Google Pixel Fold to launch later this year, as per new leak

Google’s first foldable phone has been rumored to be under development for years now. First tipped by a blogger back in 2019, the phone that now has a name – Google Pixel Fold – has inched closer to an actual launch than ever before.

A fresh new leak from David Naranjo (via: GSMArena), Senior Director at Display Supply Chain Consultants, has revealed a possible Q4 2021 launch date for the Google Pixel Fold. It also suggests that the device will use an LTPO OLED display.

Based on previous leaks that showed the device’s blueprint, one can assume that it will be sporting a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold series – an outward folding design with a cylindrical hinge at the center. However, the leak was from a patent that was filed back in July 2020. Patents are only potential designs and are thus not to be taken as an indication for the final product.

Further, there was also a leaked list from earlier this year that mentioned a GPQ72 model number and a “Passport” codename, which was touted by many as being none other than the Google Pixel Fold. After all, the Passport codename for a foldable device does make sense. On top of that, a more recent report coming from Korea had claimed that Samsung will be supplying its ultra-thin glass (UTG) to Google for the Pixel Fold.

Last but not the least, a patent application from Google showed us that the company is working on an under-screen camera. This is rumored to debut in the foldable phone.

Google is expected to launch its Pixel 6 series on October 19, after releasing Android 12 stable, and has already shown what the devices will look like. However, there hasn’t been any announcement concerning a foldable device, leading some to believe that it could be announced at the Pixel 6 event.

Meizu is gearing up for a new product launch conference which is set for September 22. During this event, the company will launch its flagship Meizu 18s, 18X, and 18 Pro smartphones along with other peripheral products and accessories. Now, the brand has teased some of these peripherals, which includes a new mechanical keyboard that is a part of a new collaboration.

The Chinese smartphone maker shared a new image poster that showcased its first co branded custom mechanical keyboard. The new keyboard arrives under the PANDAER X IQUNIX partnership. For those unaware, PANDAER is a subsidiary of Meizu with a Panda being a part of its brand logo. This sub brand is known for launching various types of peripheral products.

Now, the new collaboration brings together a limited edition custom mechanical keyboard that features a panda on the ‘Escape’ key, which is colored yellow. Furthermore, the same design is reflected in the ‘Space bar’ key as well, which also features the word “Rebuilding” etched on it. This keyboard will also be unveiled during the September 22 event.

Notably, apart from teasing the upcoming keyboard the brand also announced earlier today (17th September 2021) that its PANDAER “Dragon” series of smartphone case has just been released. The phone cover is currently available on the PANDAER member store, Meizu Mall, and other known e-retail websites. It features a transparent PC materials, which is translucent with a purple accent and printed with blacj and white comic sketches. The case is available for the Meizu 17, 17 Pro, 18, and 18 Pro models and is priced at 69 Yuan (roughly 11 US Dollars).

Meizu has scheduled a launch event for September 22 in China. The company is expected to announce a number of smartphones and much more. Ahead of that, the firm’s recently resurrected mblu has launched a new pair of truly wireless earphones called mblu Blus. Interestingly, this new product does not come under mblu’s own sub-brand lifeme.

Unlike most TWS in the market, the Meizu mblu Blus features a unique design. However, we can still say that the buds resemble Apple AirPods Pro, while the charging case looks similar to the case of the newer Galaxy Buds models.

The earbuds feature 12mm drivers and connect via Bluetooth 5.2 (quick pairing with Meizu smartphones). These IPX4-rated buds come with support for touch gestures controls and up to 30dB ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

The buds house a 43mAh battery each, whereas the charging case includes a 520mAh battery. Without ANC, the overall endurance for this product is rated at 30 hours as compared to 25 hours with ANC.

The buds themselves last for up to 6 and a half hours on a full charge with noise cancellation turned off. When ANC is activated, the battery life of the buds drops by an hour to 5 and a half hours. When out of juice, users can charge this audio accessory either wirelessly (Qi) or wired (USB Type-C).

