This limited edition device features a new rear panel made of soft vegan leather while retaining its polished sandblasted aluminum frame, as announced by the company in January 2023.

Presently, the Viva Magenta variant of the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion can be purchased on Flipkart at a cost of Rs 39,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration.

The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion Viva Magenta Limited Edition boasts the same specifications as its standard version. It runs on the Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset, along with 8 GB of RAM and a 4,270mAh battery that supports 68W fast charging.

The device is preloaded with Android 12 OS and is equipped with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Its rear camera setup comprises a triple camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It also has an under-display fingerprint scanner for security purposes.

The Motorola Edge 30 is the winner even when it comes to the display. There is no way for the Redmi K50i to compete. The Edge 30 is equipped with an AMOLED panel that is able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.5 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification, as well as an in-display optical fingerprint reader. With the Redmi K50i from Xiaomi sub-brand, you get a disappointing LCD display in terms of image quality. Well, it is not a bad panel with its HDR10 certification and Dolby Vision support, but it is far from the AMOLED display of its rival. This chipset is composed of four Cortex A78 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.85 GHz, four Cortex A55 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2 GHz, and a Mali G610 MC6 GPU. The SoC is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage. The Motorola Edge 30 has the same memory configuration but with a lower-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus mobile platform running at a max frequency of 2.5 GHz and including an Adreno 642L GPU. Both the handsets run Android 12 out of the box, but the user interface of the Motorola is close to stock Android, while the Redmi has a customized user interface based on Android 12.

Camera

The Motorola Edge 30 is equipped with a better rear camera setup. It is composed of a 50 MP main camera (the great Sony IMX766 sensor) including OIS, a 50 MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2 MP depth sensor. The Redmi K50i has a triple camera composed of a midrange-class 64 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro camera: there is definitely no challenge between these two phones. The Motorola is better even when it comes to selfies, thanks to a 32 MP front snapper against just 16 MP found on the Redmi.

Battery

Last but not least, is the battery. The Redmi K50i provides a longer battery life thanks to its huge 5080 mAh battery and it even charges quicker thanks to 67W fast charging. Unfortunately, the battery is the weak point of the Motorola Edge 30: it has a sleeker design, but the capacity is just 4020 mAh.

Motorola Edge 30 starts from Rs. 28,900 / $365 in the Indian market, while the Redmi K50i begins at Rs. 25,999 / $329. If it was not for the small battery, the Motorola Edge 30 would be a much better phone than the K50i. But despite that, it still wins this comparison. Which one would you pick?

It is an amazing device sold at the right price and it is available in the global market, but there is to consider that it has a lot of rivals in the global market and it will not be easy for it to succeed. One of the most interesting rivals is the Motorola Edge 30, equipped with upper-midrange specifications and available with a more affordable price tag. When it comes to the design, we can not avoid giving the gold medal to the Nothing phone (1). This device is a revolution, it comes with a transparent back housing a total of 160 LEDs which can be used for several things and customized. You can use those multiple lights as notification LEDs, but they can also tell you the charging status of your device while it is charging. Further, they can sync with your ringtone, and more. The handset comes with the IP53 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant, it is built with a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and an aluminum frame. The Motorola Edge 30 is one of the thinnest and most lightweight smartphones of 2022, but these are the only interesting points of its design as it is definitely uglier and built with a plastic body.

The Nothing phone (1) and the Motorola Edge 30 are equipped with amazing displays. The former has an OLED panel that is able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.55 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ certification, and a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 just like the glass back. The Motorola Edge 30 has an AMOLED display with one billion colors, a diagonal of 6.5 inches, the HDR10+ certification, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The most important difference between these two panels is the refresh rate, higher on the Motorola Edge 30. Both the handsets feature in-display fingerprint readers and stereo speakers for an improved audio experience, but they lack a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Specs & Software

The hardware departments of these two phones are very similar. They are both powered by the Snapdragon 778G Plus mobile platform by Qualcomm. It is an octa-core chipset built at 6 nm composed of a Cortex A78 CPU with a max frequency of 2.5 GHz, three Cortex A78 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.4 GHz, and four Cortex A55 CPUs with a frequency of 1.8 GHz, paired with an Adreno 642L GPU. What makes the difference is the memory configuration: the Nothing phone (1) offers up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, while the Motorola Edge 30 stops at 8 GB of RAM. The Nothing device runs Nothing OS, very interesting customization with a minimalistic look close to stock Android. But the Motorola Edge 30 has a UI close to stock Android as well.

