Leak: OnePlus 9 Pro will support up to 50W Wireless charging

Recently, OPPO silently launched a 45W AirVOOC wireless charger. Now, it looks like OnePlus will bring one for itself as the OnePlus 9 Pro is said to launch with 50W wireless charging support.

OnePlus 9 Series Official Render Featured

The new leak comes from leaker Ishan Agarwal. He has teamed up with Pricebaba to report on the info regarding the wireless charging on the OnePlus 9 Pro. According to him, the OnePlus 9 series’ top-of-the-line flagship will support up to 50W wireless charging. To complement this, OnePlus will also be launching a 50W Wireless charger.

The OnePlus 9 devices have recently passed through China’s 3C certification and as per the info available, the ‘Pro’ variant(LE2120) supports up to 65W fast charging, whereas the PPS(Programmable Power supply) and PDO(third-party Power Data Object) maxes out at 45W.

OnePlus 9

In contrast, leaker Max Jambor had said earlier that the device would come with a 45W wireless charging support. Anyway, considering OnePlus generally borrows/licenses OPPO’s tech(parent: Oujia Holdings Ltd.), the 50W charger launching under OnePlus could be one of OPPO‘s models but let’s wait for official info on the same.

OnePlus brought Wireless charging tech to the OnePlus devices with the OnePlus 8 Pro. The device supported up to 30W wireless charging and to complement this, the company also brought a 30W Warp Charge Wireless. This year, the successor of the OnePlus flagship series is getting a huge jump of 20W increase.

Speaking of successors, the OnePlus 9 series that is launching on March 23 is said to include three devices- OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and a OnePlus 9R/9E. If you aren’t aware of the specs and features of the device, you can read our coverage to know the same.

Xiaomi and POCO are gearing up to launch their Mi 11 Lite 5G and POCO X3 Pro respectively very soon. Ahead of the launch, the prices of the devices in Europe have now been leaked.

Leaked Live shots of Mi 11 Lite

Courtesy of the dealntech report, a Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G listing appears on a retailer listing. As per the listing, the device will have a Truffle Black color and 6GB RAM, 128GB storage variant. The price of this variant is listed as €408.18.

We aren’t sure if this would be the final price but it’s somewhat comparable to the predecessor’s €349 launch price. Besides, Tipster Abhishek Yadav has said in his tweet that the upcoming POCO X3 Pro would retail for around €269.

According to him, this variant of the POCO X3 Pro would have 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Earlier, a leak by Sudhanshu revealed the color and storage variants of the POCO X3 Pro who also said that the device would debut for €250.

Either way, it makes sense for POCO to bring it at a price less than Mi 11 Lite 5G. Although both devices are aimed at different segments, the latter has 5G that’s gaining traction in Europe lately. And if the leaks are true, POCO X3 Pro would be a 4G flagship.

Speaking of which, the POCO X3 Pro is rumored to feature a 120Hz AMOLED FHD+ display panel,  yet-to-launch Snapdragon 860 chipset, and a 5,200mAh battery. The Mi 11 Lite 5G, on the other hand, will likely have a new Snapdragon 775G SoC, 64MP camera, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB storage, and MIUI 12 operating system.

POCO has teased the launch date of the POCO X3 Pro in countries like India while Xiaomi is yet to reveal something on the Mi 11 Lite.

Motorola Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power start receiving Android 11 update

Back in December 2020, Motorola released a list of devices that will be updated to Android 11. However, the company did not reveal when these phones will be getting the update. In late January, Moto G Pro became the first smartphone from the firm to get the Android 11 update. Now, over one and a half months later, two more Motorola handsets have started receiving the latest Android update.

Motorola Moto G8 Power Capri Blue Featured

According to a report by PiunikaWeb, Motorola has begun to roll out Android 11 stable update for the Moto G8 and the Moto G8 Power. The update is currently live in Colombia.

The same report says that the Lenovo-owned company had actually kickstarted the Android 11 soak testing (beta program) for these phones back in November itself. That means it took the firm around four months to deliver the stable update.