Last but not least, Meizu mblu Blus bears model number GB8898-2001, comes in a single white color option, and ships with three different-sized ear tips.

5K renders of an upcoming Samsung tablet has just surfaced. The tablet in question is the 2021 version of the Galaxy Tab A8, with the renders offering us a first look at its design and a report revealing key specifications of the device.

The render and specs leak arrive from 91Mobiles and @OnLeaks. In the report, we can observe high quality 5K renders and a 360 degree video of the upcoming Galaxy Tab A8. In other words, we have a complete and clear view of the tablet’s design. The images reveal that the 2021 Galaxy Tab A8 is similar in design to its predecessor, with noticeable bezels on all sides of the display and a single camera on the rear.

Looking at the design, the top sports two speaker grills along with a microphone, while the right side houses the volume rockers and fingerprint scanner. Similarly, the bottom also houses two speaker grills and a microphone alongside the USB Type C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apart from the camera on the rear, the back panel features the brand’s logo in the center.

Furthermore, OnLeaks shared the key specifications of the tablet, which sports a 10.4 inch display that is expected to offer Full HD+ screen resolution. The lone rear camera is an 8 megapixel sensor and a quad speaker system that will reportedly support Dolby Atmos as well. Unfortunately, finer details regarding this tablet like its pricing and launch date is still unknown, but the South Korean tech giant is expected to launch the Tab A8 2021 in an LTE version and a WiFi only variant as well.

A new report has revealed that Oppo has recently been laying off staff. The information arrives after its merger with OnePlus, which might affect both firms including the joint software updates as the company even downsized its ColorOS team.

According to a Bloomberg report (Via 9To5Google), people close to the matter revealed that the Chinese smartphone maker had to cut its staff by 20 percent following its merger with OnePlus. Notably, the lay offs included the department team working on ColorOS software as well as other “device teams”. So while the merger was meant to streamline software updates by building OxygenOS on top of ColorOS, the downsizing might affect their original plans.

Although, it is unknown how exactly this would affect the company’s ColorOS development overall since the brand reportedly cut redundant positions. The Bloomberg report added that the company is currently struggling with chip shortages along with “economic shocks” caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, Oppo had moved to aggressively expand and even compete with Apple in the premium market segment, but this is what led to the creation of the the aforementioned redundant positions.

Apart from the ColorOS team, the brand had to cut staff in other departments as well. This includes its IoT (internet of things) division and some parts of smartwatches and earbuds teams. At the moment, the impacts of these lay offs have yet to be felt as the company has just released its first details of its ColorOS skin based on Android 12 operating system that will roll out in October 2021.

Xiaomi has partnered with Elliptic Labs and created an AI Virtual Proximity Sensor INNER BEAUTY® that has been featured on the new Xiaomi 11T smartphone.

The sensor essentially makes use of the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform that helps enable software-only sensor solutions that either replace or augment existing hardware sensors. In other words, it outdoes the need for a dedicated hardware proximity sensor on devices like the Xiaomi 11T series. This lowers costs with fewer supply-chain constraints.

The partnership isn’t something new as Xiaomi has relied on Elliptic Labs since 2016. There were earlier reports pointing towards Xiaomi ending its partnership with Elliptic Labs, in light of a slew of complaints about proximity sensor issues on newer Xiaomi and Poco devices.

However, the AI software company has now clarified that Xiaomi continues to use its solutions in more smartphones. From this, it is safe to assume that the partnership will likely continue.

“Elliptic Labs’ partnership with Xiaomi is solid, and we’re pleased that they continue to use us in more smartphones as they have grown into the second-largest smartphone OEM in the world,” said Laila Danielsen, CEO of Elliptic Labs. “The AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform allows manufacturers to introduce new features, while omitting hardware-based sensors, reducing cost and eliminating sourcing risk. The Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro were unveiled on Wednesday. The handsets succeed the Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro from last year. They come with top-tier specs such as 120W charging, Dolby Vision, and a 108MP triple camera setup. The smartphones are IP53 rated and come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Both come with a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) capable of displaying over 1 billion colors at a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate. This is paired with an ultra-responsive 480Hz touch sampling.

