The latest information arrives from a WinFuture report, which also shared images of the upcoming device. The brand is expected to launch the Fairphone 6 in a Horizon Black color option, with the new report hinting that it will also be listed in Cloud White and Forest Green. This model is expected to launch in at least one variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Fairphone is updating the design of the Fairphone 6 to match modern devices. You get narrower bezels on the front with a flat frame. One of the buttons can also be seen in yellow, which is in start contrast to the dark color hue of the smartphone. Although, this could be the slider that allows simple detachment of the rear panel. The back may feature a dual tone color design along with a dual camera module. This includes a main camera and an ultra wide angle lens.

So you’re missing a telephoto shooter. Among the new design changes is the modular body, which makes the selfie camera, two rear cameras, USB-C port, and even the battery replaceable. In other words, its simply process for any user, and you won’t need a skilled technician for repairs/replacements. Lastly, the base model of the new Fairphone 6 might launch for a starting price tag of just 549 Euros.

Galaxy A-series phones that will get One UI 8 update

One UI 8 update Galaxy A series

While One UI 7 is still rolling out, Samsung is already almost prepared for the One UI 8 release. The brand has already begun the One UI 8 beta program, with the stable version scheduled for release this summer. Reports say it might happen as soon as next month.

Sadly, with every major upgrade, many Galaxy devices reach the end of their life, and so was true for One UI 7. As a result, only a handful of Samsung devices will be upgraded to One UI 8 based on Android 16. In this post, we’ll go through the list of Galaxy A-series phones that are eligible for the One UI 8 update.

Galaxy A-series phones eligible for One UI 8 upgrade

Samsung hasn’t announced which Galaxy devices will receive the One UI 8 update, but still, we were able to figure it out, thanks to a transparent update policy.

  • Galaxy A73
  • Galaxy A56
  • Galaxy A55
  • Galaxy A54
  • Galaxy A53
  • Galaxy A36
  • Galaxy A35
  • Galaxy A34
  • Galaxy A33
  • Galaxy A26
  • Galaxy A25
  • Galaxy A24
  • Galaxy A16 (LTE/5G)
  • Galaxy A15 (LTE/5G)
  • Galaxy A06 (LTE/5G)

If your Galaxy device is there on the list, wait for the official timeline to know when it’s your turn. Remaining Galaxy A-series owners can still wait for the official One UI 8 list for the final confirmation before making the switch to a new model.

When will One UI 8 start rolling out?

Samsung hasn’t announced an exact release date for One UI 8. However, it has confirmed that the update will start rolling out to devices ‘this summer.’ Well, that could mean anything between June and September. More recently, the brand revealed that upcoming foldables, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, will boot One UI 8 right out of the box.

There’s no official release date yet for the upcoming foldables, but recent reports point towards next month’s release — and it shouldn’t be surprising, given that Android 16 will be released this month. Brands usually take a few weeks thereafter to polish their custom skin. Hence, a July release for One UI 8 is very much likely.

Samsung is looking more confident with One UI 8 than it was with One UI 7. It has already begun public beta testing and has committed to a release timeline, although not entirely clear at the moment, but still, that’s anything better than One UI 7.

One UI 8 is a relatively much smaller upgrade than One UI 7, and that’s one big reason for quicker development. However, there’s no denying that Samsung is more proactive this time to regain the trust it lost with One UI 7, and from that perspective, it’s an important upgrade. We talked more about why One UI 8 is a crucial update (read more here).

Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra likely isn’t real

Samsung’s recent teaser for its next foldable smartphone got fans excited with talk of a “Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra”, but a well-known tipster has thrown cold water on the idea. With the Galaxy Unpacked event looming, it seems the Korean tech giant’s “Ultra” hype was more about marketing flair than a new premium model, leaving us with a trio of foldables to look forward to this summer.

Yesterday, Samsung’s press release dropped hints about an “Ultra experience” that “goes beyond a simple list of upgraded features,” leading many to speculate about a Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra. However, tipster Max Jambor, known for reliable leaks, took to X to clarify that no such device is coming—at least not at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in early July. “The Fold7 itself will bring the ‘Ultra’ experience,” Jambor stated, suggesting Samsung is using the term to hype up the standard Galaxy Z Fold7 rather than launching a separate Ultra model. The move, he claims, was a deliberate tactic to stir excitement.

