Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Gorilla Armor 2 is not as scratch-resistant as its predecessor

One of the few hardware upgrades in the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the front surface, the Gorilla Armor 2. Corning described the glass as “The industry’s first scratch-resistant, anti-reflective glass ceramic cover material for mobile devices.” Tests cited by Samsung show that the new glass is highly resistant to drops and can survive the impact of a 2.2m drop on a concrete-like surface.

Galaxy S25 Ultra scratches at level 6

Its about a balance between drop and scratch resistance

But on the other hand, as famous YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s test reveals, the glass is less scratch-resistant than the first-generation Gorilla Armor. So what’s going on?

Well, as it turns out, making the grass more resistant to scratches also makes it more brittle, and manufacturers often switch between the two back and forth in successive generations. So this year the glass is more drop-resistant at the cost of being slightly more prone to scratches.

That said, the glass still scratches at level 6, which is kind of the industry standard for smartphones. So if you are scrolling through this article without a screen protector or have plans to buy the phone as long the pre-order period ends, you don’t have to worry at all.

Pre-order Samsung Galaxy phones now & get up to $1,250 off + a chance to win $5,000 credit (US only) – https://howl.link/erlejlgnge89i

The slightly curved sides also used to be prone to scratches, which Samsung has fixed from the root – now you have a completely flat display. The Gorilla Glass Armor 2 also comes with a slightly improved anti-reflective coating.

The display panel underneath is the same as last year and reaches the same 2600 nits of peak brightness. However, if you are wondering whether the grainy effect still appears in low light, it was apparently a software issue and has been fixed with the 2025 flagship.

Realme P3 spotted on Geekbench with underclocked Snapdragon 7s Gen 3

The Realme P3 series is set to launch in India soon. The Realme RMX5070, expected to be the Realme P3 has surfaced on Geekbench, revealing key specifications. The listing suggests the device runs on an unfamiliar chipset, possibly an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 or a new SoC altogether.

Realme P3 Geekbench

The benchmark data shows a prime CPU core clocked at 2.3 GHz, lower than the 2.5 GHz on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. It is accompanied by three performance cores at 2.21 GHz (down from 2.4 GHz) and four efficiency cores running at 1.8 GHz.

In terms of performance, the Realme P3 scored 1,110 in the single-core test and 3,116 in the multi-core test. The device listed features 12GB RAM. Previously, the device was also spotted on the Eurofins Certification platform with a 5,860mAh battery, offering a maximum of 45W fast charging support. The device is also expected to arrive in three RAM and storage configurations: 6GB+128GB, 8G+128GB, and 8GB+256GB. The color options will include Nebula Pink, Comet Grey, and Space Silver.

Opera Air: a browser designed to keep you mindful and productive

Last year Opera launched Opera One web browser with its built-in AI-powered Aria chatbot. Now the Norway-based company has launched its mindfulness-focused browser called Opera Air. It combines productivity tools with mindfulness features like break reminders, breathing exercises, and relaxing soundscapes.

Here’s what makes Opera Air special

Opera Air has a semi-transparent design and a floating sidebar, which is packed with tools to help you de-stress and stay focused for better productivity.

One of the standout features is “Boosts”, which plays a variety of soundscapes, including music, ambient sounds, and binaural beats. Binaural beats help with relaxation and focus by playing slightly different frequencies in each ear. Soundscapes can be played continuously or for a specific duration of time. The playback can be controlled from the sidebar easily.

Another key feature of Opera Air is the Break Reminder. It’s represented by an icon made up of three lines in the sidebar that gradually gray out as you work. Once the icon is fully faded, it’s time to take a break. Opera Air doesn’t just remind you to stop, but it also helps you make the most of your break with guided breathing exercises, neck stretches, full-body scans, and meditations that last up to 15 minutes.

Opera Air is more than just mindfulness

While mindfulness is the key feature of Opera Air (and perhaps the biggest reason I installed it immediately), it doesn’t lack the features of the default Opera browser, like a built-in ad blocker and free VPN, and access to Aria, Opera’s AI assistant. In summary, Opera Air encourages and helps you to become more mindful while including the plus points of the default Opera browser.

