Garmin Forerunner 965 Smartwatch Surfaces in Multiple Colors Ahead of its Launch

The yet-to-be-released Garmin Forerunner 965 smartwatch could be one of the best premium offerings by the brand. It sports a big AMOLED screen but it is also speculated that its name is yet to be official. The smartwatch was listed by a Vietnamese retailer briefly, possibly inadvertently. Garmin continues to gross sales in its array of smartwatches and is rivaling industry leaders Apple and Samsung.

Garmin Forerunner 965

The alleged naming of the smartwatch follows the Garmin Forerunner 955 released in 2022. The new smartwatch sports a bigger AMOLED screen than its predecessor. It has a higher display resolution of 416 x 416 pixels than the Forerunner 955. As per the leaked specs, the Forerunner 965 will also have a 1.4-inch display like its predecessor. The new Garmin smartwatch will have a lower battery capacity than the Forerunner 955.

Garmin Forerunner 965

While the earlier model had a 15-day battery life on smartwatch mode, the new model extends that to 23 days. However, with GPS activated, the Forerunner 965 has a shorter battery life of 31 hours compared to the Forerunner 955’s 42 hours.

The optics of the Garmin Forerunner 965 includes an array of sensors for health and fitness monitoring. Its pricing information is lacking at this time but it could square off nicely with the Galaxy Watch and Apple Watch.

Garmin Forerunner 965

The Forerunner 965 smartwatch is being propped as one of the best smartwatches of 2023. It sports a durable titanium frame for enhanced ruggedness and could also include a flashy yellow color variant.

China Bans Tech Companies from Offering ChatGPT Services

The Chinese government has banned all tech companies in the country from offering ChatGPT or related services through their platforms. The state media has explicitly said that the US-based ChatGPT is spreading misinformation that could be detrimental to Chinese sovereignty.

On February 20, the state-owned media China Daily posted on Weibo that the chatbot could provide a helping hand to the U.S. government in its spread of disinformation and its manipulation of global narratives for its own geopolitical interests.

The government has specifically instructed tech giants like Tencent and Alibaba group to stop offering ChatGPT services on their platforms either directly or via a third party. Also, the government has announced that any company that wishes to launch a chatbot or related Artificial Intelligence service should first report to regulators and get their permission. Without permission, nobody will be allowed to launch ChatGPT-style services in China.

ChatGPT the fastest-growing app in human history has become a sensation in China. Though the app is not officially available in the country, many users have accessed ChatGPT using the VPN (Virtual Private Network). Some third-party developers have also released mini-programs that claim to offer partial services from ChatGPT. These programs have been extensively floated on WeChat (China’s equivalent to WhatsApp owned by Tencent).

After the announcement of the new regulations, Tencent banned all the parties who provide ChatGPT and related services in China. The company which has already seen the wrath of the Chinese regulators in its gaming sector does not want to take any more chances against the government. Hence, it has blanket banned all ChatGPT programs and other services that have even a slight resemblance to the ChatBot or its AI system.

Why China will never accept ChatGPT?

It is not a surprise that the Chinese government is coming hard on tech companies. The government which is famous for its internet censorship and control will never allow an Artificial Intelligence program like ChatGPT gain access in the country. ChatGPT made by the US company Open-AI is a continuously learning and evolving AI and cannot be easily controlled by an entity.

ChatGPT recently created a list of controversial people which included famous personalities like Elon Musk, Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. It also gave a negative rating to the communist party.

If allowed in China, it is inevitable that people would ask politically sensitive questions to ChatGPT. The responses to such questions may not be acceptable to the government. However, the service provider or platform will be held responsible for the issue. Hence many tech companies are already staying away from ChatGPT and related services.

ChatGPT Rivals in China

Though ChatGPT will be never allowed in China, the government is keenly watching tech giants like Alibaba and Baidu, who have promised to launch their own versions of Chatbots similar to ChatGPT. The Chinese internet technology company NetEase Inc and the e-commerce platform JD.com have also announced their plans to create ChatGPT rivals.

Last week, Fudan University in Shanghai launched the ChatGPT rival app called MOSS for public testing. Baidu is all set to complete the internal testing of its version of the ChatGPT app called ‘Ernie Bot’ by March. JD.com (Jindong) is also working on its own version of the chatbot called ChatJD.  Chinese tech companies have assured the government, that their apps will have nothing to do with ChatGPT and their services may not necessarily be a Chatbot but rather some embedded features of the AI that can be controlled as per regulations.