Instead, Samsung’s lineup will stick to three foldables: the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and the budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, as confirmed by recent TKDN certifications. The Z Fold7 is rumored to be a sleek upgrade, possibly as thin as 3.9mm unfolded and 8.9mm folded, with a 200MP main camera, 8.2-inch inner display, and Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE, meanwhile, may run on Exynos chips and offer a larger cover screen. All three are expected to debut with One UI 8 on Android 16, promising smoother animations and enhanced AI features.

While the Unpacked event’s exact date remains unconfirmed, leaks point to early July in New York. With no “Z Fold7 Ultra” in sight, the focus is now on whether the Z Fold7 can deliver that “Ultra” experience Samsung is teasing. More details should emerge soon as the event nears.

Nothing Headphone (1) launch date confirmed, and it’s around the corner

The London-based tech brand just confirmed the launch of their first over-ear headphones, dubbed Nothing Headphone (1), set to drop at a big event in July. With a sleek design and a hyped-up audio partnership, these headphones are already sparking curiosity among Nothing fans.

The Nothing Headphone (1) will be unveiled alongside the Nothing Phone (3) on July 1 at 6 PM BST in London, which translates to 10 AM in Los Angeles, 1 PM in New York, 7 PM in Central Europe, and 10:30 PM in India. Announced by CEO Carl Pei at SXSW London, this global event marks Nothing’s bold entry into the premium over-ear audio space. The company has teamed up with British audio giant KEF, known for its top-notch sound quality, hinting that the Headphone (1) could deliver a serious sonic punch.

Nothing Headphone (1) fan concept

Nothing previously made some bold promises for its Headphone (1). While specifics are still under wraps, the KEF collaboration suggests these headphones might rival heavyweights like Apple’s AirPods Max, but with Nothing’s signature transparent aesthetic.

Rumors from earlier this year, sparked by a listing on the SGS Fimko certification site, first hinted at Nothing’s headphone plans, and now it’s official. However, there’s a bit of a twist—while the unveiling is set for July 1, a leak from tipster @MysteryLupin suggests the Headphone (1) might not hit shelves until September, with a price tag around $299. That’s a steal compared to premium competitors, if true. Expect black and white color options, possibly with a gray variant, keeping Nothing’s minimalist vibe.

With the Phone (3) already pegged as a flagship contender, the Headphone (1) launch adds extra excitement to Nothing’s July event.

Redmi K90 series could feature a high-end 6.59-inch 2K flat panel

Xiaomi might be getting ready to change things up with the upcoming Redmi K90 series, if a new display rumor is anything to go by. According to popular tipster Digital Chat Station, a new 6.59-inch ±2K LTPS flat panel is currently under development, and speculation points toward it making its way to Xiaomi’s popular Redmi lineup, most likely the K90.

Redmi K80 Pro

Details around the panel itself suggest that this isn’t just another mid-range screen upgrade. The display is said to feature exceptionally high pixel density, which could translate into better sharpness and detail across the UI and media playback. It reportedly makes use of next-generation materials and manufacturing techniques usually reserved for flagship-tier panels. The design, too, is getting some attention: a wide-screen layout with slim bezels and large-radius corners gives it a more modern, immersive aesthetic.

Redmi K90 series display specs leak

While the exact phone model remains unnamed, commenters were quick to connect the dots to the Redmi K90, given the timing and positioning of the leak. If true, it marks a slight but deliberate shift from the current K80’s 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, a display jointly developed with TCL CSOT that already boasts impressive specs like M9 luminescent material, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3200 nits of peak brightness.

That TCL connection is worth keeping an eye on. While the leak doesn’t explicitly mention TCL CSOT’s involvement in this new panel, Xiaomi has a long-standing partnership with the display manufacturer. Their collaboration spans multiple generations, including the Xiaomi 15S Pro, which uses TCL CSOT’s newer C9 luminescent material and a dual-microcavity design that optimizes luminous efficiency while maintaining low power draw. The panel delivers up to 3200 nits of peak brightness, all while maintaining power efficiency.

