Samsung has just recently launched the new Galaxy Watch 4 series and Galaxy Buds 2 TWS earbuds alongside its two new foldable smartphones. While the company initially released the new products in the US and UK, it has now revealed pricing details and availability for the Indian market as well.

The new Galaxy Watch 4 series will be available in India for pre orders starting from August 30 on major online and offline stores. Meanwhile, the latest smartwatch from the South Korean tech giant will officially go on sale starting from 10th September 2021. The base Galaxy Watch 4 will be available in multiple color variants including Pink Gold, Black, and Silver for the 40mm model and Black, Green, and Silver for the 44mm model. On the other hand, the Class variant will arrive in just two colors, namely Black and Silver. So here are the pricing for the two models:

The new earphones will also be available for pre orders on August 30, with its first sales starting from September 10 as well. Pre booking the new earbuds will have users receive an e voucher worth 3,000 INR along with cashback options worth 1,200 INR (roughly $16) from select banks.

Google is scheduled to release Android 12 Stable in September. Smartphone makers are also expected to unveil their version of the latest Android at around the same time. Samsung is the only major Android OEM not participating in the official Android 12 Beta program. It’s not new as the South Korean tech giant has never joined hands with Google in this regard. However, the company is known for running its own beta program for its mobile software like any other OEM.

Late last month, Samsung officially teased the arrival of One UI 4.0 beta based on Android 12 for the Galaxy S21 series. A tipster even revealed that the beta initiative might kick off by late August. Unfortunately, there has been not a single from the company regarding it so far.

On the bright side, a Galaxy S21 Ultra has been spotted running Android 12 on Geekbench. Likewise, Samsung has updated its One Hand Operation+ app to add support for Android 12.

This clearly suggests that Android 12-based One UI 4.0 beta builds are ready and are being tested by Samsung. It’s only a matter of time the firm starts recruiting public beta testers.

iQOO announces INR 500,000 All Star Cup Tournament for BGMI

iQOO has just announced a new tournament for Battlegrounds Mobile India. The new All Stars Cup for the popular mobile game will be held in partnership with Krafton and Esports XO and will feature a price pool of 500,000 INR (roughly about 6,800 US Dollars).

As per the official press release, the Chinese smartphone maker is hosting its first ever BGMI tournament in India that started on August 26 and will continue on till August 31. Reports have claimed that the upcoming Vivo X70 lineup includes three devices such as the Vivo X70, X70 Pro, and X70 Pro+. Fresh information reveals that the X70 series for China will include another model called the Vivo X70t Pro. This handset has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking site today with a few key specs (via).

The Vivo V2135A handset has been spotted with the Vivo X70t Pro moniker at the IMEI database. This moniker suggests that it could be a China-exclusive device like the predecessor X60t series. The X70t Pro’s Geekbench listing shows that it is powered by the Dimensity 1200 chipset, which is mentioned as MT6893Z_C/CZA.

The listing further reveals that it has 8 GB of RAM, and it boots to Android 11 OS. In the single-core test, it scored 866 points and 3075 in the multi-core test. The Vivo X70 and X70 Pro are also expected to arrive with the Dimensity 1200 chip. Hence, it appears that the X70t Pro could be a tweaked version of the X70 Pro.

Vivo is expected to unleash the Vivo X70 series of smartphones in multiple markets like China and India in September. The renders of the X70, X70 Pro, and X70 Pro+ have already leaked. The vanilla will be featuring a 6.5-inch flat AMOLED display, whereas the Pro variant will come with a 6.5-inch AMOLED curved edge screen. Both models are equipped with triple rear-facing cameras and Dimensity 1200 chip. The vanilla model may feature a traditional OIS system, whereas the Pro model may get a micro-gimbal stabilization.

Apple supplier Foxconn is apparently racing to hire a large number of new workers for the world’s largest iPhone factory that is situated in China. The company is rushing to hire a whopping 200,000 workers ahead of the iPhone 13 series launch.

According to a SCMP report, one of the major suppliers of the Cupertino based giant has started fast track recruitments for 200,000 workforce that it currently need to fill in by the end of September 2021. The news arrives as we reach close to the launch date of Apple’s latest iPhone 13 lineup. As per the Foxconn site’s deputy manager, the process of hiring additional workforce is the “biggest bottleneck” as of right now. Although, Wang says that he is confident that the production site, which is also referred to as “iPhone City” can achieve this goal a the current speed of recruitment, which is also being supported by the local government.