Anyway, the update is here now. Since both these handsets run a common software build, the Motorola Moto G8 and Moto G8 Power Android 11 stable arrives with build number RPE31.Q4U-47-35 and February 2021 security patches.

As of now, like any other new OTA update, this one is also being seeded out in batches. Hence, it is only available for select users in Colombia. However, it should be available for more users as well as in other regions in the coming days.

Chinese smartphone maker realme just launched realme GT as its first high-end smartphone of 2021. Up next, the company is all set to unveil the realme 8 series. After that, we expect the brand to announce realme GT Neo, which it had teased a few days back. This smartphone seems to have been now listed on TENAA with pictures as well as certain specs.

realme RMX3116 TENAA 01

A realme smartphone with model number RMX3116 has appeared on TENAA. The listing has the images of this phone and therefore, we know what it will look like.

First and foremost, it will have a curved display. Hence, the upcoming realme RMX3116 could be the first curved display smartphone from the brand. Further, it will have the usual ‘DARE TO LEAP’ branding on the rear panel along with what appears to be a vertically aligned triple camera setup.

Lastly, the images show the handset with an accented power key on the right side. Whereas, the two separate volume buttons sit on the left side.

As far as specifications are concerned, the listing mentions this 5G handset to come with a 6.55-inch display, dual-2,200mAh battery, and Android 11 (realme UI 2.0). Lastly, it will measure  159.9 x 73.4 x 7.8mm in dimensions.

According to a Weibo user called WHYLAB, this device will have a 90Hz refresh rate screen and a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. Entire specs of Micromax IN 1 smartphone leaked ahead of March 19 launch

Yesterday(Mar. 12) Micromax confirmed that it will launch a new IN 1 smartphone in India on March 19. Today, Tushar Mehta(@thetymonbay) of XDA has leaked the entire specs of the device on Twitter and it looks like a watered-down variant of the IN Note 1.

Micromax In 1

Tushar says that Micromax IN 1 will feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ display with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. If you recall, the Micromax IN Note 1 also has a similar-sized display. If the panel is indeed the same, it should have a resolution of 2460×1080 pixels, 21:9 aspect ratio, and 450 nits max brightness.

Micromax IN 1 Specs(Expected)

Under the hood, the Micromax IN 1 is said to have MediaTek’s Helio G80 chipset. On the other hand, the Micromax IN Note 1, which has the Helio G85 chipset, is currently retailing for ₹11,499(4GB RAM) on Flipkart.

The reason for mentioning the RAM for the IN Note 1 is because Tushar says that the Micromax IN 1 will go up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option. However, in terms of cameras, the third IN device from the company will omit the ultrawide lens.

It is likely to feature a Triple-camera setup with a 48MP main lens and a pair of 2MP sensors. Upfront, it will have an 8MP selfie shooter. Other features of the upcoming IN 1 include a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and a rear fingerprint sensor.

From the above details, it is clear that Micromax wants to position the IN 1 between the IN 1b and IN Note 1 devices. However, there is no info on the pricing yet. We are a still week and hence, let’s wait for more info on it in the coming days.

OnePlus Watch launch date is March 23, teaser released

Recently, OnePlus confirmed that it will be announcing the OnePlus 9 series of smartphones on March 23. The event will see the arrival of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones powered Hasselblad cameras. It has now confirmed that it will be also unleashing the much-anticipated OnePlus Watch smartwatch on March 23.

Earlier this year, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Band as is its first wearable device. The company had teased a smartwatch back in 2015. However, it decided to ditch it in a bd to focus more on its smartphone lineup. In October 2020, the company released the first teaser of its smartwatch, which suggested that it will go official in the coming months. In December, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that it will be announced in early 2021. Shown below is the latest tweet, which confirms that the OnePlus Watch will be debuting on March 23.

Reports have suggested that there could be two models of the OnePlus Watch. The one with the W310GB model number may feature a square-shaped dial and it is likely to be called the OnePlus Watch.

