ChatGPT’s Popularity May Lead to Another GPU Shortage

ChatGPT is taking the internet by storm. The artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI is currently the most advanced chatbot in the world. While many people are enjoying this marvel of technology for free, its unexpected side effects are already starting to appear. According to the latest reports, ChatGPT might bring about another GPU shortage. Here are the details…

ChatGPT might bring about another GPU shortage – sooner than you might expect

OpenA reportedly uses 10,000 Nvidia GPUs to train the ChatGPT to produce interesting and quirky responses. With tech giants like Microsoft and Google eager to integrate AI into their own services, it is estimated that Google alone would need 4,102,568 Nvidia A100 GPUs, which could cost the company a whopping $100 billion.

This high demand for GPUs to train AI models could lead to a shortage of graphics cards. Th last one caused by high demand from crypto-mining. The GPU shortage will probably only affect Nvidia card sales since they have the most advanced AI cores on the market. However, other companies like AMD and Intel see the high demand and potential profit. They may push harder to match Nvidia in the AI arena.

If Nvidia shifts more attention toward the AI, it could leave an opening for AMD to fill up the gaming market. A shortage of Nvidia GPUs could push gamers towards AMD. Still, if Nvidia does commit to producing more GPUs for AI training purposes, expect graphics card prices to rise again.

This could lead to frustration for gamers, and could also impact other industries that rely on GPUs, such as research and development, animation, and video editing. Therefore, if you have a graphics card that you are considering buying, if you expect the prices to drop even more, you may want to hurry up.

RoadRunner Pro Electric Scooter With Dual 2,000W Motors, Disc Brakes Unveiled

VoroMotors have unveiled a new version of the RoadRunner electric scooter. The RoadRunner Pro is the culmination of some serious improvements on the initial model. The RoadRunner Pro can reach a speed of 51mph (82km/h).

RoadRunner Pro Electric Scooter

The RoadRunner was a seated e-scooter that has a top speed of 34mph (~55km/h) but looked almost like a toy. The RoadRunner Pro is an enhanced version of the RoadRunner. Its looks, like its predecessor, belie its capacity. It is a significantly upgraded version of the Emove RoadRunner but retains some features. It still has an all-wheel drive but with dual 2,000W motors. The two motors help to generate the power that yields the top speed of 51mph. The 14-inch wheels, however, seem not to be large enough for a rider to move at such high speed.

RoadRunner Pro Electric Scooter

The RoadRunner Pro has a pair of dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes and offers solid control when you want to stop. It also has a dual suspension system, with a hydraulic suspension fork at the front and dual coilover shocks at the rear. The rear suspension system is a key upgrade over the Emove RoadRunner.

The RoadRunner Pro comes with a bigger battery than its predecessor. It has a 60V/ 30Ah that offers 1,800Wh of power. The battery uses the 21700-format battery cells and gives the RoadRunner Pro a range of about 80km. The battery capacity of the e-scooter is among the highest in the class of light electric scooters. An updated twist throttle and a new full-color TFT VoroMotors display are also present in the new e-scooter. The rider can view the battery status, speed, temperature, ride mode, and other ride parameters on the 3.5-inch TFT display.

EMOVE RoadRunner Pro Electric Scooter

The 14-inch tubeless pneumatic tires of the RoadRunner Pro are more effective than the traditional bicycle or scooter wheels. This means that the RoadRunner Pro e-scooter requires less maintenance and provides an overall improved user experience. The e-scooter has a more comfortable and larger saddle, wrapped in wear-resistant and heat-resistant material. The scooter weighs 52 kg which is not the lightest but still good.

EMOVE RoadRunner Pro Electric Scooter

The RoadRunner Pro is now on sale and retails for $2,895. VoroMotors say the affordable price of the RoadRunner Pro was due to the company’s ability to self-develop the scooter. The model is expected to catch the attention of the market quickly due to its impressive parameters and decent price.