Notably, the large facility can house as many as 350,000 assembly line workers and produce up to 500,000 smartphones a day. Furthermore, in the central Henan province, various local governments have also started processing new recruits for the massive iPhone production facility. These local governments have also employed 100 buses to “pick up job applicants from their communities and drop them at the factory gates.”

This recruitment drive is likely to better prepare for the projected demand for the next gen iPhone lineup. The new recruits would enable Foxconn to better adhere to the production schedule for the iPhone 13 series. Apple is reportedly targeting to ship somewhere between 130 to 150 million units of the new iPhones in the second half of this year alone and its current supply chain in Asia would be able to produce 90 to 100 million units to meet the initial orders for the new smartphones.

According to Strategy Analytics, Xiaomi was the world’s largest 5G Android smartphone brand in Q2 2022. However, only one phone from the company managed to be one of the top 3 best-selling Android 5G smartphones in China during the same period. Whereas, the remaining two were from OPPO and vivo respectively.

Strategy Analytics says that the less popular OPPO A53 5G was the best-selling 5G Android smartphone in China in the second quarter of 2021. For those unaware, this budget 5G handset made its debut way back in December 2020.

Further, the second best-selling model was the Redmi K40, followed by the iQOO 7 in the third position. These two mid-range phones are also known as flagship killers as they offer more for what they cost when compared to the competition.

Talking about the international availability of these devices, only the Redmi K40 can be purchased outside mainland China. This handset is known as Mi 11X in India and POCO F3 in the remaining global markets.

On the other hand, both the OPPO A53 5G and the iQOO 7 are exclusive to China. For those who are wondering about India, the iQOO 7 sold in that region is a rebranded iQOO Neo5.

Xiaomi becomes the World’s leading 5G Android Smartphone Brand

Xiaomi India has just announced its latest milestone on social media. In the online post, the company stated that it has become the world’s leading brand for 5G android smartphones.

The Chinese tech giant shared the news through its official Twitter handle and cited Strategy Analytics as its source. The tweet even shared an image posted that stated that the brand was the World’s No. 1 5G Android Smartphone Brand while also adding that it had a 25.7 percent market share in the second quarter of this year. As per the report from Strategy Analytics, the company shipped 24 million 5G enabled smartphones during this quarter through its Mi and Redmi brands.

Furthermore, the report added the launch of affordable 5G smartphones helped Xiaomi get the lead in the market and better compete against other brands. Strategy Analytics stated that “Xiaomi’s performance places it closely behind Samsung, which has shipped an impressive 77 million 5G smartphones worldwide over the previous 10 quarters. Samsung shipped the world’s first 5G smartphones, beginning in Q1 2019.” Following Xiaomi, Vivo arrives second with a 18.5 percent market share, Oppo arrives third with 17.9 percent, while Samsung and Realme came in fourth and fifth with 16.7 percent and 5.9 percent respectively.

Xiaomi has already launched several water purifiers in the market but today the firm has announced a new product in this category — Xiaomi Instant Hot Water Purifier Q600. It is touted as the company’s first water purifier to support for water heating functionality.

The Xiaomi Instant Hot Water Purifier Q600 is now also available for pre-order in the company’s home market China. Although it’s priced at 3,499 yuan ($540), it will be available for a discounted price of 2,999 yuan (~$463) during the pre-sale period.

It comes with a dual-core six-stage filtration technology and adopts reverse osmosis RO membrane and can achieve instant hot water at 30℃-95℃. It has a large flow of 600G and can fill a glass of water in about 6 seconds.

There’s also a precise temperature control function that comes in handy when brewing different drinks. To avoid the problem of aging water, when the water usage is stopped, the internal water will return to the RO membrane.

The product adopts “thick film heating technology” and has a heating device in the faucet pipe to realize instant heating when used. The faucet has a dual-pipe design, and room temperature water and hot water are separated.

At the top of the product, there’s a touch panel control for easily adjusting temperature and water volume as well as a child lock function. The Q600 PPC filter element is recommended to be replaced once a year and is priced at 199 yuan.

vivo tablet confirmed to launch in the first half of 2022

Earlier today, in an interview with the media, Hu Baishan, the Executive Vice President of vivo, confirmed that the company will be debuting its first self-developed ISP chip in September. This silicon dubbed as vivo V1 will be present inside the upcoming vivo X70 series. In the same interview, the executive also confirmed the arrival of vivo tablets.

Chinese smartphone brands are said to enter the tablet market very soon. Xiaomi has already released its first tablets in years earlier this month. On the other hand, realme has been teasing its tablet but it is yet to officially launch it.

