Products such as Meizu phones, Flyme systems, and Pandaer accessories will remain available, and customer rights will not be affected.

Shift towards Flyme and AI ecosystem

The statement highlights that Meizu is repositioning itself around Flyme and AI-driven ecosystems. The company intends to focus on open collaboration under a Powered by Flyme model, expanding into broader industries rather than limiting itself to handset launches. Flyme Auto has already crossed 2.26 million vehicle installations and aims to reach 3 million this year, reflecting strong traction in the automotive space.

The message also states that departments unrelated to the phone business wind-down could complete restructuring in March, with N+1 compensation reportedly offered to affected employees. Staff members holding company shares are said to be required to consult HR individually regarding follow-up arrangements.

Despite the reported changes, the post claims that the Meizu brand will not disappear and will remain within the Geely system, with other Geely subsidiaries potentially continuing related operations.

Xingji Meizu has not issued a public response so far.

The phone’s frame includes a two-stage customizable mode button. Meizu also designed new system themes tailored for fans who value visual personalization. The company described the Meizu 22 Air as a lightweight device with a bold modular structure.

The back panel features a PIN-based modular design that allows support for various accessories. These include a snap-on battery pack for extended use, a cooling and gaming controller module, and an external camera unit for long-range photography.

The StarV Snap weighs just 39 grams. Meizu said the glasses underwent more than 50 rounds of ergonomic refinement to ensure a balanced 1:1 weight distribution. The frame features titanium-alloy hinges, soft curved temple tips, and a breathable curved design for improved comfort. The glasses are available in two color options: Amber Brown and Midnight Black, and support interchangeable lenses, including optical, photochromic, and sunglasses.

Meizu has equipped the glasses with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 109-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture. It uses a custom 5P optical glass lens and supports video recording in both landscape and portrait modes. The glasses can shoot continuously for up to 40 minutes at 1080p or 60 minutes at 720p. Meizu’s imaging system also supports HDR, EIS stabilization, noise reduction, portrait enhancement, and horizon correction.

The glasses use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. This setup powers on-device AI features and manages heat during extended use. The audio system includes dual open-ear stereo speakers and a four-microphone array with AI noise reduction for clear voice pickup.

The device features a built-in AI assistant that handles voice transcription, object recognition, real-time translation in 12 languages, and contextual suggestions. These functions can be accessed through a dedicated AI button or via voice commands. The low-power voice control system enables direct interaction without requiring a wake word.

The StarV Snap features an 183mAh battery that supports up to 3 hours of music playback, 40 minutes of 1080p video recording, or 50 hours of standby time. Charging is handled through a Type-C port, and the included charging case can recharge the glasses up to nine times. Meizu said a full charge takes about 45 minutes. The glasses support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 and are compatible with Android 12 and above.

Meizu confirmed Alipay integration, allowing users to display QR codes for mobile payments directly on the glasses. The device also includes a recording indicator light and intelligent obstruction detection to protect user privacy.

The design integrates a 0.8mm symmetrical “pure white” flat panel and a 6.3-inch frame that offers a refined and balanced in-hand experience.

According to Meizu, the new color variant symbolizes the brand’s commitment to combining modern design with oriental aesthetics. The new variant has a starting price of 2,999 Yuan (~$420) and will go on sale in China starting Oct. 30.

On the front, the Meizu 22 is equipped with a 6.3-inch display at 1.5K resolution. It supports a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, peak brightness up to 6000 nits, and covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut. 

The panel integrates “RuRan Eye Protection Technology,” which combines hardware-level low blue light and DC dimming for reduced eye strain. The design includes a micro-arc 2.5D front glass and a narrow 1.2mm border on all sides.

The phone has four cameras in total, three on the back and one on the front. It includes:

• 50MP wide-angle (OV50H, 1/1.3-inch sensor, f/1.68, OIS)
• 50MP 3x periscope telephoto (Sony IMX882, OIS, 15cm tele-macro)

The software experience is driven by Flyme AIOS 2, which brings AI features like AI drawing, AI filters, pedestrian removal, glare reduction, and moiré removal. Small Window Mode 5.0, Game Assistant, and Smart Travel are also baked in.

For car owners, Flyme Auto 2 provides deeper integration with Meizu’s ecosystem, while Flyme Link handles device-to-car connectivity.

Furthermore, the Meizu 22 comes with a linear vibration motor, infrared remote functions, UWB digital key support, and IP66/IP68 water and dust resistance. However, not all models are equal in connectivity. Only the top-tier 16GB + 1TB variant supports UWB, USB 3.2, and DisplayPort 1.2 output. All other versions are limited to USB 2.0 speeds (480Mbps), which is a notable downgrade compared to many rivals in this price range.

The phone also uses a multi-antenna system, including quad-antenna MIMO technology, to improve network performance.