Until official confirmation arrives, the display’s origins and eventual phone pairing remain speculative. But one thing is clear: Xiaomi is likely continuing to push visual fidelity further in its sub-flagship category. The K90, if it is indeed the target, may land with a slightly smaller screen, but could pack more punch than its predecessor where it matters, pixel sharpness, panel efficiency, and next-gen materials that blur the line between mid-range and premium.

Redmi Pad 2 debuts globally: 9,000mAh battery, 90Hz display, 600 nits brightness

Xiaomi has launched it’s Redmi Pad 2 globally, just ahead of its much-anticipated India launch on June 18. This budget-friendly tablet brings a host of upgrades over its predecessor, packing a sharper display, beefier battery, and a new chip that promises to keep up with your daily grind. With a sleek design and wallet-friendly price, it’s shaping up to be a top pick for tablet shoppers.

REDMI Pad 2

Launched across multiple regions including the Philippines, UK, and Germany, the Redmi Pad 2 comes in two variants: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage at PHP 10,499 (₹16,200) and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage at PHP 12,999 (₹19,300). Available in grey, light blue, and silver, it’s set to hit India through Amazon, Flipkart, and Mi.com.

The tablet sports an 11-inch 2.5K LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate and 600 nits brightness, a step up from the original’s 10.61-inch display. Powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra, it outperforms the older Helio G99, handling multitasking and casual games like Asphalt 9 with ease.

Audio is a highlight, with quad speakers and Dolby Atmos, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack—a welcome addition missing from the first Redmi Pad. The 9,000mAh battery, up from 8,000mAh, supports 18W charging, though a 22.5W charger might be included. Running Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0, it offers a fresh, smooth interface with features like Circle to Search. However, the 5MP front camera is a slight downgrade from the original’s 8MP, while the 8MP rear camera remains unchanged.

With 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, microSD expansion, and stylus support, the Redmi Pad 2 is versatile for work and play. It’s poised to challenge budget tablets like the Realme Pad 2, making it a compelling choice for students.

OnePlus 13s vs OnePlus 13T: What’s Different and What’s New?

With compact flagships gaining more popularity, OnePlus finally caved and released the OnePlus 13T as its first ever small premium phone in China back in April. Now, the brand has just released the OnePlus 13s globally (Review). It was initially expected to be a simple rebranding for the overseas market, but there are some key differences here. So here’s everything new in the OnePlus 13s.

OnePlus 13s
OnePlus 13s

1. OnePlus 13s vs OnePlus 13T: Exclusive Color

At a glance, the OnePlus 13s and 13T appear practically identical to one another. Both measure 8.15mm in thickness and weigh 185 grams. You also get the new aluminum camera module on the back and a flat middle frame. However, the OnePlus 13T dropped in China in three color options, which include Morning Mist Gray, Heart-pounding Pink and Cloudy Ink Black. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13s dropped in Black Velvet, Pink Satin, and Green Silk. This new green variant is exclusive to the Indian market, and it might be the best color out of the lot.

2. Selfie camera with autofocus

For selfies and video calls, the OnePlus 13T packed a 16MP camera on the front that supports 1080p@30fps video recording. But the OnePlus 13s gets a notable upgrade with a 32MP camera that not only features auto focus, but even offers 4K@30fps video recording. On the other hand, the duo have the same 50MP LYT700/IMX906 main camera (OIS) and a 50MP telephoto shooter (EIS) with 2x optical zoom.

3. Battery

While you do get a better selfie shooter on the front, the OnePlus 13s takes a hit in the battery department. It is powered by a 5,850mAh battery, which is smaller than the 6260mAh cell on the 13T. OnePlus claims that they had to reduce the battery size in the Indian variant to accommodate the new and improved selfie camera, but I’m not completely sold on this reasoning. Regardless, the battery is still quite massive and retains the 80W wired fast charging support.

4. Pricing

The OnePlus 13s just made its global debut in India with a 54,999 INR starting price tag for the 12GB + 256GB variant (roughly 640 US Dollars). This makes it around 200 US Dollars more expensive than the OnePlus 13T, which was released for 3,399 yuan (roughly 446 US Dollars) for the same 12GB + 256GB option. Even the top end 16GB + 1TB is more affordable since it sells for 4,499 yuan (roughly 617 US Dollars) in China.