It’s available to download for free on Mac and Windows, making it an accessible option for anyone looking to balance productivity with mental wellbeing.

Galaxy Z Fold 7’s display crease is “almost gone”: claims tipster

Samsung has started shipping the pre-ordered Galaxy S25 series models in India, which will hit the shelves on February 7th. It’s time for the upcoming foldables to enter the conversation. The latest news is about the display crease of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Galaxy Z Fold 7 to use new hinge mechanism

According to tipster PandaFlash X, the display crease on the Z Fold 7 is “almost gone”. Reportedly, you can only notice the crease when light reflects from certain angles, which suggests that it won’t be noticeable in most cases when you’re looking at the display straight.

Samsung has improved this aspect over the years, but the crease is still noticeable and certainly isn’t the least visible as compared to some of its competitors. The crease largely depends on the folding mechanism, and according to recent reports, Samsung has opted for an improved hinge design for the upcoming book-style foldable.

The company launched the South Korea-exclusive Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition last year with a different hinge design, which makes it thinner than the Z Fold 6 (10.6 mm down from 12.1mm). Now the Z Fold 7 is expected to be based on the same mechanism as the Z Fold SE (Special Edition). So, you may expect the crease to remain the same, if not slightly less visible than that of the Z Fold SE.

The book-style foldable is also rumored to boast a 200MP main camera. However, the phone is going to be slimmer than the Z Fold 6 (which uses a smaller 50MP main sensor), and it’s unlikely to happen without the adoption of the ALOP lens tech or ruining the design aesthetic of a Z Fold device. Nonetheless, Samsung announced its new ALOP lens technology back in November last year and they can debut it with the next premium foldable device.

A recent teardown video reveals Samsung has upgraded the Galaxy S25 series with larger VC cooling systems. Now the tipster claims the same thing will happen with both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.

Apple clashes with EU rules as iPhone gets its first porn app

For years, Apple has maintained strict control over the apps available on iPhones, with one clear rule: no pornography. But that has now changed, at least in Europe. A new adult content app called Hot Tub has made its way onto iPhones via an alternative app marketplace, and Apple is voicing serious concerns.

EU Regulations Force Apple’s Hand, Paving the Way for Controversial Apps

The app, which describes itself as an “adult content browser,” allows users to watch videos from popular adult sites like Pornhub and XHamster. However, it is not available through the official App Store.

Instead, Hot Tub is offered on AltStore PAL, an independent app marketplace made possible by the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). This landmark legislation forces Apple to allow third-party app stores, giving developers more freedom to distribute software outside of Apple’s usual restrictions.

While Apple insists that it never approved Hot Tub, the app did pass its notarization process, a security check designed to weed out malware and fraud. This led AltStore PAL to call it “the world’s first Apple-approved porn app” a claim Apple has aggressively disputed.

In a statement, the company said, “Contrary to the false statements made by the marketplace developer, we certainly do not approve of this app and would never offer it in our App Store.” Apple also expressed deep concerns about the safety risks of adult content apps, particularly for minors.

AltStore PAL, founded by Riley Testut, received funding from Epic Games, a company that has been locked in a long-running legal battle with Apple over its app store policies. Interestingly, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney clarified that Hot Tub is not available on the Epic Games Store, distancing the company from the controversy.

For now, Hot Tub remains exclusive to the EU. But with alternative app stores gaining traction, this could mark the beginning of a new era where Apple no longer has the final say over what apps iPhone users can install.

Lenovo ThinkPad X9 Aura laptops with Intel Lunar Lake processor

Lenovo introduced the ThinkPad X9 Aura at CES 2025, featuring Intel’s Lunar Lake chips. Priced at $1,349 for the 16-inch variant and $1,239 for the 14-inch model, the ThinkPad X9 Aura laptops are now available to buy in the US market.

