With compact flagships gaining more popularity, OnePlus finally caved and released the OnePlus 13T as its first ever small premium phone in China back in April. Now, the brand has just released the OnePlus 13s globally (Review). It was initially expected to be a simple rebranding for the overseas market, but there are some key differences here. So here’s everything new in the OnePlus 13s.

OnePlus 13s vs OnePlus 13T: Exclusive Color

At a glance, the OnePlus 13s and 13T appear practically identical to one another. Both measure 8.15mm in thickness and weigh 185 grams. You also get the new aluminum camera module on the back and a flat middle frame. However, the OnePlus 13T dropped in China in three color options, which include Morning Mist Gray, Heart-pounding Pink and Cloudy Ink Black. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13s dropped in Black Velvet, Pink Satin, and Green Silk. This new green variant is exclusive to the Indian market, and it might be the best color out of the lot.

Selfie camera with autofocus

For selfies and video calls, the OnePlus 13T packed a 16MP camera on the front that supports 1080p@30fps video recording. But the OnePlus 13s gets a notable upgrade with a 32MP camera that not only features auto focus, but even offers 4K@30fps video recording. On the other hand, the duo have the same 50MP LYT700/IMX906 main camera (OIS) and a 50MP telephoto shooter (EIS) with 2x optical zoom.

Battery

While you do get a better selfie shooter on the front, the OnePlus 13s takes a hit in the battery department. It is powered by a 5,850mAh battery, which is smaller than the 6260mAh cell on the 13T. OnePlus claims that they had to reduce the battery size in the Indian variant to accommodate the new and improved selfie camera, but I’m not completely sold on this reasoning. Regardless, the battery is still quite massive and retains the 80W wired fast charging support.

Pricing

The OnePlus 13s just made its global debut in India with a 54,999 INR starting price tag for the 12GB + 256GB variant (roughly 640 US Dollars). This makes it around 200 US Dollars more expensive than the OnePlus 13T, which was released for 3,399 yuan (roughly 446 US Dollars) for the same 12GB + 256GB option. Even the top end 16GB + 1TB is more affordable since it sells for 4,499 yuan (roughly 617 US Dollars) in China.

Compact flagships are back — and better than ever. Smartphone makers have finally addressed the biggest challenge with compact phones: battery life. Thanks to high-density silicon-carbon (Si/C) batteries, compact flagships can now pack over 6,000mAh of capacity, something previously unheard of. The OnePlus 13T (coming to India soon as the OnePlus 13s) packs a massive 6,260mAh battery and was recently tested against some ‘Pro’, ‘Ultra’, and ‘Max’ branded flagships — namely the Xiaomi 15 Pro, Galaxy S25 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro Max, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and OnePlus 13.

OnePlus 13T outperforms the rest in battery life

Four of the six devices in the test are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The iPhone and Pixel run on the A18 Pro and Tensor G4, respectively. While different chipsets usually mean different power efficiency (or power draw), and display sizes and resolutions vary across these devices, the test still gives a good idea of how they compare in real-world endurance.

The Pixel showed the lowest battery percentage and the highest temperature throughout, and unsurprisingly, it was the first to die.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra followed next, shutting down just 14 minutes before the OnePlus 13. We’ve seen Apple devices with their A-series chips and well-optimized OS often outperform Android phones with much larger batteries. Interestingly, the S25 Ultra managed something similar here. Despite Samsung reusing most components and design from its previous Ultra flagship, it’s clear the brand spent time optimizing the OS — and it paid off.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro lasted another 19 minutes beyond the S25 Ultra, but still died 6 minutes before the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Finally, the compact OnePlus 13T kept going for another 32 minutes — a seriously impressive feat.

Let’s hope Chinese smartphone makers continue optimizing their systems — we might be on the verge of another big leap in battery life.

OnePlus Nord 5 visits TUV Rheinland with a Huge 6500mAh+ battery

The new OnePlus Nord 5 was just spotted on the TUV Rheindland database carrying the CPH2079 model number (Via 91Mobiles). It is worth noting that this certification did not reveal the actual name of the device and this is just speculation as the Nord 5 could be a rebranded Ace 5 Racing Edition phone for the global market. Looking at the listing, the Nord 5 is powered by a massive 6,650mAh battery pack, which is even bigger than the OnePlus 13T’s 6,260mAh cell.

The database also lists the device with support for 80W wired fast charging, which is slower than the previously expected 100W charging speeds. To recall, a recent rumor hinted at the Nord 5’s key specs and features. This includes 100W wired fast charging, 7000mAh battery, 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dimensity 9400e, and much more. So both the battery pack and charging rates over lower than the previous reports.

