OnePlus is planning to launch its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition in China on May 17th next week. And as fans are eager to know the specifications of this upcoming flagship, one of the higher OnePlus executives shared today the display highlights of the company’s next flagship on his social media.
OnePlus CEO (China Market), Mr Louis Li, took to Chinese social media site Weibo today to announce that the company will be launching its next flagship, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition, with a 120Hz LCD display.

In the teaser photo he posted on his profile, it seems that the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition won’t be using your conventional LCD display found on the lower-end smartphone market, the device will be sporting a fast 120Hz LTPS IPS LCD panel that supports variable refresh rates of 6 different frequencies.
Introducing variable refresh rates to these LCD panels, Mr Li claims that the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition will have better battery life numbers and the phone can last longer throughout the day when breaking a sweat. He raises an example of when you’re just viewing a still image on your screen, the phone’s screen will refresh at a slower rate, but it will bump up the refresh rate when you are doing gaming or scrolling through social media like TikTok and WeChat, to ensure that the maximum battery is saved and smoothness is always there when needed.

In addition, the company wants to be the first to produce a flagship with an LTPS LCD display because the company has heard from feedback that several of its fans prefer LCDs over AMOLED displays. Thus with the power of the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 8100 MAX chipset, coupled with a smooth 120Hz display, the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition is aimed at a specific niche of mobile power users who want flagship performance on fast screen for an affordable price.

Ths week is the International Display Week and Chinese display manufacturer BOE Display isn’t letting it slide past without unveiling one of its numerous innovative products. The company has showcased a 95-inch 8K OLED display product.
Although 8K display screens are not among the tp-selling smart TV at the moment, BOE is likely envisioning a proliferation in 8K displays in no distant time. The 8K display has a resolution of up to 7680×4320 pixels. It also comes with a display contrast ratio of 1 million to 1 as well support for a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 99% DCI-P3 wide color gamut.

