<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-449111 " src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-Air-5-Geekbench.png?x44794" alt="" width="437" height="537" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-Air-5-Geekbench.png 676w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-Air-5-Geekbench-244x300.png 244w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-Air-5-Geekbench-342x420.png 342w" sizes="(max-width: 437px) 100vw, 437px" /></p>
<p>The M1 powered iPad Air 5, which is showing up as <a href="https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/13520836" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPad 13,17 on Geekbench</a> has managed a score of 1711 points on the single-core test and 7233 points on the multi-core test. The results are on par with the current 11-inch iPad Pro which also rocks the M1 chip and usually scores around 1718 in single-core tests and 7313 in multi-core tests.</p>
<p>The listing also reveals that the Cupertino giant has not downclocked the M1 chip on the iPad Air 5 which is showing a clock speed of 3.20 Ghz. This is the real surprise here as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> has not downclocked it as they did with the A15 Bionic chip on the sixth-gen <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-ipad-mini-2021/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPad mini</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-353316 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/apple-m1.png?x44794" alt="Apple m1 chip" width="715" height="402" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/apple-m1.png 715w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/apple-m1-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/apple-m1-696x391.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 715px) 100vw, 715px" /></p>
<p>For those unaware, the M1 chip is a powerful processor from Apple which was first introduced with the MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini in November 2020. The chip consists of an 8‑core CPU, 8‑core GPU, and a 16‑core Neural Engine.</p>
<h3>iPad Air (5th-generation) specs &amp; features</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-447936 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="iPad Air 5" width="1024" height="683" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPad-AIr-5.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>The iPad Air features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina Display with 1640 x 2360p resolution, a peak brightness of 500 nits, and HDR support. Apple has made no reference to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/promotion">ProMotion</a> so it has a standard 60Hz refresh rate. It also offers P3 wide color gamut, True Tone, and an anti-reflective screen coating.</p>
<p>Internally, the tablet is powered by Apple Silicon’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m1">M1 processor</a> paired with 8GB unified memory. It also features 5G connectivity.</p>
<p>For photography, the device gets a 12-megapixel camera sensor on the back and a 12-megapixel sensor on the front, which supports the Centre Stage feature from Apple.</p>
<p>The power button on the tablet also includes a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> sensor for biometric authentication, which is located at the top of the device. It also comes with landscape stereo speakers. There’s also a USB Type-C port with data transfers up to 10Gbps.</p>
<p>Similar to the previous-generation model of the iPad Air, this one too is compatible with accessories from the company, including <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-pencil">Apple Pencil</a>, Magic Keyboard, Smart Keyboard Folio, and Smart Folio covers.</p>
<p>The Apple iPad Air comes in five colors — Space Grey, Starlight, Pink, Blue, and Purple. It has a starting price of $599 for the base model with Wi-Fi-only connectivity and 64GB internal storage. The device is currently available for pre-order and will start retailing from March 18th.</p>

<p>The new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> iPad Air comes with the same design as its predecessor but has updated internals and now has support for 5G connectivity.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-447923 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple iPad Air 2022" width="1600" height="840" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1-300x158.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1-768x403.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1-696x365.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1-1068x561.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-1-800x420.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></p>
<p>The tablet features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina Display that is claimed by the company to have a peak brightness of 500 nits and HDR support. Also, Apple has made no reference to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/promotion">ProMotion</a> so it has a standard refresh rate. It also offers P3 wide color gamut, True Tone, and an anti-reflective screen coating.</p>
<p>Internally, the product is powered by Apple Silicon&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m1">M1 processor</a>. This is the same chip that is powering the latest iPad Pro and was first used in the Mac products. The processor has an 8-core CPU and is touted to be 60 percent faster than A14 Bionic which is used in the last generation iPad Air.</p>
<p>Taking care of the photography needs is a 12-megapixel camera sensor on the back, similar to its predecessor. On the front side, the company has upgraded the camera sensor to 12-megapixel, which also supports the Centre Stage feature from Apple.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-447925 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple iPad Air 2022" width="1720" height="962" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2.jpg 1720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2-768x430.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2-1024x573.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2-696x389.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2-1068x597.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPad-Air-2022-2-751x420.jpg 751w" sizes="(max-width: 1720px) 100vw, 1720px" /></p>
<p>The power button on the tablet also includes a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> sensor for biometric authentication, which is located at the top of the device. It also comes with landscape stereo speakers. There&#8217;s also a USB Type-C port with data transfers up to 10Gbps.</p>
<p>The Apple iPad Air comes in five colors &#8212; Space Grey, Starlight, Pink, Blue, and Purple. It has a starting price of $599 for the base model with Wi-Fi-only connectivity and 64GB internal storage. The company is also offering a 256GB internal storage model as well as a model with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G connectivity</a> support. It will be up for pre-orders from 11th March and will be available for purchase from 18th March.</p>

