HTC’s new budget smartphone with Snapdragon 435 hits WiFi Alliance

HTC is finding it hard to survive in the high-end smartphone market as many Chinese manufacturers are eating its chunk by giving more advanced features. Now, it seems HTC is testing some other alternatives as a budget smartphone from the Taiwanese company has surfaced at WiFi Alliance. Last week, a new budget device model numbered HTC 2Q72XXX with Snapdragon 435 received Bluetooth certification, and now the same has hit WiFi Alliance.

HTC’s new budget smartphone will be certified for the 2.4 GHz b/g/n bands. It is expected to run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Further, WIFi certification found that it runs on the Snapdragon 435 Soc with the octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz.

htc wifi alliance

A device bearing the same model number and specs has appeared on Geekbench a month ago, and if we correlate than it will come with 3 GB RAM. It scored 684 points on a single core test and hits 2585 with multi-core test.

Currently, no other detail has surfaced, even though HTC has not confirmed anything about it. At the moment there is relatively little known about the unannounced HTC smartphone. The smartphone will be unveiled this year, but it is also possible that it will be here in early 2019.

Now, HTC should price it somewhat similar to the devices present in the market. Otherwise, there are chances that it might not get much attention. We are looking for some more information about it and will let you guys know if any advancement happens.

In a new announcement made by Honor on official Weibo Handle, revealed that Honor 10 Lite edition would be made official on November 21st in Beijing, China. It’s another variant of Honor 10 which was launched earlier this year. There was speculation that Honor might announce Honor 10 Lite or 10i version, but now it is clear that they are going to launch Honor 10 Lite edition. As per the reports and rumors, it is believed that Honor 10 Lite edition will carry Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC. It will feature gradient color design as like of Xioami’s Mi 8 Lite. We expect some more teasers before launch which will give us an overview of the device.

Honor has tied up with Chinese pop singer Zhu Zhengting as the Honor mobile’s Lite brand ambassador. He’s a pop singer and film actor in China born in 1996. Honor is not new in working with big stars, they have already worked with Zhao Liying, Hu Ge, Sun Yang, Bai Yu, and other public figures.

As far as the specs are concerned, then Honor 10 Lite appears to be in better position than the Mi 8 Lite. Still, we have to wait for the official announcement before we compare it with each other.

Popular tipster Benjamin Geskin has claimed that the budget version of the Galaxy S10 will be featuring the Infinity-O display. He also shared key information on the specs and pricing of the phone.

The budget version of the Galaxy S10 will probably carry “Lite” moniker and it is expected to get announced alongside the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in February in the coming year. The Infinity-O display that is now rumored to be available on the S10 Lite will provide users with an impressive screen space since there will be slimmer bezels all around the screen. For the selfie camera, the display of the S10 Lite will feature a small cut-out at the top-left corner.

Samsung's New Infinty Display Designs

Previous rumors had claimed that the Galaxy S10 Lite would be equipped with a single rear camera. According to Geskin, the rear panel of the Galaxy S10 Lite will be equipped with a dual camera setup. It is speculated that it may feature a horizontally arranged dual camera system. Like the Galaxy A7 (2018) smartphone that was announced recently, the Galaxy S10 Lite is also expected to feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

The tipster is not sure about the chipset that will be powering the S10 Lite. He has claimed that either the Snapdragon 845 or the upcoming Snapdragon 8150 will be fueling the smartphone. The S10 Lite is tipped to arrive in variants such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. As far as pricing is concerned, the handset is likely to be priced between $650 and $750.

Nokia X7 will launch outside China as the Nokia 8.1

The Nokia X7 moniker is exclusive to China while the global version is tipped to launch as Nokia 7.1 Plus in no distant time. So, this article is about the China-exclusive mode which came running Android 8.1 Oreo under Google’s Android One program. The recruitment is carried out on the company’s Weibo account and is open to persons who are running the official launch software and have never unlocked or rooted the model. Since this is an early build, intending testers are adviced to back up their data in case something goes wrong. As stated before, this is a closed beta so, testers are even required to sign a confidentiality agreement. We expect the company to launch a broader open beta testing programme that would accommodate more persons and would eventually give birth to the release of a stable ROM. The early update also implies that when the model is launched for the global market, it wouldn’t take long before getting Android Pie update.

The picture above does show there is a significant improvement when you shoot with Night Mode on. You can see the scales on the dragon statue and even the grooves inside its mouth. However, night mode isn’t perfect. For example, in the third image below, the photo seems overexposed.

Nevertheless, Night Mode is a welcome addition and will come in handy in a lot of situations. Hopefully, future updates will improve the results. Also, photo editing apps can be helpful if you want to edit pictures that are too bright.

Android Q will upgrade Split-screen feature to allow two apps run actively without pausing

One of the awesome features of smartphone interface provided by latest Android versions is the multi-window operations. The feature has existed in different forms over the years until the release of Android Nougat which brought a predictable and uniform implementation of multi-window support. Presently, there are three different multi-window modes: split-screen, freeform, and picture-in-picture which is available for phones in Android Oreo.

The split-screen feature lets users run two apps side by side but that isn’t entirely true. Usually, the two apps can not run in real-time as one will be paused while the other one is active. For instance, if a user tries to run a gaming app and watch a video at the same time, if the video is active, the game will be paused and vice versa. Users will need to click on the on the window they want to be active before it will start running. Presently, there is no provision in stock Android to retain both apps as active and Android Pie has no solution. However, that will soon change with the coming Android Q. thanks to Android’s recently added support for foldable smartphones.

Google is now reportedly introducing a new feature called “multi-resume” which is set to become mandatory in Android Q. The multi-resume feature will make it possible for multiple apps to be open and actually be running at the same time. Google will also start allowing manufacturers to keep all apps resumed/active when in multi-window. At present, this feature is available on Samsung latest models with the “MultiStar” module in Good Lock and in no distant time, native support will be available on all Android devices. There is even the possibility of the feature becoming available on Android Pie but since it has shipped, both the OEM and the app will have to opt-in in order to test this feature on an existing Android Pie device.  This will be a joint effort of OEMs and app developers and since it is a good feature, it might get adopted early.  Thus, OEMs will need to roll out an update to include support for multi-resume on the particular smartphone, and the app developer also needs to include a special tag in their Manifest to enable functionality for their particular app.

Android Q will, however, come with the multi-resume support as a mandatory behaviour. This is a sure indication that foldable smartphones will be the trend of 2019 as the feature is very much need for the interface to work with fluidity. Large screen smartphones and phones with split-screen support will find the feature beneficial as it would allow multitasking with ease.

Expected release date and price for Samsung Galaxy F

The highlight of Samsung‘s Developer Conference was the announcement of its foldable smartphone. While we did see the device in action and had a glimpse of the new One UI designed for it, there was no specific information on when it would be revealed.

Samsung Galaxy F

Details have surfaced from Korea about a likely release date not only for the phone which has been dubbed the Galaxy F but also the Galaxy S10 series.

According to The Korea Herald, the Galaxy F and the Galaxy S10 series will be launched in March 2019. This will be after their official unveiling at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The launch of the Galaxy S series isn’t unusual since that is more or less the period they get unveiled but since Samsung already said the Galaxy F would launch before the second half of the year, the March release date isn’t out of place.

Samsung also revealed to the press that it plans to make at least a million units of the phone at first and see how the reception is before making more. However, it won’t be cheap. Unconfirmed sources have said it will be priced at about $1800 which would make it one of Samsung’s most expensive phones.