Infinix has launched two new budget smartphones in India. These devices are called Infinix HOT 11 and Ininix HOT 11S. As their names suggest, they are the successors of Infinix HOT 10 and Infinix HOT 10S respectively. Let’s take a look at what the new phones from the Transsion brand have to offer.

The newly announced Infinix HOT 11 and Ininfix HOT 11S arrive with a new design when compared to their predecessors. The two phones even look different from one another. The vanilla model looks like an OPPO Reno, while the S variant resembles a HUAWEI nova.

On the front, the HOT 11 flaunts a 6.6-inch LCD panel with an FHD+ resolution and a dewdrop notch. Whereas, the HOT 11s sports a slightly larger 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and a punch-hole.

Under the hood, the HOT 11 houses a MediaTek Helio G70 chipset, while a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC runs the HOT 11S. Both the handsets come with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage with support for MicroSD card expansion. The company could introduce more storage configurations in the future.

Talking about optics, the HOT 11 has a 13MP (wide) + 2MP (depth) dual-camera setup, whereas the HOT 11S sports a 50MP (wide) + 2MP (depth) + AI triple camera setup. For selfies and video calls, both use an 8MP sensor.

The duo also arrives with dual stereo speakers with support for DTS Surround Sound, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and XOS 7.6 based on Android 11.

Lastly, the HOT 11 is backed by a 5,200mAh battery as opposed to a smaller 5,000mAh battery inside the HOT 11S. However, the latter has support for 18W fast charging.

New rumors regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series have surfaced again. This time revealing certain key information regarding the high end variant, Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.

The latest rumor arrives from known tipster Ice Universe. In a recent tweet, Ice Universe shared the size of the display along with the screen resolution and battery capacity of the upcoming Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. Reportedly, the top end model will sport a massive 14.6 inch display that has a 2960×1848px resolution and a whopping 11,500mAh battery pack that runs the tablet. Notably, the display size and battery size is in line with previous reports that we had covered earlier this year.

Furthermore, the resolution and display size implies that the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra will feature pixel density of 240 PPI. This is only slightly lower than the previously launched Galaxy Tab S7+ that has a 266 PPI. The panel on the Tab S8 Ultra is an OLED display, although, the base Tab S8 will feature a TFT panel. On the other hand, the Tab S8+ will also sport an OLED panel while every model is expected to feature support for 120Hz high refresh rate.

A silicon case has revealed that the iPhone 13 Pro easily has the largest camera module any iPhone has ever had. This makes sense considering that the iPhone model features significantly improved camera performance this year.

Fitting the iPhone 13 Pro case on an iPhone 12 Pro gives us an idea of how massive the difference is. Based on the image shared by Apple Insider, as seen above, it is safe to assume that the iPhone 13 Pro will be featuring a camera bump that’s larger by a third. This is amusing considering that the notch’s size on the front has been reduced by a third as well.

Announced this Tuesday, the iPhone 13 Pro packs in a number of camera upgrades. The primary camera has gotten a larger new sensor with a wider f/1.5 aperture for a 2.2x improvement in low light shots.

The ultra-wide sensor has seen some upgrades as well and now has an f/1.8 aperture. This is much larger than the iPhone 12 Pro’s f/2.4 equivalent. Lastly, the 12MP telephoto lens has gotten a boost from a 2x optical zoom on the iPhone 12 Pro to a 3x optical zoom on the iPhone 13 Pro.

There are no crazy megapixel counts on any of the sensors this year too as all the cameras on the Apple iPhone 13 Pro have 12MP sensors, including the selfie shooter, just like its predecessor.

Still, the camera upgrades are significant enough to justify a much larger camera module. Further, the depth of the overall camera package has likely been increased as well causing it to protrude more than ever before.

This is likely because of a new sensor-shift stabilization tech on the wide-angle shooter made possible by stacking two sensors diagonally instead of their usual vertical layout.

The iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999 and pre-orders for the new iPhone models will commence Friday (today) at 5:00 AM Pacific Time, following by an official launch on September 24. Initial shipments of first-party iPhone 13 series accessories will be arriving ahead of a start to pre-orders on Friday.

Nio, the China-based smart electric car maker, has started selling its ES8 SUV in Norway and is gearing up to launch another model in Germany. The Chinese company has confirmed that its new ET7 will be available in the German market in late 2022.

The Nio ET7 car has entered trial production at the company’s Hefei plant as the firm is set to start deliveries in China in early 2022. William Li, Chairman of Nio, said that the “very high” interest from German customers prompted the firm to commit to a European roll-out.

Along with announcing the launch of ET7 in Europe, Nio is also considering building its electric vehicles in Europe. Li said, “I believe if we have a lot of sales in the European market, we can also explore the other possibilities to work with other supply chain partners. I understand that in Europe, there is manufacturing capacity. We can also explore the possibility to work together with other OEMs and discuss joint manufacturing.”

While the company has not yet revealed any potential production partners but Lotus Technology could be on the list. After investment from Nio, Lotus Technology said that the partnership could pave the way for both companies to “explore opportunities for mutually beneficial industrial co-operation”.

The Nio ET7, unveiled in January this year, is claimed to offer a maximum range of 620 miles (on the Chinese NEDC cycle) from its largest, 150kWh battery and a twin-motor powertrain pumping out 644bhp and 627lb-ft for a 0-62mph time of 3.9sec.

It also features a raft of advanced driver assistance features that, the company says, enables autonomous driving. ET7 is available for pre-order in China and will be arriving in the German market in the last quarter of 2022. The 70 kWh version of ET7 is expected to have a price tag between €59,000-69,000.

The company had previously suggested that it could soon launch its cars in the United Kingdom but there’s no timeline for it yet.

iQOO is gradually revealing the key features of the upcoming iQOO Z5. Today, the company took to its Weibo handle to confirm the battery capacity of the smartphone.

As the poster reveals, the iQOO Z5 will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The image also mentions that the large battery will offer 96 hours of music listening, 18.3 hours of video playback, and 10.4 hours of gaming. The 3C certification of the smartphone suggested that it may ship with a 44W fast charger.

Yesterday, the company confirmed that the iQOO Z5 features a punch-hole display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, a DCI-P3 color gamut, and HDR10. Rumors have it that the device is fitted with an LCD panel. For security, it features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Snapdragon 778G chipset will be fueling the device with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It is likely that smartphone may come with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of storage.

The Z5 will come preinstalled with iQOO UI based Android 11 OS. The smartphone is likely to sport a 64-megapixel triple camera unit and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. It will come equipped with dual stereo speakers that will carry support for Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless. At present, there is no word on the pricing of the device.

iQOO will be announcing the iQOO Z5 on Sept. 23 in China. The lineup also includes Z5 Pro and Z5x, but there is no word on whether these phones will debut alongside the Z5.

Both the companies will now work together to develop ground-breaking AI and end devices and create forward-looking technology strategies.

The Chinese company says that the goal is to ultimately support Honor’s “1+8+N” strategy worldwide. Apart from this, the Chinese brand has announced Honor MagicBook V 14 as one of the world’s first laptops to come pre-installed with Windows 11 operating system.

Honor had introduced its “1+8+N” all-scenario strategy to develop products by focusing on AI and smartphones as the core of the platform, while developing other connected products such as notebooks, smart screens, tablets, wearables, TW Stereo headphones, and routers.

The company will integrate Microsoft’s cloud computing and AI technology into its product and services such as its YOYO intelligent assistant, collaboration tools, AI travel assistant, utilities, and translation services.

Microsoft was among the first group of suppliers that cooperated with Honor after the company became fully independent. Honor has been using Windows 10 as its official global operating system for its computers.

The Honor MagicBook V 14 will be officially launched at the Honor Smart Life Product Launch event scheduled on 26th September. The company has also said that it is capable of maximizing the potential of Windows 11 with its advanced capabilities in software and hardware integration.