Rumors and reports have shown conflicting information as well as Digital Chat Station’s Ace 5 Racing Edition leak hints at the device featuring a 50MP + 2MP rear cameras, but another tipster revealed a 50MP main and 8MP ultra wide sensor combo on the back. While the brand initially didn’t disclose much about the market response, OnePlus China President Louis Lee later shared an update highlighting the strong early performance of the 13T in the domestic market.

OnePlus 13T: Strong first sale performance officially confirmed

According to Louis Lee, the OnePlus 13T achieved a sales revenue of over 200 million Yuan (approximately $27.6 million) within just 10 minutes of its first sale. Within two hours, the phone had already surpassed the brand’s full-day sales target. Lee added that among all smartphones launched between 3,000 Yuan (~$410) and 4,000 Yuan (~$550) in recent years, the 13T has become the best-selling model. After government subsidies, the phone is available for as low as 2,899 Yuan (~$400), making it nearly 800 Yuan cheaper than other compact flagship options available in the Chinese market.

On the other hand, the Oppo Find X8s is equipped with the latest Dimensity 9400+ that offers better performance, making it nearly even in terms of performance against the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

But one area the OnePlus 13T triumphs is the battery capacity. It houses a massive 6,260mAh battery pack, which supports 80W wired fast charging. In comparison, the Find X8s has a smaller but respectable 5,700mAh cell that supports not only 80W wired but also 50W wireless fast charging.

Eventually, OnePlus updated its T series. But when I saw the specs of the OnePlus 13T, I couldn’t help but have a few concerns. It has a dual-camera system without ultra-wide lens, no wireless charging, and no ultrasonic fingerprint unlock. The USB is still version 2.0, and it’s only IP65-rated. All these on paper probably cannot make it a competitive candidate among all the compact phones.

But when we finally noticed its official price was $100 cheaper than the Xiaomi 15’s, then we felt this phone wasn’t so bad after all. It looks quite sleek, and it uses a top-tier processor. Plus, they managed to fit a battery of over 6000mAh into such a compact body. I’m sure there will be people who think this is their dream phone.

Design

The moment I held the OnePlus 13T for the first time, I had a strong sense of déjà vu. It reminded me of a lot of other phones: it feels like the Xiaomi 15 in the hand, it operates like the OPPO Find X8s. From the side, it resembles the iPhone 16, and from the back, it looks like the Mi 11 Lite from years ago. Even the slightly thicker bottom bezel reminded me of the vivo X200 Pro mini.

I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but one thing is certain: the build quality is excellent. Despite its affordable price, it still uses an aluminum frame and glass all with matt finish. It feels more premium than we’d expect. The smaller & less bumping camera module is placed in the top-left corner, making it hard to accidentally touch, whether you’re left- or right-handed.

And then… well, it does look organized but not much else to praise. As I mentioned earlier, many of its features fall short compared to other phones of the same size. The 13T feels like a smaller version of the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro. If you’re not particularly fond of compact phones, you might need to check out the more affordable Ace 5 Pro instead.

Gaming

The OnePlus T series has always been marketed for its powerful performance, which is why they equipped the 13T with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Personally, I think the Dimensity 9400+ might have been a better choice—after all, the 13T doesn’t need a top-tier ISP. A MediaTek chip could’ve lowered costs, making the 13T even more appealing. That said, the 8 Elite in the 13T doesn’t disappoint.

We bought the OnePlus 13T at a pop-up event where they organized a MOBA gaming tournament under the midday sun. The fact that OnePlus dared to host an outdoor esports competition speaks volumes about their confidence in the 13T. And after testing it ourselves, it does perform better than other compact 8 Elite phones. Its refreshrates and power efficiency outperform the Xiaomi 15’s, and its temperatures are shockingly low. It’s hard to believe this is the gaming performance of a 6.3-inch model.

But the 13T’s gaming excellence isn’t just about high frame rates and low temperatures. It also comes packed with gaming-centric features like bypass charging, AI-assisted controls, frame interpolation, and super-resolution—stuff usually reserved for dedicated gaming phones. Among phones of this size, the 13T is the only one that offers all these features at once, making its gaming experience one of the strongest in recent memory.

Battery & Charging

The 13T supports 80W charging. It reaches 28% in 10-minute charge and 82% in half an hour. A full charge takes 52 minutes. Not the fastest, but more than adequate. And with a 6260mAh battery capacity, it’s not just “adequate”—it’s “more than enough.” Silicon-carbon batteries are truly impressive, allowing compact phones to pack such large batteries, even surpassing most flagship models. If you don’t play games, you can easily go a full day without charging.

