While it announced the phone, the phone’s pricing and availability details were not revealed.

However, we reported that the phone could be available in India for Rs. 16,990 (approximately $241) and could go on sale from 27th November. Now, the company has revealed pricing and availability information of the Oppo A7.

As it turns out, the phone is indeed priced at Rs. 16,990 in India. But, instead of going on sale from 27th November, the company has already started selling the smartphone exclusively through online marketplace Flipkart. In India, the phone comes in two colors — Glaring Gold and Glaze Blue.

However, in India, the phone comes in only one model — 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It also has a microSD card slot that supports storage expansion up to 256GB.

In the camera department, there’s a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel horizontal dual camera setup is present on the rear. It can capture studio-quality portrait shots with bokeh effect through AI beauty technology. For capturing vivid videos, it carries support for multi-frame image stabilization technology. On the front side, it comes with HDR mode enabled 16-megapixel wide-angle lens with support for AR stickers.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, support for dual SIM cards, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, USB OTG, microUSB 2.0, GPS and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Design

Oppo A7 has the most interesting aesthetics because it features a flagship-class body and a very high screen-to-body ratio. Further, it has a waterdrop notch and it is available in very original colors. On the other hand, Motorola One has the best build quality. It is more compact and pocket-friendly than its opponents and it is also splash resistant. Honor 8X is beautiful and it has even the highest screen-to-body ratio, but it has bigger dimensions.

Display

Huawei Honor 8X has one of the biggest displays ever seen on a smartphone. Only the biggest phablets such as Xiaomi Mi Max 3 are bigger than this handset. That is why it is more comfortable for productivity and multimedia. Further, it has a higher Full HD+ resolution, while Oppo A7 and Motorola One have just HD displays.

Specs & Software

Besides having a superior display, Huawei Honor 8X also comes with the best hardware department. Under the hood, it sports an octa-core Kirin 710 chipset (a competitor of the Snapdragon 660) and up to 6 GB of RAM. It is faster and more suitable for multi-tasking. Motorola One is at the second place with its Snapdragon 625, but note that it has Android One installed, a stock version of Android treated with faster updates by Google.

Camera

Huawei Honor 8X has a slightly better camera department thanks to a bright aperture and higher resolutions for both the rear and the front camera. It captures a lot of detail when there is light, and it does not disappoint in low light conditions, even if its camera performance is evidently worse. Motorola One is a good camera phone and it comes right after the Honor 8X, but Oppo A7 will probably shoot better selfies than both devices.

Battery

Given that it has the biggest battery and very efficient components, Oppo A7 will surely last more than Motorola One and Huawei Honor 8X on a single charge. But it does not feature a fast charging technology, so it takes a while to fully charge given that it has 4230 mAh. If you want a fast-charging device, choose the Motorola One and you will still get a good battery life thanks to its efficient components.

Price

Huawei Honor 8X is generally a better device and it wins this comparison, but Oppo A7 is better for you if you do not want a device with big dimensions. Huawei Honor 8X is available for less than €250/$285 globally, Oppo A7 costs around €270/$308 and Motorola One was launched with a €300/$342 price tag.

In this article, we will compare it with the new Vivo Y95 and one of the most wanted mid-rangers in the actual market: Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite. Will the Oppo A7 be able to take its consistent slice of the market by competing with these titans?

Design

A sure thing is that all of these phones come with outstanding designs, with impressive reflective backs and a very high screen-to-body ratio. For me, the most attractive is Vivo Y95 as it has a higher screen-to-body ratio due to its smaller waterdrop notch and a thinner chin. Further, it is available in beautiful gradient colors. Oppo A7 is very similar, but it has a slightly different texture on the back and a slightly lower screen-to-body ratio. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has a very attractive back as well, but its notch is bigger and the body is thinner.

Display

Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has the best display. On a screen which measures more than 6 inches, a resolution lower than 1080p means a low level of detail, and that is exactly the case of Oppo A7 and Vivo Y95. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has an average IPS panel, but still better than its opponents. On the other hand, the lower resolution of Vivo Y95 and Oppo A7 makes the battery last longer.

Specs & Software

Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is the most performing device because it comes with a way better processor than Vivo Y95 and Oppo A7. Further, it has a variant with more RAM and more internal storage. The Snapdragon 660 is much more powerful than any SoC from the Snapdragon 400 series, so there is no challenge: Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is the best. But unlike its opponents, it does not feature a micro SD slot. All of these handsets come with a customized Android version.

Camera

Despite being the most affordable handset, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has even a better camera department than Vivo Y95 and Oppo A7. It features two rear cameras with brighter apertures as well as a selfie camera with a higher resolution and auto HDR. Oppo A7 and Vivo Y95 are at the same level, with the former featuring some AI-backed features which seem more advanced for selfies, and the latter having a higher resolution for the selfie camera.

Battery

Oppo A7 has the biggest battery and it will be able to last very long thanks to the HD display and the very efficient chipset. Vivo Y95’s battery is just slightly smaller and its components are efficient as well, so its battery life is excellent as well. Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has a 3350 mAh unit which can only deliver an average battery life.

Price

Even though it has the best performance and camera department, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is available at a more affordable price: about €200/$228. Oppo A7 and Vivo Y95 cost about €270/$307 and €250/$285 respectively, but I would still prefer the Oppo A7 due to its very long battery life. And even though it has a lower-end SoC compared to Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, it features the new HyperBoost technology which is able to enhance CPU and GPU performance by up to 31 percent.

This suggests that the arrival of the smartphone may not be far away. Today, a leaked press render of the OPPO A7 phone has surfaced today to reveal its front design.

The new render of the OPPO A7 resembles with the frontal image of the smartphone that had appeared through its TENAA listing. The handset features a waterdrop notch display with a thicker bezel at the bottom. It resembles with the OPPO A7X that was announced in China in the previous month.

The OPPO A7 TENAA listing has revealed that it is equipped with a 6.26-inch display that carries support for HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixel. The midrange Snapdragon 450 chipset is present under the hood of the device. The handset receives power from 4,230mAh battery, but there is no support fast charging.

The SoC of the OPPO A7 is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 64 GB. The handset is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. It is equipped with 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. It has a front-facing shooter of 16-megapixel.

There is no information on the launch date of the OPPO A7. Also, the pricing of the smartphone is still under the wraps. The OPPO A7X has arrived in China with a price tag of 2,099 Yuan (~$302). Since the OPPO A7 seems to be low smartphone than the A7X phone, it is likely to cost under 2,000 Yuan (~$288).

The OPPO A7 will come with a 6.2-inch 1520 x 720 display which translates into a 19:9 aspect ratio and also means it has a notch. It is powered by the Snapdragon 450 processor with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage for both variants.

The A7 has a 13MP f/2.2 + 2MP f/2.4 dual camera combo on its back and a 16MP f/2.0 front-facing camera. There is no mention of a fingerprint scanner but it should at least have face unlock.

The OPPO A7 will run Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 on top. The battery capacity is stated as 4,230mAh and the phone will have dual-SIM support (nano only), Bluetooth 4.2, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and support for USB OTG.
