Samsung Electronics has set its sights on becoming the frontrunner in the emerging field of 3D DRAM memory, according to a report from Semiconductor Engineering. This announcement, made at the Memcon 2024 conference, highlights the company’s strategic move to address the limitations of traditional memory designs as the industry pushes towards even smaller chip sizes.

With DRAM line widths expected to dip below 10nm in the latter half of this decade, current memory architectures are nearing their scaling limits. This has spurred the exploration of innovative solutions like 3D DRAM, which promises significant benefits in terms of capacity and footprint reduction.

At Memcon 2024, Samsung showcased two key technologies for 3D DRAM: Vertical Channel Transistors and Stacked DRAM. Vertical Channel Transistors represent a fundamental shift in transistor design. By turning the current flow channel from horizontal to vertical, Samsung aims to significantly reduce the transistor’s footprint. However, this approach also demands much higher precision in the etching process.

Stacked DRAM, on the other hand, focuses on maximizing space utilization. Unlike traditional 2D DRAM that utilizes only the horizontal plane, Stacked DRAM leverages the vertical dimension (z-axis) to stack multiple layers of memory cells within a single chip. This innovative approach has the potential to boost single-chip capacity to over 100GB, a substantial leap compared to current limitations.

These developments in 3D DRAM technology are part of Samsung’s long-term roadmap to enhance memory capabilities for various applications, including data centers, consumer electronics, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and 5G networks.

The market for 3D DRAM is projected to reach a staggering $100 billion by 2028. To solidify its lead in this race, Samsung has taken proactive steps by establishing a dedicated 3D DRAM research lab in Silicon Valley earlier this year. This strategic move positions them to attract top talent and accelerate their research and development efforts. Samsung is also exploring MUF Technology to manufacture next-generation DRAM for servers.

Samsung’s ambitions in 3D DRAM mark a significant push towards a new era of memory technology. If successful, this innovation could pave the way for even more powerful and compact electronic devices in the years to come. The competition in this space is sure to intensify as other major memory manufacturers scramble to catch up. Upcoming Vivo V2354A, V2353A, V2353DA phones receive 3C certification in China

In the previous month, Vivo announced a couple of new devices, such as the Vivo X Fold 3 series of smartphones and the Vivo Pad 3 Pro tablet in China. Rumors suggest that the brand intends to introduce the Vivo X100s, the Vivo X100s Pro, the Vivo X100 Ultra, and the Vivo Pad 3 tablet in the current quarter of this year. A couple of new phones from the brand have received approval from the 3C certification platform in China.

As can be seen in the above screenshot, three upcoming Vivo phones with model numbers Vivo V2353A, V2353DA, and V2354A have been approved by Chian’s 3C authority. All three are 5G-enabled smartphones that may ship with a V4440L0A0-CN / V4440L0E0-CN charger, which supports up to 44W fast charging.

Hence, it appears that V2353A, V2353DA, and V2354A could be mid-range phones belonging to the same series. It looks like these phones may end up as Y-series smartphones. The other specifications of these smartphones are currently under wraps.

In related news, Vivo’s sub-brand is said to announce as many as four new devices this month in China. These include the iQOO Z9x, Z9, Z9 Turbo, and the iQOO Pad 2 tablet. Reports indicate that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 3 chipsets, respectively, will power the three Z9 series of phones.

Reports claim that the iQOO Pad 2 tablet is a rebranded version of the Dimensity 9300-powered Vivo Pad 3 Pro. The brand is also said to be working on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered phone, which may end up as an iQOO Neo 10 series phone.

It promises YouTube-centric features around community, discovery, and the ability to switch seamlessly between audio and video content.

If you are a Google Podcasts user, fear not! Your subscriptions aren’t lost forever.  Google has provided instructions on how to smoothly transfer your subscriptions to YouTube Music. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Export from Google Podcasts: Open the Podcasts app and tap “Export subscriptions” followed by “Export under ‘Export to YouTube Music'”.
  • Import to YouTube Music: Open the YouTube Music app, select “Transfer,” “Continue,” and finally “Go to Library” once the transfer completes.

Important Notes:

  • Transferring subscriptions may take a few minutes.
  • Not all podcasts may be available on YouTube Music. You may need to use the show’s RSS feed link to resubscribe in those cases.
  • You have until July 2024 to complete this migration.

While many will likely continue their podcast journeys on YouTube Music, the shutdown of Google Podcasts marks the end of a well-received app. 

As with many past discontinuations, Google’s reasoning for shuttering a successful product remains somewhat unclear to the user base. We’ll have to wait and see if this change will be good for podcasters and their loyal listeners.

Xu Qi, the vice president and global marketing president of Realme, announced on April 1st on Weibo that the Realme GT Neo6 SE will be launched next week.