Lenovo ThinkPad X9 Aura

Lenovo ThinkPad X9 Aura features

The X9 moves away from the classic ThinkPad design. The TrackPoint is gone, replaced by a large haptic touchpad, and the keyboard layout now resembles Apple’s MacBook. Instead of the signature black finish, the X9 features a silver aluminum body, making it stand out from previous ThinkPads.

One major upgrade is OLED screens across all models. The 14-inch variant starts with a WUXGA OLED (1,920 x 1,200, 60Hz, 400 nits), while the 15.3-inch version gets a sharper 2.8K OLED (2,880 x 1,800, 120Hz, 500 nits) display as standard.

Lenovo ThinkPad X9 Aura

Under the hood, Intel’s Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V focuses on efficiency rather than high-end performance. To maintain performance over time, Lenovo includes an active cooling system with dual fans, a contrast to Apple’s passively cooled MacBook Air. RAM is integrated into the processor, with 16GB or 32GB options, while storage remains upgradable up to 2TB via an M.2 2242 SSD.

Unlike many ultrabooks, the ThinkPad X9 doesn’t skimp on ports. The “Engine Hub” includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, and a 3.5mm audio jack, with the 15.3-inch model adding a USB-A port. However, LTE and 5G connectivity are not available, which might be a drawback for business users who rely on mobile networks.

The 15.3-inch model comes with a larger 80Wh battery, while the 14-inch version has a 55Wh capacity. The larger model also includes four speakers and an 8MP webcam, whereas these are optional upgrades on the smaller X9.

Nubia V70 Max will launch on February 15: here’s all we know so far

This article is for anyone interested in an entry-level Android 15-powered phone in 2025. Nubia Philippines is teasing the nubia V70 Max, which is now confirmed to launch in the country on February 15. The complete specification of the device has been revealed thanks to two e-commerce platforms: Shopee and Lazada. Overall, the phone packs a larger battery, more RAM, and storage than the nubia V70 Design launched back in November last year.

Nubia V70 Max specifications:

This upcoming phone is packing a huge 6.9-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution, which supports up to 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Unisoc T606 4G chipset, built on a 12nm process node. It’s not going to blow your mind with flagship-level performance for sure. But for everyday tasks, it should do just fine. Plus, it comes with 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB of the V70 Design) and 128GB of storage, so you’ve got plenty of room for apps, photos, and all those memes you’ve been saving. We are also expecting a 256GB storage variant since the option was available with the previous release.

As for the cameras, the V70 Max features a total of three lenses: a 50MP main sensor, paired with a 2MP auxiliary lens, and an 8MP selfie.

But here’s where things get really interesting: the V70 Max comes with a massive 6,000mAh battery, up from 5000mAh of the V70 Design. When it does eventually run low, 22.5W wired charging will get you back up and running within a reasonably short time. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint reader for security, which is not a surprise as IPS displays are not transparent, which is necessary for an under-display optical scanner to function.

The phone runs on MyOS 15 based on Android 15, and will come with the following color options: gray, pink, and green.

Pricing?

Nubia is yet to reveal the pricing of this pocket-friendly Android. For reference, the nubia V70 Design was launched back in November last year with similar specifications for P5,299 (roughly $91 or Rs. 7,900).

Who Should Avoid Buying an iPhone?

Apple iPhones are some of the most popular smartphones in the world for many reasons. These devices offer a premium build, great software support and a seamless ecosystem. But despite all this, the iPhones aren’t the right fit for everyone. Ranging from pricing, missing features, or better alternatives, here’s a breakdown of who should avoid buying an iPhone.

Oppo-Find-X8-vs-iPhone-16-Pro

1. Users Who Prefer Customization and Freedom

One of the biggest drawbacks of using an iPhone is the lack of customization options compared to Android devices. Apple built the iOS as a closed system that mainly interacts with other Apple products. So you can’t download third party launchers, modify system themes, or sideload apps without jailbreaking the iPhone.

