Galaxy Z Flip 4 teardown video shows modest improvements over the Z Flip 3

A PBK Reviews’ teardown video of the just-released Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has surfaced. The detailed video showed strong similarities between the new clamshell and its predecessor, even on the repairability scale.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes with much hype and expected significant improvements from its predecessor. The new teardown video provided the repairability particulars of the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

The PBK Reviews repairability video shows that the Z Flip 4 can be easily disassembled and fixed, similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The device does not have major design changes from its predecessor both within and on the exterior. The battery of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is split into two sections and their removal requires some care and the use of isopropyl alcohol. The larger part of the battery sits underneath several other components so it takes much effort to reach it.

The teardown video also showed how delicate the display of the Z Flip 4 is. Its internal screen should be handled with care, similar to the Z Flip 3. There are only minor differences between the internal architecture of both the Z Flip 3 and the Z Flip 4. One such difference is that the connectors were switched to opposite sides and the battery in the new model is linked to the motherboard under the cameras.

The mmWave 5G antenna of the new model was reduced from two to one, while the space for the second was left unused. Apart from these differences, the hardware of both devices remained similar and they both have the same repairability rating.

Xiaomi ships over 7 million 5G smartphones in India

Multiple countries around the world have had 5G networks for a while now. But India, the world’s second-largest smartphone market, is yet to witness the deployment of the next-gen mobile networks. Though it is supposed to happen by the end of this month, it is also being rumored to be delayed by a few weeks.

Ahead of the 5G rollout in the region, Xiaomi, the largest smartphone brand in the country, makes an announcement. The company says that it has shipped over 7 million 5G smartphones in India from May 2020 to June 2022. The firm cites data from IDC.

Xiaomi's 5G Smartphone Shipments Crosses 7 Million in India

Xiaomi’s first 5G smartphone in India was the Mi 10 5G. The handset was unaffordable for most Indians as it was introduced at ₹44,999. It was later followed by Mi 10T 5G and Mi 10T Pro 5G. These phones were only slightly cheaper than the former model.

Then, in January 2021, Xiaomi kicked off the year with its most affordable 5G smartphone in the region to date: Mi 10i 5G. This handset started at ₹20,999. It was one of the best-selling 5G phones during its time in the market.

The starting price of 5G smartphones was further lowered by Xiaomi in July 2021, with the introduction of the Redmi Note 10T 5G at ₹13,999. Over a year later, the Poco M4 5G is currently the cheapest 5G smartphone by Xiaomi in India at only ₹10,999.

Having said that, the initial 5G smartphones from Xiaomi and even by other brands only offered limited band support. Hence, some of them may not be able to provide a good 5G experience when the networks go live. But thankfully, the recent models have almost all the required bands.

Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models set to enter mass production this year

Apple has already announced the M2 chipset under its Apple Silicon lineup and has also launched the first MacBook powered by the new processor. Now, the company is gearing up to expand the lineup of Mac devices with the M2 series chips.

In line with that, it is being reported that the Cupertino-based technology giant is all set to start the mass production of Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch models powered by the new chipset sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

Apple MacBook Pro

The new report coming from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also adds that the company won’t be using the 3nm chipset produced by TSMC but will instead stick with the 5nm chip. This contradicts previous reports which claimed that the M2 Pro and Max would be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process.

The Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch models were launched by the company last year, powered by the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. So, we expect the upcoming refreshed version of the laptop to be powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max processors.

Whatever the case, it’s almost confirmed that TSMC will soon start manufacturing new chips for Apple based on the 3nm process, and it’s just a matter of time to see which MacBook device ends up being the first to come powered by the 3nm chips.
