Redmi K30 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G benchmarked on AnTuTu

The much-anticipated Redmi K30 smartphone is confirmed to go official in the company’s home market China on 10th December, i.e. tomorrow. Now, ahead of the phone’s launch, the device has been benchmarked by AnTuTu.

AnTuTu benchmark of the Redmi K30 smartphone reveals the scores of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset which is powering the device. In the test, the chipset has managed to impressively score 302,847 points.

Redmi K30 Snapdragon 765G AnTuTu

On breaking down the AnTuTu score, the CPU has scored 98,651 points while GPU score of the chipset stands at 87,564 points. MEM score and UX score stands at 57,985 points and 58,647 points respectively.

The Snapdragon 765G SoC is 7nm octa-core processor that includes one Kryo 475 Prime (Cortex-A76) CPU working at 2.4GHz, one Kryo 475 Gold (Cortex-A76) CPU clocking at 2.2GHz, and six Kryo 475 Silver (Cortex-A55) working at 1.8GHz.

However, the company is still using Cortex-A76 based CPU cores on SD765 and SD765G. In comparison, the mid-range Exynos 980 from Samsung comes with Cortex-A77 cores. For graphics, the chipset comes with Adreno GPU that promises 38 percent improved performance than its predecessor Adreno 618 GPU.

It comes integrated with X52 5G modem that promises 3.7Gbps 5G download speeds and 1.6Gbps 5G upload speeds over sub-6GHz and mmWave. It also supports HDR10+ and Rec2020 color gamut.

The Spectra 355 ISP allows the chipset to support single camera of up to 192-megapixel and dual-camera of up to 22-megapixel. The 5th generation AI engine on SD765G offer 5.5TOPs of computing power. The audio capabilities of the SD765 include Hexagon Voice Assistant Accelerator, Aqstic smart speaker amplifier up to WSA8815 and Aqstic™ audio technology. For charging, it supports Quick Charge 4+ and Quick Charge AI technologies.

Redmi K30 Silver

The Redmi K30 smartphone will come with 6.67-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ second-generation punch-hole display which will house dual camera sensors. The company has also confirmed 4,500mAh battery and 30W fast charging support.

Coming to the quad camera setup on the back, it will have a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 + 8-megapixel (telephoto) + 13-megapixel (ultra-wide) and 2-megapixel quad camera setup. On the front side, it comes with 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual front-facing cameras.

While the 5G variant will come with support for SA and NSA dual-mode, the company is also confirmed to launch a cheaper variant of the Redmi K30 which will come with 4G connectivity support and not 5G. Everything related to this lineup should be clear when the device goes official tomorrow.

Vivo suspends Jovi OS; will remain Funtouch OS with a new version unveiled on Dec. 16

A few weeks ago, the product manager for Funtouch OS shared a font design image with the words “Jovi OS”. Originally believed to be a teaser for a new OS, it turned out to be a rebranding for FunTouch OS. Now, it has been revealed they will not be going forward with the naming.

Jovi OS

The product manager for FunTouch OS took to Weibo today to announce that after multiple consultations with team members, they have decided to suspend the plan to rename the OS. This means Vivo’s forked version of Android will remain Funtouch OS and not be called Jovi OS.

In the post, he apologized for the confusion the decision has caused. He also added that a new version of Funtouch OS will be announced on December 16, alongside the Vivo X30 series.

Jovi OS cancellation

We are not surprised at the news that there will be a new version of Funtouch OS as that was expected with the launch of Jovi OS.

The new version of Funtouch OS will bring new features such as “Application Sharing”. This feature allows you to share an app available on your phone to another phone. Based on the demo video, the feature is actually a sort of screen-casting between devices where you have a “master” and “slave”. However, the video shows it is also possible to control the app from the “slave”.

The Vivo X30 and Vivo X30 Pro should be the first devices to run this new version of Funtouch OS. Both phones will be powered by the Exynos 980 5G modem, have punch-hole AMOLED displays, and support 33W fast charge.

Download Adobe Photoshop Camera (preview) and enjoy the premade filters

Adobe offers a lot of professional tools to edit images, videos, flash files, and other stuff. Despite offering tons of software to edit the digital content, the company was missing its camera app for smartphones. Well, the company announced its own Adobe Photoshop Camera powered with AI-filters known as “Lens.” The company claims of using its home-built artificial platform Sensei to recognize objects in the photos.

Must See: How to boost gaming performance using L-Speed Magisk Module?

