Realme Pad appears in real skin in the wild revealing an ultra-thin build

In the early part of June this year, Chinese tech giant Realme was rumored to be planning to launch what will be its first tablet. The company later confirmed the slate will be named Realme Pad and will launch alongside the Realme Book, its first laptop. The tech giant has even released a teaser poster of the tablet.Realme Pad

While we are yet to know when the tablet will be launched, a couple of unofficial images of the Realme Pad has been spotted in the hands of an unidentified female user. The images give us our first real-life look at the slate. They not only reveal the rear aspect but also the front.Realme Pad

The back looks like what is made from metal, perhaps aluminum. It bears a single camera that is located on the left side of the rear panel. The front screen reveals quite sizable bezels are the top and bottom end of the panel.  The tablet equally comes with square edges, a feature that has been teased previously. It also features an ultra-thin build which suggests it will be lightweight.

Realme is ye to reveal the specifications of the Realme Pad. However, it is expected to come with a mid-range configuration and should run Android 11 out of the box. Realme has released more details of the Realme Book laptop than that of the tablet. We expect more details to emerge as the launch draws closer.

Poco teases Aluminium Alloy Frame and Glass Sandwich design on the Poco F3 GT

While Poco is teasing the Poco F3 GT aggressively on Twitter, the launch of the device still remains unknown. Recently, the company took to Twitter trolling OnePlus’ Nord 2 smartphone, which is scheduled to launch this month in India. Today, Poco has teased about the upcoming F3 GT’s built and craftsmanship moving us closer to the Indian launch.

According to the tweet from Poco India, the Poco F3 GT will feature an Aerospace-Grade Aluminium Alloy Frame. It is said to have three levels of bevels – a radical bevel on one side, a concave bevel at the top, and a square bevel on the other side.

The attached screenshot in the tweet is said to be taken on the Poco F3 GT. It is the post on the Mi community about the Poco F3 GT’s built that confirms the device uses a series 7000 aluminium alloy frame and has a glass sandwich design.

“Our spanking new Poco F3 GT looks more refined than its predecessor (and the competition of course :P) as it exudes a premium feel owning to its glass construct in conjunction with an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy frame. Purposeful engineering led to us developing a high-quality metal frame that starkly contrasts that of our competitors, who still persist with flimsy plastic frames on their so-called “flagship killer devices”, the post said.

It continued, “GT’s singular metal frame is crafted to have three levels of bevels: radical, concave, and square, which lend an extra dimension to the ergonomics of the phone.”

The post enticed the Mi community about the upcoming Poco F3 GT and the tease-saga seems to continue till we receive an actual launch date.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G vs Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G: Specs Comparison

Yesterday, we compared the brand new OnePlus Nord CE 5G with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G as they are two midrange 5G phones sold in the same price range with amazing features. We chose the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G as the winner of that comparison, but it is a more expensive device than the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. Now, we decided to give the OnePlus Nord CE 5G another chance by comparing it to the lower-end version of the Mi 11 Lite: the 4G variant. By renouncing to 5G, you can get a still amazing device at a way more affordable price. But is it a better deal than the latest OnePlus budget phone? This comparison will let you find out.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G vs Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G

ADDITIONAL FEATURES Dual SIM slot, 5G Dual SIM slot, 5G

Design

In my honest opinion, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has a more interesting design than OnePlus Nord CE 5G. The OnePlus mid-ranger has an older look with that vertically-placed camera module, as it is a revisitation of the original OnePlus Nord. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has a more elegant camera module, a thinner design, and a lighter body. It is just 6.8 mm thick and weighs just 157 grams. Further, it has the IP53 certification for dust resistance and splash resistance. Unfortunately, both the handsets come with a plastic body, so you do not get premium materials.

Display

With the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G you can actually get a better display. It is a panel with one billion colors, the HDR10 certification, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The diagonal is also wider than its rival with 6.55 inches. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G has an AMOLED panel just like the Mi 11 Lite, but it lacks one billion colors and it has a smaller diagonal of 6.43 inches. The phones are equipped with in-display fingerprint readers and flat edges. Note that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has dual speakers guaranteeing more powerful sound, while Nord CE 5G has a mono speaker.

Specs & Software

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is the clear winner of the hardware comparison. It has a stronger processor: the Snapdragon 750G by Qualcomm. It has up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage, while Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has just 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage in its most advanced configuration. Last but not least, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G supports 5G, while Mi 11 Lite does not. The phones run Android 11 out of the box: the former has OxygenOS to customize it, while the latter has MIUI 12.