The other variant with the W501GB model number could be sporting a circular screen and it may break cover as the OnePlus Watch RX. Both models are expected to land in India since they have received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The OnePlus Watch series is speculated to run on Wear OS.

It is still unclear whether the company will be announcing the rumored OnePlus 9R/E smartphone alongside the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones. The Chinese manufacturer is also yet to confirm the arrival of the OnePlus Nord SE, which is nothing but a specially designed version of the original OnePlus Nord phone.

OPPO’s first foldable smartphone rumoured to launch in June

A new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) will soon be added to the growing list of manufacturers of smartphones with a foldable or rollable display. Chinese manufacturer OPPO is rumored to be in the final stages of releasing its first smartphone with a foldable display by the end of June or possibly July 2021. This was disclosed by the noted tipster, Digital Chat Station who has got a high degree of accuracy with his leaks. OnePlus foldable phone

The race for the delivery of a foldable display seems to be very keen among Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Vivo, together with OPPO and a few others, as well as Google, all pursuing the release of the models within 2021. However, it should be stated that the information is speculative and none of the companies mentioned have put out any definitive statement on their rumored rollout of foldable displays this year.

On the other hand, Chinese giant, Huawei has announced its foldable device for 2021, and Samsung is also projected to release the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 as well in 2021. Huawei and Samsung could we’ll be the frontrunners in the race, having put out some form of confirmation of their plans.

There are speculations that most of the upcoming smartphones with foldable displays are the versions with in-folding capacity, as compared with the initial out-folding models that have been previously produced by some manufacturers. Huawei had come up previously with an out-folding display model, the Huawei MateX, whose initial hype has died off and may have been plagued by many technical issues due to the out-folding nature of its display. It is believed that Huawei’s new offering will be an in-folding model.

It is a mixed bag of opinion among smartphone customers on the utility and durability of foldable displays over conventional flat displays. While some consumers believe that foldable displays are quite compact and could be as efficient and durable as other displays, many consumers are of the view that foldable display models are very fragile and less efficient.

OnePlus 9 & 9 Pro receive 3C and network certifications in China

OnePlus‘ upcoming flagship series has continued to rule the airwaves especially as the company has relented in dishing out juicy details and teasers of the models. It is no longer news that the OnePlus 9 series will be launched on March 23. Ahead of the date, the models have now been certified by two of China’s numerous certification agencies namely 3C (CCC) and TENAA (MIIT). OnePlus 9 Pro

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) which is also known as TENAA only granted the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro network certifications. The OnePlus 9 is listed as LE2110 while the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with the model number LE2120. These model numbers had earlier been tipped to belong to the OnePlus 9 and the Pro variants respectively. OnePlus 9

Basically, not many details are revealed by the listings. The two models will arrive with 5G connectivity and will support dual-mode SA/NSA 5G connectivity as well as dual SIM/dual standby.

On the other hand, the two OnePlus models also appear on China’s 3C bearing the same LE2120 and LE2110 model numbers. The listings only confirm the smartphones will come with support for fast charging and may ship with a 65W charging adapter.

We expect TENAA to share further details of the OP9 specs and images of the models as well. Even if that doesn’t happen, March 23 isn’t too far away.

Just to recap, the OnePlus 9 is expected to pack a 6.55-inch FHD+ flat AMOLED top-left punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate and the OP9 Pro features a 6.7-inch screen size. The duo will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 chipset among other features.

Samsung Galaxy M02 India price hiked by ₹500 a month after its launch

In early February, Samsung launched the Galaxy M02 entry-level smartphone in India. It is a rebranded Galaxy A02, which is available in markets like Thailand. A little over a month after its debut, the company has now hiked its price by ₹500.

Samsung Galaxy M02 All Colors Featured

Samsung released the Galaxy M02 in two storage configurations. The base variant with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage launched at ₹6,999. On the other hand, the higher version with 3GB RAM and 32B internal storage was introduced at ₹7,499.

