OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 13T today, April 24, 2025, in China, touting it as a compact yet capable flagship. Starting at 3,399 yuan (roughly ₹40,000 or $470), or 2,899 yuan (around ₹34,000 or $400) with subsidies, this compact beast packs flagship-grade performance, a massive battery, and a new design.

The OnePlus 13T redefines compact flagships with a 6.32-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED display (2640×1216, 460 PPI, 120Hz, 2400 nits), featuring ultra-narrow bezels and Bright Eye Protection 2.0. Its 185g body, with a 50:50 weight balance, comes in Morning Mist Gray, Pink (coral fleece glass), and Cloud Ink Black (silk glass), sporting a flat metal frame and a new “metal cube” camera deco. A customizable shortcut key replaces the alert slider, adding versatility.

Compact yet capable

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the 13T scores over 3 million on AnTuTu, a first for small-screen phones. It runs ColorOS 15 (Android 15) with a smooth dual engine, AI flash memory, and five years of updates. The 6,260mAh battery—”world’s largest” for a small-screen phone—supports 80W fast charging. The Glacier Cooling System, with a 4400mm² VC and 37,000mm² total heat dissipation, keeps it cool during intense gaming like “Ni Shui Han” at 1.5K 120fps.

Camera-wise, it mirrors the OnePlus 13 with a 50MP Sony LYT700 main sensor, 50MP 2x telephoto (OnePlus claims 4x lossless zoom), and 32MP front camera, enhanced by flagship AI imaging and shadowless capture. Connectivity shines with a G1 Wi-Fi chip, 360° antenna system, and up to 50% stronger signals. Unfortunately, it lacks an ultrawide.

Pricing and availability:

Priced from 2,899 yuan (₹34,000) for 12GB+256GB to 3,999 yuan (₹47,000) for 16GB+1TB post-subsidy, it’s a steal for its specs. While a global launch remains unconfirmed, the 13T’s compact form, refreshed design, and strong performance make it well worth the attention.

The Xperia 1 VII, likely launching soon given the Xperia 1 VI’s May 2024 debut, sticks close to its predecessor’s aesthetic, as shown in certification images. The side and back finishes mirror the 1 VI, but the camera bump is chunkier, housing a triple-lens setup. Rumors of all three cameras using Exmor-T sensors didn’t pan out—only the main 52MP (48MP effective) camera appears to sport one, matching the 1 VI’s 12MP ultrawide and telephoto. The microphone has shifted closer to the 3.5mm headphone jack, a Sony staple.

The phone’s dimensions are roughly 165mm tall and 74mm wide, a tad longer than the 1 VI’s 162 x 74mm, per the measurements. Fitting a 21:9 display in this frame would require slimmer bezels, leaving some speculation about the screen’s aspect ratio. The model number XQ-FSxx, with the SIM-free version likely XQ-FS44, and OEM ID PM-150x-BV suggest fewer regional variants than past models, hinting at a more limited rollout.

The Xperia 1 VII could pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, though specs remain unconfirmed. With a design that’s evolutionary rather than revolutionary, Sony is banking on its signature style. Expect more details as the rumored May 15 launch nears.

5 Ways the Motorola Edge 60 Stylus is Different from the Edge 60 Fusion

Motorola’s Edge series phones look a lot similar on the surface, but dig a little deeper, and you’ll find they cater to different audiences in the market. The new Edge 60 Fusion and Edge 60 Stylus are two such examples. 

Both are built on a familiar Motorola template. They both have a big p-OLED screen, decent cameras, flashy Pantone colors, and clean Android software. But there are some meaningful differences tucked beneath their spec sheets. 

Here are five ways the Edge 60 Stylus sets itself apart from the Edge 60 Fusion. And why those differences might actually matter, depending on how you use your phone.

1. The Stylus Actually Matters

As expected from the name, the Edge 60 Stylus includes a built-in stylus. It’s housed in the bottom corner of the phone and comes with software enhancements that let you jot down notes, sketch, or navigate with a bit more precision than your finger allows. 

Motorola has been trying to make the stylus stick on mid-range phones for a while now. We usually see it with the Moto G Stylus line, but this time, Motorola brought stylus support to the Edge series with the Edge 60 Stylus.

The Edge 60 Fusion, on the other hand, doesn’t support stylus input at all. If you don’t care about handwritten notes or precise selection, it won’t be a dealbreaker for you. 

