Google Pixel Watch also offers Pixel phone’s heat protection feature

Google had launched Pixel Watch, which was its first ever smartwatch model back in October 2022. It has received various updates that have improved its performance since its launch, but it was only recently found that the device also features a heat protection functionality that is quite similar to the one found in Pixel smartphones.

Google Pixel Watch can protect itself from overheating

As per official notes, the Pixel Watch was built to optimally function in ambient temperature range of around 0°C and 35°C and should be kept in ambient temperatures between -20°C and 45°C. Furthermore, the Search Engine giant also warns against exposing the smartwatch to temperatures that exceed 45°C as it “may damage the product, overheat the battery, or pose a risk of fire.”

However, it seems that if there are cases where the device is left in an area with high temperature, the Pixel Watch seems to have built in measures for added protection. This feature was found after a Pixel Watch owner left his smartwatch in his car and it turned off automatically when it got too hot. The Pixel Watch later notified the user that the “Watch was too warm” from system settings and explained that “It turned off to cool down and is now running normally.”

This feature is quite similar to the functionality offered in Pixel series of smartphones. For those unaware, the smartphones from Google will also “automatically try to cool down” by slowing down, or even take steps like turning off the camera, flashlight, WiFi, mobile data, and WiFi as well. But as a last ditch effort, it would even recommend a cool down by turning off the device and restarting it.

BYD’s strong sales performance in May is a sign of the growing popularity of electric vehicles in China. In total BYD sold a record 240,220 new electric vehicles in May 2023, up 97.63% from the same month last year. This includes 239,092 cars, up 109.4% from May 2022. Of these, 119,603 were pure electric vehicles, up 94.77% from May 2022. Meanwhile, 119,489 were plug-in hybrid vehicles, up 103.89% from May 2022.

Addition to its domestic sales, BYD is also expanding its international presence. The company exported 10,203 EV’s in May, up 175.7% year-on-year. BYD is targeting global sales of 1.5 million electric vehicles by 2025, and its strong sales performance in May is a good start towards achieving this goal.

MediaTek Dimensity 8300 SoC to feature a 1+3+4 architecture

The leak arrives from tipster Revengus who shared the latest information on Twitter. Looking at this online post, the Dimensity 8300 will feature a 1+3+4 architecture. In other words, it will have a single Cortex X3 core that clocks in at 2.8GHz, along with 3x Cortex A714 core that operates at 2.4Ghz, and 4x Cortex A510 cores that has a clock speed of 1.6GHz. Furthermore, this chipset will be paired with an ARM Mali G52 MC6 GPU that runs at 850MHz.

The upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 8300 is believed to launch sometime later this year and will likely be positioned right below the upcoming Dimensity 9300, which is a flagship grade chipset. This processor might debut around November 2023, so we can expect the Dimensity 8300 might also be announced around this time.

Back in December 2022, the Chinese smartphone maker iQOO had announced the Neo 7 SE model with the Dimensity 8200 SoC. The new leak arrives from an exclusive report by 91Mobiles. This handset is rumored to launch sometime later this month. Unfortunately, the exact launch date for this phone is still unclear, but we can expect it to arrive in the middle of June. Apart from this, the report also revealed a number of its key specifications as well as a design render. The device will reportedly sport a 6.6 inch HD+ display that has a 90Hz refresh rate.

It will launch with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. The rear will pack a 50 megapixel dual camera setup that supports 10x zoom, HDR, and more. However, the company now intends to make Bing Chat available on all platforms. The tech giant has revealed plans to expand its availability to third-party browsers, such as Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome, starting in June itself.

Chrome and Safari seem to be the first browsers to have access to Bing Chat

Screenshots shared on Bing’s Reddit page over the weekend showcased Bing Chat successfully running on Safari and Chrome. When questioned about the post on Twitter, Mikhail Parakhin, head of Microsoft’s advertising and web services division, confirmed the news and stated that the company is currently conducting experiments, gradually rolling out the feature. Parakhin did not disclose which specific third-party browsers will receive Bing Chat support.

By extending Bing Chat’s compatibility to other browsers, Microsoft aims to attract a larger user base. According to StatCounter’s latest data, Edge currently holds a 9.91% market share, ranking third among browsers. In contrast, Google Chrome dominates the market with a significant 66.02% share, while Apple Safari secures the second position with 12.79%.

To ensure optimal performance, Microsoft is likely to limit the number of Bing Chat users accessing the service via Chrome and Safari during the testing phase. This approach will allow the company to gather valuable insights and make informed decisions about expanding the feature to a wider audience. TSMC Preparing for 2nm Trial Production with Advanced AI System

Recent reports suggest that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is making significant strides in its efforts to sprint towards the next generation of process technology. TSMC has reportedly initiated preparatory work for 2nm trial production and plans to incorporate an advanced AI system to enhance energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and accelerate trial production efficiency. Industry insiders anticipate that major players such as Apple and Nvidia will be among the first customers after TSMC achieves 2nm mass production, solidifying their lead over competitors like Samsung and Intel.