You can change the wallpapers and make slight tweaks, but it’s mostly a surface level personalization option. This means that people who like full control of their device and like to add custom ROMs, system modifications, or more, would prefer choosing Android.

Please Note: When you buy something using the links in our articles, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

2. Budget-Conscious Buyers

iPhones aren’t the most expensive smartphones in the market and various Android flagships can cost more than the latest iPhones. However, Android targets every price segment ranging from ultra premium to even budget categories. Most Apple iPhones only target the premium segment.

For instance, mid-range Android phones from brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Samsung often come with larger batteries, high refresh rate displays, and faster charging speeds. Meanwhile, features like the higher refresh rate would have you spend top dollar for the Pro series models.

3. People Who Prefer Android’s Open Ecosystem

Apple’s ecosystem is designed to work best when all your devices are from Apple. If you own a Mac, iPad, or Apple Watch, an iPhone integrates seamlessly. However, if you use Windows laptops, Android tablets, or other non-Apple devices, the experience isn’t as seamless.

On Android, users have more freedom to choose different brands and platforms without being locked into a single ecosystem. Google services, for example, work equally well on both Windows and Android devices, making cross-platform usage more convenient. Android manufacturers do have their own ecosystems as well, which does improve the cross platform functionality but you are not limited to these.

Is It Worth Waiting for the iPhone SE 4?

Apple’s iPhone SE series has always been a go-to option for those wanting a taste of the iOS experience without the hefty price tag. As rumors are now swirling about the fourth-generation iPhone SE, there’s growing curiosity about whether it’s worth waiting for this upcoming release. Let’s break down what we know so far and whether the wait makes sense.

iPhone-SE-4-rename-iPhone-16E

1. A Brief History of the iPhone SE

Apple launched its first iPhone SE back in 2016. The company cleverly repurposed the design of the iPhone 5/5S for the first budget iPhone while packing in the iPhone 6S’s hardware. Launched at just $329, it quickly gained popularity as a budget-friendly iPhone.

The second-generation SE arrived in 2020 with an iPhone 8-like design and a more powerful A13 Bionic chip from the iPhone 11 series. Apple bumped the price to $399 for the upgrades.

Two years later, the third-gen SE launched with the same design but an upgraded A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13. Its starting price was $429. This pattern of incremental updates suggests that Apple is preparing something new for the SE line, and it could be the biggest upgrade yet.

2. Design Overhaul

Apple iPhone SE 4

If leaks are to be believed, Apple is set to ditch the outdated 4.7-inch design with thick bezels and a physical Home button for the SE 4. Instead, it might adopt a design similar to the iPhone 14, featuring flat edges and a 6.1-inch display with a notch for the front camera. The change will bring the SE line in line with Apple’s more modern design language.

Another notable design shift could be the inclusion of an Action Button that will replace the traditional mute switch. However, the SE 4 might still retain a single rear camera module instead of the dual-camera setup seen on higher-end models.

3. Display

One of the biggest drawbacks of SE has always been its outdated LCD screen, which lacks the deep blacks and vibrant colors of OLED panels. That’s likely to change with the iPhone SE 4.

According to the reports, the SE 4 will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display from BOE. The expected resolution is 2532 × 1170 pixels with a peak brightness of 1200 nits. However, don’t expect ProMotion—Apple will likely keep the refresh rate at 60Hz to cut costs. Still, the shift from LCD to OLED is a big step forward.

4. Performance

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 vs Apple A18 Pro

Every iPhone SE model has packed a flagship-level chip, and the SE 4 looks to continue that trend. According to reports, it will be powered by Apple’s A18 chip—the same one found in the iPhone 16 series—bringing top-tier performance and years of software support. That’s something no similarly priced Android phone can match.

But the real kicker could be Apple Intelligence. AI is a major focus for new iPhones, and the SE 4 may support some of these features. If that’s the case, it will likely need 8GB of RAM—double the 4GB found in the SE 3. That wouldn’t just mean better multitasking; it could make the SE 4 an entry-level gateway into Apple’s AI ecosystem.

