Realme 10 Pro+ Price in India Teased To Be Under Rs 25,000

Realme 10 Pro series is set to debut in the global and Indian market on December 8th. The smartphones were launched in China last week and the brand sold 2,00,000 units of the Pro and Pro+ model in the first sale. The global and Indian variants are expected to come with the same specifications as their Chinese counterpart. Now Realme Vice President Madhav Sheth has shared a cryptic meme teaser of the Realme 10 Pro series.

The latest teaser spills some information about the pricing of the upcoming Realme 10 Pro+. In the video, Sheth is seen discussing about democratizing curved display with another executive which is potentially the Realme 10 Pro+. In the background, two people from the Product team are seen figuring out how to fit it under Rs 25,000 price segment. It remains to be seen whether the teased pricing details are inclusive of bank offers and discounts on the upcoming smartphone. If the Realme 10 Pro+ indeed arrives under Rs 30,000, it will be the first smartphone to sport a curved display in the price bracket. A curved screen is mostly found on flagship phones priced above Rs 50,000.

In China, the Realme 10 Pro+ carries a starting price tag of RMB 1,699 (~Rs 19,400) for the base model.

The Realme 10 Pro series will feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Realme 10 Pro has an LCD flat screen, whereas the Pro+ model features curved edges along with an OLED panel and an integrated fingerprint scanner. The Realme 10 Pro duo sport a gradient back panel design with two traditional camera rings. Both smartphones have a 108MP main sensor paired with a 2MP macro lens. The Pro+ variant features an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper.

Under the hood, the Realme 10 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 695 SoC, whereas the Pro+ model is powered by a Dimensity 1080 processor. The Pro duo pack up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB native storage. They are backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with the Pro and Pro+ variants supporting 33W and 67W charging.

OPPO Reno9 vs Realme 10 Pro+: Specs Comparison

The OPPO Reno9 series went official with three variants. A few days before, the Realme 10 Series debuted as well. The base variant of the former and the high-end variant of the latter, are placed in the same price range. We are talking about the vanilla OPPO Reno9 and the Realme 10 Pro+: two phones that share several things in common, but are very different at the same time. Given their price tags, a lot of people want to know which one is the best and which one suits their needs the most. So, we decided to make things clearer. Here is a comparison between the main specifications of the OPPO Reno9 and the Realme 10 Pro Plus.

Design

The design of the OPPO Reno9 is definitely one of the best of 2022. First of all, it is one of the thinnest phones out there, with a thickness of just 7.2 mm. It is even very lightweight as it weighs just 174 grams. It comes with a curved screen at the sides, just like the most expensive Android phones, and its rear design is very original. Even though I prefer the OPPO Reno9, the Realme 10 Pro Plus is still one of the most beautiful devices out there. It has a curved screen just like the OPPO, it is very thin and lightweight, but thicker than its rival: 7.8 mm. They are definitely two of the most beautiful phones in the midrange segment alongside the latest CIVI phone from Xiaomi.

Display

It looks like the OPPO Reno9 and the Realme 10 Pro Plus have exactly the same display because the specifications are identical. We are talking about an AMOLED panel able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD Plus resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and a peak brightness of 950 nits. The panel also includes an in-display fingerprint reader. So, given that the display specifications are the same, you would better focus on the remaining specifications if you are trying to decide which phone to choose. Note that the Realme 10 Pro Plus comes with stereo speakers offering a superior audio experience, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack, while the OPPO Reno9 has a mono speaker and no audio jack.

Specs & Software

The OPPO Reno9 wins the hardware comparison because it is equipped with a better chipset, even though it is an older SoC. We are talking about the Snapdragon 778G mobile platform by MediaTek, built with a 6 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture. The SoC is composed of a Cortex A78 CPU running at a max frequency of 2.4 GHz, three Cortex A78 CPUs running at 2.2 GHz, four Cortex A55 CPUs running at 1.9 GHz, and an Adreno 642L GPU. Alongside the chipset, there are up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The Realme 10 Pro Plus has an inferior Dimensity 1080 running at a max frequency of 2.6 GHz, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage. The user interfaces are more or less the same: these phones run Android 13 out of the box, highly customized by ColorOS 13 and Realme UI 4.0, respectively. Realme UI 4.0 is just a slightly different version of ColorOS 13.

Camera

The camera setup of the Realme 10 Pro Plus beats the one found on the OPPO Reno9. The handset features a triple camera setup including a 108 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro shooter, as well as a 16 MP selfie snapper. Unfortunately, the OPPO Reno9 has an inferior midrange-class 64 MP rear camera and it does not include an ultrawide lens, but it has a better selfie camera.

Battery

With the Realme 10 Pro Plus, you get a bigger 5000 mAh battery and a longer battery life. The charging speeds are the same, with 67W fast charging, but the Reno9 has a smaller 4500 mAh battery.

