ASUS Zenfone 10 survives durability test

The ASUS Zenfone 10’s display is equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus. It gets scratched at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. The device has an aluminium frame on all sides and it gets scratched in the scrape test. The back panel on the Zenfone 10 features a rubberized textured plastic that offers a good grip. However, it is easily prone to scratches with sharp objects.

In the burn test, the Zenfone 10’s display withstands flame for about 30 seconds after which it succumbs to dead pixel. The YouTuber says that the damage is permanent. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner after getting additional scratches works slowly.

Coming to the bend test, the ASUS Zenfone 10 survives getting snapped. However, we could notice a slight flex when it was bent from both sides with ample pressure. Asus’ organizational restructuring results in layoffs

In June, Asus released an internal letter to its employees announcing an upcoming organizational restructuring. Despite assuring its employees that there would be no job loss, it reportedly reduced its workforce in the PC department in July. This affected employees in both Taiwan and Suzhou, China. However, the company’s downsizing efforts have not ceased with this move.

Recently, an individual with knowledge of the situation revealed that several units within the commercial department were informed that a significant reduction would occur, affecting teams such as engineers and procurement, resulting in a 50% workforce reduction.

Initially, Asus had communicated plans for the commercial computer team to transition to the mobile phone product department. Asus says No to bootloader unlocking on Zenfone 10 and future phones

When the debate between Android and iOS heats up, the former side often highlights Android’s customizable features, including the ability of Android phones to unlock the bootloader. While most manufacturers still provide this functionality, Asus seems to have moved away from it. The company has reportedly disabled the bootloader on devices such as the Zenfone 9, Zenfone 10, and upcoming phones.

Asus’ tech team recently told a user that they can no longer unlock the bootloader on Zenfones, and this will not change in the future (Via Android Authority). The user was asking about unlocking the Zenfone 9. The Asus support email was very clear that unlocking will not be an option for both the Zenfone 9 and Zenfone 10.

This news may not please users who like to install custom ROMs and third-party apps. For those who don’t know, unlocking the bootloader is the process of removing the security restrictions that prevent you from modifying the software on your Android device. This allows you to install custom ROMs, root your device, and perform other advanced tasks.

There’s no official word yet on whether Asus is really cracking down on bootloader unlocking. Also, a Reddit user is saying that the company’s developer contact on their Telegram channel isn’t aware of any such situation.