Camera

The camera performance of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite are very similar. They both feature a 64 MP main sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide lens: the only important difference in the rear department is the macro camera. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has a better 5 MP macro camera, while the Nord CE 5G has an inferior 2 MP sensor. Given that there are very marginal differences between the cameras, we recommend focusing on the other specifications. They are midrange cameras with more than sufficient performance, but they are not camera phones.

Battery

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is able to provide a longer battery life because it packs a bigger battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh. With Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, you get a smaller battery but also a thinner and lighter body. Further, the Mi 11 Lite has faster charging with a power of 33W. However, having a bigger battery is more important.

Price

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is currently available in the global market with a street price of €250/$297, while the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has a starting listing price of €299/$355 for the base variant. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G wins the comparison because of 5G, a better chipset, and a bigger battery, but you should not underestimate the Mi 11 Lite with its sleeker design and great display.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G vs Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G: PRO and CONS

OnePlus Nord CE 5G

PRO

  • Great listing price
  • More compact
  • Bigger battery
  • 5G

CONS

  • Price

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G

PRO

  • Better display
  • Dual speaker

OPPO and Vivo to launch three tablets combined

OPPO and Vivo are two Chinese manufacturers that will be making their entry into the tablet market this year. A new leak has revealed that both brands will be announcing a total of three tablets among each other.

The tablet market picked up last year following the effects of the pandemic that forced students to stay at home and attend school online. Thus many households had to purchase at least one tablet for their kids. The market is still growing and more players will be launching their first models so as to grab a share too.

Vivo and OPPO Tablets

According to Digital Chat Station, Vivo has two tablets in development while OPPO, its fellow BBK-owned company, has one. Both manufacturers are expected to launch a custom version of their operating systems (read Android skins) designed for tablets. So we should see Vivo’s tablets run OriginOS for Tablets while OPPO’s tablet will run ColorOS for Tablets.

Realme is also expected to launch its own tablet this year which will arrive as the Realme Pad and OnePlus has filed a trademark application for “OnePlus Pad”. Both companies are closer in relation to OPPO, so it is understandable why OPPO is launching only one tablet this year. OnePus’s own tablet will also run ColorOS in China, so it is safe to call it OPPO’s second tablet.

LG suspends plan to sell iPhones at its stores in Korea

A few weeks ago, it was reported that LG was facing backlash following reports that it plans to begin selling iPhones at its stores across Korea. A new report says that it has now suspended its plan to do so.

iPhone 12

According to the source, LG’s decision to begin selling iPhones at its physical stores has been opposed by small and medium-scale distributors who have said that LG’s large network of stores will pose a threat to their businesses. The Korean tech giant has over 400 LG Best Shops in the country.

The Korean government is also concerned about these small businesses, some of which had to close shop due to the pandemic, and is thus not in support of large retail outlets threatening the survival of smaller ones. It has also been reported that the plan has gotten Samsung worried as it believes the partnership will threaten its hold of the South Korean smartphone market.

It is not known when the talks between LG and Apple will resume or if they will at all but at the moment, LG claims it is temporary.

A few days ago, Huami, announced that it has an event scheduled for July 13. It turns out that the manufacturer will be announcing its new operating system and a new chipset too at the event dubbed “The Future of Health”.

A Weibo post by Huang Wang, the founder, and CEO of Huami Technology, revealed that its new self-developed operating system is better suited for watches and can better take advantage of the health features present in wearables. The CEO also shared a video of what appears to be a redesigned interface for heart rate measurement.

We do not know if the operating system is still based on RTOS or it is entirely new from scratch. However, one feature we know it will have is a dynamic watch face as seen in the video below courtesy of Digital Chat Station. The Chinese leaker who has had hands-on experience with the new operating system praises the UI and user experience.

More details about its upcoming Huangshan chipset were also revealed. According to Mr. Huang, the new processor, which should launch as the Huangshan 2S, will have an independent GPU. Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders featured b

The Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders (or Snapdragon Insiders Phone) sold in India and China will have the same specifications as the models sold in other regions, so buyers will also get 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

According to the listings, the phone will sell for ₹111,990 in India which converts to about $1500, the same price the device will go for in the U.S. For those in China, the price tag is ¥9,999 (~$1543). While it is interesting to see that those in India won’t be paying more, the fact is that they will be getting less than the other regions.