Display

Here are the screen specs of the OnePlus 13T. On paper, it’s close to flagship-level. This TIANMA panel boasts a peak brightness of over 800 nits, with a high brightness mode reaching 1600 nits. Below 50 nits, it defaults to 2160Hz PWM dimming, though a DC dimming option is also available.

The screen itself leaves little to complain about, except for the awkwardly low fingerprint sensor position. The slightly thick bottom bezel might leave space for improvement, especially since its sibling, the Find X8s, set a high bar with its ultra-slim chin, making the 13T’s design less striking in comparison.

Camera

The OnePlus 13T has two cameras: a 24mm main camera and a 49mm telephoto camera.

The main camera handles daily photography most of the time. In daylight, you can usually snap a decent photo without much effort. Nighttime photos are passable, roughly on par with a $250 phone, assuming you don’t care about video shooting, because its video recording is not that good. Unless mounted on a tripod, focus hunting is constant, and low-light video quality is downright awful.

Then there’s the 2x telephoto. It’s usable in daylight, and even at 4x zoom, it’s tolerable. But at night, its flaws show: no OIS means frequent blur even with slgiht motion. You can check out the sample we shot at moderately lighting places like subway stations.

The lack of an ultra-wide camera is also frustrating. Sure, panorama mode can somewhat compensate, but without night algorithms, nighttime shots are almost unusable.

And the front camera maxes out at 1080p 30fps video. If it‘s a below-$400 phone, I could take it. But unfortunately, it costs $460.

In China, We’ve also heard some less-than-satisfactory voices about the OnePlus 13T in online discussions.. Although it was mentioned at the beginning that the 13T is $100 cheaper than the Xiaomi 15, that’s only based on the official price. The Xiaomi 15 has already been on sale for six months, and its price has dropped a bit on third-party retailers.

Compared to the OnePlus 13T, the Xiaomi 15 is now only about $50 more expensive. To save that $50, you’ll be missing out on an extra camera, wireless charging, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, IP68, and USB 3.0. We also have to note that the OnePlus 13T has a large enough battery, but it seems like that’s one of the few things it can really boast about.

The OnePlus 13s features a compact yet striking design, measuring just 8.15mm in terms of thickness and weighing 185 grams. You get a premium glass body on the rear and a metallic middle frame on the sides. On the front, it sports a 6.32-inch 8T LTPO AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate.

This panel has a peak brightness of up to 1600 nits, along with Oppo Crystal Shield Glass for protection and Dolby Vision for vibrant HDR support. The OnePlus 13T was announced with an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance, so the OnePlus 13s should also come with a similar rating.

Performance

Under the hood, the OnePlus 13s is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite 4nm chipset. This is one of the fastest processors that powers high end Android devices and is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Despite its small form factor, the OnePlus 13s could be powered by a massive 6260mAh battery pack like the 13T, which supports 80W wired fast charging.

Out of the box, the smartphone likely runs on the Android 15 OS based ColorOS 15 custom skin out of the box. Other notable features include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, infrared sensor, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Camera

The OnePlus 13s was announced with a dual camera setup on the rear, which consists of a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera that supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a 50MP telephoto shooter that offers 2x optical zoom and OIS. The brand promises video recording at 4K 60fps. For selfies and video calls, the front houses a 16MP shooter that offers up to 1080p 30fps recording.

Pricing

Unfortunately, the pricing details and global launch date for the OnePlus 13s is still unknown. But the official teaser states that the device will be “Coming Soon”. Its bottom features a SIM slot, a USB-C port, a microphone, and a speaker grille.

The OnePlus 13s is a compact flagship smartphone featuring a 6.32-inch AMOLED display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, though it’s not clear whether the 13s will be identical to the OnePlus 13T, which debuted last week in China. The brand is yet to reveal the OnePlus 13s’ launch date.

OnePlus just unveiled the 13T, its first attempt at a compact flagship. Even with a smaller footprint, the 13T doesn’t cut back on core hardware. It brings the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a battery well over 6000mAh, and a capable dual-camera setup.

On the other side, Xiaomi has its own take on the compact flagship formula with the Xiaomi 15. Both phones are targeting users who want smaller devices without giving up on high-end specs. Here’s a closer look at how the two stack up.

Design and Build

The OnePlus 13T measures 150.8 x 71.7 x 8.2 mm and weighs 185 grams. It uses a glass front with an aluminum alloy frame, protected by what OnePlus calls Crystal Shield Glass. The phone is rated IP65 for basic protection against dust and water. 