As global demand for silicon processors continue to surge, TSMC (the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer that accounts for more than 50% of the production of the chipsets found in our smartphones, smart cars and computer of today) has achieved an all-time high record-breaking monthly sales for the company in 2022.
According to a report by Taiwanese news site Focus Taiwan, TSMC has put out a media statement stating the company has witnessed sales earnings of 172.56 billion NTD (5.81 billion USD) in the month of April 2022, setting a new record earnings figure for the company.
For context, TSMC’s previous record earnings were 172.18 billion NTD (5.78 billion USD), which the company had achieved earlier in January of this year. Compared to March 2022, TSMC April 2022 earnings were up by 0.3 percent and compared to April 2021, the company’s earnings grew up by 55 percent.
And from January to April 2022, the company had amassed a total consolidated sales earnings of 663.64 billion NTD (22.29 billion USD) in the first 4 months, which is a 40.1 percent increase over last year.
As for the future of the company, TSMC also forecasted in its statement that it would earn 17.6 billion to 18.2 billion USD in consolidated sales in Q2 2022, and that based on the median sales forecasts, the company’s quarter-on-quarter growth would reach 1.9 percent.
According to TSMC‘s second-quarter sales forecast, industry analysts said the chipmaker was expected to generate 162.7 billion NTD in revenue for May and 175.8 billion NTD for June on average consolidated sales.
Therefore, analysts claim that they did not rule out the possibility that TSMC would report another new sales high for the following two months after April.
TSMC earnings has remained on a positive trend because of strong global demand for tech devices in 2022, and the company is expecting its sales to grow 25 percent to 29 percent from a year earlier. It cited HPC (high processing computing) devices like the Apple Silicon and automotive electronics as the two pillars of the expected sales growth.
And despite the increasingly serious COVID outbreak in Taiwan currently, the chipmaker has also anticipated that its production capacity would still remain fully utilized throughout 2022.
Google has announced the much-expected Pixel Watch. We have been hearing rumors about the Pixel-brand watch for the last 4 years and Google finally made it official at the I/O 2022. The official launch is still months away and the specifications of the watch are yet to be known. However, there’s a report floating around that reveals some interesting and also surprising information regarding the processor of the watch. The report claims that the Pixel Watch will arrive with a 2018 Exynos processor.
9to5Google has learned from its sources that the Google Pixel watch will be using Samsung’s Exynos 9110 chip which was first released 4 years ago. The chip debuted with the Samsung Galaxy Watch in 2018.
Earlier, it was rumoured that the smartwatch would be powered by the Samsung Exynos W920, the same processor that powers the Galaxy Watch 4. This would have given the Pixel Watch an upper edge over its competitors, but it seems like Google chose to self-sabotage itself with a 4-year-old processor from a discontinued watch.
It’s definitely disappointing to know that the much-awaited Pixel watch may not land with top of the shelf processor but Google may counter this with the latest software improvements. The company has revealed that the watch will be running WearOS, which is expected to give a faster and more fluid experience under the fingers.
Moreover, the watch includes Fitbit tech which adds features like Sleep tracking and heart rate monitoring. It also lets you see active zone minutes, and allows you to track your progress against personal fitness goals.
Google will be launching this watch as a flagship device, which means it will be priced in the higher range. But will you buy it after knowing that it may feature an outdated chipset? Let us know what you think in the comments.
Although the PC market has seen a resurgence in sales in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic, this sales growth has seem to be slowing down in 2022. In fact, the well-renowned Taiwanese laptop manufacturer, Asus has boldly claimed that the PC market could witness supply exceeding demand in 2022, and the company has taken the necessary measures to ensure its PC business remains stable in this upcoming trend.
According to a report by ITHome, Asus’ Global APAC Chief Marketing Officer, Mr Rex Lee, warns that the European, Chinese and North American PC market is currently on a downward trend of demand and that if the trend continues on for the remaining months in 2022, the overall PC market in 2022 will witness an oversupply, in which supply from laptop manufacturers will outpace and exceed the demand of the current global PC market.
In the company’s press conference, Asus expressed that to avoid oversupply yet still remain competitive in the global PC market, the company has shifted its PC business strategy to its mid-range premium laptop lines, like its 2022 Zenbook and Vivobook lineup.
The new 2022 Zenbook lineup is aimed at the premium mid-range laptop market where the device is catered to creative professionals who want a high-quality OLED screen with high processing performance at a reasonably affordable price.
The best example is the company’s 2022 Zenbook 14 OLED, which features a 14-inch 2.8K OLED NanoEdge display with support for a 90Hz refresh rate, 16:10 aspect ratio, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and 550-nit brightness.
ASUS ZenBook 14 OLED
The device is then powered by the 12th generation Intel Core i5-1240P or Intel Core i7-1260P processor, coupled with Intel Iris Xe graphics. It also packs in 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of fast PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD storage.
In his closing remarks, Mr Rex Lee, CMO of Asus, mentioned that the company is also shifting its sales focus in 2022 to India, as the country is one of the still steadily growing PC markets in 2022.
This is mainly due to the current PC market downturns in several key global markets for the company. He raises several examples such as the European market in which the current Ukraine Russia war has led to lower PC sales in the region., the Chinese market in which the current lockdowns have stifled the growth of the economy, and the North American market in which current inflation rates has limited the country’s spending.

