On September 12, Apple will reveal its new iPhones at the “Wanderlust” event. They’re expected to release four models: iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max (which might also be called iPhone 15 Ultra). We’ve talked about the fancy features of the Pro versions, but the regular ones are getting some cool upgrades too. This could make a lot of people think about upgrading.
Design & display
In terms of design, there are some significant improvements in store. When it comes to the rear of the phones, both the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to adopt a design similar to that of the iPhone 14 models, featuring a dual camera setup. However, there’s a rumor that the back will have frosted glass. Typically, this frosted glass finish has been reserved for the Pro models, while the regular models had a glossy finish. The frame of the device is said to be made out of Aluminium, providing durability, and the silent toggle button will be present on the left side.
Looking at the front of the phones, it’s anticipated that the display sizes and resolutions will remain the same as last year’s models. This means the iPhone 15 is likely to sport a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen with a resolution of 2532 × 1170 pixels. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Plus might feature a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 2778 x 1284 pixels. It’s worth noting that neither of them is expected to have the ProMotion feature, which offers a 120Hz refresh rate. Instead, they are set to feature 60Hz panels. On a different note, Apple is rumored to introduce the Dynamic Island feature on these devices.
For those who might not be familiar, Apple’s “Dynamic Island” represents a fresh approach to the “notch” design, which was introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Instead of the conventional blacked-out space at the top of the screen, Dynamic Island features a pill-shaped cutout that has the ability to change its shape and size. It’s an interactive element that can display various information like incoming calls, alerts, notifications, Face ID authentication, turn-by-turn navigation, music playback controls, and more. What’s intriguing is that you can tap or long-press on this area to access different functions or launch applications, essentially serving as a multitasking shortcut. Despite its versatility, Dynamic Island still conceals the iPhone’s TrueDepth front camera and the sensors responsible for Face ID.
Performance
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to be at least as powerful as last year’s Pro models since they are said to pack the Apple A16 Bionic chipset. Going by Apple’s own statements, the A16 Bionic chip has a 7% faster CPU than the A15 Bionic in the iPhone 14. It has a base clock speed of 3.46GHz compared to the 3.23GHz on the A15. To give you a better idea of how much improvement you can expect, the AnTuTu V9 score of the A15 is 805,699 points, whereas the A16 is usually around 947,554 points.
With that said, the upcoming 15 and 15 Plus models are likely to maintain 6GB of RAM as a starting point and begin with 128GB of storage. Another noteworthy enhancement comes in the form of battery capacity. According to the report, the iPhone 15 is expected to be powered by a 3,877mAh battery, while the 15 Plus is slated to receive a 4,912mAh battery. This represents an 18% increase in battery size for the iPhone 15 and a 13.6% bump for the 15 Plus, compared to their predecessors.
As we know, Apple is finally making its transition to a USB-C charging port this year for the entire iPhone lineup. Rumor has it that the brand will supply a braided, color-matched USB-C to USB-C cable in the box. If you have an old 5W USB-A port charger, you will have to buy a new one this year.
Camera
Another major upgrade is coming in the camera department. As per reports, base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are expected to feature an Apple-exclusive 48-megapixel Sony image sensor with ƒ/1.6 aperture for the main camera, which is a substantial upgrade from the 12-megapixel main camera on the iPhone 14. The increase in megapixels will allow for higher-resolution images with improved detail. There will also be a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor onboard with ƒ/2.4 aperture. The front camera inside the Dynamic Island is expected to have a 12-megapixel sensor with ƒ/1.9 aperture and auto-focus.
Pricing & color options
Unlike the Pro models, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to debut with similar price tags. This means that the iPhone 15 will start at $799, whereas the 15 Plus model will start at $899. As for color options, leaks suggest that we can expect these devices to be available in Cyan, light blue, black, starlight, yellow, and coral pink at launch.
Apple has released a new security update for its iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and Apple Watch to address two zero-day vulnerabilities. Zero-day vulnerabilities are security flaws that are unknown to the software vendor and have not yet been patched. This makes them a serious threat, as attackers can exploit them without any resistance from the software.
The vulnerabilities addressed in the latest update are CVE-2023-41064 and CVE-2023-41061. They allow attackers to install malware on a device by loading a malicious image or attachment. The malware can then be used to steal data, track the user’s location, or take control of the device.