The GT Neo6 SE has already officially announced to boast the newly released Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, which will also likely be utilized by the OnePlus Nord 4 [OnePlus Ace 3V in China]. This chipset uses 1 x Cortex-X4 performance core clocked at 2.8 GHz, 4 x 2.6 Cortex-A720 mid-cores clocked at 2.6 GHz, and 3 x 1.9GHz Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. For graphics, it equips the Adreno 732.

According to NanoReview, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip scores around 1367000 in AnTuTu 10, and 1913 and 5098 in Geekbench 6 single and multi-core tests respectively.

Speaking of the phone will equip a new 1.5K 8T LTPO panel from BOE that can reach 1000 nits of manual peak brightness, 1600 nits of global peak brightness (will be activated in high ambient light), and a whopping 6000nits local peak brightness in certain conditions like streaming HDR content in well-lit conditions. Another use case of the stunning 6000nits peal brightness is said to be something called “game super HDR”, which will offer amazing visuals in games with expanded dynamic range.

This bright AMOLED panel doesn’t compromise eye safety though. The GT Neo6 SE is expected to equip a 2160 Hz high frequency PWM dimming, and hardware-level solution to reduce blue-light emission.

Speaking of the front and back design of the GT Neo6 SE, it has been already revealed by certification platform TENNA. Shifting from the current design standard for the sides, this phone appears to have curved edges for both front and back. From a previously leaked image, it appears that Realme might have ditched the 2 megapixel macro camera of the predecessor GT Neo5 SE, and will offer a dual camera setup for the back. According to 91mobiles Hindi, Realme is planning to launch a new smartphone, which will have a price tag of around Rs 10,000. The report reveals that it will be a 4G device. The rumored pricing suggests that the brand will compete with similarly priced phones from Redmi, Poco, itel, Tecno, and Infinix.

Apart from confirming that the upcoming Realme phone will be a 4G device, the report states that it will offer 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in storage. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about this mysterious phone.

On April 4, Realme will unveil the Realme C65, a 4G smartphone, in Vietnam. The rumored Rs 10,000 4G phone for India could likely be the Realme C65.

According to reports, the Realme C65 will arrive with a 6.67-inch LCD HD+ 90Hz display, a Helio G85 chipset, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. The device will come with an 8-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, which will be coupled with a flicker sensor.

The Realme C65 will run on Android 14 and feature a side-facing fingerprint sensor. It is said to offer other features, such as a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an IP54-rated chassis. It is said to have a slim profile of 7.64mm and weighs 185 grams.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could be the third foldable phone from Samsung launching this year, claims a report by GalaxyClub. This is not the first time that rumor mill has talked about its existence. In February, Winfuture.de published a report claiming that there would be an Ultra-branded foldable phone debuting with the regular Z Fold 6.

Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 made its debut with the model number SM-F946, and its successor, the Z Fold 6, is reportedly assigned the model number SM-F956. According to GalaxyClub, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could potentially bear the model number SM-F958.

Samsung appears to use the “8” suffix in model numbers primarily for its “Ultra” variants, as observed in devices like the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the SM-S928 model number. While details regarding the SM-F958 model number have emerged, the title “Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra” remains speculative and should be approached with caution. Nevertheless, this leak could likely prove accurate.

The report states that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra might only be available in the South Korean market. While the publication has identified the SM-F958N, a South Korean variant of the device, there are currently no indications of versions for markets such as Europe and the US being developed at this time.

Unboxing

The HIDISZ MS3 is packaged in a square black box with a gold Hi-Res logo on the front, and some specs on the back. Open the box you can see the earphones themselves, take them out and there are tips for different sonic tendencies and 2 pairs of filters, Balanced – Rose Gold filters already on the headphones. All together the HIDIZS MS3 offers a total of 9 pairs of tips and 3 pairs of filters. So, I don’t have any complaints when it comes to accessories. Inside the package there is a small box holding the user manual, and a leather pouch, inside the pouch we have the 4.4mm balanced cable that I chose to go with it. And truth be told, I really like this cable, not only because it is made of Multi-conductor OFC material, but also because of the “Shark Fin” design. The “Shark Fin” and the heat-shrink tube at the end of the cable minimize microphonics, so the HIDIZS MS3 will sound clean even when I am moving.

Design & wear

In terms of design, they are very cool, aluminium alloy with black surface, and texture design in the surface of the earphones, it looks a little bit like a feather or a flame. In the light, the unique surface looks full of dynamic sense. The HIDIZS MS3 has a very special curve on the part that touches the ear, so the earphones will be close to my ear when I have them on, and the in-ear part is relatively short, so it won’t press on my ear canal. Even if I use them for a long time, I don’t feel uncomfortable. So I would give HIDIZS MS3 a high score in design and comfort.