Sonos has announced its latest compact soundbar and it will sell at $279 when it becomes available on June 7. The Sonos Ray soundbar is designed to boost the audio output from your TV. The $279 price tag of the new Sonos Ray puts it as the cheapest Sonos soundbar on the market. It is also the smallest Sonos soundbar yet.
The Sonos lineup of soundbars is priced from $399, for the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) to $899, for the Sonos Arc. The pretty affordable Sonos Ray is part of the company’s plans to deliver immersive sound options to more consumers. Sonos is leveraging the huge estimated percentage (up to 90%) of TV users who still rely on built-in TV speakers.
The Sonos Ray features tapered edges that make it possible for the soundbar to fit even in tight spaces. A pair of Ray soundbars could also be used as rear speakers for more expansive models like the Sonos Arc or Beam. It can also be fixed vertically to the wall as added support for the bigger soundbars. The size of the Sonos Ray however does not prevent it from delivering a great audio experience. Its bass reflex system uses anti-distortion technology to produce high-quality low-frequency sounds.
The Sonos Ray comes with four drivers including two high-performance tweeters and two elliptical mid-woofers. Although Dolby Atmos technology is lacking in the Sonos Ray, a wide soundstage is still available. Furthermore, the Sonos Ray can be connected to other Sonos soundbars to create a great cinema experience at home. There are several other features in the device like speech enhancement and night mode. Sonos’ proprietary TruePlay technology is used to calibrate its output to its surroundings. The S2 app is available on iOS and Android devices but some of the features are lacking in the Android setting.
The Sonos Ray uses an optical port to connect to the TV, hence it can be used for a wide variety of settings. Sonos is excited about the Ray and it feels it will have a great reception in various markets when it arrives. Global availability details are still lacking for Sonos Ray at this time.

For reasons known to all, HUAWEI is having a hard time manufacturing and marketing its flagship phones. As a result, HONOR broke away from HUAWEI and became an independent brand. This Magic4 Pro is also the first HONOR phone we have reviewed since HONOR became independent. How far can the reborn HONOR Magic4 Pro go, let’s take a look.
The design of Magic4 Pro is familiar to us. As with its predecessor, the camera module is centered in a circle, a design HONOR calls “Eye of Muse”. This symmetrical design is very different from other phones, so you can tell at a glance that you are using a HONOR flagship and not another brand of phone. The Magic 4 Pro we got is cyan, and the glass back panel looks great in the light, just like ceramic. Of course, to keep it beautiful, you have to wipe it very often. The top and bottom bezels are flat, the SIM card slot is at the bottom and supports 2 SIM cards. There is IR emitter, NFC, stereo speakers, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, IP68, but no headphone jack. However, the Google Mobile Services you care about is available on this HONOR device. It has all the features it should have, and the design is very special, I think Magic4 Pro is doing what a flagship phone should do.
HONOR Magic4 Pro Review: Display
Magic4 Pro uses a 6.8-inch Quad-Curved Display. Although the resolution does not reach WQHD+, it is sharper than the FHD+ of other phones. While it is not a screen supplied by Samsung, its performance is comparable to Samsung’s panel. Some aspects are even better than what Samsung has done. You may not have noticed that very few phones that support LTPO 2.0 this year have the option of DC dimming. Most phones with low-frequency PWM dimming at low brightness will make people with sensitive eyes feel uncomfortable. But Magic4 Pro‘s screen supports 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, which will not make the display worse like DC dimming, but also more eye protection than low-frequency PWM dimming. The side view color cast is also better controlled than the E5 screen with Micro-Lens technology, and the Magic4 Pro has a MEMC chip that can interpolate frames for video, but not for gaming. If I had to pick a downside, I’d like to see the Magic4 Pro with a smaller curved screen, because the larger the curved area, the more serious the problem of black and green edges will be.
HONOR Magic4 Pro Review: Performance & Gaming
Maybe the product is planned earlier, Magic4 Pro’s processor is Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Because they were all using Kirin processors before, how good is HONOR’s tuning of Snapdragon’s flagship processor, let’s take a look. From the results of each benchmark, they are at least doing the same level as the 8 Gen 1 of other brands, no one data is particularly low.
What about gaming, PUBG is a piece of cake for flagship phones, Genshin’s performance is interesting. Looking at this frame rate curve, the first half of the game is very good, almost perfect. But the second half of the game is locked at 30fps most of the time, and the lowest frame rate is 15fps, which means HONOR is capable of playing to the full strength of 8 Gen 1, but there is still room for improvement. Hopefully, the performance and temperature will be balanced in subsequent updates.
HONOR Magic4 Pro Review: Camera
When we see the huge camera module, we know that the Magic4 Pro’s forte is taking pictures. Indeed, it has a luxurious camera setup. But two of the five lenses are secondary lenses, and only one main camera, the ultra-wide camera and the 3.5x telephoto camera, it can really take pictures on its own.
What impresses me most about the Magic4 Pro’s camera is its powerful image algorithm. The scene you see in the preview screen may not be pretty enough, but once you press the shutter and then quickly go to the album, you can see the magic happen. A bland photo is transformed into a stunning photo. I finally understand why the Magic4 Pro got that name. Whether it’s the ultra-wide-angle camera or the main camera, this magical algorithm gives the photo a huge improvement. This amazing algorithm will also appear on telephoto cameras. This 3.5x telephoto camera is surprisingly powerful. Even if you zoom in to 5 times or 10 times, you can still get a good picture through the algorithm.
Even at 16x zoom, you will still be able to recognize the phone number written on the elevator. You can also get good pictures even at night when the light is low. Well, this algorithm for optimizing photos only works well for more regular graphics, if there is not enough light plus the subject is irregular, then the algorithm will not work as well. The main camera is without OIS, and you may wonder how badly it will perform at night. In fact, it performed well at night, with almost no problems with shaky hands. Overall, I am very satisfied with the Magic4 Pro’s camera performance, especially its 3.5x telephoto camera, which is comparable to a 5x or 10x optical telephoto camera through its algorithm. I think this is the most correct direction for mobile photography.