The Xiaomi 15 is slightly bigger and heavier at 152.3 x 71.2 mm and between 189 and 192 grams, depending on the version. Xiaomi uses its own Xiaomi Shield Glass over the screen and a 6M42-grade aluminum frame. It carries a better IP68 rating, making it water resistant for up to 1.5 meters. 

Displays

Both phones have LTPO AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates and Dolby Vision support. The OnePlus 13T’s display measures 6.32 inches, hits 1600 nits in high brightness mode, and offers a resolution of 1216 x 2640 pixels.

The Xiaomi 15 slightly stretches to 6.36 inches, keeps a comparable 1200 x 2670 resolution, and claims a much higher peak brightness at 3200 nits. It also handles a broader 68 billion color palette compared to OnePlus’ 1 billion colors.

Unless you’re pixel-peeping under direct sunlight, these differences won’t always matter. But if you do a lot of outdoor browsing or just want a screen that’s less likely to wash out, the Xiaomi 15 looks a little better prepared.

Performance

Both devices run on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The silicon includes an octa-core CPU (2×4.32 GHz performance cores and 6×3.53 GHz efficiency cores) paired with the Adreno 830 GPU.

Storage and RAM options are identical too. The 256GB or 512GB storage is configured with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. And there’s a 1TB variant with 16GB of RAM. Neither phone supports microSD expansion.

In day-to-day use, they will feel very similar. Gaming, multitasking, app launching all should happen quickly and smoothly. 

Your preference might come down to software. OnePlus 13T ships with Android 15 running OxygenOS 15 internationally and ColorOS 15 in China. Xiaomi 15 also starts with Android 15 but uses its in-house HyperOS 2 skin. Xiaomi commits to four major Android upgrades, though OnePlus hasn’t specified an exact policy for the 13T yet.

Both skins have diverged from Google’s clean Android vision in their own ways. It comes down to personal preference which one you prefer now.

Cameras

As for the cameras, the OnePlus 13T uses a dual rear camera setup: a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom. It covers the basics and supports 4K video recording with Dolby Vision HDR.

The Xiaomi 15, meanwhile, offers a triple-camera system including a 50MP main sensor (larger at 1/1.31″), a 50MP telephoto (with 2.6x optical zoom), and a 50MP ultrawide lens. It has Leica branding, laser autofocus, and supports video recording up to 8K, along with multiple HDR formats.

Selfie shooters are different, too. The OnePlus 13T uses a 16MP camera capable of recording 1080p video. Xiaomi fits a 32MP sensor that records up to 4K. All in all, Xiaomi has better camera hardware. 

Audio

Both phones ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack, but otherwise take audio seriously. The OnePlus 13T offers stereo speakers and supports aptX HD and LHDC 5 over Bluetooth.

Xiaomi 15 also has stereo speakers and matches those codecs but adds Qualcomm XPAN and 24-bit/192kHz audio playback (both wired and wireless). It leans more toward high-res audio if you have the right equipment.

Connectivity

Again, the differences are subtle. Both devices support Wi-Fi 7, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4 or newer (Xiaomi even hints at 6.0 compatibility), and full dual-frequency GNSS support for location services. Both have an infrared port as well.

However, Xiaomi uses a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen2 port with DisplayPort support. OnePlus 13T, on the other hand, has an older USB Type-C 2.0 spec.

Battery and Charging

Fueling the OnePlus 13T is a 6260mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging. In comparison, Xiaomi 15 has a smaller 5240mAh cell globally and 5400mAh in China. But it makes up for it with 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless.

Final Thoughts

Both the OnePlus 13T and Xiaomi 15 are compact flagships with Snapdragon 8 Elite power, bright LTPO AMOLED displays, and large batteries. But the Xiaomi 15 pushes a little harder in key areas like camera versatility, water resistance, charging flexibility, and audio features.

OnePlus keeps things lighter and simpler, but it also feels like it cuts a few more corners to get there. So if you want a device that stays solid across the board, Xiaomi seems like the safer pick here.

Google unveiled the Pixel 9a last month with a starting price tag of 499 US Dollars for the 8GB + 128GB offering. While the 8GB + 256GB variant costs 599 US Dollars. In comparison, the OnePlus 13T was just announced in China for a starting price tag of 3,399 Yuan or roughly about 446 US Dollars. This is for the 12GB + 256GB variant, so you’re easily getting a much better value. We can assume a slight price hike in the overseas market release but it would still be a great value for this price range.

