ASUS Becomes 2nd Most Popular Laptop Brand in India

ASUS has become the 2nd most popular laptop maker in the Indian market. A new report has revealed that the company is now one of the top notebook brands in the region with a sizeable market share.

According to an IDC report, the Taiwanese PC maker achieved a market share of 20.6 percent during the third quarter of this year. This company also saw a 9 percent growth year on year in Q3 2022 over Q3 2021. ASUS saw decent growth despite the overall market seeing a decline of 12 percent during this same period. The company also saw a rise in market share between the second quarter and third quarter. The former had it achieve a 15 percent market share.

As per Arnold Su, Business Head, Consumer and Gaming PC, ASUS India, “We are thrilled to capture the No. 2 position in the consumer notebook category in India in Q3 2022. It is a great moment for us to cherish & celebrate since our initial goal for this year was to touch 20% market share in India. With this accomplishment, we are aligned with our vision and hoping to receive newer and bigger heights in 2023 by offering customers innovative and high performance devices.”

The company had released a number of notable laptops in the region this year, which included some innovative notebooks like the Zenbook Pro Duo, Zenbook 17 Fold, Zephyrus and ROG Flow series, and Strix Scar 17 SE and other models. The brand is also aiming on expanding its existing OLED laptop portfolio as well to make the OLED display technology the mainstream choice in the near future.

In July, Infinix unveiled the Infinix 32Y1 HD smart TV, priced at Rs 8,999 (~$110) in India. Later in October, the company unveiled a larger TV from the same series called the Infinix 43Y1 smart TV. While the 32-inch model supports HD resolution, the 43-inch variant comes with support for Full HD resolution. It comes with other features like a bright display, 20W speakers, and support for only OTT apps. Here is our first impressions of the 43Y1.

Infinix 43Y1 smart TV price and availability

The Infinix 43Y1 costs Rs 13,999 (~$175). It will be available for purchase starting today (Nov. 25) exclusively through Flipkart. It comes with a 1-year warranty.

Screen and Audio

As can be seen in the images, the 43-inch LED screen is surrounded by slim bezels, which are made from polycarbonate. The screen supports a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The company claims that it offers 16 million+ hues, up to 300 nits of brightness, and HLG support for better color replication. The picture quality is adequate for a TV under Rs 15,000 (~$184) in India.

For audio, the Infinix 43Y1 smart TV features a pair of 20W box speakers with Dolby Audio support. The sound output is quite loud. If you are someone who has no plans to purchase a soundbar, you will be satisfied with the loudness of the built-in speakers.

By default, it comes with picture mode options like Eco (default), standard, vivid, movie, game, sport, and user. The sound modes available on the TV include standard, movie, music, soccer, and user.

Apps

Turn on the TV, and you are greeted with an interface that is similar to what you see on Android TVs. The interface has tabs like For You, Movies, Series, Animations, Kids, App Store, and Short Videos. Like the 32Y1, the 43Y1 runs on a Linux-based OS, which gives access to OTT platforms like Prime Video, Zee5, Sony LIV, Aaj Tak, Al Jazeera, and more. There is a universal search that can be used to search content across all the apps on the TV.

A couple of apps like Disney+ Hotstar and Netflix are not available on the device. The in-built web browser has bookmarks for websites such as Hotstar, MX Player, AltBalaji, Voot, Google, NDTV, and more. Users can also create their own bookmarks to quickly access any website without having to enter the URL.

I tried accessing Hotstar, and the experience was okay, as I was able to easily start a replay of an F1 race in a few seconds. I believe the missing apps will be added to the TV via a future software update, but I can’t say when that will be.

The remote has dedicated keys for accessing YouTube, Prime Video, and the web browser, among other buttons. The TV comes with support for screen mirroring with Android phones via WiFi but lacks Bluetooth support.

Hardware and Connectivity

The spec sheet of the TV states that it is powered by a MediaTek chip and packs Mali-G31 graphics. It offers an internal storage capacity of 4 GB. When it comes to connectivity, the TV offers options like 2 HDMI ports, 2 AV ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 optical port, 1 RF port, an RJ45 LAN port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. These ports are accessible through the left and bottom sides of the TV.

The TV supports screen mirroring with Android and iOS devices. I was able to successfully cast my phone and my iPad onto the TV. Users can also add a USB drive and view the media files stored on it.

The only other Linux-based TV from a known manufacturer that competes with the Infinix 43Y1 smart is the Vu Premium (43-inch), which is priced at Rs 17,999 (~$221).

Furthermore, there will also be a set of limited edition F77 models and only 77 units of these will be manufactured.