The recording has also improved a lot with support for switching lenses in 4k 30fps recording. Stability and dynamic range are good. But what surprised me more is the front camera, because it uses an ultra-wide-angle lens, so you are able to take selfies with different focal lengths. And because of the 3D TOF lens, the background bokeh effect is good. This super wide-angle camera is more suitable for video recording, and supports EIS and 4k 30fps with excellent dynamic range. I’m sure magic4 pro is definitely an excellent vlog machine.
HONOR Magic4 Pro Review: Charging
Magic4 Pro supports 100w wired charging. The charger also supports up to 100w output power. It also supports 50w wireless charging. Wired charging takes 15 minutes to charge up to 60% and takes 30 minutes to fill. The Magic4 Pro’s battery capacity is 4600mAh, which is not huge, but it is enough. Although it is a little difficult to go a full day without charging, other 8 Gen 1 phones are at about the same level, so don’t expect the Magic4 Pro’s battery life to be as impressive.
Battery stats
To sum up, Magic4 Pro is actually not HONOR’s powerful flagship phone this year, it’s just a sub-flagship. But this sub-flagship phone does what many flagship phones can do. For example, the superb level of photography, the screen also has some bright spots.
And there are no obvious drawbacks, and GMS can be used normally. If you don’t want to buy an expensive flagship phone, then this cheaper HONOR sub-flagship phone might be more suitable for those of you who like to take pictures.

Xiaomi recently tease an upcoming product that looks like a cordless vacuum cleaner. Turns out the product has been launched and the mane translates as MIJIA Wireless Washing Machine but is actually a Cordless vacuum cleaner. The floor cleaning gadget looks like a miniature tank. The gadget sweeps, scrubs, and mops the floor, all at once. The wireless device will be on pre-sale for 1999 yuan (~$294), thereafter the price will increase to 2499 yuan (~$367).
The MIJIA Wireless washing machine is different from most floor scrubbers. It adopts an innovative crawler-type roller brush with a front-covered wiping method. The contact area with the ground is 3 times higher than that of a cylindrical roller brush. When the crawler roller brushes move forward, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning the roller brushes can be carried out at the same time, making it possible to perform the three tasks all at once.
Thanks to the tracked design, the roller brush has a longer circumference, making it difficult for pet hair and even hair up to 25cm to get tangled on the roller brush. In the automatic mode, it can also intelligently detect the degree of dirt and automatically adjust the suction and water output, which is very convenient.
Furthermore, the MIJIA Cordless vacuum cleaner adopts the Superplana reclining technology which includes built-in water and air separation fan that can penetrate into low spaces as low as 12cm.
The cordless vacuum cleaner can automatically start charging when it returns to the cleaning base. Users can also start the deep self-cleaning program with one key, and intelligently adjust the number of cleanings according to the dirt without using their hands.