Samsung has taken the charge of making foldable smartphones mainstream and has already launched several models in the market. The latest devices from the South Korean giant with foldable screens include the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3.

Now, an upcoming foldable smartphone from Samsung, dubbed as Samsung W22 5G which is exclusive for the Chinese market, has leaked online. As the name indicates, the phone will be unveiled as a successor to the Samsung W21 5G launched last year.

The Samsung W22 5G is said to be based on the Galaxy Z Fold3 smartphone but the device is expected to come with a slightly modified design or even different dimensions. Its predecessor, the W21 5G also had a bit different design compared to the Galaxy Z Fold2.

From the leaked image, it’s evident that the upcoming China-exclusive foldable smartphone from Samsung features an under-display camera (UDC) technology and new wallpaper. As of now, nothing much is known about this new product. It is also not known if the device will come with support for the S-Pen stylus.

The Samsung W21 5G launched in China last year was priced 50 percent more than the international version of Galaxy Z Fold 2, so there’s a possibility that the upcoming W22 5G could be priced a lot more than the Galaxy Z Fold3 smartphone.

Given that the phone’s image has already leaked online, we expect to get more details about the Samsung W22 5G in the coming days or weeks as well as the phone’s pricing and availability details. If we are to speculate, then we expect the smartphone to go official by the end of this year.

A couple of days ago, Realme launched its latest wearable device in the form of Realme Band 2 in Malaysia. Now, the company is gearing up to launch this new smart wearable product in its biggest market — India.

The Realme Band 2 will be officially launched in the Indian market on 24th September at 12:30 PM local time. At the same event, the company will also be launching the Realme Narzo 50 series smartphones as well as Realme Smart TV Neo.

The upcoming smart fitness band has been listed on Flipkart which means that the device could be exclusively available for purchase in the Indian market via Flipkart along with Realme’s own online store.

The Realme Band 2 features a 1.4 inch TFT LCD colored display that offers a maximum brightness of 500 nits. Compared to its predecessor, the screen is larger. It also comes with several features aimed at health and fitness.

It comes with a SpO2 blood oxygen sensor, a sleep monitoring sensor, and the heart rate sensor. There are 90 workout modes available on the device, including walking, running, cycling, swimming, and many more.

The new smart band is also water-resistant up to 50 meters and comes with 50 watch faces as well. Under the hood, it’s powered by a 204mAh battery which the company claims can offer up to 12 days of battery life over the 10 days on the original Band.

As noted, the device has already been launched in Malaysia, where it costs 139 Malaysian Ringgit (approximately $34). In India, the original Realme Band was launched for ₹2,999 (~$41) but is currently available for ₹1,499 (~$20). As for the upcoming Realme Band 2, we expect the pricing to be somewhere between ₹2,999 and ₹3,499.

From customer base to chipset stock, Huawei is on a spree of losing all of them. The controversy is giving Huawei a tough time, as it has almost run out of its 5G chipsets after the U.S. imposed sanctions on Kirin chipsets from TSMC. This has not only halted Huawei’s progress in the 5G smartphone domain, but may also make future expansion hard for the tech giant. Huawei is on a hunt to bring onboard new players and if rumors are anything to go by, Huawei would re-launch smartphones with 5G this time.

After Huawei got banned for further conducting business with American companies, it started to explore alternative sources to keep the business alive. However, some Huawei Mate 40E units are still reportedly using American communication chips, possibly the ones acquired before the ban.

The Mate 40E was released in China in March and is now out of the stock for the majority of the time. What is more surprising is that the Huawei P50 series was launched with 4G where its predecessors enjoy 5G. All because Huawei is struggling to procure components in this U.S. and Japanese hegemony.

But it looks like Huawei may finally have a solution if the rumors are to be believed. A person who claims to be a Huawei employee states that Huawei would re-launch devices with 5G. This, if true, should bring joy to both the company and its users. The only way forward is by finding new sources, which is not going to be an easy task for Huawei. Note that this is just a rumor at this point so take it with a pinch of salt.