Camera

Even when it comes to the cameras, the differences between these two phones are just marginal. On the rear side, they both have a 50 MP main sensor with OIS (the Sony IMX766, as you could already expect) and a 50 MP ultrawide camera. But the Motorola Edge 30 adds a 2 MP macro camera, even though it is useless in most of the possible scenarios. Further, the Edge 30 wins the camera comparison because it comes with a superior selfie camera sporting a 32 MP resolution.

Battery

A very important advantage of the Nothing Phone (1) if compared to the Motorola Edge 30 is the battery. Its design is thicker and heavier, but the phone comes with a bigger lithium unit sporting a capacity of 4500 mAh. The Motorola Edge 30 is one of the thinnest and most lightweight phones out there, but its battery capacity is below the average with just 4020 mAh. Both phones feature 33W fast charging, but the Nothing phone (1) adds fast wireless charging with a power of 15W, while the Edge 30 can only be charged with a cable.

Price

The starting price of the Nothing Phone (1) in the European market is €499/$499 and it is currently its street price too. The Motorola Edge 30 can currently be purchased for less than €400/$400. The Nothing phone (1) wins the comparison due to its better design, bigger battery, and wireless charging. Motorola Edge 30 has a starting price of ₹27,999 for the 6GB + 128GB configuration. The 8GB + 128GB configuration on the other hand has a price tag of ₹29,999. It is available in Aurora Green and Meteor Grey colors and can be purchased from Flipkart in India.

HDFC credit card users will get a flat ₹2,000 off on purchasing the Motorola Edge 30. Other than that, Axis bank card users will get 5% cashback when purchasing the device from Flipkart.

After launching the Motorola Edge 30 in Europe in late April and in India last week, the Motorola Edge 30 has finally arrived at Malaysian shores as the cheapest smartphone in the Malaysian market that you can buy with Qualcomm’s 5G-enabled Snapdragon 778G Plus at only RM1,399 (318 USD) on its first pre-order sale.

The Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC powering the Motorola Edge 30 is an overclocked version of last year’s popular Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset found on more premium mid-rangers like the Honor 50, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE and the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G. Although not as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 found on the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, the Snapdragon 778G Plus still packs quite a punch and it is much more power-efficient than its flagship counterpart.

Another feature of the Motorola Edge 30 is the design. Motorola has claimed the device to be the thinnest 5G phone yet in the market with a thickness of just 6.79mm(excluding the camera bump), which beats the previous record owner, the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE which was 6.81mm in thickness. The device also weighs very light at 155g housed within the brand’s matte polycarbonate build.

As for the front, the Motorola Edge 30 is built around a 6.5-inch centered punch-hole 10-bit flat pOLED display. The panel has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and up to a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen supports the DCI-P3 colour gamut and HDR10+ content playback.

The 4,020mAh battery within the Motorola Edge 30 is relatively small by 2022 standards but the device does have support for 33W fast charging to top up the battery in no time.

On the rear, the handset sports a triple camera system comprising a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, another 50MP sensor with a 118° ultra-wide-angle lens and autofocus support for macro shots, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, it uses a 32MP shooter located inside the punch hole.

The device’s official retail price in Malaysia is RM1,599 (364 USD), but Motorola Malaysia is holding a pre-order promotion period from 11th to 16th May 2022, where the device is offered for only RM1,399 (USD 318) with the ongoing RM200 cash rebate promo from the company.

