The phone with a retail price of $199 will be available at a heavily discounted price of $99 only under the global launch sale.

Before the launch of BV5200, Blackview offered costly and advanced camera specs and algorithms only to its mid-to-high-end lineup. However, to create an edge in the budget phone market, Blackview partnered with ArcSoft® and offered advanced photography and videography functions for the first time in the BV5200 budget smartphone. ArcSoft® is an industry-leading algorithm and software solution provider that has offered its services to the global top 20 mobile giants such as Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc.

However, with the BV5200 Pro, the brand has gone one step further and given a 15% improvement in its camera configuration as compared to its predecessor. Blackview BV5200 Pro features a 6.1-inch HD+ display and comes with 4GB RAM expandable up to 7GB and 64GB ROM expandable up to 1TB. Unlike its predecessor which used a quad-core processor, the BV5200 Pro uses an advanced MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor and runs the latest DOKE OS 3.0 based on Android 12. Unlike the bulky and heavy rugged phones available in the market, the BV5200 Pro weighs just 268g and comes with a 13.65mm sleek and slim body

Foxconn Announces When Stock Shortages for iPhone 14 Pro Models Will End

Foxconn is a crucial supplier for Apple and plays a vital role in the production of iPhones. The company’s factories in China are responsible for manufacturing half of all iPhones sold worldwide. Foxconn and Apple have been working together for many years. However, the production challenges brought on by the Covid-19 restrictions have put this partnership at risk. Thankfully, Foxconn expects to resume full production in late December or early January.

Foxconn to fix its manufacturing issues by January

Foxconn has announced that production disruptions caused by Covid-19 restrictions will be resolved by January. This is expected to alleviate stock shortages that have been seen in many parts of the world, particularly for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. The company has assured its business partners that it is working to restore production levels to their pre-pandemic state.

Foxconn has reported that its smart consumer electronics business, which includes smartphones, saw a decline in November revenue compared to the previous year due to disruptions at its Zhengzhou factory. The company did not provide further details on the impact of these disruptions.

The Zhengzhou plant has been struggling with strict COVID-19 restrictions, which have led to dissatisfaction among workers regarding conditions at the factory. This has disrupted production of the Apple device ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays. Unfortunately, these developments are also affecting the relationship between Apple and Foxconn. The company wants to move production to countries such as India and Vietnam due to the problems it has faced. Foxconn and the Chinese government are expected to try to convince the American technology giant to prevent this from happening.

Foxconn said on Monday its overall revenue in the fourth quarter was expected to be “roughly in line with market consensus”, without elaborating. It did not offer a fresh outlook for its various business sectors. The company said last month that revenue in the final three months of this year would be flattish, and that it has a relatively conservative outlook for 2023. read more. Foxconn shares closed flat, in line with the broader market which ended up 0.1%.

Google Messages Gets End-To-End Encryption For Group Chats As SMS Turns 30

This week marks the 30-year anniversary of the Short Messaging Service, or SMS. To celebrate, Google said that beginning in the upcoming weeks, its Messages app would offer end-to-end encryption for group chats. For a few years now, this capability has been accessible for one-on-one conversations. End-to-end encryption for group chats is only accessible to Messages users who have registered for the beta programme, therefore you must do so in order to try it.

Google also announced that the Messages app will soon enable users to react to RCS (Rich Communication Services) messages with any emoji, in addition to announcing end-to-end encryption for group chats. WhatsApp recently implemented a feature of the same kind. To the uninformed, RCS is simply an enhanced SMS. SMS messaging misses many of the features that smartphones have to offer, but RCS gives you the ability to text over Wi-Fi, send and receive high-quality images and videos, see typing indicators and read receipts in real-time, add or remove friends from group chats, and much more.

No matter where you live, who made your phone, or what operating system it runs, RCS is designed to work on any phone. As a result, you can enjoy the same texting experience on any phone. With the exception of Apple, all of the major mobile carriers and manufacturers have adopted RCS as the standard, according to Google, which also used the anniversary of SMS as an opportunity to criticise Apple for not embracing RCS. Apple continues to rely on SMS and refuses to use RCS, leaving messaging stuck in the 1990s when individuals with iPhones message people with Android phones.

Google has begun a variety of initiatives to highlight the benefits of RCS and has been promoting its use for months. The Cupertino giant has been under pressure to switch to RCS, but the company is resolute about keeping with iMessage. The course of this development will be intriguing to watch.