At the event, the company is expected to launch a new iPhone SE and iPad Air.</p>
<p>Now, a new report has surfaced online which reveals other products that the Cupertino-based giant has up its sleeves to be launched at the upcoming event.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-423110 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple Logo" width="5819" height="3879" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash.jpg 5819w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/laurenz-heymann-wAygsCk20h8-unsplash-1920x1280.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 5819px) 100vw, 5819px" /></p>
<p>In the Power On newsletter, <em>Bloomberg&#8217;s</em> Mark Gurman has said that a new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-mac-mini">Mac Mini</a> could be launched during Tuesday&#8217;s launch event. It also adds that the Cupertino-based giant could also preview a new external monitor.</p>
<p>The report adds that Apple completed development on the next-generation external display &#8220;months ago&#8221; and had planned to launch it shortly after it debuted the 14-inch and 16-inch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-macbook-pro">MacBook Pro</a> models.</p>
<p>For those who are unaware, the technology giant has been working on two external displays, with one of them being a direct successor to the high-end Pro Display XDR and another being a more affordable consumer-level display.</p>
<p>Based on the information available for so, it appears that we will get to see the next-generation iPhone SE and iPad Air with 5G connectivity support at the upcoming launch event, along with a new monitor from the brand, as well as new Mac models powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m2">M2 chipset</a>.</p>
<p>A couple of days ago, it was reported that Apple is working on a new Studio Display with 7K screen resolution and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a13">A13 Bionic chipset</a>. However, the launch of this high-end product is expected to take place in 2023.</p>

<p>The event from Apple, named &#8220;Peek Performance,&#8221; will be live-streamed by the company on 8th March at 10 am PT. As is the case with Apple, the company has not officially confirmed which products will get launched.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-446890 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple March 8th 2022 Launch Event" width="1472" height="1434" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event.jpg 1472w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event-300x292.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event-768x748.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event-1024x998.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event-696x678.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event-1068x1040.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-March-2022-Event-431x420.jpg 431w" sizes="(max-width: 1472px) 100vw, 1472px" /></p>
<p>Based on the reports so far, it&#8217;s highly likely that the Cupertino-based technology giant will be launching the next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-se">iPhone SE</a> which will come with support for 5G connectivity. It is also said to unveil the fifth-generation Apple iPad Air.</p>
<p>The Apple iPhone SE, which is a low-cost offering from the brand, is expected to continue with the same design as the current generation model, which means that it could retain the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> feature which isn&#8217;t found in any other smartphone from Apple.</p>
<p>Internally, the upcoming smartphone is expected to come powered by the Apple A15 Bionic processor, feature better cameras, and come with support for 5G. Similarly, the new iPad Air is also expected to have a new CPU and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G support</a>.</p>
<p>There have been rumors about Apple planning to launch the Apple Silicon <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m2">M2 chipset</a> as well as new Mac devices powered by this unannounced processor. However, it&#8217;s unlikely to get launched at the event scheduled next week.</p>

<p>The news arrives from the latest <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2021-12-05/apple-verizon-t-mobile-at-t-iphone-13-apple-watch-ipad-rebates-not-working-kwtm0hum" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Power On newsletter</em></a> from Mark Gurman (Via <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2021/12/05/apple-new-products-to-expect-in-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9to5Mac</em></a>). In this report, Gurman shared information regarding the upcoming launches from Apple for 2022. The Cupertino based giant is apparently planning to launch a new iPad Pro design that features built in support for wireless charging. The changes doesn&#8217;t end there for the iPad family, as even the iPad Air and base iPad models will receive an update as well.</p>
<p>Furthermore, Gurman claimed that the iPhone maker will be releasing a redesigned MacBook Air next year, which will be launched next to a &#8220;revamped, high end iMac with Apple Silicon.&#8221; Alongside these, the company also aims on a new entry level MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and even an updates Mac mini sometime for next year. Arriving at wearables, the brand is reportedly seeking to launch three new models of its Apple Watch. This would include the base model, the SE variant, and even a ruggedized version as well for athletes and adventure sports enthusiasts.</p>