Apart from the suggestions, the user can manually pick any filter available in the app. It can be applied to images from the media gallery, or the user can preview it in real-time. The “Lens,” aka different filters are divided into categories such as portrait, pop art, cosmic skies, spectrum, food, scenery, etc.

The interested users can sideload the app as we have got hands-on the apk. After installing the app, it will ask for Adobe, Google, or Facebook account to sign in to the app. The preview app can be used by sideloading and then logging in. It is a preview app, so expect some bugs or can experience lag while using. It is recommended to close the app from recents menu as it can heat-up your device.

psc

After installation, the user can choose a filter and apply it to the already snapped picture. Otherwise, the app also supports real-time preview of the filter in the viewfinder. Users can spend some time to catch beautiful pictures using the favorite filter through the viewfinder. The globe icon on the top left corner gives you access to the Lens library. It hosts an additional lens, aka filters on the top left corner.

Apart from the selfie or portrait filters, there’s an abundance of filters to convert typical landscape picture into a high-end image. There are also some funny filters that make you look like a pop artist. The automatic filter suggestions is purely an AI-based feature of the app.

Adobe Photoshop Camera app is officially compatible with these smartphones. However, it can be installed on other smartphones running Android 9+ onboard.

  • Google Pixel3/XL
  • Google Pixel4/XL
  • Samsung S9/S9+
  • Samsung S10/S10+
  • Samsung Note 9
  • Samsung Note 10/10+

It is running correctly on devices such as OnePlus 5, 7T Pro, and Huawei Mate 30 Pro. You can grab the Adobe Photoshop Camera from the download link below.

Poll of The Week: Which Redmi K30 color variant is your favorite?

The Redmi K30 should be available in four colors when it launches based on the four posters released by the official Redmi Weibo account so far.

While the official names are difficult to translate, we will go with purple, gradient blue, silver, and pink. There doesn’t seem to be a black version of the phone, and we honestly do not mind. I, personally love the silver version as it matches the RedmiBook 13 that is set to launch on the same day as the phones. However, we want to know which of these colorways is your favorite one. So do take the poll below.

[envira-gallery id=”293895″]

[yop_poll id=16]

The Redmi K30 will have a 6.67-inch FHD+ display with a punch hole for dual front-facing cameras. Redmi already released a poster confirming the selfie cameras are a 20MP sensor and a depth sensor. On the back of the phone are four cameras – a 64MP main sensor, a 2-centimeter macro camera, a 120° ultrawide angle camera, and a depth sensor.

Redmi K30 camera specs

The 4G version of the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 730G processor while the 5G version will be the first phone to launch with the new Snapdragon 765G processor. There will be multiple configurations with the 5G version having up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Redmi K30 will have a 4500mAh battery with support for 30W Fast Charging. It will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, an audio jack with Hi-Res audio, and will run MIUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box.

Live photos show Coral Red Vivo X30 is pretty; more specs revealed

The Vivo X30 is another mid-range smartphone launching in China this month. Unlike the Redmi K30 5G and OPPO Reno3 Pro, Vivo‘s X30 smartphone will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 980 5G chipset.

The Vivo X30 will launch on December 16 and it will bring along a Pro-model too. The phone will be available in Coral Red and Marine Blue; live photos of the former have been posted on the web.

The color is actually quite similar to Pantone’s 2019 color of the year: Living Coral. The Vivo X30 has a punch-hole display too but it is for a single camera and is on the right. The display is an AMOLED panel and there is an in-display fingerprint scanner for security.

Vivo X30 live photo Vivo X30 live photo

The phone has quad rear cameras that are arranged vertically on the left of the phone. There is a periscope lens housed separately for zoom. Vivo says the X30 will have up to 60x hybrid zoom.

Other than the live photos, a few specs have also leaked. The source of the image says the phone has a 32MP selfie camera and packs a 4350mAh battery. Chinese leakster, @Digital Chat Station, in his own post yesterday stated the same battery capacity but adds that both the Vivo X30 and Vivo X30 Pro will be powered by the Exynos 980. The Exynos processor has an integrated 5G modem with support for both SA and NSA 5G networks.

Vivo X30 specs

We expect Vivo will announce other products alongside the two phones. We also expect it to announce its new OS called JoviOS which may replace Funtouch OS.

Redmi K30 (4G) unboxing and hands-on video leaks few days to launch

Most details about the Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 5G have been from official sources but that isn’t to say the leaks have stopped too. Photos showing an unboxing of the pink variant as well as a hands-on video of the purple variant have leaked just a few days to the release of the phone.