Honor Offering Personal Engraving Service for Honor Magic Vs in China

A couple of weeks back, Honor unveiled its second foldable smartphone called Honor Magic Vs. The device will be heading to global markets in Q1 2023. However, it is on sale in China since last week.

According to a blogger, the brand offers personal engraving service for its latest foldable. Interestingly, the company did not mention it while announcing the phone a few days back.

Honor Magic Vs

When you think about personal engraving on consumer electronic products, Apple is the only brand that comes to mind. Because it is the only company that has been offering this service consistently for years.

Honor introduced engraving service last year for the Honor EarBuds 2 SE in China. Now, the company is offering this service for Honor Magic Vs as well.

But unfortunately, there are certain limitations. Firstly, customers can opt for personal engraving only on the black color version of the regular model and the ‘Ultimate’ model, which comes with support for stylus input.

Further, only a few characters are supported. To be precise, Honor only allows select 7 Chinese characters, 15 English letters, and basic punctuation marks.

This means no support for emojis, which are quite popular among Apple customers. Most importantly, engraved Honor Magic Vs are not eligible for the standard 7-day no-reason return policy.

Finally, as far as the placement is concerned, customers can only engrave on the hinge of the foldable.

We are not sure if Honor will bring personal engraving to global markets. The brand will most probably not offer this service as it is not debuting the ‘Ultimate’ variant outside mainland China.

MIUI 14 Update Confirmed for Xiaomi Mi 10 Series

Xiaomi was supposed to unveil MIUI 14 alongside the Xiaomi 13 series last week. The launch conference still remains postponed with no new date.

However, details about these unreleased products continue to emerge on the internet. A few days back, one of the company executives confirmed MIUI 14 support for certain old smartphones.

Xiaomi Mi 10
Xiaomi Mi 10 (Review)

Zhang Guoquan is the director of Xiaomi‘s System Software Department. On November 28, while replying to a Weibo comment, the exec confirmed the availability of the MIUI 14 update for the Mi 10 series.

Unfortunately, he did not clarify the exact models. But did mention that the update will arrive later.

For the unaware, the Mi 10 series originally includes five phones, namely Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10 Lite, Mi 10 Lite Zoom, and Mi 10 Ultra. Going by the subsequent comments, the exec is most likely talking about the Mi 10 and the Mi 10 Pro but the others might also receive the update.

All of these handsets were released in 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The Mi 10 Ultra debuted with MIUI 12, while the remaining models shipped with MIUI 11.

Over the last two years, these devices were updated to Android 11 and Android 12. They also received multiple MIUI updates, such as MIUI 12.5, MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition, and MIUI 13.

Therefore, MIUI 14 will be the third major software update for these smartphones, except for Mi 10 Ultra. Unfortunately, we don’t think they will get an upgrade to Android 13 as they don’t fall under the latest update policy introduced for the newer models.

Nothing Phone (2) Not Coming Soon, Company Aims to Rival Apple in US

Carl Pei’s startup Nothing launched its first smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1) in July this year. Smartphone brands are known for launching new models every six months in major markets. In a recent tweet, Pei revealed that the “Nothing Phone (2) isn’t launching anytime soon.” He also shared some more information about the company’s plans in an interview with CNBC.

Carl-Pei
Carl Pei

Pei revealed that the company is planning to expand its business in the US. He is said to be in early discussions with American carriers about launching a new phone in the country in the future. He said, “The reason why we didn’t launch in the U.S. is because you need a lot of additional technical support, to support all the carriers and their unique customizations that they need to make on top of Android. “We felt that we weren’t ready before.” He further said, “Now we are in discussions with some carriers in the U.S. to potentially launch a future product there,”

Nothing generated $20 million in revenue in 2021. This year, the company aims to achieve a tenfold jump of $250 million. However, the company is still not making a profit. Pei said, “The goal is to be profitable in 2024. We are not profitable right now. And this year was made even harder due to the foreign currency exchange. We pay a lot of our COGS [cost of goods sold] in USD but we make money in pounds, in euros, in Indian rupees — so everything devalued against the USD.”

In the US, Nothing hopes to rival Apple. However, it will not be an easy task considering that Apple has a very strong hold in the US market.

