Apple MacBook Pro with Mini-LED display could launch in September this year

Last year, Apple announced its own ARM-based Apple Silicon and the first chipset under this new category is M1, which is already powering devices like MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac.

The response received from the users as well as critics is quite good for the Apple M1 chipset and now the company has started the process of transitioning from Intel chips to its own Apple Silicon. This means that soon, all the computing devices from Apple will be powered by the company’s own chips.

The Cupertino-based tech giant is rumored to launch newly updated MacBook Pro laptops and now, the latest report coming from DigiTimes hint that the devices could be officially launched in September this year.

The upcoming Apple MacBook Pro models are said to come with an all-new design and two display options — 14-inch and 16-inch, featuring a Mini-LED screen. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also recently indicated that the next few weeks will be quiet as Apple is not planning any major announcement or product reveals until the launch of its new iPhones.

The report from China adds that shipments of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will peak in October as the devices are expected to be available for purchase a month after its official announcement.

The new MacBook Pros are expected to feature a flat-edged design, a MagSafe charging port, and a few more ports, including HDMI and an SD-card slot reader. It is also expected to come powered by the next-generation Apple Silicon chipset — probably M1X or M2.

It could come packed with a 10-core Apple silicon chip with eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores, along with 16 or 32-core GPU options and support for up to 64GB RAM. Preview reports indicate that Ruiyi Optoelectronics will be the exclusive supplier of these new Mini-LED panels while Quanta Computer will be responsible for the final assembly of the upcoming MacBook devices.

Realme C21Y

Under the hood, the handset is powered by a Unisoc T610 octa-core processor which is built using a 12nm fabrication process. The graphics on the handset are handled by an integrated Mali G52 GPU.

The device comes packed with 4GB LPDDRX RAM and 64GB internal storage. In the camera department, there’s a triple-camera setup on the back that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel monochrome lens.

On the front side, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling. Connectivity options include 4G, Dual Sim, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, AGPS, Beidou, and Glonass.

It would have been good if the company opted for the Android 11 OS. The phone has a Realme UI on top and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery.

The Realme C21Y comes in two color options — Black and Blue. The 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage model is priced at 3,490,000 Vietnamese dongs (approx. $151) while the 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage variant costs 3,990,000 Vietnamese dongs (~$173).

Leaked Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G press render reveals four color options

Lots of folks are looking forward to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. There are reports the device will arrive later than the Galaxy S20 FE and may even get a limited release. While we await more details about its arrival, an official press render has leaked and it shows the color options that will be available.

The Galaxy S20 FE was announced in six colors that include red, orange, white, lavender, mint, and navy. For its successor, it appears we will be getting fewer color options to choose from.

Galaxy S21 FE leaked press render

A leaked render shared on the web by Android Headlines, shows the Galaxy S21 FE will be available in only four colors. While they will go by fanciful names, the colors are violet, white, olive green, and black/gray. All four have matching frames

With respect to the phone’s design, there is a centered punch hole for the front-facing camera and the back is home to three rear cameras. The rear has been redesigned and it looks like that of the Galaxy S21 5G. There are also visible bezels that run around the display.

The Galaxy S21 FE has its SIM tray at the top while the power button and volume control buttons are on the right side. There is no visible fingerprint scanner and that is because the phone will have one under its AMOLED display.

When the Galaxy S21 FE 5G arrives, it is expected to pack a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It should also have a Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage.

The OnePlus 6T is the latest smartphone to run Windows 11

Windows 11 was announced last week, and while it won’t begin rolling out to users until later this year, Microsoft has released a preview for insiders. Since that happened, we have seen the new operating system get ported to a number of devices it wasn’t designed for. The latest device to get the Windows 11 treatment is the OnePlus 6T.

oneplus 6t
OnePlus 6T

The OnePlus 6T was released in 2018 and runs Android. Interestingly, some developers have been able to install Windows 11 on the phone, thanks to the ARM64 build released for Windows on ARM devices.

As reported by XDA Developers, those behind this interesting feat are the developers behind the Renegade Project, and they have made a video showing how they got Windows 11 running on the phone which was originally running Windows 10. You can watch the 13-minute long video below.

It has been reported that among the features that they got partially working include the touchscreen, the USB, and GPU, while Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and audio out via the speaker didn’t work. That is understandable considering Windows 11 wasn’t designed to run on the phone.