Meet Microsoft’s New AI Model – Prometheus

In addition to announcing a revision of the chat limits implemented on Bing’s ChatGPT today, Microsoft also shared some behind the scenes on how the company’s latest Search Engine, new Bing, works. The technology behind the new Bing is powered by the company’s new AI model, officially called Prometheus.

In the company’s branded blog post today, Microsoft shared the company had developed a proprietary technology they named Prometheus, which is a first-of-its-kind AI model that combines the company’s comprehensive Bing index, ranking, and answers results with the creative reasoning capabilities of OpenAI’s most-advanced GPT models.

Going into the specifics, Prometheus uses Bing and GPT to generate a set of internal queries iteratively through a component called Bing Orchestrator, and then provides an accurate and rich answer for the user query within the given conversation context, all within a matter of milliseconds.

Selecting the relevant internal queries and leveraging the respective Bing search results is a critical component of Prometheus, since it provides relevant and fresh information to the model, enabling it to answer recent questions and reducing inaccuracies. Put in another way, the model uses its reasoning skill over the data provided by Bing and hence it’s grounded by Bing data, via the Bing Orchestrator. Microsoft has shared the diagram below to illustrate how Prometheus works at a high level.

Source: Microsoft

The final step is when Prometheus attaches relevant Bing search answers such as weather, stock, sports, news, and so on, to the Chat answer. With the search results in mind, Prometheus is able to integrate citations into sentences in the Chat answer so that users can easily click to access those sources and verify the information.

Jordi Ribas, Corporate Vice President of Search & AI at Microsoft, has also expressed in the blog post that besides Prometheus, his team faced challenges in creating an ideal Bing search product. In the end, the team developed a new Bing UX that has a unified Search and Chat in a single interface, because some queries would perform better in the classical or Search mode, while others would do better in a conversational or Chat mode.

Geely Takes Important Steps for Methanol-Powered Vehicles!

The automotive industry continues to evolve and change. This sector, which once relied solely on fossil fuels, is now being replaced by electric vehicles and alternative fuel solutions such as hydrogen. Geely, one of the largest automobile manufacturers in China, is one of the leading companies in these studies. Recently, Geely launched the world’s first 100,000-ton low-carbon green methanol plant. Here are the details…

Geely’s Low-Carbon Methanol Plant Starts Operations

Geely and Henan Shuncheng Group launched the world’s first 100,000-ton low-carbon green methanol plant in Anyang City, Henan. This plant is a breakthrough in the field of renewable energy and is a significant contribution to China’s ambitious carbon neutrality goals. Methanol is a low-carbon, oxygenated, renewable fuel with high combustion efficiency, and is considered an alternative to traditional gasoline and diesel fuels. It is liquid at room temperature.

Geely methanol plant
Geely methanol plant

That makes storage, transportation, and usage safer and more convenient than other forms of clean energy. Green methanol, or renewable methanol, is methanol manufactured using low carbon emissions from sustainable or renewable resources at scale. China is the world’s largest producer and consumer of methanol, and Geely believes that if one-third of the country’s vehicles use green methanol fuel. It could reduce 80 million tons of oil imports and recover 132 million tons of carbon dioxide. This is an enormous step towards China’s carbon neutrality goal.

The Anyang City plant utilizes hydrogen and carbon dioxide to synthesize 110,000 tons of methanol annually. This is equivalent to the environmental impact of planting 160,000 mu (106 square kilometers) of forest area. The plant uses an emissions-to-liquids (ETL) technology from Carbon Recycling International (CRI) in Iceland. The ETL process converts carbon dioxide into methanol, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint.

In addition, the plant implements a carbon dioxide capture and purification process, which can recover carbon dioxide from industrial gas exhaust. The Geely-Backed Low-Carbon Methanol Plant is a milestone in renewable energy development. It not only reduces carbon emissions and mitigates climate change but also provides a new direction for the automotive industry.

OnePlus 11 Concept Surfaces In Leaked Image Revealing Design

OnePlus is set to announce the OnePlus 11 Concept at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona which starts from February 27th. Yesterday, the brand teased the upcoming offering. Now the OnePlus 11 Concept has surfaced in a leaked image giving us a better look at the device.

