Valve Steam Deck offers Samsung OLED screens, Likely no BOE partnership

Valve released the original Steam Deck a year ago, which included a 7-inch LCD screen provided by BOE.

Now, a few weeks have passed since Valve debuted the Steam Deck OLED, a revised version of their portable gaming gadget. The inclusion of an OLED display, which surely improves the gaming experience, was the biggest upgrade.

China’s BOE display maker was formerly thought to be a contender as well, but Samsung’s legal action against BOE is going to likely prevent it from taking Samsung’s orders for Steam Deck OLED panels.

Samsung Display provides Valve Steam Deck with OLED screens
Valve Steam Deck

Steam Deck OLED could be supplied exclusively by Samsung

It was initially thought that Valve would purchase OLED panels for the new Steam Deck from this Chinese display manufacturer as well, given their prior business ties and BOE’s aggressive pricing strategy to beat Samsung Display. However, last month, Samsung launched a case against BOE with the US International Trade Commission, alleging that BOE was infringing on Samsung’s patents for OLED display modules and components and had broken rules against unfair methods of competition. This could potentially hamper the supply deal with BOE for Steam Deck displays.

To recap, the latest Steam Deck comes with a resolution of 1280 x 800, and its refresh rate has upgraded from 60Hz to 90Hz in comparison to its previous editions. It also uses AMD’s 6nm accelerated processing unit, weighs 30 grams less, and is compatible with the most recent version of Wi-Fi.

Samsung is expected to benefit from this agreement, and it will undoubtedly be pleased that no one else will be able to take a share of the new Steam Deck systems that are anticipated to be sold this year.

Google Pixel 8a wallpapers surface online: Download them here

Although the official launch of the Google Pixel 8a is still several months away, leaks have already begun to provide insights into the device. The latest revelation shows the Pixel 8a’s wallpapers, which have been circulating online.

Aptly named the “Minerals” collection, these wallpapers were shared by SmartPrix and Kamila Wojciechowska, both reputable sources for Google Pixel information leaks.

The collection features three captivating wallpapers, each with a light and dark version to suit individual preferences: Titanite, Barite, and Hematite.

The wallpapers are created by Andrew Zuckerman, the same artist behind the Pixel 8 series’ default wallpapers. Each of them showcases the intricate patterns and natural beauty of minerals.

The Titanite wallpapers, codenamed “emerald,” feature a vibrant green emerald stone, while the Barite wallpapers, codenamed “sky,” highlight the mineral on a serene blue background.

This blue background could potentially serve as the stock wallpaper for the Pixel 8a’s Bay color variant. Lastly, the “licorice” Hematite wallpapers exhibit the mineral in a deep blue hue, mirroring the Pixel 8 Pro’s Obsidian shade.

In addition to the “Minerals” collection, rumors suggest that the Pixel 8a may also include a “porcelain” wallpaper and a Motif collection illustration designed by Finnish artist Antti Kalevi. These wallpapers, along with the “Minerals” collection, are available for download in high resolution.

Infinix Note 40 Pro Bluetooth SIG certified, may launch in December

Infinix has a couple of new devices lined up for launch in different markets. Yesterday, the brand confirmed that it will announce the Infinix Smart 8 HD on Dec. 8. Meanwhile, the Hot 40i, Hot 40, and Hot 40 Pro models have been spotted on platforms such as Google Play Console, Bluetooth SIG certification, FCC, and some other certification databases. This indicates that the Hot 40 series may begin at some point in December. Another phone that may debut this year is the Infinix Note 40 Pro. The reason behind it is that it has also been certified by the Bluetooth SIG authority.

Infinix Note 40 Pro Bluetooth SIG certified

The Bluetooth certification of the Infinix Note 40 Pro has revealed it has the X6580 model number and supports Bluetooth 5.3. The Bluetooth SIG certification is typically one of the last steps before a device is officially launched. Hence, it appears that it will take a month or two for the Note 40 Pro to go official. Unfortunately, the rumor mill is yet to reveal anything else about the device.

