Vivo TWS 3e inches closer to global launch, Picks up TDRA certification

Chinese smartphone brands are currently on a streak of launching Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship phones. The Realme GT 5 Pro featuring the said chip is scheduled to break cover on Dec. 7 in China. Today, Realme CMO Xu Qi confirmed the base configuration and display specifications of the device.

According to Xu Qi, the Realme GT 5 Pro’s base variant will have 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It can be said based on a recent report that this variant could be priced at 3,499 yuan (~$495).

The Realme GT 5 Pro was spotted in TENAA certification’s database recently. The listing revealed that the device has a 6.78-inch OLED curved-edge display that offers a 1.5K resolution of 2780 x 1264 pixels. The poster shared by Realme and its CMO has confirmed the other details about the GT 5 Pro’s BOE-supplied screen.

The GT 5 Pro’s TÜV-certified display features 8T LTPO technology, enabling an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 0.5Hz to 144Hz for smooth visuals. It supports Pro-XDR HDR technology, and it achieves a peak brightness of 4500 nits along with a global max brightness of 1600 nits. Additionally, the display incorporates advanced elements like 2160Hz PWM dimming, a 2160Hz touch sampling rate, DC dimming, and 20000 level dimming, contributing to an immersive visual experience.

The GT 5 Pro will come with up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The device is expected to feature a 32-megapixel front camera, and a 50-megapixel (LYT-808, with OIS) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 50-megapixel (IMX890 periscope telephoto) triple camera unit. It will come with other features, such as a 12,000mm2 heat dissipation unit and Realme UI 5-based Android 14.

It appears that the Nubia will become the brand to launch three Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones. It recently unveiled the Red Magic 9 Pro and Red Magic 9 Pro gaming phones featuring the SD8G3 chip. A new development reveals that the Nubia Z60 Ultra equipped with the same chip will debut in December.

The above posters confirm that the Nubia Z60 Ultra will be unveiled in December 2023. The company did not reveal anything else about the device. It is also said to be working on another model named the Nubai Z50 SE, which may feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It is likely that the Nubia Z50 SE may debut along with the Z60 Ultra.

Coming to the Z60 Ultra, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone will arrive with a 1.5K OLED screen featuring an in-screen front-facing camera. It could be equipped with a 16-megapixel selfie camera like the Red Magic 9 series.

The device is likely to pack a 6,000mAh battery and 80W fast charging. Its rear camera setup may comprise a 50-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 1/1.55-inch sensor and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with a 1/2-inch sensor.

The device was spotted with model number NX721J on Geekbench in October. It may arrive with 12 GB of RAM and Mi OS-based Android 14. In related news, Nubia is also said to be working on its first foldable phone, the Nubia Z60 Fold featuring the SD8G3. It is likely to launch in Q1 2023.

Now the national quality certification body of China, namely the China Quality Certification Center certifies the Nova 12 Ultra. So the device may be on track for an imminent market release, with expectations pointing towards a launch in December. The Nova 12 Ultra, identified as “ADA-AL00U,” received certification as a digital mobile phone equipped with 5G capabilities, revealing that the Nova 12 Ultra will be powered by a Kirin 5G chip.

It appears to be a downclocked version of Mate 60 Pro’s Kirin 9000s chip

The certification details indicate that the 5G-enabled Kirin chip powering the Nova 12 Ultra is likely a marginally downclocked version of the Kirin 9000s. Specifically, a reduction of 0.13GHz in the frequency of the performance core results in a nuanced adjustment to the core cluster configuration, now standing at 1 x 2.49GHz + 3 x 2.15GHz + 4 x 1.53GHz. Notably, the Maliang 910 GPU accompanying the chip remains unchanged.

While the benchmark numbers of this chip is expected to be slightly lower than that of the Kirin 9000s, the difference in overall user experience should not be too large. A 5G chip in the Nova series is expected to resonate well with offline user groups. The affordability factor, coupled with the 5G support, is expected to stimulate its sales.

The Nova 11 series introduced an Ultra model with some of the premium features of the Huawei P/Mate series devices, such as two-way satellite messaging. The Nova 12 Ultra may push it further with the addition of satellite calling functionality inherited from the Huawei Mate 60 Pro.

While the front of the Vivo S18 series is not revealed in the new poster, a recently released poster hints that it will have a curved-edge OLED panel.

Leaked information indicates that the upcoming Vivo S18 and S18 Pro will feature robust performance with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9200 Plusv chipsets, respectively. The S18 and S18 Pro are said to be the slimmest phones with a 5,000mAh battery in 2023. It appears that the brand will confirm the launch date of the Vivo S18 series on Monday (Dec. 4).

To recall, it was recently revealed by the same tipster that the brand is also working on a Dimensity 9300-powered tablet, which may carry the iQOO Pad 2 branding. Hence, there is a possibility that the 8.8-inch iQOO tablet could be called the iQOO Pad Air or SE.

The tipster also revealed that the 8.8-inch iQOO tablet will be announced after the Vivo Pad 3 in the second quarter of 2024. According to reports, the Vivo Pad 3 tablet and the Vivo X Fold 3 series of foldable phones are expected to launch in April 2024. Hence, it appears that the alleged iQOO Pad Air may break cover in April or May 2024.

Unfortunately, there is no other information available about the alleged iQOO Pad Air. It is advisable to wait for further reports to learn more about the mysterious tablet.

iQOO has an eventful December ahead, with plans to unveil the iQOO Neo 9 and Neo 9 Pro at an undisclosed date. Following the recent revelation of the launch date for the Redmi 13C in India, the brand has officially confirmed the arrival of the 5G variant as well. Both the 4G and 5G versions of the Redmi 13C are set to debut in India on December 6. Although the exact launch time remains undisclosed, it is anticipated to occur around 12 PM IST.

French startup Éclair will soon unveil its AI-powered e-bike. The bike uses AI to predict the appropriate rider assist level for a seamless and natural ride. Éclair started business in 2021 and targets sustainability in its operations. The company sources all its production needs from France and neighboring European countries.

The new Éclair AI-powered e-bike will come with an array of tech features to underscore its artificial intelligence bent. The e-bike is yet to be named but is similar to the Smalo PX2 e-bike. The Smalo PX2 uses AI to learn the rider’s habits and adjust assistance automatically. The upcoming Éclair e-bike is made of steel and aluminum with a solid focus on low carbon emissions. It has a sporty frame that is as sturdy as it can get for rigorous trips. Éclair claims the e-bike is lightweight, easy to use, and tech-loaded.

The Éclair’s upcoming eponymous e-bike is designed for commuter purposes. The bike’s AI system learns based on the specific habits of the rider to provide assistance in sync with the rider’s riding pattern and terrain. The system is capable of predicting rider needs and eliminates the need to switch between ride modes. The AI system of the e-bike will also provide maximum power during starts for an easier and seamless launch. The Éclair’s AI-powered e-bike’s tech architecture is a culmination of Éclair’s collaboration with eBikeLabs for its eBike OS application.

The rider’s smartphone in the Éclair’s upcoming e-bike is used as a control screen for the bike. The bike thus omits a physical display on the top tube or handlebars. There are no release details yet for the Éclair e-bike. It is still under development but a big announcement is expected soon on the full specs and pricing of the bike.
