Following Apple and Huawei’s lead, Samsung is also reportedly planning to add a satellite communication feature to the upcoming Galaxy S23 series. The Korean firm is said to be partnering with Iridium, a global satellite communications company, to transmit data such as text messages and low-capacity images via satellite.
South Korean publication Etnews claims Samsung is preparing to introduce satellite communication feature to upcoming Galaxy S23 smartphones with an aim to transmit data such as text messages and low-capacity images at hundreds of kbps.
The publication says, “Over the past two years, Samsung has worked hard to overcome satellite communication’s technological challenges.” It will reportedly be teaming up with Iridium, which is a well-established satellite communications company based in the US. Iridium provides voice and data communication services in outer space using 66 low-Earth orbit communication satellites.
To enable voice and high-speed data communication via satellite, a large antenna (RF) is required, but it is probably the last thing anyone would want to see in a modern-day smartphone. So, the biggest challenge involved with Sat-com is to make an antenna that doesn’t strike out. Etnews says Samsung is done with this part.
In addition, the technology to integrate mobile and satellite communication modems to process digital data is also reported to be largely completed. Samsung is yet to confirm any details about this new feature.
As mentioned, Huawei and Apple have already introduced the satellite communication feature with their latest flagships. iPhone 14 users in the US and Canada can use this new feature to communicate with emergency services when cellular reception is not available. The Cupertino company says in ideal conditions with a direct view of the sky and the horizon, a message sent via Sat-com might take 15 seconds to send, and over a minute to send under trees with light or medium foliage.

Oppo Watch SE specs & features
The OPPO Watch SE has a 1.75-inch AMOLED display with a rectangular dial and a resolution of 372 × 430 pixels. It also supports the always-on display function. The wearable includes a unique Apollo 4s co-processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of music storage in addition to the Snapdragon 4100+ SoC.

The eSIM capability and NFC support are the two most prominent features of the OPPO Watch SE. According to Oppo, the smartwatch’s 400mAh battery may last up to 10 days in light smart mode and 3 days in full smart mode on a single charge. It can be charged quickly with VOOC 2.0, which can provide the watch with a day’s worth of power in just ten minutes.
The effects of the tension in the Foxconn factory still continue. A riot broke out yesterday at the company’s factory in China. Over 100 Foxconn workers were seen pushing past outnumbered guards. Several videos were posted on social media, with one showing workers pushing past barricades as witnesses chanted “fight, fight” in the background. Several workers were injured at the plant responsible for producing 50% of iPhones sold worldwide. Lastly, Foxconn offers workers $1,400 to stop protesting and leave the factory.
Foxconn offers workers $1,400 to stop protesting and leave iPhone factory
After the events escalated, Foxconn took action to end the protests. The company has offered workers a $1,400 (10,000 yuan) settlement in an attempt to end protests at the facility. According to the information received, this is a money equivalent to approximately two months’ salary of these workers.
Foxconn offered 8,000 yuan ($1,120) to workers who agreed to quit their positions at the factory, and another 2,000 yuan (around $280) after they boarded buses to depart the facility. The offer was made by the human resources department of the company by sending a text message. However, the problem that caused the workers’ revolt in the first place was the already delayed bonus payments. So, it is unknown whether the employees accepted the offer or not. Still, the Apple supplier has apologized, claiming that the miscommunication on share was the result of a ‘technical error’.
Foxconn factory was forced to lock down in October following a covid outbreak because of China’s strict “zero-covid” policy. Since than the company prevented assembly line workers from leaving the factory surroundings and forced workers to consume their meals inside dorm rooms instead of eating in the dining room. In fact, some employees, tired of the restrictions, secretly escaped from the factory and resigned.
Vivo recently launched the flagship X90 series, which comprises the top-of-the-line Vivo X90 Pro+, X90 Pro, and the standard X90. The X90 Pro+ is the star of the show, as it debuted as the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-equipped handset and features some serious camera tech. Now, it seems the company has two new smartphones, likely mid-rangers, in the works. The mysterious handsets have bagged 3C certification, hinting they might debut soon. Here are the details.
Two unknown Vivo smartphones with model numbers V2245A and V2244A have bagged China’s compulsory 3C certification (via ITHome). Both of these handsets are listed to support 80W fast charging. The 3C listing did not reveal any other details about these models, but it tells us they are in the line of launch soon.
The official names of these handsets are not known yet. However, we can expect them to debut as mid-range handsets. More details about these unknown Vivo devices should emerge soon. We’ll keep you posted.
As mentioned earlier, Vivo recently launched its flagship X90 series. The most premium device in the series— Vivo X90 Pro+ — comes with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and promises an impressive performance.