But if the idea of a digital pen sounds remotely useful, or even just like a nice option to have, it’s only available on the Stylus variant. 

There’s no silo or support for aftermarket pens on the Fusion. This makes the Stylus feel less like a variant and more like a purpose-built device. 

2. Performance Goes in Slightly Different Directions

Under the hood, the two phones take diverging paths on silicon. The Edge 60 Fusion comes with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 globally, or the slightly bumped Dimensity 7400 in India. Meanwhile, the Stylus model relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.

In daily use, there isn’t a huge gap in raw power. Both chipsets are built on a 4nm process and use similar Cortex-A78 performance cores. However, there are slight variations in clock speed—2.5 GHz (Fusion global), 2.6 GHz (Fusion India), and 2.4 GHz on the Stylus—and even greater variation in GPU output. 

The Fusion’s Mali-G615 may also edge out Qualcomm’s Adreno 710 in some synthetic tests, especially for gaming. But most users probably won’t notice the difference outside of benchmark sheets.

The devices come with Android 15 pre-installed and are promised for up to two years of platform and 3 years of security patch updates. 

3. Display Differences That Aren’t Obvious

On paper, the display specs are nearly identical. Both devices sport 6.7-inch p-OLED panels with a 1220 x 2712 resolution and support for 120Hz refresh. They each claim HDR support and peak brightness levels that most users won’t reach in day-to-day use.

But there are some differences. The Edge 60 Fusion gets Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front. In comparison, the 60 Stylus settles for older Gorilla Glass 3. That means the Fusion is theoretically more resistant to scratches and small drops, even if the real-world difference is minor.

Brightness also tips slightly in the Fusion’s favor at peak output. It hits 4500 nits at peak versus 3000 nits on the Stylus. These numbers don’t really mean better outdoor visibility, but on paper, the Fusion’s screen is better protected and potentially brighter.

4. Audio and Ports

Audio hardware is one of the more concrete differentiators here. The Edge 60 Stylus includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with support for 24-bit/192kHz high-resolution audio. Whereas, the Edge 60 Fusion drops the headphone jack entirely. 

Both phones have stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, so external audio output should be comparable. But if you still value wired headphones or don’t want to deal with Bluetooth latency for voice calls, the Stylus might have a real edge here.

5. Battery Features

The Edge 60 Fusion comes with a 5200 mAh battery (or 5500 mAh in India), while the Stylus gets a slightly smaller 5000 mAh cell. Both charge at 68W over USB-C, and you can expect similar charging times. But the Stylus also has 15W wireless charging support. 

This makes the Stylus one of the few midrange phones in its price range to support both fast wired and wireless charging. It’s not the fastest wireless standard, but it’s better than nothing. And the Fusion, for whatever reason, decided to offer nothing in this area.

6. Conclusion: Two Phones With Just Enough Difference

There’s no obvious winner between the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and Edge 60 Stylus. Instead, what you get is a slow branching of two devices built on the same chassis, catering to different types of users. 

The Stylus targets those who still want pen input, a headphone jack, and wireless charging. The Fusion leans into a slightly sleeker body, a longer update promise, and a marginally better screen.

Neither phone breaks new ground, but they don’t really need to. If you already know which features matter to you, the choice is simple. If not, you’re likely to be fine with either. Just don’t expect either one to surprise you.

Hot on the heels of a video showcasing the iPhone 17 Air’s mold, which reportedly measures only 5.65mm in thickness, we now have photos of dummy units for the whole iPhone 17 lineup. The black set lines up with the iPhone 17 on the left, followed by the 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max on the right. The white units flip the order, starting with the 17 Pro Max, then 17 Pro, 17 Air, and 17.

These dummies, likely used for case design or early testing, hint at the family’s shared aesthetic. The 17 Air stands out as the slimmest. While specs are still under wraps, rumors point to a 6.7-inch display for the Air, a single rear camera, and a new A19 chip across the board, with Pro models likely packing an A19 Pro and periscope telephoto lenses.

The Chinese brand has announced the Xiaomi Camera 6 release schedule. We know that the Xiaomi Camera 6 will come pre-installed with HyperOS 2.2, which gives an idea of when Xiaomi users can expect the new HyperOS update on their devices.