A recent leak revealed that the smartphone is set to debut in India on May 12th. Now, another leak has emerged shedding a light on the Indian pricing of the device. According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, The Motorola Edge 30 will debut in India with an asking price of ₹27,999 ($363).

The tipster adds that the device will have a ₹2,000 ($26) Bank offer at launch, bringing its price down to ₹25,999 ($337). This price tag will likely be for the base configuration of the device.

Motorola Edge 30 specifications

Coming to the specs, the device features a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with HDR10+ and a 144Hz refresh rate. It has a centered punch-hole for the selfie camera. It is also among the thinnest 5G smartphones with a thickness of just 6.79mm.

Under the hood, the device will have a Snapdragon 778G+ chipset which is basically an overclocked Snapdragon 778G. The chipset will come coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage.

The smartphone runs on Android 12-based My UX out of the box and has a 4,020 mAh capacity paired with 33W fast charging.

For optics, the device offers a 50-megapixel main camera OIS and all-pixel focus. The two auxiliary cameras are a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it houses a 32-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

ZTE Axon 40 Series

ZTE has scheduled an event for May 9 (Monday) in China. The conference will kickstart at 2 PM CST and will be live-streamed on Weibo and other popular Chinese video streaming platforms. The company will be debuting the Axon 40 series at this event.

The next-gen flagship smartphone series from ZTE is said to include three models, namely Axon 40, Axon 40 Pro, and Axon 40 Ultra. The top-end Ultra model is expected to arrive with an under-display selfie camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and triple 64MP cameras with wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses.

Sony Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 10 IV

Sony will be hosting an Xperia launch event on May 11 (Wednesday). It will be live-streamed on the company’s official Youtube channel from 4 PM JST.  The firm is expected to announce two new smartphones.

The upcoming two phones from Sony are said to be Xperia 1 IV and Xiaomi 10 IV. Unfortunately, not much is known about these two devices, except for their price and colors.

The flagship Xperia 1 IV is tipped to cost €1,399 in Europe, whereas the mid-range Xperia 10 IV is said to retail at €499.

Motorola Edge 30

A few days back, Motorola unveiled the Motorola Edge 30 in Europe as the world’s thinnest 5G smartphone to date beating the Mi 11 Lite 5G and Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G. The company is now bringing this handset to India on May 12 (Thursday). It is expected to go official via social media announcement at 12 PM IST.

The Motorola Edge 30 comes with a 6.79mm thin body, 6.5-inch 144Hz 10-bit OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC, 50MP (wide, OIS) + 50MP (ultra-wide, macro) + 2MP triple camera setup, 32MP selfie camera, Android 12, 4,020mAh battery, and 33W fast charging support.

New Realme 9 5G and Realme 9

Realme has a launch event scheduled for May 12 (Thursday) in Europe. The conference will begin at 12 PM BST and it will be live-streamed on Youtube. The brand is expected to debut announced two smartphones and a tablet.

The company will be unveiling two handsets for the market, namely Realme 9 and Realme 9 5G. The former will be the same as the model sold elsewhere, however, the latter will be different. The Realme 9 5G for Europe will be a rebranded Realme Q5.

Apart from the aforementioned phones, the first will be also announcing the Realme Pad Mini tablet for the region.

Honor Magic 4 Pro

The Honor Magic 4 Pro was made official at MWC 2022 in late February. The flagship smartphone recently went on sale in China. It is now set to release in Europe on May 12 (Thursday). The device will be announced at a conference in London, which is scheduled to start at 7 PM BST.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro offers features like a 120Hz LTPO OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 50MP (wide) + 50MP (ultra-wide) + 64MP (3.5x telephoto) triple camera setup with an 8×8 dTOF laser focusing system as well as a flicker sensor, and a 12MP selfie camera with a 3D depth sensor.

It also comes with dual stereo speakers, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a 4,500mAh battery, and supports 100W wired/wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.

Last month, Motorola announced the Motorola Edge 30 smartphone in Europe. New information reveals that the Lenovo-owned company will announce the smartphone in the second week of this month (May) in India. The specs of the smartphone are not secret since it has already been launched in Europe.