Sound Quality

Before we talk about the sound quality, I have to mention that I use MS3 with Balanced filter and Balanced ear tips. First of all, in terms of sound analytic, this is the least of my worries, they use two Knowles Balanced Armature Driver, so the MS3 has a high resolution sound. When I first have them on, I was very impressed with the energetic sound, which was very dynamic regardless of the frequency. The mid and high frequencies were very bright, and when listening to certain types of music, such as piano or violin, or women’s vocals, the MS3’s sound was so full of energy that I felt like my brain was being penetrated by the sound, so If you’re looking for good high frequency performance like me, then this is for you. In the mid-range vocal section, the MS3 is very expressive and the vocals are so close that you can clearly hear various details. Maybe due to the excellent mid-high frequency performance, the low frequency seems to be rather flat, not much surprise, when playing some percussion instruments, they can objectively play back the sound of the instrument. All in all, in terms of Sound Quality, the HIDIZS MS3 performs very well, the sound is full of energy and has a very good performance in the middle and high frequencies.

It is worth mentioning that the MS3 has very good Sound Field performance, which can clearly distinguish the position of different instruments in complex music. I even tested the headset in FPS games, and in VALORANT I could clearly sense the position of the enemy. A HIFI earphone also performs well in games is something really beyond my expectations.

When using HIDIZS MS3, I paired it with HIDISZ S9 PRO Balance DAC and HIDIZS AP80 PRO-X player, compared to mobile phones or PC’s integrated audio chips, the S9 PRO does a good job. The HIDIZS external decoder with DSD512 support really delivers a cleaner and mellower sound performance. Of course, if you just want to simply listen to some music, the MS3 has an impedance of only 18Ω, very easy to drive, just connecting to a mobile phone will also have a good sound performance.

Verdict

Overall, the HIDISZ MS3 is a pair of very characteristic earphones, they have a very good performance in the mid-high frequency, full of energy. They can show the characteristics of high-frequency instruments in detail, and respond fast to the mid-frequency. The earphones can present sweet and delicate vocals. At the same time, they have a good performance of the Sound Field, but it is clear that they are not suitable for all types of music, if you like vocals and bright high frequencies, they will surprise you.

Redmi Turbo 3 moniker officially confirmed, likely to launch this month

Redmi has been teasing the arrival of a new smartphone in China for the past few days. Reports have claimed that the phone will be called the Redmi Note 13 Turbo when it comes to the market. However, the company surprised its fans today by revealing that the said device will be part of a new series called the Turbo lineup.

As can be seen in the above poster, the upcoming Redmi smartphone will break cover with the “Redmi Note Turbo 3” moniker. For those who don’t know, the device is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is said to be a “Lite” version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

So, what kind of phones will be included in the Turbo series? The Turbo series is positioned as a new-generation performance flagship, aimed at reshaping the mid-range performance landscape.

Last year’s Turbo-branded phone, the Redmi Note Turbo 12, belonged to the Note series. The new poster suggests that starting this year, Tubo branded phones will have a separate lineup. As far as Note series is concerned, it will focus on providing mid-range phones to popularize flagship features among a wider audience.

The K-lineup, which will be positioned higher than the Turbo lineup, will include high-end phones offering flagship performance and features. Lastly, the numbered series phones will have entry-level phones, positioned below the Note lineup.

Coming back to the Redmi Turbo 3, it is expected to debut this month in China. The same device is expected to get rebranded as the Poco F6 in the global market. The F6 and F6 Pro, which are said to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, are likely to debut in May in the global market.

Realme recently debuted an affordable 5G smartphone called the Realme 12X in China. The brand has plans to bring a model with the same name to the global markets. In India, the Realme 12X 5G is scheduled to launch on April 2. Now, a new certification has indicated that the device will also be introduced in other regions shortly.

The Realme 12x 5G has been certified by UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), which essentially means that it is greenlit to launch by the regulatory body. The device was identified by model number “RMX3997,” and the certification confirms its Realme 12x 5G moniker. The certification unfortunately does not reveal any details about the specifications. So all we have for now is a specification leak courtesy of tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore.

As per Sudhanshu, the Realme 12x 5G will feature a 6.72-inch LCD screen, offering Full HD+ clarity, a brightness peak at 950 nits, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Inside, it’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chip, with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, expandable to 2TB with a microSD card.

The device will feature a 50-megapixel main camera setup on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls. It will come with Android 14, has an IP54 rating for resisting water and dust, and weighs 188 grams. We usually see a price difference between the Indian and European markets, however, a €364 difference is quite steep.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro has a 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED curved display, offering Pantone-validated colors and a 144Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. It also boasts a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

The chair supposedly can order and deliver food directly to you, controlled by your thoughts! Even personal hygiene is addressed, with the chair offering a built-in shaving function.