Additionally, the annual flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-14/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 14</a> series launch, and the release of its highly anticipated first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-ar-vr-headset/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">mixed augmented (AR/VR) headset</a> as well. <p>According to <a href="http://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=3411" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>TheElec</em> </a>report, the joint project has been called off due to certain reasons, which includes either the single stack structure of OLED panels or profitability or perhaps even both. Sources close to the matter revealed this information. For those unaware, a single stack is the widely used OLED panel structure where red, green, and blue form one emission layer. However, the Cupertino based giant is not &#8220;satisfied&#8221; because of the brightness levels of single stack OLED panels.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the iPhone maker is also wary of the panel&#8217;s lifespan as its customers are more inclined to hold onto their iPads for longer than its iPhones, which see a more aggressive upgrade cycle. At the moment, Apple is reportedly planning on moving to a two stack tandem structure for its first OLED iPad. This stack offers two red, green, and blue emission layers instead of a single one. This, in turn, helps double the brightness while also extending the panel&#8217;s life by up to four times.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-412451 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPad-Mini.png?x44794" alt="Apple" width="944" height="438" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPad-Mini.png 944w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPad-Mini-300x139.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPad-Mini-768x356.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPad-Mini-696x323.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPad-Mini-905x420.png 905w" sizes="(max-width: 944px) 100vw, 944px" /></p>
<p>Samsung currently offers single stack structure and is either not able to, or willing to supply two stack technology. The sources also added that profitability might be a major factor as well. So, shifting to a two stack technology for OLED iPad Air that might not be sold for a long time is an unsure investment for Samsung.</p>

Apparently, the company will be launching an iPad model that will sport a 10.9 inch OLED display panel in 2022.</p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://www.displaysupplychain.com/blog/oled-panel-revenues-forecasted-to-exceed-60b-in-2025-helped-by-increased-it-market-penetration" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Display Supply Chain Consultants</em></a> report (Via <a href="https://www.imore.com/another-report-says-apple-bringing-oled-109-inch-ipad" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iMore</a>), the Cupertino based giant will launch an iPad that sports a 10.9 inch AMOLED display panel next year. This report is also in line with some recent reports that claimed that Apple would bring an OLED panel on an iPad model. Furthermore, it is also reported that the iPhone maker would also include OLED panels in the upcoming 11 inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro models as well in 2023.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-385382 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image.png?x44794" alt="Apple iPad Pro" width="817" height="435" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image.png 817w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-300x160.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-768x409.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-696x371.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image-789x420.png 789w" sizes="(max-width: 817px) 100vw, 817px" /></p>
<p>DSSC added that the brand would launch two iPads with OLEDs in 2023, while in 2022, it would be releasing its first OLED iPad that will sport a 10.86 inch panel. These display panels will be solely supplied by Samsung Display, the South Korean company&#8217;s display unit. At the moment, the only iPad with a 10.9 inch panel is the iPad Air. So, the OLED iPad in question might be the upcoming 2022 iPad Air model. So, the Air versions might be seeing a major upgrade.</p>

<p>According to a <a href="http://www.macotakara.jp/blog/rumor/entry-40802.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>MacOtakara</em> </a>report (Via <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/01/06/2021-ipad-predicted-to-resemble-ipad-air-no-major-changes-coming-for-ipad-pro" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em></a>), a source from the Chinese supply chain has claimed that the low cost iPad will still retain a 10.2 inch display, but will arrive in a thinner and lighter form factor, of 6.3mm and 460 grams. At the moment, the 8th gen iPad that is currently available features a thickness of 7.5mm and weighs about 490 grams. So, this is a noticeable difference between the two generations.</p>

