Asus’ new Zenbook S 13 OLED laptop weighs just 1kg

These Meteor Lake chips, unveiled by Intel in December, promise better power efficiency and are optimized for on-device AI tasks. There is also a new Copilot key on the keyboard, a feature becoming increasingly common in 2024 laptops.

At CES 2024, Lenovo unveiled an innovative wireless keyboard and mouse set that utilizes mechanical energy and solar power for charging, eliminating the need for conventional charging methods. This system called the Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo, combines mechanical movement and solar irradiation to sustain the power requirements of these peripherals.

Lenovo’s concept keyboard boasts a slim solar panel for efficient solar energy capture. It also includes a unique circular fidget button that, when rotated for around five minutes, generates enough energy for approximately 30 minutes of typing. This feature serves as a convenient alternative power source when solar energy is not accessible.

Similarly, the mouse in this kit is equipped with an innovative feature: a built-in hand crank. Extending and winding this crank for just a minute can provide up to 30 minutes of battery life for active usage. This feature ensures that the mouse remains functional even in environments lacking solar exposure.

Although keyboards and mice generally have low power requirements, the integration of these energy-harvesting technologies in Lenovo’s concept represents a significant step forward in sustainable and user-friendly design. It demonstrates that even small, everyday devices can contribute to reducing dependency on traditional power sources.

Lenovo’s concept keyboard and mouse also offer Bluetooth and 2.4G dual-mode connectivity for versatile pairing with various devices. Lenovo took the wraps off multiple computers at CES 2024. Most of them are updated versions of existing models.

But there are some new ones like ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid, which has a built-in Android tablet. Here in this article, let’s check out IdeaPad Slim 5i, the first-ever IdeaPad laptop with a 15.3-inch 16:10 display.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i Specifications

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i is powered by up to either Intel Core 7 150U or Intel Core i7 13700H processors. It only comes with Intel integrated graphics.

As for memory, the laptop can be availed with up to 32GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB PCIe M.2. AS for software, it ships with Microsoft Windows 11.

As mentioned earlier, the notebook comes in two sizes: 15.3-inch and 15-inch. However, the specs remain common. The displays offer a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA), a 60Hz refresh rate, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and 300 nits peak brightness level.

The ports on it include 2 x USB Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen 1), 2 x USB Type-A (USB 3.2 Gen 1), an HDMI 1.4, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also comes with a MicroSD card slot and dual stereo speakers.

Depending on the variant, the laptop arrives with either an FHD webcam or an IR FHD webcam with a ToF sensor for Windows Hello face authentication. All versions feature a privacy shutter and dual microphone array.

The notebook offers up to WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Last but not least, it draws energy from a 76Whr battery.

CES 2024 is in full swing with a host of product announcements leaping in every now and then. Audiomakers Sennheiser announced new earbuds whereas JBL launched the latest earbuds, headphone collection, and more. JBL also updated its Bluetooth speaker lineup with new offerings. These include the JBL Xtreme 4, Clip 5, and Go 4 with the last two being portable offerings.

The JBL Xtreme 4 is a cylindrical-shaped speaker. Audio-wise, the speaker is equipped with two woofers, two powerful drivers, and dual bass radiators. There is AI Sound Boost that analyzes sound in real-time with AI algorithm for delivering a powerful and crystal-clear sound. The speaker is backed by a replaceable battery that is claimed to offer 24 hours of usage. There is a power bank feature for charging smartphones.

The JBL Clip 5 features a slightly wider carabiner that allows users to clip on to more items. JBL says that this speaker packs 40 percent increase in driver power and an updated sound system delivering 15 percent louder and 10 percent more bass compared to the previous model. The speaker is said to deliver a battery life of 12 hours.

Meanwhile, the JBL Go 4 has received its fourth iteration. It is the smallest speaker in the brand’s portfolio. The audio maker says that the latest offering packs more robust sound and punchier bass than its predecessor. The Go 4 is rated to 7 hours of battery life on a single charge.

The JBL Xtreme 4, Clip 5, and Go 4 are IP67-certified dust and water-resistant. The trio supports Bluetooth 5.3 with LE audio. The brand has also introduced Auracast on all speakers which allows the ability to connect the speakers to multiple audio devices.

Lenovo announced a bunch of laptops at CES 2024. They fall under almost all the categories of notebooks sold by the company.

One of them is the Yoga Slim 7i. This computer is different from the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon that we reviewed about a year ago.

The newer model is a thin and light Intel Evo-certified laptop with H series processors. Whereas, the older Carbon edition is more about portability as it weighs under a kilogram and houses Intel P series processors.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i features a 14-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA), a 60Hz refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The panel supports Dolby Vision and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

At CES 2024, TCL announced its NXTPAPER 3.0 technology. The company also unveiled smartphones and tablets using this tech.

TCL took wraps off two tablets at the 2024 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show. They are called TCL NXTPAPER 14 Pro and TCL TAB 10 NXTPAPER 5G.

Both these devices are heading to the US. They are eye-friendly and offer 5G connectivity.