Apple and Nvidia Expected to be Early Customers

TSMC has refrained from commenting on the rumors surrounding its activities. However, the company emphasized that the development of 2nm technology is progressing smoothly, with mass production expected to commence in 2025.

Sources reveal that TSMC has dispatched engineers to the Zhuke research and development (R&D) plant to commence preliminary preparations for 2nm trial production. The company plans to assemble a dedicated R&D team of over 1,000 experts to spearhead global mass production at Zhuke Baoshan Wafer Fab 20. This advanced production base, planned to span six phases, will serve as TSMC’s primary 2nm facility in the future.

Industry insiders indicate that TSMC intends to establish a small-scale trial production line at Zhuke for initial 2nm research and development purposes. The goal for this year is to conduct trial production of nearly 1,000 pieces, followed by a risk trial production sprint in 2024 and mass production in 2025. TSMC’s 2nm technology will leverage a new gate-around (GAA) transistor architecture, which is expected to significantly enhance system performance compared to 3nm technology. This improvement has garnered strong investment interest from potential customers, allowing for greater customization of solutions.

A lower value of nm for chipsets refers to the size of the transistor’s gate length in nanometers. Smaller transistors result in increased performance, higher efficiency, more transistors on a single chip, reduced heat generation, and potential cost reduction. These advancements allow for faster data processing, improved energy efficiency, increased functionality, better thermal management, and cost savings in chip production. However, the nm value is just one factor influencing a chipset’s overall performance, with other aspects like architecture and design also playing important roles.

TSMC previously unveiled its 2nm family process blueprint, with plans to commence mass production of the N2 variant in 2025. The backside rail design of N2 is tailored for high-speed computing (HPC) products, set to debut in the latter half of 2025. The N2P and N2X versions of the 2nm family are projected to launch in 2026. Furthermore, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has also publicly revealed that TSMC will integrate an AI system developed in collaboration with Nvidia and other partners into the 2nm trial production operations.

ZTE has quietly announced a new smartphone in China. The device officially goes by ZTE V70. Back in November, ZTE V70 Pro was also unveiled in a similar fashion.

The handset is identical to ZTE Yuanhang 30 Pro Plus, which has been now delisted. Just like the V70 Pro, the V70 is meant for businesses and government.

Thus, the company hasn’t revealed the price of the product publicly. However, the entire specs are out for the public.

ZTE V70 Specifications

The ZTE V70 sports a 6.67-inch centered punch-hole 10-bit OLED display. The panel offers a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and a 90Hz refresh rate.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset. It draws energy from a 5,100mAh battery with support for 66W charging.

The phone houses a triple camera system on the rear. The setup includes a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 5MP macro snapper. On the front, it has a 16MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

This makes sense since the search giant acquired Fitbit in 2020 for $2.1 billion. However, the company did not provide information on when users can expect this new login feature to roll out. That changes now as starting June 6, Fitbit users will be able to access their accounts using their Google credentials. Here are the details.

Google plans to phase out Fitbit accounts by 2025

Google logins will become an option starting on June 6, reports Droid Life. Users who log in with their Google credentials will be able to access all of their existing Fitbit data, including activity tracking, sleep data, and heart rate data. The Mountain View giant is reported to use Fitbit data to improve its own health and fitness products, such as Google Fit.

Logging into Fitbit with Google is optional for now but that won’t always be the case. The search giant plans to make it mandatory for users to migrate their accounts to Google by 2025. If users do not migrate, they will no longer be able to use their Fitbit devices or access their Fitbit data. Additionally, you will be required to use a Google login to sign up for a new Fitbit account and to activate new sports devices and smartwatches sometime this year.

Google is calling the new login requirement more convenient since users will only need to use one password for both their Fitbit and Google accounts. The company is reassuring users that their Fitbit data will not be used for advertising purposes, in compliance with EU regulations.

After many leaks and rumors, iQOO has now confirmed that the Neo 7 Pro smartphone will soon launch in India. The confirmation comes via a tweet from iQOO India’s CEO Nipun Marya, who shared the silhouette of the upcoming device in an image while also revealing that it will have an orange color option.

Initially, it was believed that the iQOO Neo 7 Pro would essentially be a rebadged version of the recently launched iQOO Neo 8 in China. However, upon closer inspection of the teaser image, doubts have arisen. The noticeable disparity lies in the camera bump design. The camera bump showcased in the teaser aligns with the iQOO Neo 7 series devices rather than the Neo 8, suggesting the possibility of a rebranded Neo 7 series device, potentially the iQOO Neo 7 Racing Edition.