Nokia T20 tablet receives CQC certification, launch seems imminent

Recent reports have revealed that Nokia is working on a new tablet called the Nokia T20. The tablet was previously spotted with model numbers TA-1392 and TA-1397 on retailer sites from UAE and the UK. These model numbers were spotted at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) certification site in July. Now, the aforementioned models along with another variant TA-1394 have received approval from China Quality Certification (CQC) platform. The CQC certification is yet another hint that it may not take too long for the tablet to go official.

The CQC listing reveals that the alleged Nokia T20 will carry support for 10W fast charging. Reports have revealed that the tablet will be equipped with a Unisoc processor, which includes the Mali-G52 GPU. This indicates that the device will be powered by Unisoc T618 or Unisoc T700 chipset.

The Nokia T20 tablet is expected to arrive with a 10.36inch display and it will come preinstalled with Android 11 OS. The device may offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

The upcoming Nokia tablet is likely to arrive in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 4G variants. The former may cost around £190, whereas the latter could be priced at around £207. It may come only in Blue color.

In related news, a new Nokia phone with a TA-1399 model number has also received CQC certification. Its CQC listing reveals that it may also ship with an 18W charger. The identity of this device is under wraps. The Nokia G50 5G smartphone was spotted with full specs and images at TENAA certification earlier this month. Hence, it appears that that the Nokia T20 tablet, TA-1399 Nokia phone, and Nokia G50 5G may go official soon in China.

Microsoft makes more spare parts available for repairing Surface devices

Microsoft is expanding the support for repairing its PCs and in the latest move, the Redmond-based technology giant is making it easier for technicians to repair PC by offering more parts of Surface devices.

From next month, commercial customers will be able to purchase a wide range of spare parts from Microsoft and the organizations will be able to order spare parts through authorized Surface device resellers.

Making the announcement, Microsoft said, “We have a longstanding commitment to maximize product life, minimize waste, use more renewable resources, and improve the modularity, reparability, and recyclability of our devices—including our packaging.”

The company added that it is working with industry partners to make available more repair options that ensure the quality of repairs, safeguard consumer’s privacy and security, and help protect consumers from injury.

Microsoft Surface devices are pretty difficult to repair but the company seems to be responding to the user complaints and is improving the repairability of its devices. For instance, the Surface Laptop 3 has a repairability score of 5/10 by iFixit which is a significant improvement over Surface Laptop and Surface Pro 7, which scored 0 and 1 points out of 10, respectively.

With the expansion of available spare parts, it will be a bit easier to repair the Surface devices. Microsoft adds that previously released spare parts are only available in the United States. The company also recommends that skilled IT technicians perform any repairs on the company’s devices, which makes sense, given the difficulties involved in the process.

GoPro took note of all inconvenience factors in the GoPro HERO9 and announced the next generation as GoPro HERO10 Black, rectifying and adding all that it lacked in the previous versions. The new action camera equips a new processor, allowing users to shoot videos in higher frame rates, enjoy better stabilization, and the ability to automatically upload videos to the cloud while charging. On top of that, it makes the GoPro HERO10 black an absolute stunner with a fluid and responsive experience.

Highlights

The new GP2 Processor allows HERO10 to double its existing frame rate on HERO9 and go as high as 5.3K at 60 frames per second. It is also capable of shooting at 4K 120fps, and 2.7K 240fps, breaching the previous limit of shooting at 1080 resolutions. The HERO10 Black can be used to shoot 23MP photos, and can even pull up to 19.6MP frame grabs from a 5K video.

GoPro now has a new HyperSmooth 4.0 stabilization feature, which can operate at higher resolution and frame rate combinations than before. The GP2 chip removes noise and allows local tone mapping in videos, making it a delight to use in low-lit environments. There’s an additional hydrophobic coating for the lens cover, less scratch-prone, and support for a wired connection for offloading content faster to the phone.