Casio G-Shock Goliath Frogman Watch Debuts in UK & Japan: Features Magnetic Hand Tech & Rugged New Design

Casio has confirmed that the G-Shock MRG-BF1000RG-3A Goliath Frogman will launch in the UK. The watch is priced at £4,400 (~$5,838), making it the lowest-priced model in the MRG-BF1000 lineup. The other models, the MRG-BF1000R-1A and MRG-BF1000B-1A, are priced at £4,500 and £5,200 respectively. The G-Shock MRG-BF1000RG-3A Goliath Frogman will also be available in Japan starting May 23 at an MSRP of 572,000 yen (~$3,986).

The design is based on the goliath frog, the largest amphibian in the world. It features a khaki Dura Soft fluororubber strap, orange details, and beige Neobrite-coated hands and indexes for visibility underwater. The case is made from lightweight, rust-resistant titanium and includes over 70 parts. It has a screw-lock crown and case back for better water resistance. A titanium carbide coating and deep-hardening treatment protect the case from wear.

The watch has a green-tinted sapphire crystal case back and hand-painted glow-in-the-dark details. The Frogman logo is engraved on the case. The buffered crown and Clad Guard Structure improve shock resistance. The strap can be easily replaced, and the titanium alloy buckle and button guards improve durability.

China quietly cracks 5nm without EUV: How SMIC defied the chip sanctions with sheer engineering

In a move that could reshape the global semiconductor industry, China’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) has reportedly pulled off 5nm chip production without using extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography.

Instead, SMIC achieved this using older deep ultraviolet (DUV) tools, paired with a highly complex process known as Self-Aligned Quadruple Patterning (SAQP). The breakthrough, detailed in a series of tweets by semiconductor analyst William Huo on X, isn’t just technical; it’s a bold geopolitical signal.

1. No EUV, No Problem

For years, the prevailing industry consensus was that EUV lithography, produced solely by Dutch company ASML, was indispensable for fabricating chips at 5nm and below. Without access to EUV systems due to export restrictions enforced by the U.S. and its allies, most analysts believed China’s chip ambitions would stall at the 7nm mark.

Instead, SMIC pushed forward using brute-force DUV techniques, squeezing every nanometer out of aging tools. According to Huo, this involved stacking multiple lithography and etching steps, specifically using SAQP, to mimic the precision of EUV. The method is slower, more error-prone, and expensive, but it works.

The result? A working 5nm-class chip, not yet in consumer devices but expected to arrive soon, potentially with the same market-shifting impact as the 7nm-based Kirin 9000S, which powered the Huawei Mate 60 and famously beat the iPhone 15 to offering satellite call support.

2. Frontline Fab, Not a Knockoff

The SMIC milestone also highlights China’s rapid progress in semiconductor tooling. Huo points to AMEC, now considered competitive with U.S.-based Lam Research in etching equipment, and NAURA, whose wafer cleaning tools rival those of Japan’s TEL. These firms were once seen as playing catch-up. Now they’re part of a parallel, self-reliant semiconductor supply chain.

“This isn’t just duplication,” Huo emphasized. “These are frontline fabs.” China is no longer imitating—it’s iterating on its own terms, with its own technology stack.

3. Sanctions Backfire, Huawei Surges

SMIC’s capabilities extend beyond smartphone chips. Huawei recently unveiled its Ascend 920 AI accelerator, reportedly manufactured on SMIC’s 6nm node. While SMIC remains cut off from EUV machines, it leveraged multi-patterning DUV lithography, possibly through its N+3 process, equivalent to 6nm, to produce this chip. The Ascend 920 delivers 900 TFLOPS of performance, a 30% to 40% jump over Huawei’s previous-gen 7nm Ascend 910C, along with 4 TB/s memory bandwidth.

Ironically, U.S. sanctions, specifically those restricting Nvidia’s H20 accelerator shipments to China, have boosted Huawei’s AI business. With Nvidia chips locked behind a strict export license system, many Chinese firms have turned to Huawei’s domestically produced alternatives, which require no such hurdles.

The very policy designed to kneecap Huawei has instead fueled its growth in the domestic AI market. SMIC’s advanced DUV nodes are the silent engine powering this shift.

4. The Road Ahead: 3nm with DUV?

Every chip SMIC ships under sanctions is a statement of resilience. It proves that cutting China off from EUV didn’t stop progress, it redirected it. While DUV-based 5nm chips may not match the raw performance of TSMC or Samsung’s latest EUV-made nodes, they’re already “good enough” for most modern workloads, including AI, 5G, and high-performance consumer electronics.