Samsung Galaxy Store Adds Glance AI for Instant Shopping and Styling on Lock Screens

Glance has partnered with Samsung Galaxy Store to launch Glance AI, a new shopping experience built into the lock screen for Samsung users in the US. The feature gives users access to personalized AI-driven shopping and styling directly from their lock screens.

Glance AI

Glance AI uses generative AI to let users see themselves in different outfits by analyzing a selfie or a photo from their gallery. The platform is powered by Google’s Gemini AI and Imagen for image generation. Users can shop for the looks with one tap, save the images as their lock screen wallpaper, or share them.

The experience is fully opt-in and is available both as an app and as a lock screen feature. Glance AI partners with over 400 brands to offer real-time product recommendations and order fulfillment. It also uses trending content, local events, and social media activity to keep suggestions fresh. With high-speed AI processing, the platform delivers features like flash sales and trend-based shopping updates.

The lock screen integration makes it easy for users to access the platform without opening any apps. The goal is to turn the smartphone lock screen into a more useful space for shopping and content discovery.

Jason Shim, Head of Samsung Galaxy Store USA, said Glance AI fits the Galaxy Store’s aim to deliver high-quality, personalized experiences. He said using AI to enable shopping directly on the lock screen makes the platform more dynamic and useful for users.

Naveen Tewari, Founder and CEO of Glance and InMobi, said the idea is to help people see what’s possible and act on it instantly. He said the Samsung partnership brings that experience to more users across the US.

Glance is backed by Google, Jio Platforms, and Mithril Capital, and operates as an unconsolidated subsidiary of InMobi. Applications for the new lock screen experience are now live in the US.

Xiaomi’s XRING chip may be stuck at 3nm after U.S. bans EDA tool exports

We just finished testing Xiaomi’s brand-new XRING O1 chipset, and no surprise, it’s a flagship-class through and through. In fact, it even outperforms Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite in both single-core and multi-core Geekbench 6 tests.

Xiaomi designed the XRING O1 from the ground up with a 10-core CPU setup and TSMC’s 3nm process. While that is impressive for its first mobile SoC, the company might be stuck at this node for the foreseeable future. Why?

Trump’s ban on EDA tools is a major blow to Xiaomi and Lenovo

The U.S. has officially blocked the export of advanced Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to China. EDA is the backbone of modern chip design, enabling simulation, verification, and optimization of complex integrated circuits.

Xiaomi Xring chip 2nm process leak

More importantly, it is what’s used to design Gate All Around Field Effect Transistor (GAAFET) structures. And since TSMC’s 2nm node process is a GAA product, the ban on EDA tools implies a ban on the use of TSMC’s 2nm node as well.

That effectively means Xiaomi (and others) won’t be able to tap into TSMC’s 2nm or lower nodes for their custom chips. For now, the XRING lineup is likely to remain locked into the current ‘N3E’ 3nm process for the long haul.

It’s not just Xiaomi in the crosshairs. Lenovo, which is also rumored to be developing its own in-house silicon, will feel the heat too. In many ways, this puts them on the same restricted path that Huawei has been navigating since the U.S. sanctions began in 2019.

But it’s not all bad news for China. With foreign EDA tools off the table, there’s now a major push to build domestic alternatives. Huawei has already been investing in its own EDA platforms and backing local players like Empyrean to fill the gap.

Huawei tipped to launch its second tri-fold phone this year with camera and chip upgrade

Huawei only launched its first-generation tri-fold phone last September, but it appears that a follow-up is already in the works. A new leak from Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station claims that Huawei’s second-generation tri-fold device is slated for release in the second half of 2025.

According to the leak, the upcoming foldable will stick with the same screen setup. This likely means the multi-panel folding mechanism seen in the original Mate XT. Most of the changes are happening under the hood.

The next tri-fold is expected to feature a new Kirin chipset built on what tipster calls a N-1 node. It could be the Kirin 9020 chip, DCS says in the comment, which makes sense as the original Mate XT is powered by Kirin 9010.

Imaging is another area where the new tri-fold phone could see some meaningful improvements. While exact camera specs aren’t yet available, the leak suggests that Huawei is focusing heavily on photography and peripheral upgrades for its next Mate foldable.

