In August, Lenovo unveiled the much-hyped Lenovo Legion Pro gaming smartphone in China. The same device is dubbed as the Legion Duel in markets outside of China. It is one of the few phones that are powered by the Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform. At the end of the previous month, Lenovo Mobile’s General Manager Chen Jin took to Weibo to confirm that there a transparent edition of the device. Today, the company that it will be officially announcing the Lenovo Legion Pro Extreme Transparent Edition on the Double Eleven (Nov. 11) shopping festival day of China.

The Explorer Edition of the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi 9 were touted as transparent devices. However, the real internals of these devices was not visible. The official images of the Lenovo Legion Pro Extreme Transparent Edition that were released last month and the official poster that was shared today show that its transparent rear will allow users to view its real internal components.

The Lenovo Legion Pro Extreme Transparent Edition has 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The regular version of the phone with the same RAM and storage was priced at 5,999 Yuan. Its transparent version also carries the same pricing. It is now up for reservations in China and its limited sales will be carried out on Nov. 11. The handset ships with a 90 GaN charger.

Today, the company released a confirmation through its Weibo account that it will be debuting the iQOO 5 series on Aug. 17. The iQOO 5 series could end up as the world’s first smartphone with 120W fast charging support.

The new poster released by iQOO states that the iQOO 5 series will go official at 2:30 PM local time in China on Aug. 17. The Galaxy Tab S7 has an 11-inch LTPS IPS LCD screen that offers 1600 x 2560 pixels resolution, 274ppi pixel density, 500nits brightness, and 120Hz refresh rate. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The advanced Galaxy Tab S7 Plus has a 12.4-inch S-AMOLED display that produces 1752 x 2800 pixels resolution, 287ppi pixel density, 420nits brightness, and 120Hz refresh rate. Today is literally Snapdragon 865 Plus day. The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel set the ball rolling and now it is Samsung’s turn with its brand new Galaxy Z Flip 5G and in a short while, it will be the turn of the ASUS ROG Phone 3.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is a more powerful version of Samsung’s beloved vertically folding smartphone. Not only does it bring 5G support but it also replaces the Snapdragon 855+ Mobile Platform with the new Snapdragon 865 Plus. It brings these new features for $1449.99 (¥12,499 in China), $70 more than the price of the 4G version that launched last year. We don’t need to tell you which one to buy.

While the rest of the spec sheet remains unchanged, there have been some minor software upgrades. Flex Mode should work better now and the Edge Panel has new features.

The phone comes in Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze. The phone will go on sale on August 7 and will be sold by AT&T and T-Mobile in the US while unlocked versions can be bought on Samsung’s own website as well as on Amazon, and Best Buy.

Legion Phone Duel Design

Just as ASUS has adopted the name of its gaming PC line, ROG, Lenovo has done the same by adopting “Legion” which is the name of its gaming PC line. The name is pasted boldly on the back of the device and the familiar “Y” logo which houses a multicolor LED can also be seen on the back. The Legion Phone Duel is available in two colorways – black and blue, which appear to have different finishes.

Specifications and Features

When it comes to specs, the Legion Phone Duel is pretty impressive. It has a 6.59-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. While Lenovo has gone for a full-screen design (no notch or punch hole), the phone still has some bezels at the top and bottom. The device also boasts front-facing stereo speakers.

Earlier this week, reputed tipster Evan Blass shared the 360-degree render of the Galaxy Note20. Today, he took to his Patreon account to reveal the 360d-degree render of the Galaxy Note20 Ultra.

The Galaxy Note20 Ultra 360-degree renders reveal that its display curves towards the left and right edges. Rumors have it that Note20 Ultra measures 165 x 77.2 x 7.6mm and is fitted with a 6.87-inch S-AMOLED display with Infinity-O design. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and is said to offer a 19.3:9 aspect ratio.

The Note20 Ultra’s triple camera setup is expected to feature a 108-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The Note20 Ultra is expected to offer support for up to 50x digital zoom.

After months of leaks, speculations, and rumors, Lenovo finally confirmed that the company will be launching its first gaming smartphone — Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone on 22nd July in China.

Today, the company has shared a new teaser poster on its Weibo account which reveals that the Lenovo Legion will be the first smartphone in the world to come powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset.

Soon after the launch of Lenovo Legion, ASUS will also be launching its next-generation gaming smartphone, dubbed as ASUS ROG Phone 3. The India launch is set for 22nd July while the China launch event will take place a day later.

Coming to the specifications of the Lenovo smartphone, it has been revealed that the phone will come with a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with support for Full HD+ screen resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.

On July 22, Lenovo will be announcing the Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone that it has been teasing since December 2019. Earlier this week, the gaming smartphone was made available for reservations on JD.com in China through which some of its key specs and features were revealed. The retailer listing is now updated with the renders of the front and rear sides of the smartphone.

Interestingly, the listing mentions the name of the device as “Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone Pro.” It is unclear whether the Chinese brand will be selling the handset is Pro and non-Pro editions. Coming to the renders of the Legion Gaming Phone Pro, the handset can be seen sporting a display that is devoid of a notch or punch-hole. It offers symmetrical full-screen design with slim bezels at the top and bottom. The red accents at the top and bottom have two front-firing speakers.