Similarly, OPPO, OnePlus, and vivo are also expected to announce their tablets in the coming days. These companies have already filed design patents and trademarks for the same.

At the end of June, vivo was reported to launch its tablet in the fourth quarter of 2021. Looks like that will not be the case. As per Hu Baishan, the company’s first tablet will arrive in the first half of 2022.

OPPO, Vivo phones with Dimensity 810 likely to launch in September

MediaTek announced the Dimensity 810 and Dimensity 920 chipsets earlier this month. Recent reports have revealed that Realme and OPPO may soon launch a Dimensity 810 powered smartphone. A fresh Weibo post by a Chinese tipster reveals that OPPO and Vivo will both brands will release their Dimensity 810 phones in September.

The tipster did not reveal the name of the Dimensity 810 powered OPPO and Vivo phones that are expected to debut next month. However, she had previously claimed that the OPPO phone will feature a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD screen and it will be equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera.

Its rear camera setup may feature a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 lens as the main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro snapper. It will be housing a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It is expected to offer other features like Gorilla Glass protection for the display, P2i grade dust and water resistance, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, there is no information available on the specs of the Dimensity 810 powered Vivo phone.

In related news, Realme is planning to launch the Realme 8s 5G in India. Probably, it will debut as the country’s first phone with a D810 chip. It is expected to arrive with specs like a 6.5-inch FHD+ display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate, 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB / 256 GB of built-in storage.

For photography, the Realme 8s may feature a 16-megapixel front camera and a 64-megapixel quad-camera unit. It may house a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The Realme 8s may launch with the upcoming Realme 8i smartphone in September.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the world’s largest chip manufacturer, is also a contract manufacturer for Apple chipsets, including the Apple A15 Bionic that will be powering the upcoming lineup, which is based on the 5nm+ process.

With TSMC set to increase pricing, Apple will be passing on that price to the customers. TSMC has notified customers about increasing pricing up to 20 percent. Apple, which is among the biggest client of the company, could see a price rise between 3-5 percent.

While the price increase from TSMC is set to go into effect from January next year, Apple will be launching the new devices with increased pricing instead of hiking price just a couple of months after its official launch.

A few months ago, it was reported that Apple had placed a massive order of more than 100 million units of the A15 Bionic chips with TSMC as the company wants to eliminate any issues with supply and components for its upcoming iPhone 13 lineup.

Xiaomi recently launched its laetst MIX series flagship smartphone named Xiaomi MIX 4, making it the first smartphone from the brand to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. Soon after the launch, a limited edition variant of the device was announced, dubbed Xiaomi MIX 4 Three-Body Limited Edition.

Today, the Xiaomi MIX 4 Three-Body Limited Edition goes on sale in its home country China for the price of 6,299 yuan which roughly converts to $971. It comes in a single variant that packs 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

The company says that it has a limited stock of just 500 units available for sale. In this Three-Body Limited Edition box set, along with the Shadow Ceramic Black MIX 4 smartphone, there’s also a floating planet aromatherapy set. The box also comes with a unique planet-themed design in a blue hue.

Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 comes with a 6.67-inch full-screen AMOLED display with a 10-bit color depth. It is a curved display panel with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. One of its major highlights is the in-display camera. The device features a 20MP CUP (Camera Under-Panel) with a 4-in-1 Super pixel sensor.

Microsoft is expected to announce the Microsoft Duo 2 in October this year. It will be arriving as the successor to debuted in August 2020. The last year’s model came with the older Snapdragon 855 chip when other Android phones sported the Snapdragon 865. It is being speculated that Surface Duo 2 will sport the latest Snapdragon 888 chip. A Geekbench listing of the Surface Duo 2 has been spotted by MySmartPrice today. The listing reveals that it is indeed powered by the SD888.

The Surface Duo 2 Geekbench listing reveals that it is powered by a Qualcomm chip that features four CPU cores running at 1.80GHz, three CPU cores clocking at 2.42GHz, and a prime core working at 2.84GHz. The source code of the listing reveals that the Qualcomm chip is equipped with Adreno 660 GPU.

These specs reveal that the Surface Duo 2 smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 888v SoC. The inclusion of the chip suggests that it will be a 5G-ready device.

The listing further mentions that it has 8 GB of RAM, and it runs on Android 11 OS. It scored 1071 in the single-core test, and 3166 in the multi-core test. According to a recent report, the Android OS on the device will be overlaid with an improved version of the Microsoft Launcher.