The highlight of the phone is its camera setup. It features a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.75 aperture. There’s also a 48MP Sony IMX598 ultra-wide lens, a 50MP Sony IMX758 portrait unit with OIS support, and a 64MP periscope zoom lens with a 90mm focal length and 10x optical zoom.
It packs a 4,700mAh battery with 80W and 50W wired and wireless charging respectively, which is strange because the Pro model supports 120W wired charging. The X90 Pro+ comes with a starting price of 6,999 yuan (~$980).
As part of the UK regulatory authority CMA’s examination into Microsoft’s proposed $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, a fresh confidential document from Sony PlayStation was made public today. According to the paper, PlayStation may lose its rights to the Call of Duty series by 2027, and at the same time, it aims to introduce the next generation of PlayStation consoles.
The dates have been hidden, but Sony plans to introduce its next-generation gaming consoles after 2027. The loss of COD must be a significant source of frustration for Sony. It is unknown whether Sony has accepted Microsoft’s 10-year offer, which is in addition to the existing agreement they have with Activision. If a new console is released by 2028, the PS5 will have a life cycle that is comparable to the other PlayStation consoles, which is close to 8 years.
Because COD has traditionally given the PlayStation platform exclusive benefits like early access, in-game items, and more, this is bad news for the gaming company. Call of Duty is a tremendously important asset for either platform given that the brand is still selling phenomenally well today and doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
In 2023, there is a significant probability that we will see a console refresh because both Xbox and PlayStation may release updated models of their respective next-generation consoles. Microsoft may be developing an Xbox Series alongside a PS5 Pro or Slim. Sony is worried that losing Call of Duty 2027 will make their new consoles less desirable, which will cause customers to switch to Xbox, the more environmentally friendly brand.
A massive mobile game called Candy Crush will now be under the hands of Xbox thanks to the Activision Blizzard King merger. Both Candy Crush and Call of Duty serve as the cornerstones of this merger, but Call of Duty is the only factor that has given rise to the confrontation between Sony and Xbox. The arguments for and against the perceived worth of the Call of Duty franchise are still being made by both sides, with Xbox even seeking to portray COD as a mostly inconsistent franchise that succeeds to varying degrees.
The end of the year is usually marked by cold weather with sub-zero temperatures in some regions. China, for instance, is reportedly going to experience the strongest cold wave from November 26 since the winter season. The weather will affect more than 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and cities. There will also be rain, snow, and strong winds in addition to the drop in temperature. In preparation for the winter, Xiaomi has launched a smart temperature-controlled heating scarf on the Youpin platform.
The new product was first announced by Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun via his Weibo page, thus underscoring the high importance placed on the product. The smart heating scarf is capable of keeping the user warm and to do this, it utilizes a built-in DuPont thermal insulation filling material. It equally adopts high-purity carbon nanotube film heating technology as well as a temperature sensor. The scarf can heat up in 3 seconds and you can set the heating to three temperature levels – 38°C, 45°C, and 50°C. The super-large heating sheet can not only protect against cold but also heat the neck.
In other aspects, the scarf supports over-current, over-temperature, short-circuit, open-circuit, and other protections. Also, the system will automatically power off in case of abnormality. It can also be washed in a washing machine.
The Smart Heating scarf is super-affordable as it is priced at 149 yuan ($21). It is presently available to buyers in China via the Youpin website. It is worth mentioning that when you place an order for the smart temperature-controlled heating scarf, you also get a free 5000mAh power bank.
After rolling out the stable One UI 5 to its latest foldables earlier this month, Samsung is now seeding the software to the 2020’s Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The Android 13-based update is currently rolling out in Europe, with a wider rollout projected in the coming days.
According to SamMobile, the One UI 5 stable update for the Galaxy Z Flip is currently rolling out in regions of Europe, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Poland. Currently, Android 13 is only available for the 5G model; however, Samsung will likely roll out the update to the LTE model pretty soon.
The update is reported to bring all the new features Google introduced with Android 13 as well as some Samsung-exclusive stuff like stackable widget support, Bixby Text Call, new multitasking gestures, and more. It should also bump the Android security patch level to November 2022.
If you are a Galaxy Z Flip 5G user residing in the countries mentioned above, keep an eye out for the OTA notification. As usual, Samsung should release the update in a phased manner, and it might take several days before it is available to everyone. Users can download the update by going to Settings, selecting Software Update, and tapping “Download and install.”
To recall, Galaxy Z Flip 5G launched back in 2020, just months after the LTE variant. The foldable has already received two major updates, and the latest One UI 5 update is probably its last major update. The smartphone will continue receiving regular security updates for the next two years.