Pei posted the above tweet after the interview with the publication was released. The company wants to focus more on the Phone (1) by putting out future updates, such as the Android 13 OS update. For those who are unaware, the company has released a closed beta version of Android 13 for the Phone (1). The open beta is expected to arrive later this month.

As far as sales are concerned, Nothing has achieved 500,000 shipments of the Phone (1). It has sold 600,000 Ear (1) and Ear (stick) units worldwide.

Smaller Tesla Cybertruck May Have Revealed! Will It Be Cheaper?

It’s been almost three years since Elon Musk announced the Tesla Cybertruck, but car enthusiasts still did not give up hope on this vehicle. According to a recent statement by Tesla, the number of people who pre-order Cybertruck has reached 1.5 million. It looks like the company is quite happy with this interest and may be working on a follow-up model.

Tesla’s smaller, two-door Cybertruck design was hiding in plain sight

Tesla’s exhibit at the Petersen Museum is extensive, as it highlights the company’s history and the products and innovations that have helped it become a dominating force in the EV sector over the years. And, of course, the Tesla Cybertruck was heavily featured and very popular in the exhibit. A detail at the event excited Tesla enthusiasts.

smaller Tesla cybertruck painting

According to some electric vehicle enthusiasts, Tesla has shared a pretty interesting version of its futuristic all-electric pickup truck in its exhibit. Visitors to the exhibition discovered an interesting painting at the Cybertruck corner. In the image hanging on the wall, there was a smaller version of the futuristic vehicle. Unlike Tesla’s known model, the vehicle in the sketch was a two-door Cybertruck.

The vehicle in the painting looks more compact than the original Cybertruck. Its cabin still looks spacious and airy thanks to its long windshield and short hood. First of all, let’s clarify something, no, Tesla will not completely change the design of the vehicle and make it smaller before launch. However, painting could be a spoiler for future models.

Following the unveiling of the original Cybertruck prototype in late 2019, Musk was asked on Twitter if Tesla would be open to making a more compact version of the Cybertruck down the road. Musk responded positively to the inquiry, noting that, “Long term, it probably makes sense to build a smaller Cybertruck too.” So, based on this, it is possible to say that the smaller Cybertruck will appear in the upcoming years. Unfortunately, it is unclear at the moment whether it will be cheaper than standard model or not.

Apple is still working over iPhone 15 series design changes: Report

While the Apple iPhone 14 series was launched just a couple of months ago, there have already been a number of leaks regarding its successor, the iPhone 15 lineup. These rumors have claimed that the upcoming iPhones will feature new design changes, however, a new report hints that this might not be the case.

Over the last couple of years, the iPhone models like the iPhone 14 series feature a flat rear panel with rounded edged but sharp corners. But, recent rumors had claimed that the new iPhone 15 will have a design that is more similar to the rounded edges of the older iPhone 5c. This would apparently offer a more comfortable experience when holding the device. Now, known tipster LeaksApplePro told Forbes that the Cupertino based giant is still unsure about bringing design changes with the iPhone 15.

Apple

Apparently, the curved edge design of the iPhone 15 is still not set in stone. Meaning, that the brand has still not finalized its final look. Interestingly enough, Apple had not locked in on the iPhone 14’s design till late March 2022. In other words, the company still has a couple of months for this decision. Another major detail regarding the upcoming 2023 iPhones is the use of titanium for its build on the side frames.

If this is true, then the iPhone 15 series will feature some of the most premium materials used on any iPhone. Although we can expect this to be exclusively featured on the more expensive Pro series models like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Other new design changes include solid state buttons that will replace the physical buttons while also offering a USB Type C port instead of the proprietary Lightning port for the first time ever on an iPhone.

Upcoming Oppo A78 5G Approved by IMDA, Here’s What Known So Far

In June 2022, Oppo unveiled the Oppo A77 5G in China. It appears that the device has remained exclusive to the Chinese market. A rebranded version of the phone with the Oppo K10 5G moniker was made available in India. It appears that the company is now working on the OPPO A78 5G smartphone. Unlike the A77 5G, the A78 5G is expected to release in some Asian markets.

An Oppo smartphone with model number CPH2483 was discovered in the IMEI database and Bluetooth SIG certification in October of this year. Last month, it was approved by the FCC authority. In a new development, the CPH2483 has been approved by the IMDA certification body of Singapore.