The team of developers have also got some PC games running on the phone such as Crysis, Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Mafia, Need For Speed Most Wanted, and GTA IV. They have put together a spreadsheet to show the list of games they tried and it also includes the resolution and frame rate of those that worked successfully.

In just a few days, we have seen Windows 11 get ported to the Xiaomi Mi 8 and the Lumia 950 XL. What device do you want to see the OS run on next? Let us know in the comment box.

ZTE executive hints at a 20GB RAM phone

About five years ago, the maximum RAM you could find on most smartphones didn’t exceed 4GB. Now, that is what you will find on even budget phones. A lot of flagships now have 12GB of RAM with some even having up to 16GB of RAM and even 18GB of RAM like the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro. We may see the bar get raised with a 20GB RAM phone from ZTE in the future.

ZTE executive, Lu Qianhao, made a post on Weibo that hints at a 20GB RAM phone from the manufacturer. The post has led to speculations about the first 20GB RAM phone.

ZTE 20GB RAM phone

Some believe the device may incorporate the virtual RAM feature we have seen some manufacturers adopt. So the phone may have 18GB of RAM and 2GB of virtual RAM. There is also the possibility that it actually has 20GB of physical RAM.

We don’t know when the device will launch. There is also the possibility that they might have no plans of releasing a phone with that amount of RAM but may have tested a prototype.

Huawei Band 6 is coming to India this month and here is how much it may cost

The Huawei Band 6 is a fitness tracker that was announced earlier this year. The smartwatch made its debut in Malaysia in early April and is now set to arrive in India soon according to the latest report.

Huawei Band 6

The fitness tracker is expected to make its arrival in India by the middle of this month reports MySmartPrice, citing industry sources. The blog has also revealed the possible pricing of the wearable.

The Huawei Band 6 will be priced under ₹5000, likely ₹4,499 (~$60) or ₹4,999 (~$67). Both prices are higher than the RM219 (~$53) selling price of the band in Malaysia. T-Mobile’s REVVL V+ 5G undercuts the OnePlus Nord N200 5G in style and price

If you live in North America and want to grab an affordable 5G smartphone, then the OnePlus Nord N200 5G is a great choice. However, it is not the only option as T-Mobile has announced its own affordable 5G smartphone that costs even less than the Nord N200 5G. The REVVL V+ 5G is not only cheaper but more stylish.

T-Mobile REVVL V+ 5G

The phone has a flat frame and a flat back much like the iPhone 12 series. While T-Mobile calls the color Nebula Black, it still has a bit of the operator’s signature color. For example, the power button is colored and there is a vertical streak of magenta on the back that adds a bit of style to the phone’s appearance.

The REVVL V+ 5G has a 6.82-inch LCD display, making it much bigger than the OnePlus Nord N200 which has a 6.49-inch display. Sadly, T-Mobile’s phone settles for an HD+ panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen also has a waterdrop notch.

Powering the phone is MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 processor and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. There are three cameras on the back of the phone – a 16MP main sensor, a 5MP sensor, and a 2MP sensor. The front-facing camera is a 16MP sensor.

The REVVL V+ 5G has face unlock and a fingerprint scanner buried under the magenta colored power button. Under the flat back panel is a 5000mAh battery and just the like Nord N200, it too supports 18W fast charging. A power brick and USB-A to USB-C cable is included in the box. The phone ships with Android 11.

Interested buyers will be able to get the REVVL V+ 5G starting July 12 at Metro stores and from T-Mobile (physical stores and online) starting July 23 for $200. It will be exclusive to the two networks. T-Mobile is also running a competition and selected winners will get a free REVVL V+ 5G phone.

DIZO Wireless neckband earphones & DIZO GoPods D TWS earbuds unveiled in India

Realme recently announced DIZO as the first brand under its TechLife ecosystem. The brand’s first product was billed to drop today and indeed, DIZO’s first products are a pair of wireless earbuds. The products are dubbed DIZO Wireless and DIZO GoPods D.DIZO GoPods D

The DIZO Wireless neckband earphones and the DIZO GoPods D true wireless earphones are really not new products entirely. The two models had earlier been launched under the Realme brand in other markets. The DIZO Wireless neckband is a rebadged Realme Buds Wireless 2 Neo while the DIZO GoPods D had earlier been launched as realme Buds Q2 in some countries. The design is slightly different, though.