These vulnerabilities were first reported by the Citizen Lab, a spyware research group, at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto. Citizen Lab says that the vulnerabilities were being used to install NSO Group’s Pegasus mercenary spyware onto the iPhone. Not in the know, Pegasus is a powerful spyware tool that infects a phone and sends back data, including photos, messages, and audio / video recordings.
So it’s recommended that all users update their devices to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS as soon as possible. The updates can be downloaded from the Settings app.
This is the second zero-day vulnerability that Apple has patched in recent months. In July, Apple released an update to address a zero-day vulnerability that was being exploited by attackers to install malware on iPhones and iPads.
The frequency of zero-day vulnerabilities is increasing, and it is important for users to keep their devices up to date with the latest security patches. By doing so, they can help to protect themselves from these serious threats.

Now, the device has appeared in an official listing on the China Telecom website with model number PJG110. The listing reveals the key specifications as well as the official-looking images of the smartphone. Previously, as per reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the OPPO A2 Pro is tentatively expected to launch on September 15.
OPPO A2 Pro appears on China Telecom website
As per the China Telecom listing, the OPPO A2 Pro has a curved display with a center-aligned punch-hole cutout and nearly no bezels except for the top and bottom chin. The device has a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel bearing an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is integrated with a fingerprint scanner.
The OPPO A2 Pro has a protruding circular camera module housing a 64MP main sensor and a 2MP depth lens. There is an 8MP front-facing selfie snapper.
Under the hood, a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor based on 6nm process powers the OPPO A2 Pro. It is offered in 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB RAM and storage configurations. The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit and runs on Android 13 OS out of the box.

Rumors about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 are still swirling, and a new leak from a well-known tech YouTuber suggests that the console’s specs could be even more powerful than previously imagined. The leak, which comes from RedGamingTech, claims that the Switch 2 from Nintendo could be powered by a MediaTek processor with 2x Cortex-A4 cores, 2x Cortex-A720 cores, and 4x Cortex-A520 cores.
Previously, the Switch 2 was rumored to feature a custom Nvidia Tegra T239 “Drake” processor. This would still be a huge upgrade over the OG Switch’s Tegra X1 SoC, but its specs are starting to become dated. The Tegra Orin chip family, which the T239 is based on, was released in 2018. If the Switch 2 is released in the second half of 2024, that would leave a six-year gap between console and SoC architecture.
So if the YouTuber’s claims are true, the MediaTek processor could be a significant upgrade over the Tegra X1 processor that powers the OG Switch, and it could potentially put the Switch 2 on par with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S in terms of performance.
The leak also claims that the Switch 2 GPU could have 12 to 16 streaming multiprocessors (SMs) based on newer Ada Lovelace microarchitecture. This would be even more powerful than the GPU in the Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin 32GB, which has 14 SMs with older-gen Ampere architecture. In addition to its powerful hardware, the Switch 2 is also rumored to have 12 to 16GB of RAM and Tegra X1 backwards compatibility.
Of course, it’s important to take these rumors with a grain of salt. Nothing has been officially confirmed by Nintendo, and the Switch 2 is still a long way from release. However, if these rumors are true, the Switch 2 could be a major force in the gaming industry.
After a lot of rumors and leaks, it finally looks like the Galaxy S23 FE could launch soon. Reports suggest the device will be launching this quarter alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and other products. While we wait for an official launch date, the fan edition model has been spotted on TENAA with its key specifications and images. Here are the details.
TENAA certification authority has revealed the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will unsurprisingly look identical to the vanilla S23. However, the specifications of the fan edition model will be different. The authority reveals the handset features a 6.3-inch display with a 2340×1080 pixel resolution. The display supports 16 million colors or 8-bit color depth. You can also expect a 120Hz refresh rate on the smartphone.
It measures 158.0 x 76.5 x 8.2mm and weighs around 210g. Rumors have suggested that the S23 FE will come with either a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or an Exynos 2200 chipset, depending on the market. The device spotted on TENAA is certified with a Snapdragon chip with an octa-core CPU architecture and a 2.99 GHz peak frequency. It’s complemented by 8GB of RAM and storage options of either 128GB or 256GB.