The OnePlus 11 Concept is already teased to come with icy blue pipelines that are expected to be LED light stripes. This seems to be similar to the Nothing Phone (1)’s Glyph interface. The teaser has already confirmed that the OnePlus 11 Concept will have a carbon fiber exterior for increased durability without increasing the weight.

In the latest development, the leaked image shows the LED light stripes surrounding the circular camera island and running through the smartphone’s back panel. The pattern sort of looks similar to a fingerprint impression. The OnePlus logo is located at the bottom right side of the device. The Concept’s camera module also appears to be slightly different and protruding compared to the regular OnePlus 11.

OnePlus hasn’t exactly revealed what the Concept phone will come with. As is the case with concept products, it may never see the light of day. The OnePlus 11 Concept will follow the OnePlus Concept One that the brand showcased at CES three years ago in 2020. The latter was developed in partnership with automaker Mclaren. It sported a leather textured back panel with Orange accents and a vertically running Black strip in the middle. At the top of the back panel, the middle Black strip housed disappearing vertically stacked three camera lenses.

We will have to wait and see whether the OnePlus 11 Concept will pack any groundbreaking or innovative features.

Nubia Z50 Ultra Spotted With Ultra-narrow Border, Under-display Camera

Nubia is reportedly gearing up to launch the Nubia Z50 Ultra, the top variant in its Z50 lineup. Recently, a photo of the Nubia Z50 Ultra is captured by a netizen in the subway (published by Digital Chat Station) which reveals that the smartphone has an ultra-narrow border screen with an under-display camera, making it look stunning in appearance.

Nubia Z50 Ultra leak

According to a previous report, the Z50 Ultra’s under-display camera uses a pixel circuit to drive an OLED pixel unit technical solution. This solution optimizes the pixel space arrangement and film stacking design of the camera area without reducing the pixel density and pixel driver circuit in the camera area. As a result, the front camera of the mobile phone has improved the transmittance of visible light, increased the amount of light input of the camera under the screen, and achieved a high-resolution and undifferentiated true full-screen display while improving the photographic effect.

This innovative under-display camera technology is expected to be a game-changer for the smartphone industry as it eliminates the need for a notch or hole-punch in the display to house the front-facing camera. This, in turn, provides a larger and more immersive display experience, giving users a true full-screen experience without any interruptions.

Nubia has not officially released any details about the smartphone’s specifications or features, but recently, an unknown Nubia smartphone with the model number NX712J was listed on TENAA, which is believed to be the Z50 Ultra.

According to Digital Chat Station, the Z50 Ultra will feature ZTE‘s fourth-generation under-display front-facing camera technology from BOE, a 2K resolution curved display powered by a second-gen display chip, a periscope zoom camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

OnePlus 7T T-Mobile Version Finally Gets Android 12 Update

Almost all Android flagship handsets have already received the Android 13 update, and work on the Android 14 operating system has begun. The OnePlus 7T T-Mobile variant, on the other hand, was an exception. Forget about Android 13, it still hasn’t received the Android 12 update on time. But at last, the OnePlus 7T has begun catching up with its long-overdue Android 12 upgrade. This is arguably the best illustration of “Better late than never”.

T-Mobile OnePlus 7T owners have been waiting for an Android 12 update since the OxygenOS 12 was introduced for unlocked variants in October. Now, finally, the time has come. The release’s changelog indicates that the update’s build number is HD1907 11 F.03. It has a size of about 4GB. The build contains all the usual visual enhancements to the OxygenOS user interface, the two-month-old December 2022 security upgrades, and all the frills that come with the Android 12 operating system.

OnePlus 7T

The fact that T-Mobile deleted the OnePlus 7 and 7T models from its software update summary page caused some hesitancy when it came to deploying Android 12 to those handsets. Although the OxygenOS 12 version for the 7T is a significant improvement, the 7 Pro doesn’t appear to be eligible for the same treatment as the magenta people. The OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren may still receive the Android 12 update in the near future, but there is currently no official timetable, according to a “Community Manager” on the T-Mobile forums.