The Neo 7 Racing Edition was unveiled exclusively in China back in December 2022. As the name suggests, the device is performance-focused, however, it also boasts a premium primary camera sensor used in the iQOO 9 Pro. Check the details below.

According to DCS, the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro will come equipped with the Dimensity 9300 chipset. Some reports have claimed that the X100 duo will be the first phone in the world to feature the said chipset. To recall, the X90 and X90 Pro debuted as the first Dimensity 9200 phones in November 2022.

He further revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will power the Vivo X100 Pro+. For those who don’t know, Qualcomm recently confirmed that its 2023 Tech Summit will be held between Oct. 24 and Oct. 26. It is speculated that the SD8G3 chip will be announced at the said event.

Reports have claimed that the Vivo X100 Pro+ will continue to feature a 1-inch Sony IMX989 primary camera, which was made available on the Vivo X90 Pro+. A fresh Weibo post released by DCS today has revealed a few additional details about what appears to be the Vivo X90 Pro handset.

The 12GB + 512GB variant of the handset was introduced at ¥3,299. A little over a month after its release, the brand permanently dropped the price of this version to ¥2,999.

Now, four months later, the smartphone can be had at an even cheaper price. Let’s check out this deal.

Poco F5 Pro for almost half the price

Chinese online retailer JD is offering a crazy discount on the Redmi K60 (12GB + 512GB). Customers can purchase the phone for as low as ¥2,249 (~$315).

The lowest price possible is only applicable to the black color version. Whereas, white, blue, and green color options are available at ¥2,409 (~$340).

Thus, customers in China can get the 12GB + 512GB variant of the Poco F5 Pro at a cheaper price than the starting price (~$365) of Poco F5. Globally, this version of F5 Pro retails at $549.

This deal makes the Poco F5 Pro approximately $235 cheaper in China for a limited time. In other words, the device is available at almost half the price compared to the global variant.

Today, Motorola successfully released the Razr 40 Ultra in China, marking the first sale of their flagship flip phone. The announcement of this device, along with the Razr 40 powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, was made in the domestic market last week. While the Razr 40 is planned to be available for purchase later in the month, the Razr 40 Ultra’s initial sale took place today. Motorola shared a poster through its Weibo account, disclosing that they managed to sell over 10,000 units of the Razr 40 Ultra in this first sale.

During the first sale, the Razr 40 Ultra was made available through multiple online retailer platforms, including Motorola’s online store, Jingdong Mall, Tmall, and Lenovo Lebei. In China, the Razr 40 Ultra is available in two options: 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage for Rs 5,699 (~$800) and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage for 6,399 Yuan (~900). Buyers can choose from color vairants, such as Infinity Black, Glacier Blue, and Viva Magenta.

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra specifications

The Razr 40 Ultra encompasses a 6.9-inch pOLED foldable screen, supporting Full HD+ resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The device also incorporates a 3.6-inch pOLED cover display on the back, featuring a resolution of 1056 x 1066 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. Both displays are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, and the device comes with IP68-rated dust and water resistance.

When it comes to capturing memories, the Razr 40 Ultra offers a dual-camera system featuring a 12-megapixel main camera with OIS support and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, which doubles up as a macro camera. For selfie enthusiasts, the device features a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Chinese tech giant had first launched its latest premium grade tablets back in April. The initial release was in its home market of China, with the tablet soon being announced for the European market as well last month. Now, the brand officially revealed that it will be unveiling the Xiaomi Pad 6 model in India on 13th June 2023. It shared the launch teaser on Twitter and even shared a teaser image.

The Pad 6 model from the company sports an 11 inch LCD panel that has a 2880 x 1800 pixel resolution. This display also offers an impressive 144Hz refresh rate, 10 bit color depth, HDR10, P3 color gamut, and Dolby Vision as well. The screen is certified by TUV Rheinland for low blue light level for a more comfortable viewing experience. The tablet weighs 490 grams but measures an ultra slim 6.51mm in thickness.

Earlier this month, Motorola took the wraps off its latest foldable smartphone in the Chinese market, dubbed Motorola Razr 40 Ultra.

Today, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra foldable smartphone is available for purchase in China with a starting price of 5,699 yuan which roughly converts to $802.

The base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage costs 5,699 yuan (~$802), while the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model is priced at 6,399 yuan (~$900). The smartphone is available in three colors — Viva Magenta, Glacier Blue, and Infinite Black.

Coming to the specifications, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra features a 6.79-inch pOLED display that offers a Full HD+ screen resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, 1,400 nits peak brightness, and support for HDR10+. It also has a large secondary screen on the back panel which measures 3.6-inch and features a pOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB onboard storage. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which is embedded in the power button and the phone has IP52 splash-resistance rating.

In the camera department, the smartphone features a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 12MP OIS-enabled main sensor paired with a 13MP ultra-wide and macro lens. On the front side, the phone has a 32MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.
