It is worth noting that the update is also live for the special editions of these handsets, such as Oppo Reno FC Barcelona Edition (customized Reno 10x Zoom) and Oppo Reno Ace Gundam Edition.

As usual, the OTA software update is being pushed in batches. Therefore, it will take some time to reach all units. But every user should get access to the update in the coming days, including those in other regions as well.

Apple exec calls out Samsung for stealing their technology

An Apple executive has apparently slammed Samsung Electronics for stealing their technology. The official stated that the latter has practically stolen its iPhone for its smartphones.

Apple

The news arrives from Wall Street Journal‘s Joanna Stern who shared a new documentary (Via MacRumors). This documentary arrives ahead of the iPhone’s 15th anniversary and talks about the evolution of the Cupertino based giant’s iPhone. In the documentary, there is a video interview of Apple’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak, iPhone co creator Tony Fadell, and a family of iPhone users as well. One part of the interview has a brief mention about Android smartphones featuring larger displays year ahead of Apple.

Joswiak was also asked about how he felt about the impacts of Samsung and other Android smartphone makers in the market. To this, Joswiak stated that they were “annoying” and went on to accuse them for poorly copying Apple’s technology. He stated that “They were annoying. And they were annoying because, as you know, they ripped off our technology. They took the innovations that we had created and created a poor copy of it, and just put a bigger screen around it. So, yeah, we were none too pleased.”

Back in 2013, the South Korean brand had launched its flagship Galaxy S4 that featured a 5 inch display. Around the same time, the iPhone 5 was the direct rival and only had a 4 inch display in comparison. In the near future, iPhones with larger displays were released in the market. Although, Apple had also sued Samsung for patent infringement based on the latter’s phones copying iPhone’s design for the Galaxy series of smartphones.

Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro will feature 50MP Sony IMX707 camera sensor: Official

Xiaomi is all set to launch the Xiaomi 12S series in China on July 4. Ahead of that, the company is teasing the features of the phones. After revealing the design of the Pro model yesterday, the firm has disclosed the primary camera of all three handsets. We have covered the main camera of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra separately. Let’s take a look at the camera of the Xiaomi 12S and the Xiaomi 12S Pro in this article.

Xiaomi 12S Series Sony Camera Sensors

According to the official Weibo accounts of Xiaomi Phone and Lei Jun, the upcoming Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro will utilize a 50MP Sony IMX707 camera sensor. For the unaware, this is the same sensor, which is present on the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

This means the Xiaomi 12S Pro is not getting a hardware improvement for its main camera. But the Xiaomi 12S is getting an upgrade since the Xiaomi 12 has a comparatively smaller 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, which is commonly found on handsets from the Oplus group (Oppo, Oneplus, and Realme).

Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have on the camera hardware of the Xiaomi 12S series. On the software front, these smartphones will be using image processing co-tuned with Leica, which is touted to be the key selling point.

As we are still days away from the launch event, we expect Xiaomi to shed more details on the Xiaomi 12S lineup in the coming days. In the meantime, let us know your expectations in the comment section below.

Apple reportedly fails making its own in-house 5G modem chips for iPhone

Apple has been trying to reduce dependency on third-party suppliers for core components of its devices. In line with that, the technology giant has been trying to make its own 5G modem for a few years now.

There were reports indicating that the Apple iPhone series smartphones launching next year could feature the company’s in-house developed 5G modem. Now, it appears that is not happening anytime soon.

Apple Logo

As per the latest report coming from well-known Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, Apple has failed to make its own in-house 5G modem. He also adds that Qualcomm will remain the exclusive supplier of 5G modem chips for the iPhones.

Qualcomm was expected to ship 20 percent of the 5G modem chips for the 2023 iPhone models but now the semiconductor company is expected to supply 100 percent of chips.

While Apple will keep working on making its own 5G modem, it will take more time to reach the goal and have a satisfactory outcome for the company to be able to use the chips on iPhones as well as other devices from Apple.

Apple acquired the modem chip business of Intel in the year 2019 and has been working on making its own chips to move away from Qualcomm. Apple and Qualcomm also had a major legal battle over licensing fees, which was ultimately settled.

Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G official renders emerge to reveal design from angles, color variants

Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G is likely to debut soon. A hands-on video of its pink variant appeared on social platforms recently. Now, reputed tipster Evan Blass has shared official renders of the unannounced smartphone. The new images not only confirm its color variants, but also give a good look at its design from all angles.

Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G renders

The official images show that the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G’s display will feature a centrally positioned punch-hole. It appears that the device is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint instead of a side-facing fingerprint scanner, which was made available on the predecessor model. The device can be seen sporting a flat edge design.

It appears that the left side of the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G is barren, while its right edge features a volume rocker and a power key. The topside of the device seems to feature a microphone, a speaker grille, and an IR blaster. Its bottom features another speaker grille, a USB-C port, a microphone, and a SIM slot.

The rear shell of the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G features an LED flash-assisted triple camera unit, which is headlined by a 108-megapixel camera. The company’s branding can be seen towards the bottom of the back panel. The images revealed that the smartphone will arrive in green, black, and pink colors.

Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G specifications (rumored)

The Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G will feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED display that produces an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Its front side will have a 16-megapixel selfie camera, whereas its rear panel will have a 108-megapixel main camera with OIS support, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 5-megapixel macro lens.

It is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 778G. It may arrive in two variants, such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The device may pack a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. It will run on the Android 12 OS with the MIUI 13 on top. It is expected to release in Europe and Asia in the coming days.

Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, 12S Ultra global launch seems unlikely, may remain China exclusive

Yesterday, Xiaomi took to its Weibo and Twitter handles to reveal that the Xiaomi 12S series of flagship phones will be unveiled on July 4 in China. The lineup has three phones, namely, the Xiaomi 12S, the Xiaomi 12S Pro, and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. A reliable tipster has claimed that the Xiaomi 12S series will not be released in global markets.

According to Snoopy Tech, the Xiaomi 12S series will remain exclusive to China. When he was asked whether the 12S lineup would debut later in the global markets, he responded by saying that the overseas market would not receive the Xiaomi 12S series at all. He added that instead of the 12S, the global markets will receive the Xiaomi 12T series.

Since the July 4 launch event for the Xiaomi 12S series was tweeted by Xiaomi’s global Twitter handle and by the company’s founder and CEO, Lei Jun, it appeared that the lineup would also debut in markets outside China. It appears that there is no evidence for the existence of the global variants of the 12S, the S12 Pro, and the 12S Ultra.

Recent reports have revealed that the 2206123SC, 2206122SC, 2207122MC, and 2203121C are model numbers of the upcoming Xiaomi 12S, the 12S Pro, the 12S Pro Dimensity chipset variant, and the 12S Ultra. The letter ‘C’ in the model numbers indicates that they are China variants.

Usually, the global variants of Xiaomi devices have the letter “G” instead of the letter “C” in their model numbers. While the Chinese variants have been spotted at Chinese certification sites like CMIIT, 3C, and TENAA, their overseas variants have not been spotted at any of the global certification sites, which suggests that these devices may be released in markets outside China.

Xiaomi fans, not only in China but also in other markets, are eagerly waiting for the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. While it appears that its global variant may not exist, fans may want to wait more to see whether it gets a global release.

HTVRONT Auto Heat Press with auto pressure control to launch soon

HTVRONT has just announced the Auto Heat Press which comes with smart and practical features that make using it a breeze for beginners and experts alike. So, let’s take a look at all of its highlights.

HTVRONT Auto Heat Press

The heat press comes with an inbuilt advanced pressure system, which allows the user to sit back and forget the pressure test as the machine automatically calculates and provides optimal pressure based on the thickness of your material up to 2.5 cm.

HTVRONT Auto Heat Press

The entire 15 x 15-inch heating plate reaches the max temperature of 210°C in less than 6 minutes. For the most commonly used temp of 160°C, it takes less than 4 minutes to heat up, which is almost twice as fast as a typical heat press. It uses the “dual-zone heating engine” and “NTC technology” technology to make sure that the whole surface of the heat press is evenly heated.

HTVRONT has put a lot of thought into making its Auto Heat Press as safe as possible for its users. For this purpose, they have provided a pullout drawer design, multiple layers of thermal insulation, and HTVRONT’s H-Cooling technology, so you don’t have to worry about the heat source hovering over your hands and heat is dissipated in a safer and more controlled way.

HTVRONT Auto Heat Press

The device also features an automatic shutdown feature which switches off the press if it’s not being used for 10 minutes. Lastly, The Auto Heat Press also comes with four presets, making it suitable not just for seasoned users but also for beginners.

The company has announced that the product will soon hit the markets and will be available to purchase via htvront.com, Amazon, eBay, etc. So stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