These will also carry the numbers ranging from 001 to 077. Talking about the e-bike itself, the Gen2 F77 is powered by a 10.5kWh battery with 2.5 times the battery capacity. Ultraviolette will also be providing two types of chargers, namely regular and boost that offer 36 km/h and 70 km/h charging respectively. Being a sports bike, it also comes with a modern racing aesthetic with an angular body and the company’s unique light design. It also comes with a 5 inch display, dual channel ABS, adjustable suspension, and multiple drive modes.

The Ultraviolette F77 has just been launched in the Indian market for a starting price tag of 3.8 lakhs INR, while the F77 Recon will be available for around 4.55 lakh INR. Lastly, the limited edition models will go for around 5.55 lakh INR. The pre-bookings for this model is already live, and the roll out is expected to start in Bengaluru first, with shipments hitting other states soon after.

Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO is all set to launch its new flagship smartphone under the iQOO 11 series along with the iQOO Neo 7 SE smartphone at a launch event on 2nd December in its home country China.

Now, just days before the official launch event, the company has shared a new teaser poster that reveals some information about the iQOO 11 series’ processor and memory.

As per the teaser poster shared by the company, the iQOO 11 series will come powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and it will be coupled with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 internal storage.

A recently shared render of the iQOO 11 in a color edition inspired by BMW M Motorsport with a three-color stipe has revealed that the phone will come with a flat display on the front and a triple-camera setup on the back, which will be driven by Vivo V2 ISP.

The iQOO 11 flagship smartphone will come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display offering a screen resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and an independent display chip.

In the camera department, there will be a 50-megapixel primary sensor on the back, coupled with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens and an 8-megapixel macro sensor. On the front side, the device will have a 16-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling. It will run Android 13 OS with OriginOS 3 on top and will be powered by a 4,700mAh battery with support for 200W fast charging.

The launch of the Xiaomi 13 series is expected to be just a few weeks away. However, prior to any official announcement, a new benchmark listing has revealed some of the device’s key specifications. So let’s have a look.

The Chinese tech giant’s upcoming flagship smartphone was spotted on the popular benchmarking website called GeekBench. For those unaware, the new Xiaomi 13 series is expected to consist of two models, namely the base 13 and the higher end 13 Pro model. Now, the base variant has surfaced on GeekBench, which revealed that it will feature Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

The online database also revealed that this chipset will be paired with at least 12GB of RAM. Although we can expect higher memory variants and a starting RAM option of 8GB as well. The GeekBench 5 listing also revealed that the device will carry the 2211133C model number and will run on Android 13 OS based MIUI out of the box. In the benchmarks, the Xiaomi 13 scored 1497 points in the single core test and 5089 points in the multi core tests.

Unfortunately, this was all the information revealed regarding the new high end smartphone. We have already covered a number of leaks about the premium grade handset. Based on these previous reports, we know that the device will feature Leica lenses for its rear cameras, run MIUI 14 custom skin out of the box, and even recently revealed its design through leaked CAD renders.

The entry-level Rockchip RK2566 with four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores running at 1.8GHz and a Mali-G52 GPU power the GKD Mini Plus. It includes a 3,000mAh battery and 1GB of RAM. Along with quad shoulder buttons, it also has many more buttons. The portable has a USB-C connector that may be used for data transfer and charging. The gadget also includes a 3.5mm audio jack and two microSD card readers.

The GKD Mini Plus consoles are capable of emulating over 2,500 games including games from Game Boy and Game Boy Advance consoles. The Mini Plus Classic will soon be offered on Kickstarter for US$139 before going up to US$279, claims GKD. Although you can already reserve a unit on the Game Kiddy website for US$1, the company has not stated when the product would be available on the crowdfunding platform.

Nothing OS 1.1.7 update rolls out with battery percentage for Airpods, November security patch

Nothing Phone (1) users have begun receiving the most recent Nothing OS 1.1.7. The update now displays the battery percentage of the AirPods, improves OS smoothness and audio quality, addresses several known problems, and includes the November security patch. For the Nothing Phone (1).

The update comes with firmware version S1.1-221121-2306, weighing about 79MB in size. The majority of users have started receiving the Nothing OS 1.1.7 update, which is being rolled out via OTA. MediaTek has been releasing new smartphone chipsets in the past few weeks, and the trend continues for the company as it is now all set to launch yet another smartphone processor in the market — MediaTek Dimensity 8200.

The company has officially confirmed thorugh a teaser poster that the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC will be announced on 1st December. The teaser hints that the chipset will be more focused on energy efficiency.

While the company has not yet confirmed this, iQOO has teased that the iQOO Neo 7 SE will be the first smartphone to come powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC, which is set to go official on 2nd December in the Chinese market.

As for the processor itself, some leaks have claimed that the chipset will come with four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. There will be one A78 core clocked at 3.1GHz, three A78 cores at 3.0GHz, and four efficient cores A55 at 2.0GHz. It will continue to have the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU found on the Dimensity 8100.