According to Mukul Sharma (aka Stufflistings), Motorola will be announcing the Motorola Edge 30 on May 12 in India. The tipster claimed that it would be the thinnest and lightest 5G phone in its segment. He added that it will be arriving as India’s first Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset powered smartphone.

Motorola Edge 30 specifications

The Motorola Edge 30 has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution. The screen also supports a 144Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, and HDR10+. It has a 32-megapixel camera for capturing selfies. The back panel of the phone has a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 2-megapixel depth assist lens, and a dual-LED flash unit.

The Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset is present under the hood of the Edge 30. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of storage. It runs on the Android 12 OS and MIUI 13.

The handset houses a 4,020mAh battery that supports 33W charging. It has a side-facing fingerprint scanner. Lastly, it features a water-repellent chassis. There is no word on the pricing of the device for the Indian market. In Europe, it carries a price tag of 449 euros (Rs 36,120).

In related news, Motorola has confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on May 10 in China. It is unclear what the brand is going to announce on the said date. Hopefully, newer reports will spill more information on it.

Motorola Edge 30 was launched a few days back in the European markets with midrange specs. Some of the phone’s highlights include a 144Hz display, 50MP cameras, and 33W fast charging support. The device has now been approved by the Anatel agency in Brazil.

The Anatel certification confirms that the phone carries the model number XT2203-1. and has Wi-FI 6E support with 6GHz frequencies. Apart from this, there’s nothing else to look at. However, since the device has now been approved by Anatel, we expect its Brazilian launch to be near.

Earlier today, Motorola silently launched the extremely attractive Motorola Edge 30 mid-range smartphone. The device has a lot going for it like the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, the 144Hz refresh rate display, and a €450 price tag. So let’s take a closer look at what all the device has to offer.

Design & Display

The younger sibling of the previously launched Motorola Edge 30 Pro, the vanilla Edge 30 shares many design similarities with the Pro variant while going for a flatter and cleaner look. The device has a pill-shaped camera island slightly protruding from the back. The edges of the device are slightly curved and the right side houses the power button and volume rocker. Motorola has claimed the device to be the thinnest 5G phone yet with a thickness of just 6.79mm (excluding the camera bump).

On the front, the device comes with a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with HDR10+ and a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen houses a centered punch-hole for the front camera and has thin bezels going around it.

Specs

Under the hood, the smartphone features a Snapdragon 778G+ SoC which is an overclocked variant of the popular 778G chipset. Paired with the SoC is 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The device runs Android 12 based My UX out of the box which provides a near-stock Android experience. However, due to the device being super thin, it sacrifices the battery, only offering a 4,020 mAh capacity paired with 33W fast charging (TurboPower charger in the box).

Other features offered on the device include dual-sim 5G (sub-6 GHz), Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB-C port. The device does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack and comes with IP52 dust and splash resistance rating. For sound, the Edge 30 features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Cameras

For photography, the Motorola Edge 30 has a triple camera setup. It has a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and all-pixel focus. The all-pixel focus feature uses 100% pixels while focusing on a subject rather than the usual 3% resulting in faster focus and sharper images in any light conditions.

The Edge 30 has another 50-megapixel sensor for its ultra-wide camera with 118° FOV which can also be used as a macro camera. Both the primary and ultrawide cameras are capable of 4K video recording at 30 FPS and 1080P video recording at 60FPS. The third cutout houses a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, we get a 32MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls.

Price & Availability

The Motorola Edge 30 has a starting price of €449.99 for the 8GB + 128GB variant. It will be available in three color options – Aurora Green, Meteor Grey, and Supermoon Silver. The device will soon be launched in select markets including Europe, Asia, Australia, India, Latin America, and the Middle East.

It is an open secret that Motorola is presently working on the Motorola Edge 30 which is expected to arrive as a vanilla model of the Edge 30 Pro, launched in the US as Motorla Edge+. The vanilla Edge 30 has been quite a regular in leak land even though the launch date isn’t in the open just yet. The latest leak is that of the Edge 30’s price tag for the European market.