Talking of the features, the DIZO Wireless neckband utilizes an 11.2mm Bass Boost driver and supports 88ms super low-latency gaming mode. The earbuds also feature a Magnetic Instant Connection whereby it is connected when the two earbuds are separated. The earbuds feature support for fast charging via a USB-C port. You also get an IPX4 Waterproof rating. DIZO Wireless

Further, the earbuds cram a 150mAh battery which can deliver up to 17 hours of playback on a single charge. The buds can be paired to the realme Link app on a smartphone, giving users the ability to customize functions such as switching bass boost+, getting system updates, etc.

The DIZO GoPods D has a smaller 10mm Bass Boost driver but with an improved 110ms super low-latency gaming support. It also comes with fast charging support. DIZO claims a 10 minutes charge will deliver up to 120 minutes of playback time for each bud and the charging case.

Each of the earbuds has a 40mAh battery that delivers up to 5 hours of battery life. The charging case packs a decent 400mAh battery that can deliver up to 20 hours of battery life. Windows 11 ARM64 successfully flashed on Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone

Microsoft has released the first Windows 11 Insider Preview for the Dev channel which is named Build 22000.51. The early preview version allows users to test-drive the features that are coming to the official version.

As the preview version has been released by the Redmond-based tech giant, the Windows 11 ARM version has also surfaced online and some developers have managed to load this newer Windows operating system on Lumia 950 XL smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Windows 11 OS

Not just that, some reports have revealed about Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone getting flashed with the Windows 11 Preview operating system. While Windows is working on the smartphone, it still doesn’t support touch screen functionality and USB port.

Although Microsoft has given up on its Lumia smartphones, users are still tinkering with the older models. Last year, a group of developers managed to port the full Windows 10 operating system on Lumia 950 and 950 XL smartphones.

Developers have also managed to add Continuum support as well as a custom phone dialer app on a Lumia smartphone running Windows operating system. They even reached the ability to detect the SIM card on the device.

There’s no way Windows operating system on smartphones is getting official, at least not anytime soon, but it’s interesting to see developers making progress, boosting the development of Windows on ARM project.

LG Q92 5G starts receiving Android 11 update

LG launched the LG Q92 5G as a cheaper alternative to the LG VELVET 5G last year. The smartphone debuted with Android 10. Almost a year after its release, the handset has finally started receiving the Android 11 update.

LG Q92 5G featured
LG Q92 5G

As per a software support page (via PiunikaWeb) on the LG Electronics website for South Korea, the ex-smartphone maker has begun to roll out the Android 11 update for the LG Q92 5G in its home country.

The latest system update brings all the new features of Android 11 and some more. Just like for the LG VELVET LTE, the new update also comes with new camera features, namely ‘Quick View’ mode, a ‘Night Time Lapse Mode’, and an in-built QR scanner.

This software build is being currently seeded out in batches. It should reach all the Korean units in the coming days. Similarly, we expect LG Electronics to release this update for other regional variants of the LG Q92 5G very soon.

According to an official announcement by LG from mid-April, the LG Q92 5G is also eligible for the Android 12 update. But it won’t be receiving Android 13 like the LG WING, LG VELVET 5G, and LG VELVET LTE. Anyway, we cannot tell for sure if the device will be indeed updated to the next version of Android.

Whare are your thoughts on LG supporting its handsets after exiting the phone business? Do let us know in the comment section below.

Oppo A series of smartphone models see a price revision in India

Oppo has just revision the pricing for certain smartphone models in India. This revision in price was for the company’s A series of budget and affordable mid range handsets, with the new prices being live as of today (1st of July 2021).

The news was first shared on Twitter by @Abhishek Yadav and is already reflected on online listings on popular e-retail websites that have these smartphone models in stock. On the social media platform, Abhishek shared a small number of models along with their new revised pricing. This includes the Oppo A11K, which is now available for 8,990 INR (roughly 120 US Dollars). While this was the original pricing of the device, it is still notable since it was launched back in June of last year.

Similarly, the Oppo A15 series also saw a price revision, with its 2GB + 32GB variant now being sold for 9,490 INR (roughly 127 US Dollars) while the 3GB + 32GB variant is now available for 10,490 INR (roughly 140 US Dollars).
