We’ve been only 10 days in May and Samsung has already released security patches for a sizeable number of its devices. Recently, the company rolled out the update for Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A23, and Galaxy A52. Now, it’s the older Galaxy S20 FE’s turn to receive the May 2023 security patch. The update is currently being seeded to the 4G Snapdragon version of the handset. Separately, the Galaxy A73 is also picking up the latest security update.
Galaxy A73 & Galaxy S20 FE get security boost with latest update
As reported by Sammobile, the May 2023 security patch is rolling out to the Galaxy A73 with firmware version A736BXXS3CWE1. Currently, the update is only being seeded to the units in Brazil but we can expect it to expand to more regions shortly. The outlet says the update comes packed in 227.29MB download, hinting it doesn’t bring any new features except some minor bug fixes.
Similarly, the Galaxy S20 FE is receiving the latest May security patch with firmware version G780GXXU4EWD2. The update is currently available in Russia and is expected to roll out to more countries within the next few weeks. To remind you, this handset was unveiled back in 2020, and according to Samsung’s update policy at the time, it will not receive any major updates but will continue to receive security patches for two more years.
Users of the above-mentioned devices should be getting an OTA notification for the update. If not, they can install the update manually by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. Security patches usually don’t affect your data but it’s always a good idea to keep a backup.

OLED technology has been present in our lives for a while now. This advanced technology, which is far superior to traditional panel types, works wonders in terms of efficiency and image quality. However, due to its high cost, it was only found in premium products for a long time. But as technology has advanced, costs have come down, and OLED technology is finally on its way to becoming mainstream. It seems that one of the first companies to lead this transformation is Apple.
The tech giant has long been known to want to use OLED displays in its Mac and iPad models. According to recent information, the company is ready to implement this change starting next year, but panel suppliers are holding back key investment in next-gen OLED production lines due to rising concerns. Here are the details…
Falling Mac Sales Have Apple’s OLED Panel Suppliers Spooked
Apple plans to launch its first OLED iPads in 2024. Since the company doesn’t manufacture panels, it needs to source the necessary components from third-party manufacturers, just like it does with iPhones. Apple has not yet chosen a partner, but South Korean companies Samsung Display and LG Display are eager to become the main suppliers.
At present, these two companies have large production capacities and operate Gen 6 OLED production lines. However, they plan to set up more efficient Gen 8 production lines that produce a higher number of OLED panels per substrate. Recent information has revealed that the Korean manufacturers are hesitant. Allegedly, Samsung and LG have not yet ordered the necessary equipment to construct the Gen 8 lines, which require at least a year to complete. This situation indicates that the manufacturers’ reluctance to invest stems from concerns over profitability.
The main cause for concern is the decline in Apple’s sales. Despite the success of the M series processors, Apple disclosed a significant year-over-year decrease in Mac revenue, dropping from $10.4 billion to $7.2 billion. If this decline continues, investing in large production capacities could have negative consequences for LG Display and Samsung Display.
Additionally, it is unclear whether Apple will be willing to pay for the OLED panels, especially since there is no precedent for their inclusion in MacBooks. Another concern arises from Apple’s stance on the deal. OLED screens would increase the cost of the already expensive MacBooks. This could lead to Apple pressuring suppliers to lower their prices, which might result in the investments not paying off. Hopefully, these issues will be resolved soon, and OLED-equipped MacBook models will be available to consumers as soon as possible.

Realme held an event in China today, during which it unveiled its latest smartphones, the Realme 11 series, as well as the Realme Buds Air 5 Pro. The latest TWS from the brand is the successor of the existing Realme Buds Air 3. The newly announced audio accessory offers a pretty impressive set of specifications at a very reasonable price. Let’s have a complete overview of the product.
The Realme Buds Air 5 Pro offer 11 mm dynamic audio drivers and 6 mm secondary drivers. These buds have Hi-Res small gold label certification. They also carry support for LDAC codec and spatial sound effects, which ensures an immersive audio experience. They also offer support for active noise cancellation of up to 50dbs.
The Realme Buds Air 5 Pro support 4000Hz ultra-wideband noise reduction and is equipped with six built-in microphones that enable AI deep call noise reduction features. In terms of battery life, the main case has a 460mAh battery, while each earbud is equipped with a 60mAh battery. The brand claims that the device can provide up to 40 hours of usage time on a full charge.
In terms of form factor, the device appears similar to its predecessor. The earbuds retain their stem-like design and feature a cylindrical main counterpart with a microphone cutout and silicone ear tips. Additionally, the charging case maintains its previous pebble-shaped design, along with the LED indicator. However, the design of the actual buds has undergone some minor changes.
The TWS earbuds also feature a dedicated gaming mode, which lowers latency to 40ms, resulting in a better overall gaming experience. The earbuds also have an IPX5 water resistance rating, which means they can withstand splashes of water and sweat. Additionally, they support the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology, and users can further customize the audio preferences and features of the earbuds using the “Realme Link” app.
The Realme Buds Air 5 Pro are priced at CNY 399, which roughly converts to $57. The earbuds will be officially available for sale in the country from May 31 and pre-orders begin on May 23.
The next smartphone from Xiaomi is expected to be Civi 3. This handset is tipped to launch by the end of May. Further, the company is also anticipated to release Mix 5, Redmi K60 Ultra, and Mix Fold 3 in the coming months.
Amidst this, a mysterious Xiaomi phone gets certified by 3C. The listing only reveals the model number and hints at the charging speed.
This upcoming Xiaomi smartphone bears model number 23054RA19C. This is the first time we are hearing about this device.
The 3C regulatory authority says that the handset will ship with a 67W charger bearing model numbers either MDY-14-EV or MDY15-EQ. Thus, it may have support for 67W wired charging or less.
Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have on this unknown product. It is definitely not the forthcoming Civi 3 and Redmi K60 Ultra since these phones sport model numbers 23046PNC9C and 23078PND5C, respectively.
So could it be Mix 5? We don’t think so as the Mix 4 itself had 120W charging support. Why would the successor be limited to 67W charging?
Whatever it is, we are looking forward to learning more about this product in the coming days. Because it has been also listed on MIIT, and so, it should pop up on other certification websites, and benchmarking platforms revealing more details about it.
What are your thoughts on this mysterious Xiaomi smartphone? Will it be released under Xiaomi or Redmi brand? Most importantly, will it make its way to global markets? Do let us know in the comment section below.
