The Honor 9 is Huawei’s latest flagship model which was launched just last week. The device takes over from the delectable Huawei Honor 8 and came with a spectacular curved design with the curvatures at both the front and rear. This design ensures the Huawei Honor 9 has an all-glass body. The Honor 9’s teardown is here, courtesy of myfixguide.com and it provide us with an opportunity to have a glance at the internal components of the flagship.

One notable thing the teardown shows is the lack of screws at the bottom which means the outer covering is probably affixed to the fuselage using glue. Of course, the all-glass body makes it difficult to use a screw on the body so, the display screen and the rear panel were glued to the frame of the Honor 9. The back cover had to be heated for about 2 minutes using a hair dryer and then a little bit with a suction cup before a pick could be inserted around the edges to open it gradually. 

At the bottom, there are only openings for a speaker, a 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port. While there are only two camera openings and an opening for the flash on the back cover. When the back cover is removed, the Honor 9 could be seen to still be using the classic three-stage design in which the upper part is the motherboard, the middle is the battery, the lower is the USB-C board. In order to achieve better heat dissipation, it uses a large piece of graphite thermal stickers to cover the fuselage. After the back is opened, the screws holding the motherboard to the metal plate can then be unscrewed. The entire workmanship is noticeably relatively complex.

The Huawei Honor 9 features a  5.15-inch 1080p display and is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 960 chip with 4GB /6GB RAM as well as 64GB /128GB storage versions. The device also packs a 3200mAh battery and a dual 20MP + 12MP camera similar to the Mate 9 and Huawei P10’s but without the Leica branding. Up front is an 8MP sensor. Huawei‘s Honor 9 is expected to hit the shelves soon and as a result, the device has featured in a couple of leaks recently, including one that purportedly showed its real photo. The real photo. The Honor 9 has now appeared on TENAA where it has been certified.

The TENAA appearance shows us what the specification of the device is likely going to be like and also what the device itself looks like. In this case, the Honor 9 is shown to have two different models, one packing a 4GB RAM and another with 6GB of RAM. In terms of appearance, the Honor 9 comes with a 2.5D curved glass while the back is made with a curvier 3D glass design. It presents with a dimension of 147.3 × 70.9 × 7.45mm, weighing in at 155g.

In other specs, the Honor 9 comes with a 5.15-inch display with a resolution of 1980 x 1080p. The device is powered by an Octa-core 2.4GHz processor which is believed to be a Kirin 960 chip. The device comes with 64GB storage on both the 4GB and 6GB RAM models as no 128GB storage version is listed. On the camera end, the Honor 9 which had been rumored to come with a dual camera setup similar to the Mate 9 and P1, sports a 12MP + 20MP rear camera setup while there is an 8MP sensor at the front.

Huawei’s upcoming Honor brand smartphone dubbed Honor 9 has been in the news for a while now and has almost been confirmed as launching on June 27 but a real live photo of the device is still elusive. Huawei lid over its smartphones is always not so tight, such that we are lucky to have a preview of most of its models (albeit unofficially) before they are launched. But till this moment, that cannot be said of the Honor 9. Well, except this leaked image of the smartphone in the hands of a guy are actually the Huawei Honor 9.

The purported photo of the device popped up on China’s Weibo recently and shows some bit of details of the Honor phone. We must point out that we can’t say for sure if the image is real and even the leakster wasn’t so sure about that as well. However, one prominent detail that we can grasp from the leaked image is the absence of a rear fingerprint sensor on the device.That could mean the Honor 9 is charting a different course from the Honor 8 which featured a rear fingerprint scanner. Due to the large phablet size of the Honor 8, there were some criticisms of that design because of the difficulty which would be encountered while attempting to use the fingerprint sensor during one-handed operation.

As you would have heard by now, the Honor 9 is expected with a dualrear camera and that is featured in the leaked photo. The camera is said to be the same 20MP + 12MP sensors used on the Mate 9 and Huawei P10 but the Honor 9’s would be without the Leica badge.

The photo only revealed the rear view of the device, leaving much of what the front view looks like to our imaginations. We’ll take this with a pinch of salt, though, while we with some other leaks to emerge.

Huawei’s Honor 9 is expected as the company’s next “big thing” for this year. Huawei sure seems to have got a busy itinerary lined up for this year, obviously in its bid to retain its top 3 positions globally and perhaps, surpass the duo of Samsung and Apple who both occupy the first and second spot respectively. That is a tall order but they seem to be on course with the launch of the P10, P10 Plus, Honor V9 and Honor 8 Lite. There are talks of the Huawei Honor 9 joining the list soon as the company is rumored as planning to release the Honor 9 on June 27 in a conference billed to take place in Berlin, Germany.

While we cannot account for the veracity of the claim, the Honor 9 continues to edge towards a possible release as it has reportedly gotten network license certification by China’s telecoms certification agency, TENAA. Three new Huawei models with model numbers STF-AL10, STF-AL00 and STF-TL10 were recently revealed to have gotten network approval and they are believed to be the Honor 9 models.

This joins earlier rumors that the Honor 9 has also gotten radio transmission approval and had also been 3C certified. The 3C certification shows the device will have support for 9V/2A fast charge. Also, Huawei’s Honor president Zhao Ming George seems to have debunked rumors that the Honor 9 will not have a 3.5mm audio jack. The Honor president’s latest comments, coupled with an earlier one also on Weibo, thus means the Honor 9 will likely feature a 3.5mm audio jack after all.

The Honor 9 is said to come with a double glass design on top of a metal body. The device is also expected with a Kirin 960 chip as well as a dual camera setup which is said to be a 12MP + 20MP combination but not with the Leica badge. other likely features include a 4GB/ 6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage models, two-color warm flash, laser focus and a 3200mAh battery.

With up to two flagship devices in its kitty at the moment, Huawei still has no intention of calling it quit or slowing down in its race to a strong finish at the end of the year. The company’s soon-to-be bride is likely the Honor 9 which has been the subject of a couple of leaks and rumours.

The latest rumor surrounding the Huawei Honor 9 borders on its launch date. Latest rumour from some internet users in China is that the Honor 9 would be launched specifically on June 21 with some saying June 20. Before now we’ve heard rumors of the Honor 9 launching towards the end of June with no specific date set but the launch date is  featured on this latest rumor. Now, we cannot be so sure about the rumored launch date as Huawei is yet to issue an official statement on that.

The Honor 9 is expected with the same 12MP+20MP dual camera setup just as the Mate 9 packs but the Leica badge won’t likely feature on this model. In addition, the Honor 9 is said to be tailored to the Xiaomi Mi 6’s design and specs. The leaked images of the device show a striking similarity between the two and the specs seems to align as well. The Huawei Honor 9 is expected with a 5.2 inches display and will be powered by a Kirin 960 backed by 6GB of RAM.

The Honor 9 had also appeared on China’s 3C for certification. From the 3C appearance, the Honor 9 is suspected to be the models STF-AL10, STF-AL00, STF-TL10 which would likely come with support for 5VDC / 2A or 9VDC / 2A charge output. The flagship is also expected with a front fingerprint sensor instead of the rear-mounted stock. The Honor 9 is also rumoured to come priced at 2499 Yuan for the base model. Why do I have a feeling the Honor 8 will be up to take on the Xiaomi Mi 6? We, apart from the specs that almost match each other,  except for a difference in processor type, the Mi 6 and Honor 9 are said to have similar designs. We can’t be so sure about that, though.