Price

The starting price of the Realme 10 Pro+ is €230/$230 in China (8/128 GB), while the OPPO Reno9 starts from €340/$340 (8/256 GB). Which one would you choose?

Honda Files Trademark For Motocompacto, an electric version of the iconic Motocompo

Japanese automaker Honda has filed a trademark application for the Motocompacto, a likely tiny e-motorbike. The trademark filing draws similarities with the Honda Motocompo of the 1980s. The Motocompo was a tiny ICE motorcycle designed to fit inside the trunk of a small car. It offered drivers a way of extending their reach into the city.

The name of the trademark, therefore, bears a close resemblance to the Motocompo but we expect the new bike will be electric-powered, unlike its predecessor. This is however not the first time there has been speculation of an electric version of the Motocompo. The first Motocompacto trademark was filed by Honda in 2020 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The vehicle was simply described as relating to an electric scooter in the 2020 filing.

Another trademark filing with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office has now been made for Motocompacto. There are two separate filings in the Canadian case with the second filing spelled as Moto Compacto. The description for the trademark is that it is related to Goods Land vehicles, namely self-balancing electric scooters; electrically-powered motor scooters. The Canadian application also includes a logo design for the trademark featuring a compact scooter.

Up to 50,000 units of the tiny Motocompo were produced between 1981 and 1983. It is expected that the electric version of this compact bike will be smaller with the absence of a gas engine. It is also likely to come with several other innovations to thrill the market. Honda seems on course to accomplish its plans to release 10 new electric motorbikes and scooters by 2025. It has also unveiled the Honda EM1 design for its electric moped in Europe during EICMA 2022.

The compact design of the Motocompacto, together with its lineup of tech features could stimulate the attention of the market to the Honda brand. There are no official details yet from Honda on the Motocompacto.

Microsoft May Have Revealed the Release Date of GTA 6

GTA (Grand Theft Auto) is one of the most popular games of all time. Even though the fifth game in the series was released in 2013, it still breaks sales records. However, players have been waiting for long-time producer Rockstar Games to release the highly anticipated GTA 6. Luckily, we might have just gotten a small indication of the release date of GTA 6 from Microsoft.

According to Microsoft GTA 6 release date is 2024

Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard has caught the radar of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK’s regulatory body. The CMA opened an investigation and began examining the billion-dollar deal. Microsoft’s response to the investigation was quick, and the company defended itself in a document. Surprisingly, some information in the document gave us a clue about the release date of GTA 6.

A section from the Microsoft report shows the release date of GTA 6 as 2024.
A section from the Microsoft report shows the release date of GTA 6 as 2024.

Microsoft essentially argues that Call of Duty alone does not constitute enough of the market share to hurt competition, thus pointing to franchises like Grand Theft Auto. The most striking point is on Page 24 of the document: “The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is expected to be released in 2024”.

GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI)

Considering the level of cooperation between Microsoft and Rockstar, we can say this information is likely correct. However, the company is under CMA investigation, and a billion-dollar deal could be in jeopardy. Therefore, it is impossible to say anything definite about the accuracy of the information.

Reports have suggested that the game could be prepped for launch by 2025, although a 2024 release date doesn’t seem unlikely. There is also a good chance that Rockstar could announce a 2024 release date initially and delay it to the next year. A game the scale of Grand Theft Auto VI needs all the polish and time in development it can get.

Vehicle Mounted Drones – Patented By Geely in China

The use of drones continues to increase and their use continues to become widespread. This technology, which once stayed in the air for only a few minutes and was no different from a simple remote-controlled helicopter, is used for many different purposes today. This includes professional shots. Lastly, Chinese auto company Geely has filed a new patent application that combines the use of drones with cars.

You will take unique shots with the Geely car drone

The Geely car drone patent, which was registered to the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office, is quite interesting. First of all, let’s say that this is not an attachment that can be placed on the car, a direct feature of the vehicle. According to the patent, the drone is located in a special compartment in the engine cover. The compartment, which has a second door that can be opened and closed, can be used for the drone to land or take off.

The opening and closing mechanism of the cover plate is translational, and the opening direction of the cover plate is parallel to the extension plane of the motor case. Thanks to this mechanism, the driver’s view is not blocked, so that even when the vehicle is in motion, it can take off or land.

The automatic drone can offer unique shots with features such as follow mode. In addition, there are many different uses, such as a second additional camera in traffic accidents, and a pair of eyes in the air that will allow you to see the road ahead. Actually, this isn’t Geely’s first similar work.

Earlier this year, the company launched a concept car called the Polestar O2, equipped with an automatic drone behind the vehicle’s rear seats. Developed in partnership with Aerofugia’s consumer electronics brand, Hoco Flow, the concept drone can take off while a car is in motion, capturing excellent images.