The unboxing photos show the Redmi K30 will ship in a white box with the phone’s name written in color-shifting lettering. There is also Xiaomi’s Mi logo in the same lettering at the top right corner. The Underside of the box has an image of the Redmi mascot and the words “Designed By Redmi”.

The color variant in the box is pink and it is the 6GB RAM + 128GB version. TENAA already revealed there will be 6GB RAM + 64GB, 8GB RAM +128GB, and 12GB RAM + 256GB versions too.

The phone itself is not turned on but the punch-hole display and dual front-facing cameras are visible. The photo of the back of the phone also gives us a very clear look at the quad cameras. The plastic wrapping confirms the Redmi K30 has support for storage expansion but you will have to sacrifice one Nano SIM slot for it. And yes, that back is covered in frosted glass.

The hands-on video is of the purple variant and this unit is turned on. The video shows the phone is running MIUI 11, and according to the TENAA listing, it is based on Android 10.

The Redmi K30 4G will have a 6.67-inch FHD+ display and be powered by a Snapdragon 730G processor. It will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 4500mAh battery with support for fast charging.

Best Value for Money Smartphones of December 2019

Are you looking for a new device to buy or gift for Christmas and you want to save some money while still getting an amazing smartphone? You are in the right place. A lot of smartphones were launched in the latest period, but in this article, we collected the best value for money smartphones available in the market. The ranking may not include some very good devices just because it is referred to the month of December 2019, so we decided to include only devices released recently. If you need more alternatives, you can check our previous article about the best value for money smartphones of the previous month.

Best value for money smartphones of the month

Realme X2 Pro

Realme X2 Pro

Realme X2 Pro is the king of flagship killers. It simply provides flagship hardware and a top-end display panel at a midrange price. Despite its price starts from just €399 globally, it is fueled by the Snapdragon 855+ that is currently the most powerful Qualcomm’s chipset in the market. And it is paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal UFS 3.0 storage. Realme X2 Pro also boasts a display with a 90 Hz refresh rate, the support to HDR10+ and full DCI P3 coverage for amazing image quality. Among its other advanced features, there are 50W fast charging, and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers.

You can learn more about the Realme X2 Pro by clicking here.

Huawei Nova 6

Huawei Nova 6 5G
Huawei Nova 6 5G

The Huawei Nova 6 series debuted in China a few days ago and it includes three devices: Nova 6, Nova 6 5G and Nova 6SE. The vanilla Nova 6 is the most interesting when it comes to value for money since it has flagship-class specifications but it costs slightly more than €400 (CNY 3199) in China. It mounts the new Kirin 990 chipset and it is even equipped with an amazing camera department including a 40 MP main sensor and 3x optical zoom. Its big 4100 mAh battery supports 40W fast charging and there is even a top-end dual front camera (one of the best front setups) housed in a punch hole.

You can learn more about the Huawei Nova 6 by clicking here.

Honor V30

Honor V30 Pro

Honor V30 is one of the most affordable 5G phones out there. It does not sport an integrated 5G modem (it has a Balong 5000 modem outside the chipset), but in China, it starts from just €430, which is astonishing for a 5G-enabled device. For the rest, the Honor V30 is not so different from the Huawei Nova 6. It has the same top-class front camera department including an ultrawide sensor, as well as a big 4200 mAh battery. And its rear cameras are simply awesome with the 40 MP main sensor, OIS, and 3x optical zoom.

You can learn more about the Honor V30 by clicking here.

Oppo Reno Ace

OPPO Reno Ace

Just like the Realme X2 Pro, even Oppo Reno Ace is an amazing flagship killer. But while Realme X2 Pro does not come with a top-end camera, this device even offers amazing rear cameras. It sports a quad rear camera including a Sony 48 MP sensor with OIS instead of the midrange-class Samsung 64 MP sensor found on the Realme X2 Pro which does not carry OIS. However, the price of this Oppo Reno Ace is higher (but it still remains one of the best value for money smartphones): you need almost €550/$550 to grab the base variant with 8/128 GB in China. Oppo Reno Ace boasts a Snapdragon 855+ chipset, UFS 3.0 storage and even a 90 Hz AMOLED display supporting HDR.

You can learn more about the Oppo Reno Ace by clicking here.