5. Battery Life and Charging

The iPhone SE lineup has never been known for stellar battery life, with the SE 3 housing a tiny 2,018 mAh cell. With a larger body, the SE 4 could fit a significantly bigger battery, closer to the 3,279 mAh found in the iPhone 14.

Charging speeds should also improve. While the SE 3 was limited to 20W wired and 7.5W wireless charging, the SE 4 might support slightly faster wired charging and MagSafe wireless charging. However, don’t expect anything groundbreaking here.

6. Connectivity and Apple’s Own Modem

One of the more uncertain aspects of the iPhone SE 4 is its modem. Apple has reportedly been working on its own 5G modem, codenamed “Centauri,” which may debut in the SE 4. While this could mean better optimization for Apple’s ecosystem, first-generation hardware can be unpredictable.

If Apple’s modem struggles with LTE, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth performance, it could be a major drawback. That said, Apple will likely test it extensively before launch, and software updates can fix minor issues.

USB-C is almost certain though, given the EU’s mandate requiring a standardized charging port. This would align the SE 4 with the rest of Apple’s lineup.

7. Camera Improvements

The SE 4 is rumored to feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera, a significant upgrade from the 12-megapixel sensor in the SE 3. This would dramatically improve image quality, particularly in low-light conditions. The front camera will likely remain at 12 megapixels.

While the lack of a dual-camera setup might disappoint some users, the advanced sensor should still deliver impressive results.

8. Pricing

The iPhone SE 3 was launched at $429, but with all these upgrades, a price hike seems inevitable. A previous report suggests it could start at $499, which will be an understandable jump for all these upgrades.

And if Apple can keep the SE 4 under $500, it would be a strong contender in the mid-range market. But if the price creeps closer to $600, it might struggle against older iPhones or Android alternatives.

9. Is It Worth Waiting?

With all the upgrades Apple is expected to pack into the next iPhone SE, it’s absolutely worth the wait. You will be getting iPhone 16-level performance, a modern design with an OLED display, a USB-C port, Apple Intelligence, and a reliable set of cameras—all for well under $500. If the reports hold true, the SE 4 could be one of the best budget iPhones yet.

Top 5 Smartwatch Brands You Can Trust in 2025

Smartwatches have become an essential part of modern lifestyles, offering a perfect blend of style, functionality, and health tracking. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast, a tech-savvy professional, or someone who simply enjoys convenience on the wrist, choosing the right smartwatch brand is crucial. Among the sea of options available, a few brands stand out for their reliability, innovation, and user experience. Here’s a closer look at five smartwatch brands you can trust:

Apple Watch

1. Apple

Apple has dominated the smartwatch industry since the launch of the first Apple Watch in 2015. The seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem makes it the go-to choice for iPhone users. With its refined design, powerful performance, and extensive health-tracking features, the Apple Watch sets the benchmark for smartwatches.

The latest models, such as the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 10, offer advanced capabilities like on-device Siri, double-tap gestures, blood oxygen monitoring, ECG, and crash detection. Apple’s focus on health and safety is evident with features such as fall detection, temperature sensing, and even the potential introduction of blood pressure monitoring in future models. The watchOS platform continues to evolve, providing users with enhanced customization, fitness tracking, and third-party app support.

Battery life has historically been a weak point for Apple Watches, with most models offering around 18 to 36 hours of usage. However, the Ultra 2 extends battery life significantly, catering to adventure seekers and endurance athletes. While Apple Watches are on the expensive side, they are the best choice for those who want a high-quality smartwatch that works flawlessly with their iPhones.

Samsung has consistently been a strong competitor in the smartwatch space, particularly for Android users. The Galaxy Watch lineup, now featuring models like the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra, offers premium designs, advanced health tracking, and deep integration with Samsung’s ecosystem.

