Pro which also has the same rear design. However, Lenovo’s VP, Chang Cheng, has revealed that the phone is actually the Lenovo Z5s and not the Lenovo P20 Pro.
The Lenovo Z5s not only has triple rear cameras but also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 6.3-inch screen with a water-drop notch and a 3210mAh battery. Seeing as the Lenovo Z5 Pro isn’t a flagship, there is a possibility the Z5s will also not be a flagship but an upper mid-range phone.
At the end of October, Nubia had launched the Nubia X dual screen smartphone. It features a bezel-less screen on the front and its rear shell is also equipped with a secondary screen. Fresh information shared a leakster from China reveals that Vivo is working on a dual screen phone. He has also claimed that it will belong to the NEX series of smartphones from the company. Through another Weibo post, the same leakster has shared the front and rear images of the alleged phone.
According to the leakster, the smartphone is internally dubbed as “more than one side of the future” and “extraordinary dual screen.” Since the tipster claims that it is equipped with Snapdragon 845, it does not sound like a successor for the original Vivo NEX which is also powered by the same SoC.
Like the Vivo NEX, the upcoming NEX phone from the company is expected to feature a 6.4-inch notch-less OLED screen on the front. It is expected to carry support for Full HD+ resolution.
The back panel of the phone could be fitted with an OLED screen. However, its exact size is not known. The smartphone will carry support for 22.5W fast charging, but there is no information on its battery size. The tipster has added that even though the rumored Vivo NEX phone is expected to sport a design similar to the Nubia X, it will be offering a higher screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone is speculated to go official in December. Apart from the aforementioned details, the leakster did not reveal any information on its other specs.
The images shared by the tipster reveals that the mysterious Vivo phone will be equipped with an amazing bezel-less display on the front that will offer an impressive screen space. The backside of the phone features a smaller display with Vivo branding below it. Above the secondary display is an LED flash followed by horizontal dual cameras setup and what appears to a laser autofocus module.
The Nubia X does not feature a front-facing camera, but the 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel dual camera setup can be used for snapping selfies by using the secondary display as viewfinder. Probably, the rumored Vivo NEX may feature a mechanical pop-up selfie shooter like the original Vivo NEX smartphone. However, the pop-up camera cannot be seen in the leaked images.
Since two displays on a single smartphone can strain the eyes of the user, the Nubia X is equipped with a dedicated that promotes for healthy eye habits. The mysterious Vivo phone with dual screens may offer such kind of feature to protect the eyes of its users.
It is advisable to digest the report with grain of salt since the authenticity of the above leaks could not be verified. Do you think that a dual screen technology is a great design for a smartphone? Share us your views by posting your comments below.
Following some lucrative offers and the ongoing trend of moving away from the hustling and bustling cities in China, Xiaomi is also moving to a Tier-2 city, Wuhan. Xiaomi has started to build new headquarters in central China’s Hubei province. The Chinese electronics maker is not the only one, that is moving away from big cities, even Huawei and other major companies are following the same trend.
Talking particularly about Xiaomi, then various reasons have made the company to choose Wuhan as their favorite city for new headquarters. Xiaomi will be building R&D center due to the presence of various reputable universities in the region. The new headquarter will be built to accommodate 10,000 employees at the campus. Its new campus will focus purely on AI technology.
Speaking at the occasion, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun said, “Wuhan is perfect for an R&D center because it’s conveniently located at central China and has rich talent pool thanks to reputable universities located in the region. With plans to construct a headquarter with up to 10,000 staff, Xiaomi wants to build Wuhan as the new hub in the AI era.”
Xiaomi has not sprawled up the idea within just a few days, Xiaomi is in talks and is preparing for it since past couple of years. In 2017, Xiaomi came into strategic partnership with Wuhan local governing body. At that time, they opened up offices in the Optics Valley in the Wuhan city. As per recent stats, a total of 800 employees are working on the same campus in Wuhan.
Now, a full-fledged, whole new Xiaomi headquarters are in works and is expected to complete in the next 2-3 years. After completion, Xiaomi will start pushing its employees to new headquarters with the same pay-grade and other incentives. Even, Xiaomi will offer 30000 yuan relocation bonus and will also help them to get local home. Xiaomi will help employees to fully settle in the new city without any issue.
Even though, Xiaomi is building up a whole new team to get new talent out of the local universities.
It’s not for the first time that any company in China is migrating to other cities. Even though, Huawei made similar decisions to relocate from Shenzhen to Guangdong. Alibaba is also building a new regional headquarters in Xi’an and Nanjing. It is a productive step from companies to cut high operational costs in big cities. Even tier-2 towns in China are offering various perks and cuts for companies moving in their boundaries.
What do you think about the new trend? Is it beneficial for companies?

There are plenty of news stories based on rumors, reports, teasers, and leaks touting about Nokia 9 Pureview launch on December 5. Now, it seems the plans have been shifted to launch Nokia 9 Pureview by the end of this month. As revealed by Nokia community (@nokiamobileru) on Twitter, the new device launch has been postponed due to unknown reasons. The decision to delay the launch is made by its chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas.
If we believe the tweet from an official source, then it contradicts the official teasers reporting its launch on December 5th in Dubai. Well, the real reason behind the delay is unknown, but it could be some technical glitch or some software issue related to its new camera system. There can be any reason, but you need not to wait for so long, as Nokia has confirmed that they will launch by the end of this year. Here’s what @nokiamobileru tweeted:
Add that the postponement of the announcement of the Nokia 9 – individual decision Juho Sarvikas @sarvikas.
But the flagship was supposed to be on the shelves of your stores in December… #nokia9#hmd#nokiamobile
It’s quite bad news for those who were anxiously waiting for the Nokia 9 Pureview. Still, we hope, Nokia will come up with the new device before the given time, as like they did for Nokia 9.
Additionally, as per the reports and leaks, Nokia 9 Pureview is expected to be available with dual glass design on both sides of the device. It’s borders rumored to be engraved with a metal frame. Nokia 9 has been leaked with specs such as wireless charging, Android 9 Pie, and a huge battery.
Concerning hardware specs, it will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 on board coupled with 8 GB RAM, 128GB storage. It will host a 5.9-inch display having an aspect ratio of 18:9. Unsurprisingly, Nokia 9 Pureview will not have any 3.5 mm headphone jack and will carry 4150 mAh battery along with water and dustproof ratings.
Many photography enthusiasts are also waiting for this device as it carries Pureview five-camera setup. It’s a high-end device, and we expect Nokia to price it accordingly to get most out of sales.

Huawei has released a new poster on its Weibo account to confirm that it will be launching a new smartphone in the coming month. The name of the smartphone is not mentioned on the poster. However, since the company had released the Huawei Nova 2S phone in December last year, it is speculated that the Nova 3S could be arriving as its successor in the coming month.
The below shown poster only highlights the contour of the smartphone. Probably, just as the Nova 2S was in December 2017, the Nova 3S could be arriving in the coming month. The Nova 3S could be powered by Kirin 970 chipset like the Nova 3, but it could be arriving with a better display design. The Nova 3 sported a wider notch on its screen. Hence, the Nova 3S could be equipped with a waterdrop notch. Since the phone is slated to get official next month, Huawei is expected to release more teasers on it in the coming days.
