BGMI Comeback Officially Teased, Krafton’s Job Listing Indicates Positive Developments

[Update]
Battlegrounds Mobile India recently took to Instagram to share an intriguing post, hinting at the imminent return of BGMI to India. The post’s message, “It’s time to switch on notifications,” suggests that the company may soon make an announcement regarding the game’s comeback.

BGMI

The original story continues…

Back in July 2022, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) got removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Initially, the specific reasons for the game’s removal were not revealed. However, it was later revealed through RTI (Right to Information) that BGMI was officially banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in response to requests from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Ever since then, multiple reports have surfaced online claiming that the popular battle royale game will be making a comeback. According to reports, Krafton has been collaborating with the government to seek the lifting of the ban. Encouragingly, recent developments suggest that the South Korean company might be making progress, as Krafton has recently advertised a job opening for an India Mobile Quality Assurance analyst.

New job listing for BGMI

GemWire recently discovered a new job listing that provides details about the role and qualifications for a potential candidate. The listing, posted by Krafton, specifies that the chosen candidate will be responsible for conducting functional testing on various projects published by Krafton. Additionally, the applicant will be required to address privacy concerns and promptly respond to related issues.

Importantly, the location specified for the selected candidate is Seoul, South Korea. It is intriguing to note that the role of Lead Quality Assurance Analyst does not outline any explicit experience prerequisites. Although the job listing does not explicitly mention the lifting of the BGMI ban, the purpose of the hire is presumed to be for the quality assurance of the game in question. Since the ban, BGMI has experienced a lack of new updates and events, and players who still have access to the game have reported suboptimal server conditions. It is reasonable to anticipate that these issues will be resolved once the game is eventually unbanned.

Recently, a report surfaced indicating that there is a possibility of BGMI being unbanned for a limited period in the near future. According to the report, the Indian government is considering lifting the ban on BGMI for a three-month period to closely assess the application and the gaming experience it offers.

During this evaluation period, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs will scrutinize and re-evaluate the app to ensure compliance with the privacy and security regulations set by the Indian government, prioritizing the well-being of its citizens. If Krafton fails to adhere to these rules, BGMI could potentially face another ban.

The report also mentioned that BGMI will introduce an in-game timer to restrict players from exceeding the designated playtime. The game’s color scheme will reportedly be changed to support yellow and green blood, similar to the version currently available in China (Peacekeeper Elite). Initially, players were given the option to change the blood color to green or blue during the game’s launch as a replacement for PUBG Mobile India. However, it seems that a new default color will be implemented instead of red.

While there is currently no confirmed date for the unbanning, it is anticipated that more information will emerge in the following days. Therefore, it is advised to stay updated on the topic.

Twitter Blue Subscribers can now Post 2-Hour Long Videos, up to 8GB

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has made yet another splash in the Twitter world. Taking charge of Twitter, Musk wasted no time in introducing a new subscription service called Twitter Blue, offering a host of exclusive benefits to its users. In his latest tweet, Musk unveiled an exciting feature available exclusively to Twitter Blue subscribers: the ability to upload videos up to a staggering 8GB in size and 2 hours in length.

The feature is currently limited to Twitter web and the iOS app

Currently, this feature is limited to the Twitter app for iOS and twitter.com on the web. However, Android users need not fret, as they can still enjoy the privilege of uploading videos up to 10 minutes long. This development opens up new possibilities for content creators and users who wish to share longer videos and engage with their followers in more immersive ways.

For Twitter Blue subscribers looking to share a lengthier video, the process is straightforward. They can navigate to the compose box on twitter.com, choose a video file from their device, and simply click the “Tweet” button to upload and share it with the world. Importantly, there is no restriction on the number of videos that can be uploaded, even if they are of the maximum length.

In contrast, regular Twitter users will find themselves limited to uploading videos of up to 140 seconds in duration, whether they are using the mobile app or accessing Twitter via the web.

This move by Elon Musk and Twitter signifies a commitment to enhancing the user experience and providing added value to their loyal subscribers. With the ability to upload longer videos, content creators can now showcase their creativity and ideas in a more comprehensive manner, fostering deeper connections and conversations within the Twitter community. This might be the last major move Elon Musk gets to make as he steps down from his position as CEO.

This could also potentially lead to a number of challenges and drawbacks. Firstly, the increased file size and length may put a strain on Twitter’s servers and infrastructure, resulting in slower load times and potential disruptions to the platform’s overall performance. Moreover, the availability of such long videos could lead to an influx of low-quality or irrelevant content, overwhelming users’ feeds and diminishing the overall user experience. Additionally, the potential for copyright infringement and the spread of inappropriate or harmful content may increase with the ability to upload longer videos. Ensuring proper moderation and content control will be crucial to prevent misuse of this feature and to maintain a safe and engaging environment for all Twitter users.