For photography, the S23 FE could feature a triple-camera setup, headlined by a 50MP main camera, an 8MP sensor, and another 12MP camera. The selfie camera department may sport a 10MP snapper. Powering this device is a 4,370mAh battery, expected to support 25W fast charging, as revealed in the TENAA certification. On the software side of things, the Galaxy S23 FE will run on Android 13, layered by Samsung’s One UI 5.1.
Our old friend DOOGEE is launching a new phone again. Everyone knows that DOOGEE specializes in making different kinds of rugged phones. And this one, the DOOGEE V31 GT, is our star of the day. A budget-rugged phone, but with a few features that make it special.
Unboxing
The accessories in the V31 GT box are rather basic, like the manual, warranty card, charger, and charging cable. Of course, there is also a protective film that comes with every DOOGEE phone and a kit for applying the film. The charger is 66W with a Type-C port and has a full range of charging protocols. I still love brands that are willing to include high-spec chargers.
Design
After reviewing many rugged phones, I realized that the biggest difference between them must and will be the design. Every rugged phone has its own unique design, the V31 GT is no exception. It uses the popular round lens module in the center, the back panel has a carbon fiber texture on both sides, and the frosted texture in the middle has a gradient color transition. If you look closely, the part near the lens module is on the whiter side.
389g of weight is not light, but when you know that the battery capacity is 10800mAh, it doesn’t seem that heavy. The SIM card slot can be removed with your fingernail, it also supports 2 SIMs or 1 SIM 1 Micro SD Card. As a rugged phone, the V31 GT is also water and dust resistant certified of course.
So far, the V31 GT looks like an ordinary rugged phone, so what exactly is the special thing about it? The answer is the speaker. Its speaker is not on the frame, nor on the back. Instead, they are on the front, near the top and bottom sides of the display.
Speaker
Anyone who is familiar with rugged phones knows that most rugged phones don’t have stereo speakers, and the position of the speakers is also not so reasonable. But DOOGEE knows that for a good sound experience, dual speakers in the right position are necessary. That’s why the V31 GT is one of the rugged phones that can bring you a good audio experience, and it’s possible to play Dolby Atmos movies on this phone. These two front speakers are the key to making the V31 GT special.
Performance & Others
The processor of the V31 GT is MediaTek Dimensity 1080, which is a mid-range processor. You guys shouldn’t expect too much performance from it, DOOGEE can only ensure that you can run most apps smoothly most of the time when you’re not gaming.
About the gaming experience, as long as you don’t play big games like Genshin for example, other games will run smoothly. On PUBG mobile, it still manages to stabilize at 60fps at smooth graphics and doesn’t show signs of overheating.
The V31 GT comes with an FHD+ Waterdrop LCD Display. As I mentioned just now, it has a large 10,800mAh battery. With a power-saving processor, I’d say it should be fine for three to four days of use without recharging.
Camera
Another selling point of the V31 GT is the camera. It has a rare IMX 766 sensor for its main camera. It’s an excellent sensor that has been used in many flagship phones before. Most of the time the V31 GT performs well and has great clarity. The HDR mode requires to be manually turned on, and it does improve the dynamic range significantly. Night photos will be a bit more noisy than daytime ones, but it’s in the good class of rugged phones.
The V31 GT also has a Night vision camera and thermal imaging camera, with this phone you can get a lot of information without any light. For example, to confirm the presence of any living creature nearby, or to check the status of the device. These are also things that the V31 GT is good at.
Conclusion
DOOGEE V31 GT is sort of a basic rugged phone, but it has its own features. For example, the dual stereo speakers and the IMX 766 main camera. The V31 GT is aimed at those who are looking for speaker sound quality and great camera performance. If you are one of these people, then it’s the perfect buddy for you on the go.

X, previously known as Twitter, is once again under scrutiny for not labeling ads on its platform. Users have spotted ads that don’t carry the typical “Ad” label, blurring the line between paid and organic content. This issue not only frustrates users but could also attract the attention of regulatory bodies like the FTC.
The company is going through a rough phase already, and this can further add to it
The silence from X has led to speculation about whether this is an intentional act or a technical glitch. Either way, the oversight raises questions about the platform’s commitment to transparency and could add to its ongoing challenges. Elon Musk, who now helms the platform, has already announced a 60% drop in ad revenue, blaming activist campaigns for the decline.