A retailer in Europe may have listed the Motorola Edge 30 prematurely with the price shown as €549.90 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version. While we cannot independently verify if this listing is genuine, we should point out, nonetheless, that the Edge 30 will have a 6GB RAM version with both the 6GB and 8GB RAM models having 256GB storage options. Thus, the starting price will be lower that this rumoured price tag.

Apart from the price, the leaked listing also contained a summary of the Edge 30 5G’s key specs. This includes a 6.5-inch P-OLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and support for up to 144Hz refresh rate.

The listing also shows that the Motorola Edge 30 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The phone will also run on the latest Android 12 OS and will get its juice from a decent 4,020mAh battery which has support for 33W fast charging.

On the camera aspect, the Edge 30 is shown to pack a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 50MP main sensor, a second 50MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP lens, likely a depth sensor. For selfies, there is a 32MP front camera.

Motorola’s next phone to arrive will be the Motorola Edge 30. As the name suggests, it will be a lower-end variant of the Edge 30 Pro, which was launched a few months back. Last time, we saw the renders of the device, now, the images of the phone have surfaced on the Internet.

The live images of the phone show the back and the front of the device. The smartphone has a punch-hole display with up to a 144Hz refresh rate. On the back, it has a triple camera system on the top left, Motorola branding at the bottom, and the logo in the center. The phone looks somewhat similar to the Edge 30 Pro.

Previously, the phone’s specs were leaked online. The Motorola Edge 30 is said to come with a 6.55-inch P-OLED display. It will be a punch-hole panel with Full-HD+ resolution. The phone will have a 50-megapixel main lens, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide unit, and a 2-megapixel depth assist sensor at the back. On the front, it will have a 32MP lens for selfies and video calls.

Motorola‘s 2022 roadmap was leaked last month revealing 19 devices that the company has planned to launch this year. Out of those, the company has already released models like the Moto G22 and the G52. Now, 91mobiles in collaboration with popular tipster Evan Blass has unveiled “Official” images of the upcoming Motorola Edge 30 smartphone.

The Motorola Edge 30 with the codename Dubai, is the little sibling of the already launched Moto Edge 30 Pro which is reflected in its design. The device has curved edges, with the power button and volume rocker on the right side. The back has a triple camera module with lenses protruding from the pill-shaped camera island.

On the front, we get evenly slim bezels all around the display. The display panel also has a centered punch hole for the front camera.

Motorola Edge 30 specifications (rumored)

The Edge 30 will feature a 6.55-inch P-OLED panel that will produce a Full HD+ resolution and a 144hz refresh rate. Motorola has been launching numerous smartphones across different price points in global markets. According to a new report by 91mobiles, the Lenovo-owned brand has planned as many as 19 devices for international markets. The report has key information on some of the upcoming Edge 30 branded models. It appears that the publication will release another report later to reveal the details of other Motorola phones that are planned for 2022.

Last year, in December, Motorola launched the Motorola Edge X30 in China. This device (codenamed Rogue) has already launched in markets outside China as the Motorola Edge 30 Pro. The Moto G Stylus 2022 (codenamed Milan) and Moto G22 (codenamed Hawaii+) mid-range phones have also been launched in some markets.

The leak claims that there could be a 5G version of the Milan device. Last year, Motorola launched Edge 20, Edge 20 Lite, Edge 20 Fusion, and Edge 20 Pro. This year too, the company is expected to launch multiple phones under the Edge 30 branding.

Frontier, Dubai, Miami, and Dubai+ are the codenames for the upcoming Edge 30 series of smartphones. The Frontier model that is speculated to launch as one of the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ powered handsets may debut with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra marketing name. It is likely to be called the Edge X30 Pro in China. The Edge 30 Ultra may launch in Q3 this year.

The Motorola phone codenamed Dubai is expected to debut as the vanilla Motorola Edge 30 in global markets in early April. It may offer specs like a 6.55-inch P-OLED FHD+ 144Hz display, a 32-megapixel front camera, a 50-megapixel + 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit, and a 4,020mAh battery. It may come with options like 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage.