The iQOO Neo 7 SE, which is set to be the first device to run Dimensity 8200, is expected to feature a 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz screen resolution, a 5,000mAh battery, and 120W fast charging. Apart from iQOO, Redmi is also expected to soon launch a smartphone powered by this new upcoming chipset.

As was said at the launch, the device can be bought in the home market starting today. The Oppo A1 Pro has a curved-edge OLED display with a centrally aligned punch-hole, which offers a 93 percent screen-to-body ratio. The 6.7-inch FHD+ panel supports a refresh rate of 120Hz, a peak brightness of 950 nits, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and DCI-P3 color gamut.

It has a 16MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. On the back, it has a 108-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an LED flash unit.

The Snapdragon 695 SoC, LPDDR4x RAM, and UFS 2.2 storage power up the OPPO A1 Pro. It gets its power from a 4,800mAh battery that supports 67W charging. It runs ColorOS 13, which is based on Android 13.

Other features of the device include an under-display fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, a microSD card slot, NFC, dual SIM support, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and a USB-C port. The device weighs 171 grams and has a thickness of 7.7mm.

We know that Vivo is gearing up to launch a new entry-level smartphone soon. Multiple leaks from earlier have revealed the design, specs, and pricing of the device in India. Now, a new report has surfaced that reveals the design of the Vivo Y02 in better detail and also unveils its launch date.

The report comes from MySmartPrice, which cites known tipster Paras Guglani as the source. It reveals the complete design of the Vivo Y02, revealing a water drop at the top of the display, along with thick bezels around the top and bottom of the smartphone’s screen. A rectangular camera module with a sizable circular cutout is located on the back. The smartphone will have a single camera sensor and an LED flash module on the back.

A poster for the Vivo Y2 confirms that it will feature 3GB of RAM, a 5,000mAh battery, and will launch on November 28th. The phone most likely has a plastic back and frame. On the right edge of the phone, it houses the power and volume buttons. At the bottom edge is where you’ll find the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Other information relating to the phone has previously emerged. According to reports, it has an HD+ resolution 6.51-inch Halo FullView IPS LCD. A single 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera sensor will be included.

The phone will have 32GB of internal storage and support microSD card expansion. A MediaTek Helio P22 SoC will be found inside. Funtouch OS 12 based on Android 12 is most likely what the device comes pre-installed with. According to Vivo, the phone would be on sale for Rs 8,449 in India. The launch date for India is not yet revealed.

Brazil seizes iPhones from retail stores as Apple fails to comply with charger requirement

A couple of months ago, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice ordered the suspension of iPhone sales in the country after it concluded that Apple harms consumers by not offering the power adapter when they purchase the device. Even after the company was slapped with a million-dollar fine, it is still not complying with the order.

Now, the regulator for Federal District-based consumer protection has seized Apple iPhones from retailers or retail stores as the technology giant failed to comply with the requirements.

A report by Technoblog reveals that Procon-DF has seized hundreds of Apple iPhones from different retail stores in Brasilia, Brazil. It added that as a part of “Operation Discharge,” the regulator plans to force Apple to comply with the local law that requires smartphones to be shipped with a charger in the box.

It further adds that the regulator is seizing devices from the carrier stores and authorized Apple retailers. It is only seizing the devices that come without a charger in the box, followed by a decision from the Ministry of Justice to block Apple from selling iPhones in Brazil without chargers included.

For those who are unaware, Apple stopped including a charger in the box with the iPhone 12 series, but the company also updated iPhone 11 series retail box to come without a charger.

After the devices were seized, Apple Brazil requested the government to allow sales of smartphones in the country until the final decision is pending as the company has filed an appeal. Although the company says it is confident of winning the legal battle, its action suggests otherwise. The newly launched Apple TV 4K comes with a USB-C charger in the box, but the company doesn’t reveal a reason behind this.

Oppo Pad, was unveiled as the company’s first-ever tablet in February 2022. A recent report claimed that the Chinese manufacturer is gearing up to launch its successor edition. Tipster Digital Chat Station has shared key details about the OPPO Pad 2. While the predecessor model was powered by the Snapdragon 870, the Pad 2 will be equipped with a Dimensity chip.

OPPO Pad 2 Specifications (Rumored)

According to DCS, the OPPO Pad 2 will feature an 11-inch LCD screen. It will offer a 2.8K (2800 x 2000 pixels) resolution. The LCD screen on the original model is the same size but has a lower resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.

Instead of the SD870 chip, the Pad 2 will arrive with the Dimensity 9000 chip onboard. The leak claims that the upcoming OPPO tab will pack a large memory and a big battery with fast charging. DCS did not share any other information about the device.

The Find N2 and Find N2 Flip foldable phones from OPPO should be shown off at the INNO Day 2022 event in December. At the same event, the company is also likely to share some details about the upcoming Find X6 series of flagship phones. It’s not clear if it will show off the OPPO Pad 2 along with its new foldable phones in December.