Tesla EVs May use ChatGPT in Future says Analyst

Experts say that Tesla may collaborate with OpenAI in the future to integrate ChatGPT into its EV fleet. Tesla founder and CEO, Elon Musk is also the founder and backer of the American AI startup OpenAI which created the bot ChatGPT.

In 2015 Elon Musk along with other famous entrepreneurs and investors like Sam Altman, Redi Hoffman, and Peter Thiel founded the startup OpenAI in San Francisco. The founders collectively pledged $1 billion to OpenAI with the intention of creating and developing advanced Artificial Intelligence that would be useful to mankind.

chatgpt

In 2018, Musk resigned from the board of OpenAI due to disagreements between the founders over the development of the company. However, Musk still remains a donor and backer of the startup and has strong relations and influence within the company.

Tech analysts are predicting a very strong chance of Tesla including ChatGPT in its system of EVs.  Edward Sanchez, senior automotive analyst at TechInsights said that it is not inconceivable that Tesla and OpenAI would have some form of collaboration at some point in the foreseeable future as Musk has close ties with OpenAI’s executive team, which will make it easier to strike a potential deal.

He further added that Tesla is way ahead of the industry in over-the-air updates so if they feel there is enough consumer demand for a ChatGPT service in its cars, similar to Apple’s Siri, it may want to push the service in its next update.

How will Tesla integrate ChatGPT in its EVs?

ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is the most famous and fastest-growing app in human history. It is an advanced Chatbot developed by the American AI company OpenAI. It is designed to mimic a human speaker and is currently using both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. Since its launch in November 2022, the application has been a game changer for the AI and technology industries.

Chat GPT uses a particular technique called Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), which uses human feedback in the training loop to minimize harmful, untruthful, and biased outputs. To successfully carry out human-level conversations and tasks, the app needs to process high volumes of data in seconds. This means it needs a very powerful computer that can process tons of data in seconds. If Tesla wants to integrate ChatGPT in an EV, then it will need a supercomputer that can process, analyze and compute millions of data and provide accurate feedback in seconds to the driver.

For any other automotive company, ChatGPT integration may be difficult unless they can find a supercomputer or alternative solutions for data processing. But Tesla already has the resources and technical know-how to successfully integrate ChatGPT into its EVs.

In 2021, Tesla unveiled its custom-made supercomputer Dojo. Dojo is an AI neural network training supercomputer, specially designed for AI machine learning and video training using the Tesla EV data. The ultimate goal for Dojo is to reach fully autonomous driving capabilities. With the Dojo supercomputer, it is possible that Tesla may collaborate with OpenAI and integrate ChatGPT-related services into its future EVs.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Outperforms Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in Performance

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series was recently unveiled at the Unpacked event. Undoubtedly, the most striking model among them was the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The phone, which stands out with its performance and capabilities, has also earned the right to be the flagship of Android. So, could the S23 Ultra, perhaps the best Android phone in existence, rival the iPhone 14 Pro? Here are the details…

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Takes Lead over Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The Galaxy S23 Ultra uses a custom overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC developed in partnership with Qualcomm and Samsung. Additionally, due to the size of the phone, it has more assertive cooling solutions. However, despite being newer and having these features, the S23 Ultra is not able to beat the iPhone 14 Pro. According to CompareDial’s Geekbench test (assuming Geekbench 5), the iPhone 14 Pro outperformed the Galaxy S23 Ultra by 21.02%.

iPhone 14 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

In the single-core performance test, the iPhone 14 Pro received a score of 1,874, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra received only a score of 1,480. The iPhone 14 Pro outperformed the Galaxy S23 Ultra by 21.02%. However, when it came to multi-core tests, the gap narrowed to 14.86%. The iPhone 14 Pro maintained its lead with a score of 5,384, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra received a score of 4,584. Interestingly, in terms of single-core performance, the older iPhone 14 with the A15 Bionic and a 5-core GPU outperforms the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Apple’s success with A-series processors was not a secret anyway. Similar results were obtained in a test conducted last year, and the iPhone 13, which came with the A15, had better scores than the Galaxy S22. In fact, according to the single-core score, the iPhone 13 performs better than the S23 series. However, these tests do not mean that one device is necessarily worse than the other.