Samsung smartwatches run on Wear OS, co-developed with Google, ensuring access to a wide range of apps. The latest models feature FDA-approved sleep apnea detection, heart rate monitoring, ECG, and blood pressure tracking, making them some of the most health-conscious smartwatches on the market. Additionally, Samsung’s BioActive Sensor provides accurate health data, and the watches support AI-powered fitness tracking.

For those seeking extreme durability, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is built with a Grade 4 titanium frame and offers features such as 10ATM water resistance, multi-sport tracking, and Functional Threshold Power (FTP) for cyclists. Samsung also offers strong battery life, with the Galaxy Watch Ultra lasting up to 100 hours in power-saving mode. If you own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, Samsung Watches are the best fit due to their deep software integration, including Samsung Wallet, camera control, and seamless call management.

3. Amazfit

Amazfit has gained popularity among users who want feature-packed smartwatches without spending a fortune. The brand, powered by Zepp OS, is known for its excellent battery life, diverse sports modes, and comprehensive health-tracking features. Unlike Apple and Samsung, Amazfit smartwatches work equally well with both Android and iOS devices.

Recent launches like the Amazfit GTR 4 New, Bip 5 Unity, and Amazfit Active 2 offer impressive features such as AMOLED displays, built-in GPS, blood oxygen monitoring, and advanced sleep tracking. Amazfit’s fitness tracking capabilities are robust, with over 150 sports modes, automatic activity recognition, and built-in AI coaching through Zepp Coach.

One of the biggest advantages of Amazfit smartwatches is their extended battery life, with most models lasting between 10 to 14 days on a single charge. This makes them ideal for users who dislike frequent charging. Despite being more affordable than Apple and Samsung smartwatches, Amazfit watches deliver reliable performance, making them a great option for budget-conscious consumers who still want a premium smartwatch experience.

The company’s smartwatch lineup includes everything from the affordable Watch Fit 3, which is ideal for casual users and fitness enthusiasts, to the Huawei Watch GT 5, which offers a more premium experience with extended battery life and a refined design. For those seeking flagship features, the Huawei Watch 4 Pro delivers advanced health tracking and standalone connectivity, while luxury seekers can opt for the Watch Ultimate Design Gold, a high-end model crafted with 18K gold accents.

Huawei smartwatches excel in health and fitness tracking, offering essential features like heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, SpO2 measurement, and multiple sports modes. The watches also offer extensive battery life, with most models lasting several days or even up to two weeks on a single charge, making them a great choice for users who dislike frequent recharging.

Huawei smartwatches work with both Android and iOS, although certain features, such as third-party app support, may be limited due to software restrictions. If you’re looking for a premium smartwatch with a stylish design and strong fitness capabilities, Huawei is a brand worth considering.

Garmin watches are built for endurance, with features like SATIQ multi-band GPS, topographic maps, and detailed running metrics. The Fenix 8 series, for instance, offers hill score tracking, endurance scores, and dynamic round-trip routing, catering to serious athletes and outdoor explorers. The Forerunner series, on the other hand, provides adaptive training plans, morning reports, and race predictions, making it ideal for runners.

Gramin also comes with superior battery life, with some models lasting up to a month on a single charge. Additionally, Garmin smartwatches offer solar charging options, further extending usage time. Unlike other brands that focus on lifestyle features, Garmin prioritizes health metrics, providing deep insights into heart rate variability, stress tracking, and sleep quality.

While Garmin watches don’t offer extensive third-party app support like Apple or Wear OS devices, they excel in fitness tracking and reliability. If you’re a serious athlete or an outdoor adventurer, Garmin is the best smartwatch brand for your needs.

Amazfit offers budget-friendly smartwatches with impressive battery life, while Huawei stands out with stylish designs and long-lasting performance. For athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, Garmin remains the best choice, thanks to its specialized fitness tracking and rugged build quality.

Each of these brands has its strengths, ensuring that whatever your requirements may be, there is a smartwatch that fits your needs perfectly. Whether you prioritize fitness tracking, battery life, or a premium design, these five brands are among the most reliable in the smartwatch industry today.