The Oppo Pad has an 11-inch IPS LCD display that offers 2560 x 1600 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The SD870-powered device has up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of built-in storage.

The tablet packs an 8,360mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It has an LED flash-assisted 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. It was launched with a starting price of 2,299 Yuan (~$321).

Lava has silently announced the Lava Blaze NXT smartphone in India. Its landing page, available on Amazon India, has revealed all its key features and price. The Blaze NXT is an updated version of the Lava Blaze (4G) phone, which debuted a couple of months ago in India. In terms of design, it looks identical to the Blaze phone. Hence, it continues to feature a glass back, which accentuates its appearance. Here’s a look at all the major specifications of the Blaze NXT.

Lava Blaze NXT specifications

The Lava Blaze NXT features a 6.5-inch IPS panel that offers an HD+ resolution. The waterdrop notch on the screen houses an 8-megapixel camera. Its rear-facing triple camera unit has a 13-megapixel primary camera. The details of its auxiliary cameras are not known yet, but it appears that the main snapper could be accompanied by a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a VGA camera.

Under the hood, the Blaze NXT has the Helio G37v chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The device offers 3 GB of virtual RAM and 64 GB of storage. For additional storage, it has a microSD card slot onboard.

The Blaze NXT runs on the near-stock version of Android 12 OS. To keep the lights on, the device packs a 5,000mAh battery, which can be charged via a USB-C port. The company claims that the Blaze NXT will offer an all-day experience once it is fully charged. It also features a 3.5mm audio jack and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Lava Blaze (4G) packs the same specs as the Blaze NXT. The only major differences between the two phones are that the Blaze (4G) features an Helio A22 chip and 3 GB of RAM.

Recently, iQOO confirmed that it will hold its next launch event to announce the iQOO 11 series on Dec. 2 in China. Today, it released a new Weibo post to confirm that the iQOO Neo 7 SE will also debut through the same event, which takes place at 2:30 pm (local time) on the said date. The image shown below is a screengrab from the official teaser video of the Neo 7 SE.

The teaser reveals that the iQOO Neo 7 SE will come in a blue variant. The rear-facing triple camera unit of the phone will support Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The device will come equipped with the Dimensity 8200 chipset, which is scheduled to debut on Dec. 1.

Reports have claimed that there is another model called the iQOO Neo 7s in the works. This device is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. It is unclear whether the Neo 7s will also be made official through the same event.

iQOO Neo 7 SE Specifications (Rumored)

A recent report revealed that the iQOO Neo 7 SE will have a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz resolution. It has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and a 64-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (portrait) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit.

The Dimensity 8200-powered device will come with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It will house a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.

The Neo 7 SE will run on the Android 13 OS, which will be skinned with OriginOS 3. The handset measures 164.8 x 76.9 x 8.5mm and weighs around 194 grams. Design and build

The design and the build quality of the Amazfit Falcon are way better than the Amazfit T-Rex 2. The smartwatch is made of titanium and it is definitely one of the sturdiest and most beautiful rugged watches ever. It is waterproof up to 20 ATM and it is even more compact than its internal rival. Unfortunately, the Amazfit T-Rex 2 is made of polymer alloy, but it still offers a huge resistance to drops and scratches, so you should not underestimate it. It is another waterproof watch, but it stops to a maximum of 10 ATM in terms of water resistance.

Display

Even though it is a more affordable smartwatch, the Amazfit T-Rex 2 has a better display than the Amazfit Falcon. It is an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 1.39 inches, a HD resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, a 329 ppi pixel density and a max brightness of 1,000 nits. It also supports the Always On Display mode. The Oxa breathing wearable has been launched via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The latest product from Swiss company Nanoleq features real-time biofeedback for health metrics like breathing depth and speed.

The Oxa breathing wearable is claimed to be the first wearable dedicated to exploring breathing from several dimensions. It allows the user to understand the effects of your respiration patterns on the body and the mind. The Oxa breathing wearable provides biometric information across a wide range of metrics. Apart from monitoring your breathing speed and depth, the Oxa provides heart rate tracking and sleep monitoring. The wearable is clipped into a specially-made shirt or bra and worn for it to take measurements. Nanoleq has deployed gamification to teach users of the breathing wearable how to optimize their breathing.

The companion app of the Oxa breathing wearable provides practice breathing techniques that could improve overall body functions. The guided exercises accessed through the app are tailored to your specific breathing and health needs. It can also provide visual prompts or soundscapes for deeper relaxation. The device is claimed to be capable of reducing your stress over time.

The Kickstarter campaign for the Oxa breathing wearable requires a minimum pledge of €239 (~ $249). The Oxa sensor, access to the Oxa Life app, and the Oxa Shirt are included in the lowest pledge offer.