Transparency advocate Nandini Jammi, co-founder of the watchdog group Check My Ads, has been sharing examples of these unlabeled ads. Her group is encouraging users to report similar cases, emphasizing the need for accountability.
The lack of clear labeling could have a domino effect. It’s not just a user experience issue but could also dent advertiser trust. This comes at a time when the company has lost two key executives responsible for brand safety.
As X navigates these waters, the absence of a clear response on the unlabeled ads issue could be a telling sign of larger problems within the company. With dwindling ad revenue and a shaky executive team, this latest controversy could be a tipping point, forcing X to address its governance and operational issues more seriously.
In a move that signals a shift from the conventional norms of performance vehicles, Volkswagen has taken the covers off its latest concept car, the ID.X Performance. The unveiling took place in Munich and indicates VW’s commitment to blend performance with sustainability, something rarely seen in the high-octane world of sports cars.
The car was unveiled in Munich, Germany
The ID.X Performance isn’t just a run-of-the-mill electric vehicle (EV). It’s an aesthetic powerhouse, deviating dramatically from its base model, the ID.7 sedan. The car greets you with an aggressive black grille and matching vents, but it doesn’t stop there. A red trim wraps around the car, adding a sporty flair that’s also eco-friendly, thanks to its carbon fiber diffuser.
But the real magic is under the hood. The ID.X Performance is built on the MEB architecture that’s common in VW’s electric fleet. However, with twin electric motors, the car boasts an impressive 550 horsepower. Even with this extraordinary power, the vehicle doesn’t compromise on sustainability, maintaining a DC fast charging capacity of 200 kilowatts, just like its ID.7 counterpart.
While the concept itself hasn’t received the green light for production, it’s already creating ripples in the industry. With the ID.X Performance, Volkswagen isn’t just breaking the mold; it’s reshaping it. The traditional notion that ‘eco-friendly’ and ‘high performance’ can’t go hand in hand is being challenged, and that’s something to watch out for.
If you’re interested in this new breed of eco-conscious performance cars, you’ll find the ID.X Performance at the international ID. Treffen show in Locarno, Switzerland, until September 9. Whether this concept car will ever hit the roads is still up in the air, but it’s clear that Volkswagen is keen on pushing the envelope in the EV segment, especially when it comes to performance.
So, are we looking at the future of sports cars? Only time will tell, but the signs are promising.
While smartphones are rapidly advancing in terms of their capabilities, one essential feature that’s increasingly garnering attention is Apple’s Emergency SOS via satellite. Most recently, it aided the rescue of two stranded hikers in New Zealand’s Arthur’s Pass, as per a post by Canterbury West Air Rescue Service on Instagram. Although this marks the first use of the feature in New Zealand, it raises questions about the use of Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) in outdoor adventures.
Satellite SOS services may become a staple feature in future smartphones
The satellite-enabled SOS function on the iPhone 14 allows users to alert authorities when they are in regions without any cellular connectivity. In New Zealand’s case, the hikers were caught off guard by a rising stream, rendering them immobile on a riverbank. The satellite feature helped them contact rescue services, who swiftly intervened.
However, Canterbury West Air Rescue Service highlighted the enduring importance of PLBs, despite the evolving technology in smartphones. “It’s pretty new technology so Personal Locator Beacons are still recommended on your travels,” they said.
In contrast, Huawei has been incrementally improving its satellite capabilities as well. The recently launched Mate 60 Pro allows customers of China Telecom to make calls via satellite, upping the ante in the ongoing smartphone race.
The value of Apple’s SOS feature is undeniable, especially with its inclusion in the forthcoming iPhone 15 series. Still, the incident in New Zealand should serve as a wake-up call for adventurers. While smartphones can be lifesavers in emergency situations, they are not a replacement for specialized equipment like PLBs, which are solely designed for emergency rescues. Battery life, for example, remains a concern; during a rescue, the user’s iPhone battery status is one of the first things the rescue team verifies. The bottom line? Always carry a Personal Locator Beacon when venturing into the great outdoors, even if your latest smartphone promises the moon—or, in this case, a satellite connection.