The Miami model is expected to debut next with the Motorola Edge 30 Lite marketing name. It will come with specs like a 6.28-inch P-OLED FHD+ 120Hz display, a Snapdragon 695 chip, 6 GB / 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, 128 GB / 256 GB storage, a 32-megapixel front camera, a 64-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual rear cameras, and a 4,020mAh battery. The thickness of the device will be under 7mm.

Next up will be the Dubai+ model, which will be powered by a new MediaTek chip that has an MT6879 model number. It has 2 x 2.6GHz Cortex A78 cores, 6 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 cores, and a Mali G79 GPU. It will feature the same screen and similar cameras as the Edge 30. It will house a 5,000mAh battery and carry support for a stylus like the Edge 30 Pro. There is no information on the moniker of the device. It is expected to debut in Q3 (probably after the Edge 30 Ultra).

Motorola is gearing up to launch a new Edge 30 series smartphone soon. We had recently reported on the Edge 30 being spotted on various certification websites, and now, the handset has also surfaced on NBTC with support for 5G networking.

Previously, we had reported on the device receiving certification on various websites like TDRA database, Wi-Fi Alliance, EEC, and even GeekBench. And now, the Moto phone with the model number XT2203-1 has been listed on the NBTC certification website as well (Via MySmartPrice). Looking at this listing, we can see that the device is manufactured in the United States and is confirmed to support GSM, WCDMA LTE, and NR networks.

This basically confirms that the smartphone will arrive with support for 5G networking, similar to the previously launched Edge 30 Pro. Unfortunately, the listing does not reveal any other finer details regarding this device apart from this information. Although, as per previous reports, we do have some speculations to go on. The Edge 30 is expected to run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus processor and will boot Android 12 OS out of the box. This chipset will be paired with 8GB of LPPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

On the front, it may sport a 6.7 inch FHD+ POLED display with a 32 megapixel selfie shooter and 144Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the rear could feature a 108 megapixel primary camera, that is paired with a 16 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, a macro sensor, and even an 8 megapixel 3x telephoto sensor as well with OIS support. Under the hood, the device is rumored to be powered by a 4,000mAh battery pack that supports 30W fast charging. Keep in mind that this is still speculation, so take these specifications with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.

The Motorola Edge 30 has made a Geekbench appearance, pointing towards an imminent launch and revealing some of its specifications for the first time.

The phone has scored 821 in the single-core and 2,353 in the multi-core test, which is fairly decent for its upper mid-range Snapdragon 778G Plus chip (via MySmartPrice). The processor packs 1x prime 2.52GHz core, 3x 2.4GHz gold cores, and 4x 1.8GHz energy-efficient cores, and is assisted by the Adreno 642L for graphics.

The device on the listing has 8GB of RAM but will perhaps be sold in more RAM variants. Aside from this, the website doesn’t mention much about the device, although we should be seeing more information really soon in the form of leaks and official teasers as the launch date nears.

The Motorola Edge 30 has already been spotted on several certifications websites such as TRDA, EEC, and Wi-Fi Alliance so it might not be long before Motorola reveals its release date.

The device will succeed the Motorola Edge 20 that was launched in August last year, and it wouldn’t be wrong to use the older model as an indicator towards the specs to expect with the newer one.

The Motorola Edge 20 was powered by the Snapdragon 778G chip and had a 6.7-inch OLED display with a crazy high refresh rate of 144Hz. For photography, it got a 108MP+8MP+2MP setup at the rear while the front camera is a 32MP sensor. Its battery is sized 4,000mAh with support for 30W fast charging.

Lenovo was the first phone manufacturer to ship Qualcomm’s latest and greatest, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset on its flagship Motorola Edge X30 back in December 2021. The phone was not the best in its segment, considering the alternative offerings from other competitors such as Xiaomi, Realme and Huawei. But considering its relative starting price of around 600 USD, the Motorola flagship was great for those who did not have much stretch on their budget.