The drone operates fully autonomously and automatically tracks vehicles up to 90 km/h. Drivers can choose “High Altitude Environment Mode” (well suited for coastline cruise shooting) or “Sports Tracking” mode to record more dynamic driving footage. After the shooting is completed, the drone can automatically return to the vehicle. While the vehicle is stationary, the driver can edit and share video clips directly from the 15-inch center display.

WhatsApp to Soon Offer Voice Status Updates on iOS Beta

WhatsApp is constantly working on new features that make their way to its beta builds on either iOS or Android platforms. Now, it appears that the company is working on bringing an interesting new feature for its Status section on its iOS Beta build.

The news arrives from a WABetaInfo who spotted the feature in the iOS beta update. In the report, we can see a screenshot of the feature’s interface. Looking at this image, we can see that the popular messaging platform is working on letting users post voice statuses that are up to 30 seconds long on its application. Other users will be able to see these voice statuses by the microphone icon indicator at the bottom right corner, which is similar to one would see in an individual chat or a group chat.

Dogee V30

For those unaware, the status section typically shows a videos and images shared by the users. So now, this would be another form of interaction. As of right now, the beta build is only available for select users that had entered the beta programme. Typically, the Status updates stay on the the user’s ‘status’ for 24 hours, so we can expect a similar format for the WhatsApp Voice Status update as well.

This feature was spotted initially spotted in the Android beta app version 2.22.21.5. Similarly, the social media giant is also working on a number of features, which are currently under development. But unfortunately, we still have no idea when this feature might be arriving at the live build. So stick around for more updates regarding this matter.

Xiaomi records 10% drop in Revenue in Q3 2022, Reveals Number of People Using MIUI

Xiaomi has grown into one of the world’s largest tech companies over the past 10 years. The company, which grows at an incredible rate yearly, has won consumers appreciation with its price-performance-oriented products. However, this situation has unfortunately turned a bit negative recently. Xiaomi posted its quarterly financial analysis, and the numbers show a significant decline in revenue for the July-September 2022 period.

Xiaomi’s Q3 financial report reveals a 10% drop in revenues

Xiaomi has announced its 2022 Q3 revenue. Total revenue for the July-September 2022 period was declared to be 70.5 billion CNY (almost $10 billion). More than 50% of this came from overseas markets. The revenue is 10% lower compared to last year. Net profit dropped even more – 59% year-on-year to CNY 2.1 billion ($294 million). However, this is not due to the company’s bad course.

That was partially due to the CNY 829 million ($116 million) investment in the newly set up EV business and other projects that should bear fruit in the future. Based on this, we can say that the company continues to take firm steps towards the future. Third-quarter reports revealed not only the company’s revenues, but also the number of users.

Xiaomi Q3 revenue reports reveal the number of of MIUI users

Xiaomi users in the MIUI universe reached 564 million, 78.1 million more than the same period last year – a 16% yearly increase. Interestingly, only 141 million of them (about 25%) are in China. The company pushed 40.5 million smartphones in Q3 2022, and while it kept its 3rd position in the world.

Shipments also were down 7.8% yearly, with an 11.1% decrease in revenue. Xiaomi quoted “global macroeconomic headwinds” as one of the reasons, although it also enhanced promotional efforts in overseas markets. Moreover, the company’s success in Europe is increasing day by day. Xiaomi reached 2nd place in the European market, 1st place in Spain, and 2nd in Italy and France.

Sony & Honda’s New Autonomous EV may have a built-in PS5

Sony and Honda have been working on a new electric vehicle that will feature self driving technology. Now, a new report has revealed an interesting detail regarding this upcoming autonomous EV model and it includes a PlayStation 5.

For those unaware, the two Japanese giants entered into a joint venture earlier this year to bring together their respective technological expertise to create a sustainable automobile. The two firms are set to showcase a deliverable product by 2025 and expect to begin taking orders by the following year. Now, this Sony-Honda collaboration could bring a Level 3 autonomous EV model that might feature a full built in PlayStation 5 gaming console. In other words, this joint venture will use the former’s popular console built into the infotainment system.

Izumi Kawanishi, President of the Sony Honda Mobility, had stated that putting a PS5 into the upcoming autonomous vehicle is “technologically possible.” Meanwhile, Yasuhide Mizuno, chairman of Sony Honda Mobility, also said that the company aims to “develop a car as hardware that will cater to the entertainment and network we would like to offer.” With the joint venture the veteran automobile maker Honda would leverage the technological expertise of Sony to create an autonomous electric vehicle that is set to launch in the US market soon.

So, the new EV will be built with Honda’s mechanicals while Sony would be responsible for the electronics. This would include integrated sensors and technology that is crucial for the self driving technology. The joint venture would likely take on the likes of Tesla in the electric vehicle market. So we can expect to see some premium offerings.