Reports from multiple sources indicate that Netflix could soon release an AAA PC game. The streaming giant is having a fast-expanding collection of mobile games on Android and seems to be stepping up its efforts. A recent Netflix job listing required an expert in shooter games, fueling the current speculation.
While the details of the specific game under development are not known yet, such a game could be incorporated into the Netflix architecture. The company says it’s for a creative and highly-skilled Game Director, to help forge the game’s direction. The person will provide the vision and direction for the game from the concept phase up to launch and actual live operations. He is expected to bring industry-leading craft expertise and attention to detail.
Netflix asserts that creating a great game that players will want to come back to again and again. It says customers will be able to create, ship, and run a game without any competing design constraints. There are other allied listings by Netflix including a lead engineer. Netflix’s LA studio is expected to be the base for AAA PC game development. It could also be working on a cloud-gaming platform for higher-quality offerings to Netflix subscribers.
There are no specifics yet on the quantum of investment already devoted by Netflix to the AAA PC games cause. The adventure into the terrain of building AAA games is time-consuming and expensive. Amazon is one of the spectacular failures in the space and Netflix hopes to chart a more productive path.
Samsung is one of the largest technology companies in the world. Even though most of us know Samsung with smartphones, the company actually consists of many different departments. One of these departments is Samsung Display, which is responsible for developing and producing panel technologies. The South Korean technology giant produces displays under this brand both for itself and for many of its competitors, including Apple. It seems that the company is so successful in its business that it produced the screens of 7 out of every 10 iPhones sold.
Samsung is dominating the Apple iPhone 14 OLED supply this year
Apple works with several suppliers for the OLED screens it uses in iPhones. The most important of these are BOE, LG Display, and Samsung Display. According to recent reports, Samsung is dominating the Apple iPhone 14 OLED supply this year. Apple is expected to use more than 120 million OLED panels for the iPhone 14. Almost 70% of these panels will be produced by its biggest competitor.
The company is expecting to ship mid-80 million units out of that total of 120 million. Its closest competitor is LG Display is expected to ship mid-20 million units while BOE is to ship up to 6 million units. Samsung Display supplies OLED panels for all four models; LG Display supplies LTPS for the regular 6.1-inch model and LTPO for the 6.7-inch Pro Max model. BOE only supplies LTPS for the 6.1-inch regular iPhone.
OLED displays are among the most expensive parts used in iPhones. Considering all this, it is concluded that Apple makes money for Samsung from every iPhone it sells. However, this does not change the fact that the US company has outstripped all its competitors in the premium smartphone market.

The Galaxy A34 will arrive as the successor to the Galaxy A33 which was announced earlier this year.
The Galaxy A34 CAD renders show that it will feature a waterdrop notch on the top. The screen is surrounded by bezels on all sides with the chin more thicker. Since the predecessor model featured an AMOLED display, the A34 is also tipped to come with the same panel. There is a SIM card tray at the top while the bottom edge houses a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The left side of the phone is barren, while the right edge has a volume rocker and a power key. The back panel has three traditional camera rings with an LED flash unit placed beside it. The phone is seen in Black colour option and we can expect more at launch.

Past report revealed that Samsung will ditch the depth camera on its upcoming Galaxy A-series phones. The Galaxy A24, A34, and A54 are tipped to come with a triple camera setup comprising a main sensor, ultra-wide-angle lens, and a macro unit. The South Koren brand plans to do this to reduce costs. The Samsung Galaxy A34 is expected to release sometime in the first quarter of 2023.

Aqara, has teamed up with LG Uplus (LG U+), one of the top telecom operators in South Korea, and upgraded the co-branded smart home security solution for local users. This solution, named My Home Guard, includes both hardware devices and home security services jointly developed by both parties. Built on the previous generation, the updated solution features a more advanced home security camera with higher resolution, a pan-and-tilt motor, as well as AI-enabled human tracking and pet tracking. The original solution was first introduced to the market in September 2020 under the Aqara – LG U+ partnership.
What does Aqara and LG U+ partnership offer?
For years, telecommunication operators have been exploring new growth opportunities outside cellular and fixed broadband services, and the smart home market shows high potential. Operators are increasingly looking to smart home services for additional revenues, higher customer stickiness and brand differentiation.
They are uniquely positioned within the smart home ecosystem thanks to their already well-developed relationship and trust with their vast subscriber base. Aqara has been collaborating with global operators such as LG U+ to offer seamless connected home experiences to users while boosting smart home adoption.