For starters, the phone will ship with a slower 30W charger (Qualcomm’s site says it is a 35W charger) compared to the Quick Charge 5 65W charger other regions will be getting. Also, the ASUS store listing doesn’t mention the pair of premium earbuds among the items in the box which means it won’t be included.

The Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders has a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor and packs a 4000mAh battery capacity that can charge at up to 65W. Samsung could reintroduce vapor chamber cooling for the Galaxy S22 lineup

A recent report from Taiwan claims that Samsung’s supply chain partners and suppliers are preparing to develop vapor chamber cooling solutions for Samsung’s lineup of smartphones from 2022. Specifically, the vapor chamber cooling solution could be deployed in the Galaxy S22 scheduled for unveiling in 2022.galaxy s21 vs s21 ultra

As smartphones become thinner and lightweight, with lots of internal components and features that ramp up the temperature of the devices while in operation, the need for robust cooling solutions cannot be glossed over. While throttling the smartphone processor is bound to reduce overall temperature, the flipside implies that the device will not operate optimally, performance-wise. Since device overheating is a serious operational challenge for smartphone manufacturers, it is always a priority to evolve solutions to the challenge that will provide smartphone peak performance while also extending battery life.

The vapor chamber cooling solution in smartphones has been deployed previously in some Samsung products like the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20. It seems to be a better cooling solution than the traditional method prevalent in most smartphones. The vacuum chamber approach entails placing a flat vacuum-sealed metal canister dissipating chamber within the smartphone that efficiently transforms the generated heat through a vaporization mechanism. The vapor chamber cooling solution effectively lowers the device temperature faster than a heat sink or even the graphite thermal pad used in some models.

With a more efficient cooling mechanism, you are guaranteed an optimal performance of the smartphone’s chipset even under situations that could ramp up the heat generation like gaming and other processor-intensive applications. Battery life is also optimized with a better cooling mechanism.

There has been no formal indication from Samsung about its plans to reintroduce the vapor chamber cooling solution to its 2022 lineup. So at best, this remains speculation for now.

Additionally, he also shared 360° renders of all color variants of the upcoming Samsung products, namely Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch Active4, and Galaxy Buds2.

Initially, all the above-mentioned products were planned to go official at the next Galaxy Unpacked event. But going by multiple reports, the Galaxy S21 FE will not be presented at this event due to the global semiconductor shortage. The successor to the popular Galaxy S20 FE is now expected to release in October.

That said, as per previous reports, the third-gen foldable smartphones from Samsung will bring huge improvements. The Galaxy Z Fold3, for instance, will not only have under-display cameras but will also support S Pen stylus. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip3 will come in a new dual-tone finish with a larger cover screen.

Further, the Galaxy Watch4 and the Galaxy Watch Active4 will be the first smartwatches to ship with the new Wear OS. Lastly, the Galaxy Buds2 will be cheaper than the Galaxy Buds Pro, however, it will still offer ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

OPPO A16 fresh renders leaked, key details confirmed

OPPO is working on a new A-series phone called the OPPO A16, which is likely to replace last year’s OPPO A15. Reputed tipster Evan Blass leaked the renders of the A16 to reveal its design and color variants. The tipster is back with some fresh renders, some of which confirm some of its key specs.

The new renders give a better look at the black, blue, and beige colors of the OPPO A16. The device sports a teardrop notch display on the front, and its back panel has a triple camera system. While its left edge is fitted with volume buttons, its right edge has a power button, which doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.

The other images show that the OPPO A16 is driven by the Helio G35 chipset and a 5,000mAh battery. Even the Geekbench listing of the phone that was spotted last month had revealed that it has the Helio G35 SoC. The listing had further revealed that it has 4 GB of RAM, and it runs on Android 11 OS, which will be overlaid with ColorOS UI.

The OPPO A16 was spotted at the FCC certification site last month. The listing had revealed that its 5,000mAh battery will support only 10W charging. It further revealed that the device is equipped with connectivity features like dual-band Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth.

A recent leak claimed that the OPPO A16 may get rebranded as the OPPO A37 (2021) in some markets. However, there is no official confirmation on the arrival of the A16/A37 (2021). Probably, the handset will go official later this month. Readers can checkout this Blass’ leak on A16 to view some of its other renders.