Also, the OxygenOS 12 upgrade adds a number of additional privacy features. You may check which apps are using your microphone, camera, or location as one of these features. Now, users can easily spot and remove apps that are accessing private data without their consent. The update also includes a new privacy dashboard that offers consumers a thorough breakdown of the information that applications are gathering and how they are utilising it. So that was all we had to cover up regarding the OnePlus 7T Android 12 update. Thanks a lot for reading the post till the end.

ChatGPT continues to take the internet by storm. Artificial intelligence, which is open to everyone’s access, is replacing people as a workforce in many different sectors. It seems that one of the fields in question is writing. According to the latest reports, books written by ChatGPT are flooding Amazon as people turn to AI for quick publishing. Here are the details…

ChatGPT-written books are flooding Amazon as people turn to AI for quick publishing

The ChatGPT has revolutionized the way people think about writing, making it possible for anyone with basic writing skills to publish a book in a matter of hours. This has led to a wave of books being published on Amazon. Many of which have been written entirely by the AI. One of the first people to take advantage of this technology was Brett Schickler, a salesman from Rochester, New York.

ChatGPT

Schickler had always dreamed of writing a book but had never been able to find the time or inspiration. However, after discovering ChatGPT, he was able to create a 30-page illustrated children’s e-book called “The Wise Little Squirrel: A Tale of Saving and Investing” in just a few hours. The book is about a squirrel who becomes wealthy by saving and investing his money.

Schickler’s success with ChatGPT has inspired others to follow in his footsteps. As of mid-February, there were over 200 e-books in Amazon’s Kindle store listing ChatGPT as an author or co-author. Some of these books include “How to Write and Create Content Using ChatGPT,” “The Power of Homework,” and “Echoes of the Universe,” a poetry collection. In addition, there is a new subgenre on Amazon: books about using ChatGPT, written entirely by ChatGPT.

However, there are concerns about authenticity because ChatGPT learns how to write by scanning millions of pages of existing text. An experiment by CNET resulted in multiple corrections and apparent plagiarism before the tech news site suspended its use. There are also concerns that the flood of AI-written books could threaten “real” authors.

AI

Mary Rasenberger, executive director of writers’ group the Authors Guild, said that “a lot of authors are going to be out of work” if AI-written books flood the market. Ghostwriting has a long tradition, but the ability to automate through AI could turn book writing from a craft into a commodity.

Some authors who use ChatGPT feel no duty to disclose in the Kindle store that their book was written by a computer. Amazon’s policies do not require it, and the company has not commented on whether it plans to change or review its policies around authors’ use of AI or other automated writing tools. However, it is expected that some measures will be taken in this regard in the future.

Motorola Razr 2023 Leaked Renders Show Largest Outer Screen on Flip Phone Yet

Motorola is set to release an upgraded version of its popular Razr phone, and leaked information about the upcoming model suggests that it will feature a larger cover display than its predecessor. According to TechOutlook, the new device, codenamed “Juno,” is rumored to have a cover display estimated to be 3.6-inch or larger, compared to the 2.7-inch display on the current model.

Popular leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has also shared some high-quality renders of Razr 2023. In addition to the larger cover display, the new Razr 2023 will also feature a redesigned rear panel. The panel is divided into two distinct sections, with a matte velvet AG glass featuring the Motorola and Razr logos at the bottom, and a glossy glass, possibly Gorilla Glass 5, at the top. The top portion of the panel will house the device’s cameras, which have been moved from a raised camera island to the top left corner of the panel.

While the display of the new Razr is similar to that of the previous model, with slim bezels and fewer creases, the phone’s renders do not show a selfie camera. However, it is possible that the device will still have a 32MP selfie camera, like its predecessor.

Last week, Oppo launched the Find N2 Flip with the biggest outer screen seen so far on a flip-style foldable phone. Samsung has also announced that it will release the Galaxy Z Flip5 later this year. However, Motorola’s latest design seems to set a new benchmark in the market.

While it took slab-style phones a long time to become practically all-screen, flip-style foldables seem to be moving much faster in this direction. The upcoming Razr 2023 is expected to have a sleek design, with the large outer screen being a key feature that sets it apart from its competitors.

With the competition in the flip phone space heating up, it will be interesting to see how Oppo and Samsung respond to Motorola’s latest offering. The release of the Razr 2023 is eagerly anticipated by fans of the iconic brand, and the leaked renders suggest that it will not disappoint.