Last month, a leaked video had appeared on YouTube to reveal the design of the alleged Duo 2. It revealed that the device is equipped with two separate displays held together by a 360-degree rotating hinge. It was seen sporting a triple camera unit. It also revealed that the device will be arriving in black and white colors.

The BLU G90 Pro had a Redmi Note 8 Pro-like design. Whereas, the BLU G91 Pro resembles the OPPO Reno series. The new device comes in two colors, namely Moonstone and Graphite. It measures 162.9 x 77 x 10.1mm in dimensions and weighs 215g.

On the front, it flaunts a 6.7-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 395 PPI, 20:9 aspect ratio, and a centered punch-hole. For comparison, its predecessor had a smaller 6.5-inch display with a dewdrop notch.

Further, the BLU G91 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90 SoC as opposed to an Helio G90T inside its predecessor. However, the new phone comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage instead of 4GB RAM like its forerunner.

There’s still a quad-camera setup but the ultra-wide-angle sensor has been lowered from 8MP to 5MP. The remaining sensors include a 48MP primary shooter, 2MP macro snapper, and 2MP depth sensor. Also, the selfie camera is 16MP, down from 32MP.

On the connectivity front, the handset supports dual-SIM, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, MicroSD card slot, and Android 11 operating system.

Last but not least, the smartphone is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 30W wired charging and 10W wireless charging.

BLU G91 Pro Price and Availability

The BLU G91 Pro is priced at $249.99 in the US. It is already up for sale exclusively on Amazon. For a limited time, the brand is offering a whopping $100 discount. Hence, customers can purchase the handset for only $149.99.

Additionally, the few hundred buyers are also eligible for a free pair of ARIA POD+ truly wireless earphones.

Infinix Zero X Neo with model number X6810 appears on BIS Certification

Infinix is expected to launch a new smartphone dubbed Infinix Zero X Neo soon as the smartphone has just appeared on BIS certification. Previously, the smartphone arrived on the Bluetooth SIG certification and was also spotted on the Google Play Console listing.

The BIS certification doesn’t really reveal anything other than its existence. It could mean that the smartphone’s launch is in the pipeline and it may launch in India and a few other markets soon. Adding the previously learned details, the Infinix Zero X Neo carries the model number X6810 and is powered by the MediaTek Helio G90 SoC.

The smartphone has a Full-HD+ display with an exact resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels. It has a pixel density of 480 PPI. The device has 8GB of RAM and we expect it to be paired with 128GB of onboard storage.

The device was also seen on Malaysia’s SIRIM certification with the moniker Infinix Zero M. It could mean that the phone will be having a different name in Malaysia. However, the device was seen with Media Helio G95 instead of Helio G90. This could further mean that it may have different hardware depending on the region.

Apart from this, Infinix recently showcased its Concept Phone 2021 with a whopping 160W fast charging support. Rumors are rife that it could be launching as the Infinix Zero X Neo in a few markets.

As of now, the company is silent about its announcements. But, considering that the phone has emerged on several listings, we expect the launch to be in the coming weeks.

Last year, the smartwatch market was quite sluggish in terms of growth, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, however, the smartwatch market has shown 27% YoY growth. Interestingly, the premium contender Apple is leading the smartwatch market and the Apple Watch has crossed 100 million user base globally.

According to Counterpoint, the top 5 smartwatch leaders this year, especially in Q2 are Apple, Huawei, Samsung, IMOO, and Garmin. Compared to last year, all these brands have seen a great increase in the smartwatch market share except Huawei. Huawei is still up there but its share has slightly declined compared to the same time last year.

On the other hand, Garmin has seen a big leap as it reached the top 5 segments with a 5.8% market share in Q2 this year. Samsung has also seen an increase on the charts compared to the same time last year. Speaking of Apple, which has just crossed 100 million user base has witnessed some contrasts. Although it has most of the smartwatch market share covered, it has also gone down to 28% from last year’s 30% market share in Q2. However, the company is still maintaining the lead and the major user base contributing to this share is the US.

Apple’s increased market share has led other emerging Chinese and Indian brands to come to the smartwatch segment. Brands like Xiaomi, Realme, and Oppo have offered similar technology and features at an affordable price. Indian brands like Noise and boAt have also been contributors to the increased global market share.

India has over 6% market share in the smartwatch segment, which is increased significantly over the 2% market share last year. Post COVID-19 pandemic, the smartwatch market has reportedly shown great recovery majorly due to several health-related features. Now that even affordable smartwatches are equipped with health and fitness features like SpO2 sensors, heart-rate sensors, and breathing exercises, the smartwatch market is expected to see continuous growth YoY.