Infinix mainly focused on the charging capabilities of the Note 30 by offering features like bypass charging and up to 68W fast charging (Note 30 VIP). Hence, the Note 40 Pro is expected to continue this emphasis on charging capabilities, possibly introducing innovative features and advancements in fast charging technology to enhance the overall user experience.

As far as other upcoming Infinix phones are concerned, the Hot 40i, Hot 40, and Hot 40 Pro will arrive with the Unisoc T606, Helio G88, and Helio G99 chipsets, respectively. The Hot 40i will have an HD+ display and 4 GB of RAM, whereas the Hot 40 and 40 Pro will be equipped with an FHD+ screen and 8 GB of RAM. The entire series will run on the XOS-based Android 13. In addition, the company is also working on the Infinix Buds NC earbuds, and its arrival seems imminent as it has also been approved by the Bluetooth SIG authority.

Inflection AI Unveils Inflection-2: A Powerhouse Language Model Surpassing Google and Meta

Inflection AI has unveiled its second-generation large language model (LLM), Inflection-2, positioning itself as a formidable competitor to industry giants Google and Meta. Trained on an impressive 5,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs with approximately 10^25 FLOPs, Inflection-2 boasts performance levels comparable to Google’s PaLM 2 and even outperforms it in benchmarks such as MMLU, TriviaQA, HellaSwag, and GSM8k.

Notably, Inflection-2 stands as the world’s second most capable LLM, trailing only behind OpenAI’s GPT-4. Despite its size, this powerhouse model reduces costs and increases serving speed compared to its predecessor, Inflection-1, thanks to its transition from A100 to H100 GPUs, showcasing remarkable training efficiency.

Designed with a focus on serving efficiency, Inflection-2 is slated to power the Pi chatbot, marking a significant milestone in the quest to create a personal AI accessible to everyone. The company has worked with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and CoreWeave in building the AI cluster.

Inflection AI underscores its commitment to safety, security, and trustworthiness in very large model training. The model aligns with global ethical standards and has voluntarily committed to the White House’s ethical AI guidelines set in July 2023.

Benchmark results showcase Inflection-2’s superiority over its predecessor and external models, such as LLaMA-2, Grok-1, PaLM-2, Claude-2, and GPT-4. Particularly noteworthy is its exceptional performance in chain-of-thought reasoning, outshining even Claude 2 in evaluations on MMLU (5-shot).

CEO Mustafa Suleyman emphasizes the importance of AI safety and ethical standards, urging empathy and forgiveness in light of recent challenges faced by rivals like OpenAI. Despite acknowledging the competitive nature of the industry, Suleyman hopes for understanding and collaboration, as Inflection-2 prepares to usher in a new era of innovation in the rapidly evolving Silicon Valley landscape.

What is Inflection AI:

Inflection AI, which was founded in 2022 is a pioneering technology company structured as a public benefit corporation. Renowned for its collaboration with Nvidia in developing hardware for generative artificial intelligence, the company made headlines in June 2023 by securing a substantial $1.3 billion USD in funding. Their flagship product, Pi, is a chatbot designed to serve as a personal intelligence assistant. Boasting a unique user experience focus, Pi aims to provide emotional support through interactive text-based dialogues with users, incorporating elements of kindness, diplomacy on sensitive topics, and humor. This innovative venture draws comparisons with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, showcasing Inflection AI’s advancements in the frontier of artificial intelligence applications.

Meizu will announce the Meizu 21 featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on Nov. 30 in China. The company recently revealed the front design of the smartphone. Today, it rolled out a couple of posters to confirm its display resolution and battery size.

Meizu 21 display resolution, battery size

Meizu has officially verified that the Meizu 21 comes with a 6.55-inch Samsung AMOLED display. The latest promotional materials affirm that the screen will boast a 1.5K resolution and feature 1920Hz PWM dimming. Furthermore, the Meizu 21’s display has obtained SGS low blue light certification and flicker-free certification. The screen will offer an amazing viewing experience as it is flanked by symmetrical 1.74mm bezels on all four sides.

The Meizu 21 has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a chipset that is also available in flagship phones of various brands like Xiaomi, iQOO, Nubia, Realme, and OnePlus. However, the Meizu 21 promises enhanced performance compared to its competitors, attributing this advantage to the integration of the company’s OneMind 10.5 AI engine. This engine promises Meizu-specific customizations for an optimized user experience.