As mentioned in the beginning, they come with TCL NXTPAPER 3.0 tech. This technology filters up to 61% of harmful blue light. At the same time, it retains sharp images, vibrant colors, deep contrast, and natural motion.

The tech along with the Circularly Polarized Light (CPL) panels on the tablets provides a visual experience close to reading books in natural light. There’s also DC dimming support, which ensures a flicker-free visual experience in any scenario.

Talking about raw specs, the TCL NXTPAPER 14 Pro flaunts a 14-inch display with a 2.8K resolution. It is touted as a slim and lightweight tablet with a rear camera placement similar to the OnePlus Pad.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Finally, it is backed by a 12,000mAh battery and supports 33W charging.

On the other hand, the TCL Tab 10 NXTPAPER 5G is built around a smaller 10.4-inch 2K display. It is powered by an unnamed chipset with an octa-core CPU and boots Android 14.

MSI Unveils Waves of AI-Ready Laptops & Its First Gaming Handheld at CES 2024

While portable devices are essential, enjoying content on a larger screen offers an incomparable experience. Acknowledging this, MSI has combined portability with an 18-inch screen size in its new gaming laptop models. The Titan 18 HX, Raider 18 HX, and Stealth 18 AI Studio models all boast a giant display.

All these laptops feature high-performance processors such as the i9 and offer various Nvidia GeForce GPU choices, ranging from the RTX 4070 to the RTX 4090. They also support DDR5 RAM up to 128 GB, except for the Stealth 18 AI Studio, which has a maximum limit of 64 GB. Another feature they share on the screen side is the panel technology.

MSI has used MiniLED instead of LCD in all three models. Thanks to the dimming zones provided by this technology, you’ll have color accuracy that challenges OLED screens. Additionally, you’ll achieve the desired brightness for outdoor gaming. The features of each model are as follows:

The Chinese tech giant features a unique 2-in-1 that blends a Microsoft Windows laptop with an Android tablet. This notebook features a Windows PC in the base, which houses the keyboard and key internal specs. On the other hand, the Android tablet part is the display half, which can be detached from the base. To achieve this, the Android tablet features all the essential hardware that ensures a standalone Android experience.

The Windows 11 laptop half is equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor that is paired with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. A large 75Whr battery pack powers this device. If you detach the display, the notebook can still be used by connecting it to an external monitor. Intel Showcases New 14th-Gen Mobile and Desktop CPU Lineup at CES 2024

Intel is stepping up its game in the tech world with its latest 14th Gen mobile and desktop processor lineup. This includes the new HX-series mobile processors, set to rev up 2024’s gaming laptops. Don’t mix these up with the Core Ultra CPUs for laptops; these new processors are an upgrade from the 13th Gen Raptor Lake mobile versions.

The new mobile CPU has an impressive 24 cores and a max clock speed of 5.8GHz

The star of the show is the Intel Core i9-14900HX, tailored for high-performance gaming laptops. It boasts an impressive 24 cores and can reach speeds up to 5.8GHz. But it’s not just about speed – these chips support up to 192GB of DDR5-5600 memory, along with the latest in connectivity like Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thunderbolt 5.

Intel has also beefed up the Core i7 variant. The new Core i7-14700HX now has 20 cores, four more efficiency cores than its predecessor. This upgrade should enhance the performance of multithreaded applications and games.

In the ring with AMD, Intel’s Core i9-14900HX seems to have an edge in most tests compared to AMD’s Ryzen 9 7945HX, although it doesn’t outperform in every game. It’s important to note, however, that Intel hasn’t compared these new chips with its own 13th Gen models. Our previous look at the 14th Gen desktop chips suggested they were more of a refresh than a revolution, especially when stacked against AMD’s top desktop gaming CPUs.

On the desktop front, Intel is also launching its mainstream 14th Gen CPUs. There are 18 new processors in this lineup, including the flagship Core i9-14900. This one also has 24 cores and is designed to be less power-hungry, operating at 65 watts base power. Like its mobile counterparts, these desktop CPUs support up to DDR5-5600 and 192GB of memory and are compatible with existing Intel 600- and 700-series motherboards.

During CES 2024, Lenovo announced a bunch of new laptops, and the Yoga Book 9i is quite an interesting one from the lot. The model features a dual display design and some top notch specs and features. So here are all the details.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i Specs

The new Yoga Book 9i isn’t your typical everyday laptop with a screen and keyboard. This model features a complete dual screen body that features OLED panel on both halves. You might be wondering where the keyboard lies, which is in fact wireless. This means that you can simply place it on the bottom half and use it like a regular keyboard or use it separately from the laptop entirely.

Both screens have a 13.3-inch OLED panel that offers 2880 x 1800 pixel resolution, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR support, 16:10 aspect ratio, and up to 400 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, the Yoga Book 9i is equipped with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor that is paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics. It also houses up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD Gen 4 storage. A large 80Wh battery pack powers this device.

Despite the two panels, it weighs just 1.34 kilograms and offers a 360 degree hinge as well. You can get a 5-megapixel FHD IR webcam that supports Windows Hello face recognition.