Just when we thought that the standard Motorola Edge X30 would be the only flagship from Lenovo in 2022, a new listing on 3C Certification states that a new Motorola smartphone has been certified for electronics safety and it may be a new member in the Motorola Edge X30 family.

The news comes from ITHome, where they have spotted that 3C Certification recently listed a Motorola smartphone bearing the model number XT2201-6. From the listing, the Motorola XT2201-6 is stated to support 68W fast wired charging, which is currently exclusively available on the Motorola Edge X30. 

Another indicator that the Motorola XT2201-6 may be a new member of the Motorola Edge X30 lineup is its model number. The Motorola Edge X30 was launched in December 2021, but leaks started pouring out as early as early November 2021 with the model number XT2201-2. Considering that both the model numbers share the same XT2201 code, it may seem that the Motorola XT2201-6 may be a Motorola Edge X30 Ultra.

Although there has not been any other leaks or rumours directly regarding the Motorola Edge X30 Ultra, there have been a lot of leaks recently regarding the Motorola Frontier, Motorola’s next flagship which could bear the market name of Motorola Edge X30 Ultra.

An earlier leak by Evan Blass showed off renders of the Motorola Frontier, which is Motorola’s entry into the ultra-premium smartphone space. The leaked image shows the Motorola Frontier from all angles in a lustrous, metallic grey finish on the back. And the front display features very narrow bezels on all sides, with exaggerated curves on both the left and right sides of the phone to provide more screen real estate for the user.

As for the rear triple camera setup, it houses a major camera island equipped with a rumoured 194-megapixels sensor, which is expected to be the ‘S5KHP1’ sensor manufactured by Samsung. As for the other 2 cameras at the bottom, it is rumoured to be the 50-megapixel Samsung SKJN1SQ03 ultrawide sensor and the 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 telephoto camera for zoom shots.

Back in December 2021, Lenovo was the first phone manufacturer to ship Qualcomm’s latest and greatest, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset on its flagship Moto Edge X30. However, camera performance for the device was quite average compared to the competition (our Edge X30 review here), but Lenovo is looking to improve the phone’s camera performance in its next update.

The news came from Lenovo’s Senior Product Manager in China, Chen Jin. Chen, under his Weibo username “Amazing Bro”, confirmed that the Moto Edge X30 will be receiving a major software update by Lenovo before the Lunar New Year(February 1, 2022), hinting that the update will be available to users before January ends.

As for the features that the upcoming major software update will bring, Chen mentions that the Moto Edge X30 will sport improved camera software than the current camera software on the Moto Edge X30 and the video recording on the new camera software is described as jaw-dropping. Chen also shared that the new update will include support for video recordings in higher fps, allowing for smoother movements in videos.

As for security improvements, Chen emphasizes that the Moto Edge X30 will now have a new “Privacy Space” mode after the major update. Chen did not mention the highlights of this new mode, but the mode may work similar to Xiaomi’s Second Space, where the phone allows you to use 2 totally different spaces on your phone — one for work and one for leisure purposes with games, social media, and video-sharing platforms.

In the post, Chen also brings his regret that the software team was not able to develop a solution for a more stock Android-like notification center and notification shade, because Lenovo wanted to release the major update before the Lunar New Year. The update will roll out to Moto Edge X30 devices in China by the end of January 2022.

As for the hardware on the Moto Edge X30, it features a 6.7″ OLED HDR10+ display and comes with 8GB / 12 GB RAM and 128GB / 256GB internal storage. The smartphone comes with a triple rear camera setup flaunting a 50MP, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS main camera, and 50MP + 2MP secondary ones. For your selfies, you have a 60MP HDR wide-angle camera in the front.

Powered by the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Octa-Core processor, the smartphone runs on Android 12 based MYUI 3.0. It is fueled by a large 5000mAh Li-Po battery and supports 68W fast charging. This means you can charge your phone from 0 to 100% in just 35 mins. Motorola Edge X30 comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and is available in Black and White colour variants.