The IMDA certification (via. NashvilleChatterClass) reveals that the CPH2483 will be called the OPPO A78 5G when it arrives on the market. The listing reveals that the device will be equipped with connectivity features like 5G, LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS.

The FCC listing of the device revealed that it has 163.8 x 75.04mm dimensions and measures 180.09mm diagonally. Since the measurement of the device is similar to A77 5G, it appears that the device could come with a 6.56-inch panel.

The Oppo A78 5G will support n5 / n7 / n38 / n44 / n66 5G bands and dual-band (2.4GHz – 5GHz) Wi-Fi. It will run on ColorOS 13 and pack a 5,000mAh battery, which may offer 33W rapid charging. The Bluetooth SIG certification of the device revealed that it will support Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Apart from these details, nothing else is known about the device A78 5G.

With multiple certifications under its belt, it seems that the Oppo A78 5G will be announced this month in some Asian markets. Hopefully, newer reports will reveal more information about the device.

BMW Starts Production of Hydrogen-Powered Vehicle iX5 Hydrogen

The BMW iX5 was introduced last year. The company announced that the vehicle is a concept car, but will also be produced in limited numbers. After an extensive final development phase, the company has announced that it has started producing hydrogen-based fuel cells at its headquarters in Munich. Chairman Oliver Zipse and Development Board Member Frank Weber attended the celebration event organized by the company.

BMW iX5 Hydrogen enters small series production

The experimental BMW iX5 Hydrogen is powered by a pair of electric motors (one at each axle) with a combined output of 369bhp. The company’s fifth-generation eDrive motors also feature on the i7 and iX electric cars. However, instead of pulling stored electrical energy from a battery pack like a conventional electric car, the iX5 generates its electricity through a chemical reaction between stored hydrogen and oxygen from the air via a fuel cell capable of generating up to 125kW.

bmw ix5 hydrogen engine

Moreover, the same system is used to heat the cabin when needed. The fuel cell, developed in partnership with Toyota, is supplied by two 700-bar storage tanks occupying the space used by the gearbox and driveshaft in the combustion-engined X5. Together, the tanks can hold six kilograms of hydrogen.

After the vehicles that started production are ready, they will visit selected regions next spring to publicise the zero-emissions powertrain solution. So what are the advantages of hydrogen-powered vehicles over traditional EVs? The fuel-cell tech extreme used in the BMW iX5 does not lose performance in cold and hot temperatures and offers a much longer range.

Other potential advantages of hydrogen-electric vehicles is ack of a heavy lithium-ion battery pack and the stiffer suspension required to support it. This makes the vehicle much lighter and eliminates the risk of fire. BMW’s board member for production, said, if the current infrastructure issues are remedied, it could introduce hydrogen fuel cell technology on other vehicles in its line-up, such as the iX3, iX and i4.

However, the company will produce the iX5 in limited numbers and evaluate the potential before making a definitive decision for its future.

Redmi Note Series Global Sales Exceed 300 Million Units

The Redmi Note series has achieved yet another milestone. Xiaomi says that it has sold over 300 million units of Redmi Note smartphones globally.

Just yesterday, the company revealed that the sales of the Redmi Note series crossed over 72 million units in India alone.

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 12 series in international markets. The Indian division of the company has started promotions for the imminent release of these phones in the country.

Hence, the company has been running contests and sharing stats on previous Redmi Note models.

In October 2021, the global sales figure of the Redmi Note series stood at 240 million units. A little over a year later, this figure has now risen by 60 million units.

The increase in sales of the Redmi Note series is likely attributed to a number of models released by the company. Either way, the sales have declined in 2022 as the firm sold over 40 million units in a short duration of 5 months last year.

Xiaomi currently sells two different Redmi Note lineups, one for China and another for global markets. The firm also sells exclusive models in certain regions.

Thus, it’s hard to predict the number of models that will be launched under a single generation of Redmi Note these days.

As per rumors, the Redmi Note 12 series for international markets may include at least four models, such as Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G.

These devices are expected to be different from the Redmi Note 12 models that went official in China at the end of October.

What are your expectations of the upcoming Redmi Note 12 lineup? Also, how many Redmi Notes have you owned? Do let us know in the comment section below.

Moto G13 Launch Imminent, Bags Multiple Certifications

An upcoming Motorola phone with model number XT2331 has been approved by India’s BIS authority and Thailand’s NBTC certification platform.