Meizu also confirmed that the Meizu 21 packs a 4,800mAh battery. According to the brand, with OneMind 10.5 and the energy-efficient Samsung AMOLED screen, the phone achieves an impressive 8.2 hours in extreme endurance mode, testing from 0 to 100%. In other words, the Meizu 21, when subjected to a demanding test simulating heavy usage from a fully charged (100%) to a completely depleted battery, demonstrated an impressive endurance or battery life of 8.2 hours. Meizu claimed that this performance surpasses that of competitors on the same platform with a 5,100mAh battery that achieves 7.4 hours in similar testing.

The 3C certification for the Meizu 21 indicates potential support for 80W fast charging. Interestingly, Meizu has not yet provided teasers for the Meizu 21 Pro, hinting that it might not be launched simultaneously with the Meizu 21 on Nov. 30.

In addition to confirming the launch date, Realme has not disclosed any additional details about the GT 5 Pro. The poster released by the brand provides only a glimpse of the round camera module and mentions the announcement date without revealing further information.

Reports have revealed that the RMX3888 Realme device, which has appeared in the databases of Geekbench, AnTuTu, and China’s TENAA certification platform, is the upcoming Realme GT 5 Pro. The same device has now received approval from the 3C authority in China, which reveals that it may ship with a 100W fast charger.

So far, the brand has confirmed that the Realme GT 5 Pro will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and its rear camera setup will include a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-808 primary camera and a 50-megapixel IMX890 periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 120x digital zoom. Redmi K70 Pro official renders released, display size, primary, telephoto cameras revealed

On Nov. 29, Redmi is set to unveil the Redmi K70 series smartphones in China. A hands-on video recently showcased the Redmi K70e, but the rear design was not disclosed. Today, the company released official renders of the Redmi K70 Pro to dispel any mystery surrounding its design. It is anticipated that the K70e and K70 will have a very similar appearance based on these official renders.

Redmi has revealed that the Redmi K70 Pro will arrive in black and white shades. It is speculated that it will also be available in blue and purple (or pink) options. Speaking about its design, the K70 Pro can be seen sporting a narrow design with a width of only 74.9, making it comfortable enough to hold with a single hand. It has a metal middle frame, with the top edge housing a microphone and an IR blaster. None of the images released by the brand reveal the bottom design of the device. Its left edge appears barren, whereas the right side features a volume rocker and a power key.

The Redmi K70 Pro features a 6.67-inch OLED display, which seemingly supports a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The rear shell of the device has a raised rectangle module that houses three cameras and an LED flash. The images confirm that the K70 Pro will have an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel primary camera and a telephoto camera that offers a 2x optical zoom.

The smartphone is already confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It is likely that the topmost variant of the phone may offer 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It is likely to pack a 5,120mAh battery with 120W fast charging and run on HyperOS-based Android 14. While the K70 and K70e may be released as Poco-branded phones in the global market, the K70 Pro may remain confined to the Chinese market.

iQOO 12 Pro Review: When The Muscle Guy Dressed Up As A Gentleman

As a sub-brand of Vivo, iQOO has always focused on making high-performance gaming phones. But it seems that iQOO realized it’s not enough to just please gamers, so their phones have slowly changed from being biased towards gamers to more towards the normal person. This iQOO 12 Pro, instead of being a gaming phone, it’s more like a regular phone that’s better suited for gaming. It may be a bummer for gamers, but it does get better for more people.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy iQOO 12 Pro @Giztop with coupon: GIZMO

Design

First of all, this new look is much better than before. Unlike previous iQOO phones, its camera module has become much more rounded, making this phone a lot gentler. If the logo was blocked out, I would never have guessed this was a new iQOO phone. I would say this new design will get a lot of non-gamers interest, and it’s definitely one of the best upgrades to the iQOO 12 Pro.