Real life use cases are much more important than synthetic testing. Not many of us even manage to push the limits of a mid-range phone. While this shows us how far mobile technologies have come, it reminds us that these tests do not reflect real life. At the end of the day, whether you choose the iPhone 14 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, both phones are great options.

Sony PS VR 2 Teardown Shows How the Headset and Its Controllers Work

Sony has just released a new video in which it tears down the upcoming PlayStation VR 2 system. The VR headset and its Sense controllers can be seen being taken apart revealing their internal layout and functions. So let’s have a look.

Sony

In the official teardown video, we can see that the Japanese tech giant’s Sense controllers are equipped with IR LEDs. The orb shaped controller houses a ring of 14 IR LEDs and three that are placed in the other areas for better tracking. According to Takeshi Igarashi, DualSense controller designer, “These infrared lights are used by the VR headset’s tracking camera to detect the controller’s position and orientation”.

Sony

He further explained in the video that “The LEDs have been placed in optimal locations to ensure they are accurately detected no matter what direction the controller is facing,” and that the cover on the controllers are also made of material that ” transmits the infrared light emitted internally to track the movement of the controller.” The video also shows the five capacitive touch sensors on the controller.

Breaking down the headset itself, we get a glimpse of the inside of the headset. This also reveals what it looks like when you turn the adjustment dial. Sony also added that one should not try teardown by yourself. The company stated that taking apart the headset or controllers will invalidate the warranty. The PS VR2 is set to launch on 22nd February 2023.

The feat of modifying the iPhone 12 Mini with the addition of the USB-C port was done by a YouTuber who goes by the name Hyphaistos3672.

iPhone 12 Mini

The iPhone 12 Mini was first disassembled, with the speaker removed. This created space for an additional USB-C port which was then linked to the existing hardware. The speaker was then modified to fit into the new architecture. After reassembling the device, the components seemed to have fitted snugly. Both the internal and external finishing was surprisingly good.

Both the Lightning port and USB-C ports were demonstrated to be fully functional on the device. So it seems realistic to simultaneously charge the device while listening to audio via a wired connection. Since the removal of the audio jack from iPhones, it was not possible to simultaneously listen to audio and charge the iPhone.

It has to be stated though that the addition of a USB port is not new with iPhone modifications. There had also been speculations that Apple was considering ditching the Lightning port for USB-C connectivity. Indeed, there had been some regulatory pressure on the Cupertino-based company but it hasn’t changed to USB-C yet.

Google Fiber Launches Its 5Gbps Service for a Monthly Fee of $125

Google Fiber has just launched its new 5Gbps internet plan option. The company had been testing this high speed internet service last year, and is finally rolling out the $100+ service in the US. So let’s have a look.

The new internet plan is available as of right now in Kansas City, West Des Moines, and in Utah. This service offers a symmetrical upload and download speeds, an upgraded 10 Gig Fiber Jack that will be professionally installed, a Wi-Fi 6 router, and up to two mesh network extenders as well. While 5Gbps is definitely really fast, most common households wouldn’t require such high speeds. So this is clearly being offered to people working as creative professionals, gamers, or any one who would need to transfer large files often and have minimal latency.

Google

A great example of just how impressive the new Google Fiber internet plan is, the Microsoft Flight Simulator download takes around 11 minutes at 2Gbps. However, this would fall to just around three minutes at 6Gbps. The Search engine giant is focusing its efforts on Fiber and is working on expanding its network. Through this, we can see Fiber soon be disruptive in the internet providing service market.

The 5Gbps service has a month fee of 125 US Dollars. And it doesn’t just end there as Google has also added that it is working on an 8Gbps option as well for Fiber. This was announced last year, although it is still under the “coming soon” banner. It is likely that this plan would also offer symmetrical upload and download speeds as well.