<p>Despite becoming slimmer and lighter, the upcoming 9th generation of Apple iPad will also carry features that are similar to the current generation. Furthermore, the report claims that it will still feature a Lightning port along with a Touch ID on the physical home button. The source also added that the 9th generation iPad will continue to feature a full lamination display, with an anti reflective coating, P3 wide color gamut support, and True Tone as well.</p>

<p>Talking about the new iPad Air, Bob Borchers said that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/touch-id">Touch ID</a> sensor embedded in the power button in a much smaller form factor is an &#8220;incredible feat of engineering.&#8221; He says that the narrow aspect ratio made it a challenging implementation given that the sensor needed to be &#8220;incredibly sensitive&#8221; to capture a broader view of the fingerprint.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-342451 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020.jpg?x44794" alt="iPad Air 2020" width="4056" height="2400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020.jpg 4056w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-768x454.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-1024x606.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-696x412.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-1068x632.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-710x420.jpg 710w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-1920x1136.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4056px) 100vw, 4056px" /></p>
<p>On the other hand, John Ternus explains much effort was put in to ensure that the Touch ID sensor and the antenna on the cellular model, which is placed in the top portion of the enclosure, didn&#8217;t interfere with each other given that both are sensitive. He added that &#8220;hardcore silicon and engineering&#8221; went to ensure that the sensor delivers the same level of security as previous models.</p>
<p>Borchers also notes that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/15/the-new-ipad-air-is-the-first-device-with-a-5nm-chip-8th-gen-ipad-tags-along/">new iPad Air</a> comes with an increased on-device processing power thanks to the introduction of the Neural Engine. It also brings more powerful capabilities along with a greater level of privacy for the users.</p>

<p>The new iPad Air is the first device from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> to come powered by the A14 Bionic chipset, which is built on the 5nm process and will also be powering the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-12">iPhone 12</a> models. The Hexa-core processor has 11.8 billion transistors and boasts a 40% improvement in CPU performance and a 30% increase in GPU performance.</p>
<p>As for the design, it ditches the thick bezels for slimmer and uniform ones. It features a 10.9-inch liquid retina display along with anti-reflective coating, P3 color gamut, and True Tone support. It packs a 7MP f/2.0 selfie camera and the same 12MP f/1.8 rear camera available on the iPad Pro. It also has a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/usb-type-c">USB-C port</a> with support for 20W fast charging.</p>

And with the advent of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/05/huawei-mate-x-sale-september/">foldables</a>, things could look even worse for the tablet market. But in Q2 2019, it did fairly well in China. IDC reports that the tablet market grew by 2.3% YoY in China in Q2 2019.</p>
<p>The growth was driven by the consumer tablet market, registering an 8% increase YoY in the second quarter. The commercial tablet market didn&#8217;t fare so well, registering a decline of 15.2% YoY.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> takes the lead in the Chinese tablet market with the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ipad-air"> iPad Air</a> being really popular among customers. In fact, IDC notes that the Air is even more popular than the iPad Mini. The Cupertino giant shipped 2.33 million units in Q2 2019, up by 0.7% YoY and taking a huge 41.4% market share in the same period.</p>
<p>In second place is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> shipping 1.54 million units and thereby continuing its impressive growth in the region. The Chinese telecommunications giant grabbed a share of 27.4% of the market, registering a solid 17.1% YoY growth, driven by its flagship<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mediapad-m6-8-4/"> MediPad M6</a> lineup. IDC notes that Huawei&#8217;s dual-brand strategy is particularly successful in the low-tier cities in China, which is helping it grow steadily.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_200464" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-200464" style="width: 900px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-200464" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Pad 4" width="900" height="511" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-300x170.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-768x436.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-1024x582.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-200464" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi Mi Pad 4</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>In third place is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a>, bouncing back in terms of shipments in Q2 2019. The smartphone maker shipped 340,000 units in this period, which was an astounding 430.6% YoY growth. It&#8217;s not surprising given that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-plus-tablet/">Xiaomi&#8217;s Mi Pad 4</a> lineup was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/14/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-plus-is-official-with-10-1-inch-display-8260mah-battery-for-1899-yuan-275/">announced by the end of Q2 2019</a> and does not really reflect in the shipments accounted for in the same period. The Mi Pad 4 seems to be doing really well, helping the brand jump up to the third place.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/12/indias-core-telcos-to-leave-huawei-out-of-their-core-5g-contracts/">India&#8217;s core telcos to leave Huawei out of their core 5G contracts</a></strong></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a> occupies the fourth place, slipping down by one position in the table as compared to last year. Its tablet shipments in China also registered a 33% decline YoY. Finally, in the fifth position is Microsoft. The Windows OS maker did really well this quarter shipping around 200K units which is a 68% increase from last year. IDC adds that its partnership with JD and other promotions helped the company increase its shipments in the last quarter.</p>
<p>Finally, IDC reports that 10 to 11-inch screen size and 4GB + 64GB configuration are becoming standard among consumer tablets in the second quarter of 2019. The commercial tablet market is on the decline, but there is hope after <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> becomes mainstream and tablets become an integral part of medical, government, education, and security industries.</p>