But now, according to a retail source of 91Mobiles, the South Korean tech giant has hiked the price of this handset by ₹500 for the offline channels. We also found the device to be listed with the increased price tags on both Samsung online store and Amazon India.

Therefore, if you are planning to get this phone, then you will have to spend either ₹7,499 for the 2GB + 32GB model or ₹7,999 for the 3GB + 32GB variant. The new price is applicable to all four colors options, namely Black, Blue, Red, and Gray.

It is weird for Samsung to increase the price of its cheapest smartphone launched in 2021 to date. Last year, the company did the opposite by dropping the price of its most-affordable smartphone (Galaxy M01 Core) just two months after its release.

Samsung brings Android 11 to Galaxy A42 5G, Galaxy M31 gets incremental One UI Core 3.1 update

Samsung launched the Galaxy A42 5G with Android 10 OS out of the box. Now, it is getting the Android 11 update. On the other hand, the Galaxy M31, which was the first budget device to get the Android 11 update, is now getting the incremental One UI Core 3.1.

Samsung Galaxy A42 5G Featured

A new update with firmware version A426BXXU1BUB7 is rolling out to the users of Galaxy A42 5G in the Netherlands. This update brings the latest One UI 3.1 based on Android 11. Also, this is a direct jump from the One UI 2.5. Samsung initially started its Android 11 rollout process with One UI 3.0 on top.

However, it switched tracks to One UI 3.1 after the Galaxy S21 launch. Anyway, the update brings Android 11 features and the latest One UI 3.1 improvements like revamped UI, improved stock apps, One-time permissions and Permissions auto-reset, Dedicated Media Player widget(in Quick settings), and more.

Parallelly, the Samsung Galaxy M31 is getting the incremental One UI Core 3.1. Earlier, the company had rolled out the One UI Core 3.0 along with the Android 11 update to the budget device.

An OTA update with firmware version M315FXXU2BUC1 weighing about 1.193GB in size is now rolling out to the users of Galaxy M31 in India. The changelog says improvements to camera, performance, and security. However, as the UI is now incremented, it should get features like the Galaxy M31s.

It’s worth noting that the updates for both these devices include the latest March 2021 security patch. If you are someone living in either of these regions, do sure to check for the OTA(Over The Air) update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Considering Samsung is in another league when it comes to updating its older devices, this update should expand to other regions in no time.

All they have to do is download the appropriate file from OnePlus Community and then, head over to Settings > System Updates > Top Right Icon > Local Upgrade and select the downloaded file to install the updates.

That said, the OnePlus 8T OxygenOS Open Beta 1 update  brings optimizations for status bar UI display, frame rate stability in games, community homepage, sunny and cloudy day animations in the Weather app, and cloud service layout in the Gallery app.

The base model will go on sale in countries like India only from April 15, and the ‘ROG Phone 5 Pro‘ and ‘Ultimate‘ versions of the devices will subsequently be available from April and May 2021 respectively. With this speed, we expect ASUS to bring fine-tune the device multiple times before it reaches the customer.

Either way, the rollout is staggered and it should reach the devices that are out there(review units) in a few days. This update brings features like new motion control gestures, Esports Mode, and various optimizations. You can look at the changelog below:

  • Enhanced the advanced settings of system modes in Armoury Crate
  • Added animation editor for ROG Vision in Armoury Crate. Now supports share and import functions.

OPPO quietly launches a 45W AirVOOC Wireless Charger

Yesterday, OPPO launched the Find X3 series as its latest flagship smartphone series. The two devices in the lineup, namely Find X3 and Find X3 Pro support the company’s 30W AirVOOC wireless charging protocol. However, the firm has quietly listed an even powerful 45W AirVOOC Wireless Charger on Jingdong (JD).

OPPO AirVOOC 45W Wireless Charger Featured

The OPPO ACE2 is the first smartphone to support the company’s AirVOOC wireless charging protocol. Unlike the OPPO Find X3 and the OPPO Find X3 Pro, the ACE2 can charge at a maximum rate of 40W. This handset was announced in April 2020 and it is sold exclusively in China.