Among the new additions is the “horizon leveling” feature, where the camera tries to keep the horizon as a straight line, lets it tilt up to 45 degrees before the sky starts moving, which is a big improvement over the 27 degrees on the HERO9. However, it comes at the cost of resolutions and frame rates, as it limits them to 4k 60fps or 2.7k 120 fps.

Subscription

Apparently, the feature of uploading videos directly to the cloud while charging is what makes it more of a smartphone than just a regular camera. However, it is only functional with a GoPro subscription, which is $5 a month or $50 a year. The subscription saves you an additional $100 off the camera, bringing its price of $499 down to $399. An added bonus is access to GoPro’s damaged camera replacement program.

It is equally easier for users without a subscription to transfer data to the smartphone as GoPro says the new processor makes wireless transfers to its app 30% faster. There’s an additional option of using a cable to further expedite the data offloading process.

Hisense announces world’s first Rollable Screen Laser TV; to be available this year

Hisense, the China-based company known for making TVs, has now announced the world’s first rollable screen laser TV. The announcement was made by the company at the 3rd Global Laser Display Technology and Industry Development Forum.

While unveiling the new TV, Yu Zhitao, Vice President of Hisense Group Holding Company, said: “Laser display is actually a set of space solutions. Hisense’s world’s first rollable screen laser TV is just the beginning.”

This new Hisense Laser TV with a rollable screen features a big 77-inch display panel and is powered by the company’s own rolling or curled screen technology and full-color laser technology. It supports 4K ultra-high HDR resolution, 107% BT.2020 ultra-wide color gamut, and 350nits of peak brightness.

In terms of design, there are virtually no bezels on the side of the screen but there’s a bezel on the top and a thicker bezel at the bottom. So far, Hisense has applied for more than 70 patents related to this curling screen laser TV.

It features Transvision visual engine and Harmon Kardon speakers for a theatre-grade audio experience. So, the company says that when the screen is rolled out, it gives a theatre-like experience and when it’s rolled down, it acts like an opera house.

The product is built using aviation-grade high-tech materials and meets the flexibility requirements of curling as well as the stiffness requirements for flatness at the same time. The theatre-grade audio, tuned by the Harmon Cardon Golden Ear team, comes with support for Dolby sound effects DTS dual decoding.

Currently, this new Hisense Rollable Screen Laser TV is available for booking on JD.com but the company has not yet revealed its pricing or availability details. If you are interested, then the product can be booked for just 1 yuan. Based on the previous announcement from the company, it’s likely that the device will go on sale later this year.

OPPO is expected to soon launch the OPPO K9 Pro smartphone in China. As the moniker suggests, it will be an enhanced version of the OPPO K9, which debuted a few months ago in the home market. Now, the K9 Pro has appeared on Geekbench (via. Pricebaba) to reveal its chipset and RAM.

Recent reports have revealed that the OPPO phone with PEYM00 model number that was certified by China’s TENAA agency recently will be debuting as the OPPO K9 Pro. The same model number has now emerged on the Geekbench 5 benchmarking site.

The listing reveals that the OPPO K9 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s MT6893Z/CZA processor that includes four CPU cores working at 2GHz, three CPU cores clocking at 2.60GHz, and a prime core ticking at 3GHz. It can be deduced from the configurations of the chipset that the OPPO K9 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 1200 chipset. To recollect, the K9 featured the Snapdragon 768G chipset.

The K9 Pro’s Geekbench listing shows that it has 12 GB of RAM and Android 11 OS. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the smartphone scored 819 and 2494 points, respectively.

OPPO K9 Pro specifications

The OPPO K9 Pro features a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution, a high refresh rate, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. The Dimensity 1200 powered phone is expected to arrive with 8 GB / 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of storage.

The handset has a 4,500mAh battery, which seemingly supports 65W fast charging. For photography, it has a 16-megapixel selfie camera, and a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple rear cameras. It will come in three colors such as Glacier Overture, Obsidian Warrior, and Neo Silver Sea. It is likely to go on sale starting from Sept. 24 in China.