The My Home Guard solution is one of the smart home services provided by LG U+ in South Korea. With a monthly subscription, LG U+ users receive a home security kit, which includes an indoor surveillance camera, two door and window sensors and a motion sensor. Like all Aqara products, the devices in this kit are easy to install and set up, and require no tool. Moreover, the devices are pre-paired, which means subscribers only need to connect the camera to the app, and other accessories will connect automatically.
Compared to the original version, the updated home security solution features a more advanced home security camera with new functionalities and upgrades, including:
2K High Resolution: the 2304*1296 pixel sensor enables crystal-clear image quality;
Local AI: thanks to a powerful NPU, the cameras distinguishes human and pets, so that pet owners can set the security system to be triggered only when human shade is detected, which significantly reduces false alarms caused by pet movements;
360° Viewing Angle: the combo of the 110° wide-angle lens and a pan-and-tilt motor provides 360° viewing angle, which leaves no blind spot in the room and enables advanced features like automatic cruising, human tracking and pet tracking;
Privacy Protection: the camera is equipped with a privacy shutter that physically covers the camera lens when the camera is deactivated, so that users are reassured that their privacy is well protected;
Dual-band Wi-Fi Support: both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks are supported, which allows better bandwidth for the camera.
The solution also includes the 24/7 home security monitor service. Once armed, the home security system will push mobile notifications to the subscribed user and automatically activate the home camera to record if an intrusion is detected, whether it is an unexpected motion at home or the opening of the front door.
The mobile app has the one-click-to-police button, so that users can check the real-time camera feeds and simply push one button to contact the police (112) if an intrusion is confirmed. Home accident insurance is also part of this solution, where the subscribers can receive up to 10 million won in the case of theft and break-in, and up to 20 million won in the case of fire damage.
The co-branded home security solution has gained increasing popularity among local users, attracting hundreds of thousands of subscribers. LG U+ and Aqara are looking to extend the partnership to more smart home services such as home automation.

Although customers like Apple products, it is indisputable that their prices are expensive. Although the company has released affordable devices such as the 10th Gen iPad to solve this situation, it is not enough. For example, someone who buys the iPad I mentioned has to buy a Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil in order to use all the features. Unfortunately, these products are also quite expensive. Unfortunately, these products are also quite expensive, but allegedly, Apple worked on a cheap Apple Pencil that would eliminate this problem, but gave up at the last minute.
The ‘cheap’ Apple Pencil would have sold for $49
According to a post on Weibo, Apple scrapped plans for a $50 version of the Apple Pencil, even though already entered mass production. This version of the Apple Pencil allegedly featured iPhone compatibility and also would have solved one of the big complaints about the 10th Gen iPad. As you know, the cheap iPad now uses USB-C, but the compatible Apple Pencil is charged via lightning, which requires users to buy an extra $9 dongle (sold separately).
The source says that Apple had a new Apple Pencil in the works, codenamed “Marker,” that it was planning to release at its September iPhone 14 event. Apple was reportedly targeting a price of around $49 for this accessory, making it significantly cheaper than the first-generation Apple Pencil and the Apple Pencil 2. Current models are currently priced at $129 and $99.
Unfortunately, its affordable price would also cause us to lose some features. Cheap Apple Pencil apparently didn’t feature pressure-sensing technology or a battery inside. Instead of this, the company developed a chip that would be used to power the stylus through the screen. We’ve seen this technology before on Samsung’s S-Pen models.
In addition, it was planned to be compatible with iPhones. Unfortunately, other Apple Pencil models did not work on phone screens. This could be annoying, especially considering the size of the iPhone Pro Max. Unfortunately, for an unknown reason, this product was cancelled.
Tecno has unveiled the first dual prism telephoto camera that automatically tracks moving objects. The Tecno Eagle Eye Lens uses a system of two prisms that serves to enhance the quality of motion pictures. Typical telephoto lenses feature optical image stabilization (OIS). However, because optical stabilization multiplies handshakes, it still requires the user to manually track a moving object. This also tends to amplify the handshake and quality of the image.
In the two-prism setup of the Eagle Eye Lens, each prism can rotate along one axis at ±8 degrees and the other at ±10 degrees. The camera combines the two prisms to automatically track an object by up to 16º on one axis and 20º on the other axis. Optical image stabilization is also present in the Eagle Eye Lens, correcting as much as ±6º. The OIS and automatic image tracking are powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
The Tecno Eagle Eye Lens works for photos and videos, resulting in better image quality. Tecno says it can capture high-speed images during car races or other high-octane events. It is expected that the Eagle Eye Lens will debut in Tecno and other smartphones in 2023. Tecno has not released any specifics yet on the first smartphone to feature the Eagle Eye Lens. It will be impressive to see the Eagle Eye Lens in an actual smartphone which will be great for photography.
