Several reports have revealed that the OPPO Reno 8 will be announced this month in May. Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the names of the chipsets that will be powering the three Reno 8 series smartphones. He also talked about important details about the design language of the Reno 8 line.
OPPO Reno 8 SE, Reno 8, and Reno 8 Pro
It appears that the Reno 8 lineup will have three models: the Reno 8 SE, Reno 8, and Reno 8 Pro. One of the recent Weibo posts by DCS revealed that these phones could be powered by the Dimensity 1300, the upcoming Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, and Dimensity 8100, respectively.

The Reno 8 Pro’s Dimensity 8100 chip will be coupled with the MariSilicon X NPU. However, the other specs of the Pro model are under wraps. Speculations are rife that the Reno 8 will be arriving with a 6.5-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz screen, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, Android 12 OS with ColorOS UI, and a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. It will feature a 50-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro/depth) triple camera unit. There is no information on the specs of the Reno 8 SE.
OPPO Reno 8 series design
According to the tipster, the display of the Reno 8 series will have a top-left / center single punch-hole design. This indicates that the Pro model may feature a centrally aligned punch-hole. The rear side of the Reno 8 lineup will sport a design similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro. Shown above is a Reno 8 render that the tipster shared last month.
The Reno 8 series is expected to be released in global markets in June. The lineup is likely to include the Reno 8 Lite, Reno 8, and Reno 8 Pro. The Lite model appears to be a rebranded version of the OPPO F21 Pro 5G / Reno 7 Lite 5G / Reno7 Z 5G / OnePlus N20 5G. It remains to be seen whether the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro that will be released in China are the same ones that will be released in other markets.