<p>According to foreign media, the Dutch website has been posted the front panle of upcoming Apple iPad Air, the picture showing the new next geneartion of iPad Air will has similar design with iPhone that has single one-piece design.<br />
<span id="more-24286"></span><br />
According to the leaked picture, the next generation iPad Air will has small changes in the design since the upcoming iPad Air will replace the original independent panel and screen. This design will help further reduce the thickness of the device, thus leaving more space for batteries or other components.</p>
<p>The Co-founder of iFixIt.com website,  Kyle Wayans has said that the leaked picture is high reliability since the molded design is also similar with macBook Pro. While this process will enable the integration of the front panel maintenance costs, but maintenance is not the focus of Apple, iPhone has adopted this design.</p>
<p>KGI Securities analyst Kuo Ming-Chi had expected that the next generation iPad Air and Retina iPad mini version will be released in the third quarter of this year, and will add a Touch ID fingerprint recognition.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/20140425083700840.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-22514" alt="20140425083700840" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/20140425083700840.jpg?x44794" width="500" height="312" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/20140425083700840.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/20140425083700840-300x187.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p align="center">File photograph</p>
<p>       Sources say that because of fierce price wars, profit has been going down, causing the quality of knock-offs being made to suffer.</p>
<p>Apple plans to release new 9.7 inch and 7.9 inch iPad tablets late this year. At the same time, they plan to cut the market price of the iPad Air and iPad mini. This would start another price war with their competitors.</p>
<p>According to 2014 estimations, the factory price of 7 inch tablet knock-offs has dropped to somewhere between $30-$40 (about 187RMB-250RMB). As their size grows by an inch, the factory price increases by $10 (around 62RMB). Therefore, the factory price of a 10 inch tablet knock-off is estimates to be somewhere between $70 (about 437RMB) and $80 (about 499RMB)</p>

<p>For a while now, Apple iPad still has not significant changes, when viewed from the side of the design. But at the launch event which took on Wednesday (October 23rd), the Apple design team decided to give a new design for new Apple iPad device.<br />
<span id="more-17398"></span><br />
In a launch event held in San Francisco, Apple iPad shrink the size to 9.7 inches, reducing the total of weight and also streamline the overall body. With the draft approaching shape iPad Mini, Apple also gave a new name to its flagship tablet: iPad Air.</p>
<p>And we also comparing the iPad Air with Google Nexus 10, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and Amazon Kindle Fire 8.9-inch HDX version, are three tablets that should start preparing themselves for iPad Air.</p>
<p>But most analysts chose to waive the three names just now and prefer the Nokia Lumia 2520 as the toughest competitor for iPad Air. Because the Nokia Lumia 2520 has specification that is seen could match with the iPad Air.</p>
<p>In terms of resolution and picture quality, the iPad Air has excelled far enough. But Lumia 2520 has a secret weapon, the system has built-in LTE networks. In addition, the Nokia Lumia 2520 is also has quite low price tag. While Apple is actually asking for $ 100 USD if the consumer wants an LTE version of the iPad Air.</p>
<div style="display: none"><a href='http://best-paper-writing-services.com/' title='writing paper'>writing paper</a></div>
<p>When viewed in general , Apple is still superior, especially in terms of taking care of &#8220;ecosystem&#8221;. The reason, consumers have been able to use the iPad Air for iLife and iWork for free. If Google and Microsoft still has not been able to develop ecosystem-based applications, will most likely iPad Air casually strolled amid intense competition. </p>