I’m also happy for the iQOO flagship phone which finally supports IP68, and the IR emitter is still on the top, but USB 2.0 makes me not so happy. I know that people probably don’t use USB to transfer data very often anymore, so you don’t really care if it’s 2.0 or 3.0. But for the same price, other phones have USB 3.0 already. I just don’t get it, why should normal consumers like me and you should suffer this?

Camera

Normally we don’t talk much about the camera on “gaming phones”, but this time it’s different. 12 Pro’s camera is already at a very good level. At least when we look at the specs, it’s a bit better than the Xiaomi 14 Pro at the same price range.

There are no well-known camera brands in this, but the color style is quite pleasing. The dynamic range of all three cameras is excellent, and there are no signs of over-sharpening. The iQOO 12 Pro is really handy when it comes to taking photos of food and pets, it’s a huge improvement over its predecessor.

Especially in macro mode, you can choose to use the ultra-wide camera to get close enough to take detailed photos. Or, you can choose to take photos with a telephoto focusing distance of 15cm. The benefit is of course that you can get a shallower depth of field. And I can’t believe that iQOO phones can actually switch between three lenses in 4K recording one day. The camera system on this iQOO 12 Pro is totally good enough for most people.

But as an expert in mobile photography, the iQOO 12 Pro still leaves a lot behind. For example, the front-facing camera still only records 1080p 30fps video and doesn’t have any image stabilization. So Vloggers will have to say goodbye to the iQOO 12 Pro.

There’s also an old problem from the Vivo family: you can’t use the telephoto camera in very low light. If you zoom in to 3x, it’ll shoot the object with the main camera and then do some cropping, instead of shooting like the real telephoto camera. I don’t understand why iQOO just won’t let me use this telephoto camera. The Xiaomi 14, which clearly has a smaller sensor, can do that without any problem.

Also, for example, it will be cooler when shooting yellow objects, and the purple-fringing issue with telephoto lenses has not been resolved. It seems that the iQOO 12 Pro still has some gaps compared to the main photography phones.

Display

The iQOO 12 Pro’s screen gets the usual upgrade from Samsung’s E6 panel to the E7. The biggest change is that the HDR window’s maximum brightness has almost doubled. It’s still 1440Hz dimming at low brightness, but you can go to developer mode and change it to DC-like dimming mode.

If you bought the iQOO 12 Pro and feel like the screen isn’t quite as sharp as it should be, it’s because the default resolution is 1080p, so remember to go to Settings and change it to UHD.

The screen itself is nothing much I can complain about, but I do have a bit of a gripe about the fingerprint recognition. It’s still ultrasonic recognition though, and it works pretty well. But the 12 Pro is definitely a step back from the super large fingerprint recognition of the iQOO 11 Pro.

Benchmark & Gaming

You never need to worry about the performance of an iQOO phone, as the 12 Pro uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as expected. all the stats are in line with the normal 8 Gen 3 performance which is great.

I would have expected the iQOO 12 Pro to completely conquer the Genshin Impact because a smaller phone like the Xiaomi 14 has almost done it. But in reality the iQOO 12 Pro isn’t that much better, it is better in stability, but at the cost of higher power consumption.

They all look pretty much the same, so why we would say iQOO 12 Pro focuses on performance, the answer is the self-developed Q1 chip in the phone, which improves the smoothness and resolution of your games. While I think it’s a great feature, I don’t think it’s going to be useful for non-Chinese users. Most of the games that support this feature are Chinese games, maybe the only one you guys will play is Genshin Impact.

Battery & Charging

The iQOO 12 Pro is no longer the 200W charging monster it once was, but you can’t be too critical with 120W. 26 minutes to fill up should be more than most people need. And it has wireless charging, which is fantastic. One thing I really like about iQOO: their charger always with USB-C port and supports PD 65W charging, I urge all brands to learn from it! Even the 12 Pro has a super large battery, it lasts about as long as any other phone IF you play a lot of big games.

Conclusion

As you can see, the iQOO 12 Pro doesn’t look like what we call a “gaming phone”. As the title says, it has a powerful performance but looks so elegant. It’s similar to the Xiaomi 14 Pro, with photography first, and performance second. Whereas the iQOO 12 Pro is all about gaming and then the photos are pretty good too. Which one to choose depends on whether you prefer photography or gaming.