Consumers are seeking flagship-level performance in smaller devices, with 88% willing to purchase a compact phone if it offers powerful processor performance and long-lasting battery life. OnePlus, which is one of the most preferred brands for future compact smartphone purchases, appears to be well-positioned to meet this demand.

The survey also highlights the importance of usability, with 73% of consumers prioritising one-handed use and comfort, making a compact design essential. The ideal screen size is between 6 to 6.5 inches for 60% of respondents. Additionally, with the rise of mobile gaming and an increasing focus on AI-powered features, there is a clear opportunity for OnePlus to introduce a compact flagship phone that combines performance, usability, and long-term comfort—filling a noticeable gap in the current smartphone market.

The OnePlus 13T is set to be officially announced on April 24 in China. As is often the case with major smartphone releases, there’s not much mystery left. Between official teasers, benchmark listings, and the usual stream of tipster leaks, we already have a fairly complete picture of what the device will offer. 

From the looks of it, it’s clear that 13T is a “compact flagship” from OnePlus. However, in 2025, the term “compact” is a bit more flexible.

With a 6.31-inch display and a 6,000mAh+ battery, this phone isn’t exactly pocket-sized. But it’s smaller than many ultra-large slab phones on the market. So, let’s see what this device has to offer.

A Redesigned Flagship

OnePlus has shared a few official images of the 13T, and if you’ve seen any recent renders or leaked videos, there are no major surprises. The device will come in three finishes—Morning Mist Grey, Heart Beating Pink, and Cloud Ink Black—each wrapped around a flat metal frame and a glass back. 

The sides are squared off, and the camera bump has been reworked into a “squircle” shape that’s less protrusive than past designs. It is still prominent enough to be an identity of its own. But the new camera module design makes 13T look eerily similar to Xiaomi’s Mi 11 Lite from a few years ago rather than previous OnePlus flagships.

Anyway, the rear housing contains two main camera lenses and an LED flash, though there are chances we could see a third sensor in the mix. 

It’s also worth noting that OnePlus’ signature alert slider will be replaced with a new customizable “smart button.” The company hasn’t gone into much detail about how it works, but a feature teased on Weibo suggests it may serve as a shortcut for gaming-related functions, such as live screenshot capture.

Compact, But Not Underpowered

Internally, the OnePlus 13T doesn’t appear to cut many corners. It’s said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and either 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. On the software side, it will ship with Android 15 (under the ColorOS 15 skin in China),

The device recently showed up on AnTuTu with a score exceeding 3 million points. That’s a new high mark for compact flagships. So you can be sure that you will receive top-tier performance despite the device’s compact size.

Thermals are often a weak point in smaller devices, but OnePlus is set to introduce a new “Glacier Cooling System” on the 13T along with changes in internal layout to expand the heat dissipation area. 

A Massive Battery in a Small Body

Possibly the most standout feature of the OnePlus 13T is the battery. The phone is said to house a 6,200mAh cell, which is significantly larger than what you get on a full-blown flagship like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. 

And OnePlus China’s president, Louis Lee, also claims the battery’s high capacity doesn’t come at the cost of ergonomics. Lee even showed off the phone balancing on a pen to highlight its 50:50 weight distribution.

The large battery is all thanks to the silicon-carbon tech, which has higher energy density than traditional lithium-ion cells. The battery will support 80W of wired charging, while there’s no mention of wireless charging yet. 

Display and Cameras

Up front, the 13T is expected to use a 6.31-inch flat OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. 

On the camera side, OnePlus has officially confirmed the use of two 50-megapixel sensors on the rear. The main sensor is a Sony IMX906 with optical image stabilization, while the second is a telephoto lens offering 2x optical and 4x lossless zoom. 

There’s still no confirmed information about the front-facing camera’s specs, though leaks suggest it won’t be a major selling point.

A few extras

A few more features round out the known list. The OnePlus 13T is expected to debut a new gaming-focused Wi-Fi chip, labeled G1, which is supposed to improve connectivity for mobile titles. There’s also talk of enhanced haptics, more granular performance controls, and IP rating. However, these haven’t been confirmed by the company yet. 

The phone weighs around 185 grams, which, for the size and battery capacity, is on the lighter side. 

Verdict

The OnePlus 13T is the company’s first real attempt at a compact flagship. And it looks like OnePlus knows exactly what it’s getting into. Downsizing a high-end phone to a smaller size usually means trade-offs, but the 13T seems ready to tackle most of them head-on.

From its new cooling system to a more balanced design, OnePlus appears to be trying to solve the typical issues that plague smaller phones. But with no wireless charging, no ultrawide camera, and no global launch confirmed, the 13T also comes with caveats.