According to the tipster, the Meizu 22 will instead run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. The chip is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and uses a “1+7” setup, with a single high-performance Cortex-X4 core alongside seven Cortex-A720 cores at varying clock speeds. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 825 GPU.

The same leak also reiterates that the phone will feature a LIPO OLED display with a slim 1.2mm bezel. The panel itself measures 6.3 inches, which is slightly smaller than the 6.55-inch screen on the Meizu 21.

On the camera front, Meizu is equipping the phone with a 72mm 3x periscope telephoto lens, backed by what the company describes as improved image processing. Design

It is speculated that the Poco F7 and Xiaomi 15 Civi, aimed at the global market, will also feature the new chip. These phones are expected to be rebranded versions of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro and Civi 5 Pro.

Both Note 21 models sport large, FHD+ IPS LCD displays. The standard Note 21 offers a 6.74-inch panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Pro bumps it up to a 6.78-inch display with a smoother 120Hz refresh rate.  Selfie duties are handled by an 8MP camera on the Note 21 and a 13MP sensor on the Pro.

Flipping things around, the rear camera setups differ slightly. The standard Note 21 features a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor. The Note 21 Pro steps things up with a 64MP main shooter and the same 2MP depth helper. 

Meizu remains tight-lipped about the specific eight-core chipset powering the standard Note 21. The Pro gets the MediaTek Helio G99, a processor typically found in budget phones. Both phones come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, expandable via microSD cards.

Meizu seems to be gearing up to launch a new affordable smartphone in its home country China. The usually reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station (DCS), has revealed the device on Weibo.

The tipster refers to the phone as the Meizu “Lucky 08” and has also shared images showing it in two color options: Black and White. But what’s really unique about this guy is its camera design.

Unlike the ubiquitous rectangular camera humps dominating the market, the Lucky 08 features a distinctive design with one camera seemingly orbiting the other, set against an interesting radiating background. DCS calls it a star-track design. 

While details on the camera specifications remain under wraps, the leaks suggest the Lucky 08 is said to have a sizable 6,000mAh battery. Additionally, the phone is expected to retain the Flyme AIOS features found on Meizu’s flagship devices.

However, being a budget device, it will likely show some compromises. The tipster suggests the Lucky 08 will feature a plastic frame with flat edges. The phone, however, will still have narrow and symmetrical bezels on the front.

There’s no official word on when or where Meizu will launch the smartphone. But with live photos already circulating, a September or October release seems likely.

According to the IMEI database, this new smartphone will have the model number M469Q. When we look at the model number, we can say that it is very similar to the model number of a smartphone of Meizu. The M469Q resembles the Meizu 21 Note with the model number M468Q. Perhaps the mystery smartphone with model number M469Q has similar features to the Meizu 21 Note. Of course, let’s not forget that this is a guess. Unfortunately, we don’t have any information about the specifications of the device. However, we can say that the Meizu M20 is an affordable smartphone.

Meizu has not introduced a new M series smartphone for the last 5 years, but after 5 years, we see that the brand has decided to introduce an M series smartphone again. While Apple may have opted out of the electric vehicle (EV) race, China’s tech scene continues to see a growing trend of smartphone giants entering the automotive market. 

Following Huawei‘s integration of its services into cars like the HIMA model and Xiaomi’s recent foray into car production, Meizu, now under the wing of Geely, is set to unveil its first car later this year.

The announcement came from Meizu COO Liao Qinghong at the ChinaJoy 2024 exhibition. Qinghong emphasized that the car would have a different functional performance from that of traditional car manufacturers.

The upcoming Meizu DreamCar MX will be manufactured by Geely and will reportedly be based on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform. Early images show a sedan design similar in size to the Lynk & Co Z10.

One of Meizu’s key differentiators is a strong focus on user involvement. In January, the company launched the DreamCar MX community – an interactive platform allowing fans to participate in design discussions and personalization options. This includes co-creating color schemes, Flyme Auto themes, and potentially influencing other aspects of the car.

However, the success of Meizu’s automotive venture is uncertain. Both Meizu and Xiaomi lack established experience in car manufacturing compared to traditional automakers.

Meizu Blue 20 has officially been announced in China as the company’s first 1,000 Yuan (~$140) AI-driven smartphone. The phone launched in cooperation with China Mobile offers a large display, long battery life, and decent performance. Here is a look at some of the key specifications of the device.

As per a Weibo post by WHY LAB, the Blue 20 AI phone features a 6.52-inch IPS LCD waterdrop notch screen that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It has an 8-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back.

The Blue 20 is equipped with the Unisoc T765 chipset. It will be available in two options, such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage.

The Blue 20 AI phone houses a 5,010mAh battery with 10W charging support. It comes with other features, such as Flyme AIOS, a microSD card slot, and dual speakers. Lastly, it measures 8.3mm in thickness and has a plastic middle frame with a glass back cover.