The rear side of the Legion Gaming Phone Pro has a two-tone design. The center appears to be glossy whereas the upper and lower parts have textured appeal. The latter could be made from carbon fiber material to offer a better grip while playing games in landscape orientation. There could be RGB-lightning underneath the centrally positioned Legion logo. A leaked render of the device that appeared earlier this week could only reveal its design from one side. Popular tipster Evan Blass has shared a press render of the ROG Phone 3. The render reveals that the overall appearance of the ROG Phone 3 is not too different from its predecessor model. However, it does come with some refinements.

As can be seen in the render, the edges of the ROG Phone 3 are not as sharp as it was on the ROG Phone 2. The front side of the gaming phone has a notch-less display. The slightly thick top and bottom bezels still house the dual front-firing speakers. The predecessor model had color accents at the front speakers. These are not found on the ROG Phone 3.

The right edge of the ROG phone 3 has a pair of buttons and a USB-C port can be seen on its left edge. Instead of a dual-camera setup, the ROG Phone 3 has three rear-facing cameras.  The centrally positioned LED-lit logo is still present on the backside of the device. The publication reported that multiple code snippers in MIUI 12 has revealed that the M2007J1SC phone is codenamed as CAS. It is likely to feature Snapdragon 865 Plus or Snapdragon 865 SoC. The handset was previously speculated to sport a 108-megapixel camera. However, it is now expected to a 48-megapixel main camera with a larger sensor.

The company has confirmed that the Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone will be officially launched on 22nd July. This is the same day when ASUS is set to launch its third-generation gaming smartphone ASUS ROG Phone 3.

Further, Lenovo has also confirmed that the smartphone will come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, clocked at 3.1GHz, and promised to deliver 10 percent better performance compared to SD865.

With this, Lenovo Legion is among the first smartphones to come powered by the SD865 Plus SoC. ASUS ROG Phone 3 is the other smartphone confirmed to pack this new chipset. But the upcoming Samsung Galaxy flagships are expected to be powered by the same.

The company has also revealed that the smartphone will come with a newly designed heat dissipation architecture, along with 14 temperature sensors. It will also have dual X-axis linear motors and an additional USB Type-C port on the side for gaming.

The smartphone was recently spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarking platform, which revealed that the phone will come packed with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage but we expect other memory variants as well.

It recorded 114,314 scores in the memory test of the benchmarking platform. In the CPU and GPU tests, the Lenovo gaming phone scored 187,401 and 246,980 benchmarking scores, respectively. Overall, the device managed to score 648,871 points.

The Lenovo Legion is expected to come with a Full HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. There could also be an in-display fingerprint sensor for added protection.

In the camera department, the smartphone is expected to have a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 64-megapixel primary sensor and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide secondary camera sensor. As per the reports, the phone has a side-facing 20-megapixel pop-up selfie camera.

Coming to the software department, the smartphone is expected to be running the Android 10 operating system with the company’s own gaming-focused Legion UI on top. The company has already confirmed that the device will come with dual 45W (90W) fast charging support.

ASUS has so far launched two gaming smartphones under its ROG Phone lineup and the company is now all set to unveil its third-generation gaming smartphone — ASUS ROG Phone 3 in India on 22nd July.

Online marketplace Flipkart has now started teasing the launch of this new smartphone, suggesting that the device will be available for purchase in India exclusively through its platform. Further, it seems that the company has hired YouTuber CarryMinati as an ambassador for this new smartphone.

The virtual launch event will take place on 22nd July at 8:15 PM. The company is also set to launch the smartphone in three other markets on the same day — Taiwan, Milan (Italy), and New York (USA).

It has also been confirmed that the ROG Phone 3 will come powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus, making it one of the first devices to come powered by this chipset.

The device is said to have up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. In the camera department, the phone will feature a triple-camera setup on the back where the primary sensor will be of 64-megapixel.

ASUS will be launching the ROG Phone 3 gaming smartphone in multiple markets on July 22. Various reports have revealed that it could be the first phone fueled by the Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform, an improved version of the SD865 that powered most of the Android flagships this year. Earlier today, an AnTuTu listing of the upcoming Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone had surfaced to confirm that it is equipped with Snapdragon 865+. However, the Chinese firm is still mum on its launch date. A few hours ago, ASUS seemingly shared a teaser of the ROG Phone 3 that almost revealed the presence of Snapdragon 865+. While the tweet has been taken down, the Tech Elucidations Facebook page seems to have shared the same teaser.

The 10-second clip states that the ASUS ROG Phone 3 will be the most powerful gaming phone. A closer look at the chip’s image reveals ‘865+’ mentioned on it.

The Snapdragon 865+ is expected to higher CPU and GPU clocking speeds than the SD865 chip. It is known through Legion gaming phone’s AnTuTu listing that it has one 3.09GHz Kryo 585 Prime CPU, three 2.42GHz Kryo 585 Gold, and four 1.8GHz Kryo 585 Silver CPU. The SoC also includes Adreno 650 graphics. There is a possibility that the ROG Phone 3 launch event may feature a soft unveiling of the SD865+ SoC.

Ahead of its official announcement, the Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone that has a model number of L79031 has surfaced on AnTuTu benchmarks with an impressive score of 648K+.

The AnTuTu listing confirms that the Lenovo Legion gaming phone is powered by the unannounced Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform. The same chipset is expected to power the rival phone ASUS ROG Phone 3 that is scheduled to go official on July 22. The listing reveals that the SD865+ comprises of 1 x 3.09GHz Kryo 585 Prime CPU, 3 x 2.42GHz Kryo 585 Gold and 4 x 1.8GHz Kryo 585 Silver CPU. The SoC also includes Adreno 650 graphics.