In celebration of GAAD, let’s explore some of Google’s recent innovations and features designed to empower individuals with disabilities and foster a more inclusive digital environment.

Google’s Updates include Maps, Lookout, Live Caption & Wear OS

Digital images often lack descriptive captions and alt text, rendering them inaccessible to individuals with visual impairments. Google’s AI-driven solution, Lookout, offers a new feature called “image question and answer.” By leveraging an advanced visual language model developed by Google DeepMind, Lookout can now process images and provide descriptions, enabling users to gain a more detailed understanding of their content. This innovative feature has the potential to enhance accessibility and empower individuals with blindness or low vision.

Google Maps has been a valuable tool for navigation, and now it incorporates accessibility information for wheelchair users. The Accessible Places feature displays a wheelchair icon to indicate locations with step-free entrances. Additionally, users can find further accessibility details in the “About” tab, such as wheelchair-accessible seating, parking, or restrooms. With contributions from the Maps community, business owners, and Local Guides, accessibility information is available for over 40 million businesses worldwide, fostering confident and inclusive travel experiences.

Live Caption, an AI-powered feature, now offers real-time captions for various Android devices and platforms like Chrome and Google Meet. Updates to Live Caption include an optimized captions box for Android tablets, the ability to type back responses during calls, and expanded language support. The availability of Live Caption on a wider range of devices allows more people to benefit from this inclusive feature, fostering communication and engagement for individuals with hearing impairments.

Google is dedicated to improving accessibility across its platforms. Wear OS 4, launching later this year, will introduce a faster and more reliable text-to-speech experience. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Administration of Energy (NEA), the leading authorities in economic planning, have issued a collective appeal for the accelerated deployment of charging infrastructure in remote areas.

The NDRC has emphasized the importance of financial incentives offered by local governments to facilitate the establishment of EV charging stations. They have urged for an extended reach of these facilities, ensuring coverage in additional counties, villages, and rural highways. Furthermore, the commission has called upon electric car manufacturers to broaden their product portfolios, aiming to better cater to the unique demands of rural markets

Xin Guobin, the vice minister at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, revealed that the government is actively examining policies to stimulate auto consumption and support the modernization of China’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market. This comes as the NEV market faces challenges arising from weak domestic demand.

The limited purchasing power among rural residents stands as a significant obstacle to the widespread adoption of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in rural areas, said Zhang Xiang, a visiting professor at Huanghe Science and Technology University’s engineering department. To address this challenge, Zhang suggests that cash incentives provided by local governments and car manufacturers, along with the introduction of affordable car models, will play a pivotal role in driving NEV adoption in rural regions.

The government’s focus on promoting auto consumption, supporting NEV market modernization, and expediting the establishment of advanced manufacturing clusters reflects their commitment to bolstering the innovation-driven growth of China’s industries and securing the robustness of the nation’s industrial supply chains.

Xiaomi & DJI Make a Bold Bet on Chip Design with Acquisition of Oppo’s Zheku Team

Oppo is facing financial difficulties. Initially, there were claims that the company would withdraw from France and Europe. Now, it seems the company is preparing to sell its processor manufacturing business. Reports from Chinese media suggest that both Xiaomi and DJI, among others, are interested in acquiring this pool of talent. Here are the details…

Xiaomi & DJI looking to grab talents from OPPO’s Disbanded chip team

After Oppo confirmed that it would be disbanding its Zheku chip design business, the fate of its 3,000 employees has become a hot topic of discussion within the industry. Some media reports have indicated that both Xiaomi and DJI are interested in acquiring these talented individuals, with DJI reportedly taking the most proactive approach. In fact, DJI has even created a WeChat group to prioritize consideration of these displaced professionals.

This move reflects DJI’s ongoing ambition to overcome key challenges in chip design. After all, proficient IC design professionals are hard to come by, and Zheku’s team was once lured away from Qualcomm, Huawei Hisilicon, and Unigroup Spreadtrum & RDA among other firms by Oppo with high salaries, attesting to their caliber.

However, it is important to note that Zheku’s chip development team under Oppo focused mainly on ISP chips for smartphone cameras and some communication chips. Industry insiders speculate that DJI, with its current business areas including drones, robotics, Lidar, and autonomous driving, would likely prioritize camera ISP due to its core business still revolving around drones.