There are already whispers that SMIC is experimenting with an even more extreme technique, Self-Aligned Octuple Patterning (SAOP), to push DUV down to 3nm territory. It sounds improbable, but in a world where elegance is increasingly a luxury, China is betting on sheer execution.

If successful, it could permanently redefine assumptions around lithography, tool dependencies, and the geopolitical control of chip supply chains.

5. Moore’s Law, Rewritten

“Moore’s Law didn’t die,” Huo wrote. “It moved to Shanghai.” Instead of giving up, China is grinding its way forward, layer by layer, pixel by pixel. The future of chips may no longer be written by who holds the best tools, but by who refuses to stop building.

The rules are changing. And DUV just lit the fuse.

Today, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station released a Weibo post to reveal key details of what appears to be the Vivo S30 Pro Mini handset.

The above leak suggests that the S30 series compact smartphone may have “Pro Mini” in its moniker. Therefore, there is a possibility that the device may arrive with the Vivo S30 Pro Mini marketing name.

The leak reveals that the alleged Vivo S30 Pro Mini will feature a 6.31-inch flat screen that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K resolution of 2640 x 1216 pixels. Previously, the tipster revealed that the device will have an LTPO OLED panel.

Powering the device will be an upcoming chip dubbed the Dimensity 9400e, which according to other reports may debut next month. The leak states that the D9400e would just be a rebranded version of the existing Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset. Under the hood, it will feature a big battery with support for 90W fast charging.

For selfies and video calls, the alleged S30 Pro Mini will have a 50-megapixel selfie camera. The rear camera setup will comprise a 50-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens.

As mentioned above, the Vivo S30 Pro Mini is rumoured to debut in May. The standard S30, which is expected to debut alongside it, is said to have a 6.67-inch OLED 1.5K screen and the forthcoming Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset.

For selfies and video calls, there is a 12MP shooter on the front. The main camera is a few generations old but still holds strong on Samsung flagships, while the 50MP ultra wide is an upgrade. You also get up to 5x optical zoom via the telephoto shooters.

On the other hand, you only get a triple camera setup on the Honor GT Pro. This includes a 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide, and 200MP telephoto shooter (with 3x optical zoom). While the main telephoto shooter can’t offer a better optical zoom, the 200MP sensor allows for better hybrid magnification with digital zoom. The selfie camera also has a 50MP shooter, which can have an advantage over the ageing selfie camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Google Pixel 9a DxOMark Camera & Display Reviews Are Finally Here!

Google‘s latest Pixel 9a has just passed through DxOMark, and its official review is finally out. Like the rest of the Pixel 9 series, it has managed to achieve a decent score in both the camera and display department. So let’s check it out.

In the camera testing, the Search engine giant’s Pixel 9a achieved a score of 153 points. This allowed it to achieve a global smartphone ranking of 33, although it managed to take the 1st position in the high-end segment, which includes upper mid range smartphones. DxOMark’s test revealed that the Pixel 9a managed to offer many of the premium features that was seen on the more expensive Pixel 9 model.

The camera had a good dynamic range, accurate exposure, and great colors. However, zoomed shots suffered due to the lack of a dedicated telephoto shooter. The Pixel 9a struggled in low light situations for photos and videos. DxOMark also tested the device’s display and gave it a score of 155 points. Once again, it is the highest score for its segment. Interestingly, the Pixel 9a even broke the top 10 in the global ranking, taking the 8th position.

The review notes that the display is great for a wide range of use, like typical web browsing and video playback. Google’s Pixel 9a features a vibrant and detailed screen that is fast and accurate in terms of touch input. This model just went on sale in India earlier this month with a starting price tag of 49,999 INR, while its global price tag starts from 499 US Dollars.

Xiaomi is getting ready to launch the Poco F7, following the global release of the Poco F7 Ultra and Poco F7 Pro last month. According to leaker Yogesh Brar, the Poco F7 is expected to arrive in late May. While the full list of launch markets isn’t confirmed yet, India is likely to be one of the first. The Poco F7 Ultra might launch alongside it. A global release is also possible, based on a separate report.

The Poco F7 is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which hasn’t been officially announced yet but has already had its specs leaked.