Huawei Mate XT is a special foldable

What made the Huawei Mate XT stand out last year was its bold form factor. It was the first commercially available tri-fold phone, featuring a flexible OLED display that folded in two places to expand into a full-sized tablet.

Huawei-Mate-XT
Huawei Mate XT

While most foldables on the market offer a single hinge design, Huawei went a step further with a Z-style folding structure that gave users more flexibility and screen real estate in a relatively compact footprint.

The Mate XT also garnered attention for its software optimization. HarmonyOS adapted seamlessly between phone, tablet, and tent modes for a smooth user experience with minimal lag or scaling issues.

Combined with respectable battery life and Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9010 chip, the Mate XT seems to perform durably and better than expected. You can check out our review (video | read) for more details.

The new version brings major improvements in cameras, sensors, wearability, and on-device processing. Aria Gen 2 is designed for researchers working in machine perception, robotics, and contextual AI.

Meta Aria Gen 2

Design and Fit

Aria Gen 2 is lightweight at 74 to 76 grams and now includes folding arms for easier storage. It comes in eight size options to fit different face shapes and head sizes.

Meta Aria Gen 2

Camera Upgrades

The glasses now have four computer vision cameras, up from two in Gen 1. These use a global shutter sensor with 120 dB HDR (compared to 70 dB in Gen 1), which improves performance in bright and low-light conditions. The stereo overlap has been increased from 35° to 80° to improve depth perception and 3D tracking.

Sensor Additions

A calibrated ambient light sensor (ALS) with ultraviolet detection improves exposure control. A contact microphone built into the nosepad captures clearer audio in noisy environments. A photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor also in the nosepad estimates the user’s heart rate.

Time Sync

Aria Gen 2 includes SubGHz radio for sub-millisecond time sync between devices, replacing the software-based method used in Gen 1.

On-Device Machine Perception

A custom Meta coprocessor runs machine perception algorithms directly on the device. Key features include:

  • Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO): Tracks movement in six degrees of freedom
  • Eye Tracking: Monitors gaze, blink, pupil diameter, and more
  • Hand Tracking: Tracks full 3D hand movement and joint positions

Availability

Applications for Aria Gen 2 will open later this year. Aria Gen 1 kits are still available. Meta will demo Aria Gen 2 at CVPR 2025 in Nashville this June.

Xiaomi 16 battery leak: even larger than previously expected

Xiaomi’s next flagship, the Xiaomi 16, is shaping up to be a powerhouse, and a fresh leak out of China claims the phone will pack an even larger battery than previously expected. With top-tier specs, the Xiaomi 16 could be a game-changer in the compact flagship race.

According to a new rumor from China, the Xiaomi 16 will boast a whopping 7,000 mAh battery, a significant leap from the 5,240 mAh cell in the Xiaomi 15. Earlier whispers pegged it at 6,800 mAh or “over 6,500 mAh,” but this latest figure cements the Xiaomi 16 as a potential battery king for its size. Notably, it aligns with an earlier leak from Weibo tipster ‘Wisdom Pikachu’ (translated from Chinese), who had hinted at a similar battery capacity.

Paired with a rumored 6.3-inch to 6.39-inch flat OLED display, the phone keeps a compact, pocket-friendly form factor while offering stamina that could outlast most competitors. This endurance boost, likely aided by silicon-carbon tech, means longer gaming sessions, streaming, or work without scrambling for a charger.

Beyond the battery, the Xiaomi 16 is officially confirmed to impress with a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, Qualcomm’s next-gen silicon expected to drop around the same time. The next-generation Qualcomm flagship promises blazing performance and efficiency for everything from AI tasks to heavy multitasking. The camera setup sounds equally exciting, with leaks pointing to a triple 50MP rear array, including a main sensor with a 1/1.3-inch size for stellar low-light shots and a possible periscope telephoto for crisp zoom and macro shots. Running HyperOS 3.0 on Android 16, it’ll likely feel snappy and modern.

With a debut expected in China by late September, the Xiaomi 16 could set a new bar for compact flagships. If these specs hold, it’s poised to challenge rivals like the Galaxy S26 Ultra or the iPhone 17 Pro models regarding battery endurance and in-hand experience.