The actual humor lies in the extreme nature of these features. The robotic arms are said to be powered by Razer’s fictional “Skynapse Chip” trained on a massive dataset, ensuring near-perfect success in understanding user needs. However, the user has no control over the AI’s actions. The chair itself learns and adapts to best serve the user, even if it means taking unsolicited grooming measures. Think about that for a second.

A semi-nonsensical FAQ section further tries to commit to the joke. Razer suggests users unhappy with the chair’s behavior improve their “gaming skills” to influence its actions. Concerns about the chair’s origins or attempts to deactivate it are dismissed as scams or user error. Very funny Razer.

GTA 5 May be Ported to Android, Nintendo Switch in the Near Future

Hackers leaked the complete source code for Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) online in December 2023, and this new piece of news is a direct consequence of that happening. It follows the theft of GTA VI‘s source code in September 2022. While the source code was initially sold privately for a hefty sum (rumored to be $50,000 USD), it’s now circulating online. Third-party developers are attempting to use this code to port GTA V to platforms like Android, Linux, and the Nintendo Switch.

However, the report warns that these efforts are in early stages. The game can currently only load on these platforms, and significant work is needed to make the actual gameplay function. It’s likely to be a long time before a playable version of GTA V appears on these unauthorized platforms.

Sony Xperia 1 VI could disappoint some fans with its choice of camera hardware

At this point, it is no secret that Sony is working on a new flagship smartphone in its Xperia 1 line, which could be unveiled in the second quarter of the year. Reports so far have dubbed this model the Xperia 1 VI, and have stated that it will come with three state-of-the-art 48MP Exmor T sensors. Now, a new leak on the Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo has emerged claiming that might not be the case after all.

As per the Weibo post, the Xperia 1 VI will still be featuring a 48 MP, f/1.9, 24 mm, 1/1.35 main camera, paired with a 12 MP, f/2.2, 16 mm, 1/2.5 ultra-wide camera and a 12 MP, f/2.3, 85mm, f/2.8, 125mm, 1/3.5 telephoto camera. This appears to be the same camera hardware present on the Xperia 1 V, which made its debut with the Exmor T sensor last year.

If this turns out to be true, then it is likely that Sony is deciding to go on the software improvement route rather than hardware, likely with the help of AI. Although the camera specs might remain the same, the design is very likely to change. It was recently reported that Sony will be making the design of its upcoming Xperia flagship into a more mainstream one, ditching the 21:9 aspect ratio. This will result in the upcoming device being shorter and wider compared to its predecessors.

Sony WH-ULT900N mid-range headphones leaked, will offer many premium features

As per a massive leak via WinFuture, Sony is working on a new pair of over-ear wireless headphones. These new headphones are called the WH-ULT900N, and though they look a lot like the WH-1000XM3, these headphones will launch as mid-range offerings with advanced noise-cancelling tech onboard.

As per the leak, the Sony WH-ULT900N will be equipped with 40mm drivers and neodymium magnets that produce premium audio. The headphones will be offered with different operating modes, covering frequency bands of 5-20,000 or 20-20,000 Hertz. The WH-ULT900N will feature a 520mAh battery, providing up to 30 hours of playback with active noise canceling (ANC) and Bluetooth connection, and up to 50 hours without ANC.

The headphones reportedly support Bluetooth 5.2, allowing for multi-pairing, and are compatible with AAC, LDAC, and SBC codecs for high-quality wireless audio transmission. Users will also benefit from features such as Google Fast Pair, Clear Bass, and voice control capabilities through Google Assistant, Siri, or Amazon Alexa.

These headphones are said to launch in black, white, and “Forest Gray color options, weighing around 255 grams. As for pricing, the report states that the headphones will go for between €180 and €200. Currently, there are no details available on the official launch date and regional availability.

Realme is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in the global market called the Realme C65. After multiple leaks, the brand has now confirmed that the device will be launching on April 4 in Vietnam.

Chase Xu, Realme’s Vice President, announced the news and mentioned plans for the C65 to hit markets in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, the Philippines, and elsewhere, though no specific timeline was given.

The brand has also revealed posts of the Realme C65 on social media revealing color options: black, purple, and gold. The poster also confirms that the official design of the C65 is indeed quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy S22. The device will feature a centered punch-hole display and include the Dynamic Button from the Realme 12 5G.

In addition to the official stuff, tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore has leaked the C65’s specifications. As per Sudhanshu, the Realme C65 will boast a 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and 625 nits brightness. It will run on a Helio G85 chipset, support a 50MP main camera with a flicker sensor, and an 8MP front camera.

The phone will feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and an IP54 rating to protect against dust and accidental splashes of water. Lenovo launched its Cobalt Co-45 gaming desktop build in China on March 31 with an initial price of 3999 Yuan (~$560). The system is powered by the Intel Core i5-12400F CPU and NVIDIA GeForce 1660Ti 6GB graphics and runs Windows 11.