In other words, OPPO did not launch any other phone with support for AirVOOC for almost a year. But the firm’s sister brand OnePlus did in the form of the OnePlus 8 Pro. OnePlus calls this protocol ‘Warp Charge Wireless’ and it maxes out at 30W.

Up until now, there were only two chargers to make use of this proprietary charging protocol. The first model is OPPO 40W AirVOOC Wireless Charger, which was announced alongside the OPPO ACE2. Whereas, the second product is the OnePlus Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger.

This makes the new 45W AirVOOC Wireless Charger the third product to support this charging protocol. But the problem is OPPO does not have a single smartphone compatible with a 45W wireless charging rate. This hints that the company may release a new handset with support for this standard in the near future.

Another possibility is that this same charger could be rebranded with OnePlus branding for the upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro, which is reported to have support for Warp Charge 45 Wireless.

Whatever it may be, we can expect faster wireless charging smartphones from the three Oujia brands (OPPO, OnePlus, realme).

OPPO 45W AirVOOC Wireless Charger Specifications, Features, and Price

As the name suggests, the new OPPO AirVOOC wireless charger can support up to 45W output. However, the maximum speeds are only compatible with devices with AirVOOC tech. Whereas, devices with support for Qi charging protocol are limited to 15W only.

As far as inputs are concerned, this charger can be used with 18W, 20W, and 65W adapters. The maximum wireless charging speed will depend on the adapter used. Also, it is worth noting that the product does not ship with an adapter but it does come with a USB Type-A to Type-C cable.

The charging stand is vertical in design but phones can be placed both vertically and horizontally. Further, the charger will able to charge the phones at the maximum speed with a case that has a thickness of less than 2mm.

It has six protections for over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, over-current, electrostatic, and foreign body detection. Lately, the charger also features a fan to keep the thermals down.

The  OPPO 45W AirVOOC Wireless Charger with model number OAWV02 comes only in white color and it is priced at ¥329 ($50) in China. The product should be available for purchase in the coming days.

Apple sues former MacBook designer for allegedly leaking trade secrets to a journalist

In what could be a strong evidence of insiders within an organisation leaking confidential and privileged trade secrets for personal gain, Apple has instituted a lawsuit against its former employee, Simon Lancaster. Lancaster who rose to become a highly placed materials lead on the company, is accused of deliberately accessing highly classified information about upcoming products by Apple and selling the information to the media in several instances. The trade secrets were thought to be sold in exchange for favorable coverage of a startup by the unnamed media organisation.Apple

In a case filed by Apple against Lancaster, which was spotted be Apple Insider, the former Apple staff who was an Apple employee from 2008 to 2019, was accused of abuse of his position and trust within Apple by systematically disseminating Apple’s sensitive trade secrets to curry personal benefits from a media outlet. Being a senior official, Lancaster was accused of accessing internal trade secrets from documents outside the scope of his job specification and responsibilities and transferring the same to a media correspondent, who then published the stolen materials in the unnamed media platform in several articles.

Lancaster was further accused of accessing unauthorized Apple trade secrets even after leaving Apple for a materials research and development firm, Arris which was an Apple vendor, in clear breach of the extant agreement between both companies. In the wake of the continued transfer of Apple trade secrets to the media correspondent even after leaving Apple, an investigation ensued with a scrutiny of the devices used by the accused former staff. The investigation revealed that Lancaster indeed took specific steps to steal additional Apple trade secrets after he left the company. He was accused of being in regular communication with the correspondent, and sent specific details upon request, even using Apple-issued devices in some instances.

Apple claimed Lancaster had, through his deliberate actions, breached the Defense of Trade Secret Act, California’s Uniform Trade Secret Act, and a written contract. Apple therefore is requesting the court to grant all the reliefs it has sought, including damages, restitution, and costs of the lawsuit.