Stellantis Issues Global Recall of Jeep Wrangler 4xe Over Battery Fire Risks

Stellantis, the parent company of the renowned Jeep brand, has announced a major recall of its plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler 4xe models, affecting over 44,000 units globally. This decision, rooted in safety concerns, highlights the challenges and responsibilities faced by automotive manufacturers in the era of electric vehicles (EVs).

There is a potential fire risk associated with the high-voltage battery pack

At the heart of this recall is a potential fire risk associated with the high-voltage battery pack in the Jeep Wrangler 4xe models. Following a routine check of customer data, Stellantis discovered eight instances of vehicle fires. Notably, these incidents occurred while the vehicles were parked and, in most cases, connected to chargers. This situation underscores the complexity and potential risks inherent in modern EV battery technology.

Jeep Wrangler

The recall predominantly impacts vehicles in the United States, with significant numbers also in Canada and other regions. Owners of the affected 2021-2024 model-year vehicles are advised to avoid recharging their hybrids and to park them at a safe distance from structures and other vehicles. This advice reflects a prudent approach to risk management, prioritizing customer safety over convenience.

Addressing the issue involves a software update and, in some cases, a complete battery pack replacement. This approach is indicative of the technical challenges faced by automakers in the rapidly evolving EV market, where software plays a crucial role in vehicle performance and safety. The company’s proactive customer communication strategy demonstrates its commitment to customer satisfaction and safety.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has been a notable success in the U.S. market, outperforming rivals in sales. This recall, however, puts a spotlight on the challenges of maintaining quality and safety standards in the competitive and fast-paced EV sector. As the automotive industry transitions to electric powertrains, manufacturers like Stellantis must navigate the fine line between innovation and reliability.

The bike has 24-inch wheels that are suited to city driving

What makes the Storck Name:2 stand out is its clever blend of compact design and sporty performance. Its size and shape are reminiscent of a BMX bike, with 24-inch wheels that make it easy to zip through crowded city streets. Despite its small size, it doesn’t compromise on comfort. The tall seatpost and standard handlebars ensure a comfortable ride, whether you’re commuting to work or just out for a leisurely ride.

E-bike

But it’s not just about looks. The Name:2 is a powerhouse. It’s as light as a feather for an e-bike, weighing no more than 17 kilograms. This is thanks to Storck’s innovative use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced material, the same used in their race bikes. For those who love a bit of tech in their ride, the Name:2 doesn’t disappoint. It comes with a high-performance 12-speed Shimano XT M8100 drivetrain, ensuring smooth gear transitions. Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is all Set to Outshine its Predecessors

Hyundai is making bold strides with its Ioniq 6 N, rumored to be the most powerful model in its N series. Expected to debut by 2025, this electric anomaly is set to redefine boundaries in the segment.

The car will hit 0 to 60 mph in a staggering 3.2 seconds

Hyundai’s journey towards electrification gained momentum with the Ioniq 5 N, but the Ioniq 6 N is set to surpass its predecessor. Equipped with a dual-motor setup, it’s anticipated to deliver a staggering 641 horsepower. Though its torque remains under wraps, it’s speculated to exceed the 545 lb-ft offered by the Ioniq 5 N. These figures suggest a vehicle capable of extraordinary acceleration, likely outperforming the Ioniq 5 N’s 3.2-second sprint to 60 mph.

hyundai

The Ioniq 6 N’s design borrows insights from the RN22e concept, unveiled last year as a precursor to Hyundai’s electric N models. The RN22e, with its 577 horsepower, not only matched the Kia EV6 GT but also served as a testing ground for the E-GMP platform, crucial for high-performance electric vehicles.

Despite this electric focus, Hyundai hasn’t abandoned gasoline-powered cars. The upcoming Elantra N is expected to feature an even more robust gasoline engine. However, the emphasis on electric N models is unmistakable, driven by tightening global emissions regulations.

This move isn’t just about compliance. Hyundai is committed to keeping the thrill of driving alive, even in an electric future. The Ioniq 6 N stands as a testament to this commitment, blending environmental responsibility with the exhilaration of high performance.