Samsung Galaxy M30s

Samsung Galaxy M30s is your best choice in the midrange segment if you need a value for money smartphone with infinite battery life. With its huge 6000 mAh battery, it is able to last up to three days even with intensive use. It even features a pretty nice Exynos 9611 processor paired with at least 4 GB of RAM and UFS 2.1 internal storage. Samsung Galaxy M30s is equipped with a Super AMOLED display and a triple rear camera including an ultrawide sensor.

You can learn more about the Samsung Galaxy M30s by clicking here.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10

Xiaomi Mi Note 10

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is actually considered the best camera phone alongside Huawei Mate 30 Pro, but unlike the Mate 30 Pro, it has a very affordable price. You can currently get it for about €450, even though it offers a penta-camera including a 108 MP main sensor rated as one of the best sensors for mobile devices by a lot of experts. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10, also known in China as Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro, even sports a huge 5260 mAh battery that is very rare for a high-end phone. The only weak point is its hardware department since it has a Snapdragon 730G chipset instead of a Snapdragon 855+, so it is not a flagship. But that is what makes its price so interesting.

You can learn more about the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 by clicking here.

Redmi Note 8 Pro

Redmi Note 8 Pro
Redmi Note 8 Pro

Redmi Note 8 Pro is known as the affordable gaming phone because it packs the most performing processor you can currently find for less than €250 globally. We are talking about the Helio G90T which offers amazing CPU and GPU performance (it competes with the Snapdragon 730G). Redmi Note 8 Pro also packs a big 4500 mAh battery making it one of the longest-lasting devices on a single charge. On the rear side, it sports a 64 MP quad-camera. Unfortunately, its display is an IPS panel, but it has HDR and high brightness.

You can learn more about the Redmi Note 8 Pro by clicking here.

Vivo iQOO Neo 855 Racing

Are you looking for the highest performance at an affordable price but you do not like Oppo’s flagship smartphones mentioned above? Then if you are from China you have an amazing alternative for just $370/€330 (CNY 2598): the Racing Edition of the Vivo iQOO Neo 855. It is one of the most affordable smartphones to be powered by the Snapdragon 855+ SoC and it is especially meant for gamers. In all of its configurations expect the base version it even packs UFS 3.0 storage. Last but not least, it has a big 4500 mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

OPPO Reno3 Pro specs leaked: will have 90Hz OLED screen and 12GB of RAM

The OPPO Reno3 Pro is another anticipated smartphone scheduled to launch in China later this month. It will be the second smartphone powered by the new Snapdragon 765G processor after the Redmi K30 5G.

OPPO Reno3 Pro 5G

OPPO’s VP, Shen Yiren, has been dropping bits of details of the upcoming phone. We already know the phone will have a curved display with a punch hole on the right for a single camera. We also know it will have a 4025mAh battery capacity, have a thickness of 7.7 millimeters, and weight less than 180 grams. However, there are still a number of details we do not know. Thankfully, a new leak has revealed most of the key specs.

The source of the leak is Digital Chat Station and he adds a caveat that the specs are for the prototype and may be different for the final product.

According to him, the Reno3 Pro will have a 6.5-inch curved FHD+ OLED display. The screen has a hole for the selfie camera and a 90Hz refresh rate. Since it has an OLED display, we expect it to have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

There is an SM7250 (Snapdragon 765G) processor under the hood and it is paired with 12GB of RAM. There is no mention of the storage but we don’t expect less than 256GB with that amount of RAM. We also believe OPPO will announce an 8GB RAM version with 128GB of storage.

The Reno3 Pro will have quad rear cameras and the source says it is a 48MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP camera (telephoto lens), a 13MP camera (ultrawide lens) and a 2MP sensor. There is optical image stabilization but we can’t say if it is for the telephoto camera or main sensor or both. Lastly, the Reno3 Pro will support 30W fast charge which should be OPPO’s VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge fast charging technology.

OPPO Reno3 Pro specs

OPPO’s phone will go head to head with the Redmi K30 5G as mid-range 5G phones. Based on the leaked specs, both phones have their strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Reno3 Pro will have an OLED display compared to the Redmi K30 5G’s LCD display albeit with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Redmi K30 5G, on the other hand, boasts a bigger battery capacity (4500mAh) and a fast charge technology that can refill the phone in just 1 hour.

Other factors will definitely influence purchase such as price, OS, and camera performance. Nevertheless, both phones are impressive and we look forward to their arrival.

The Reno3 Pro is expected to bring along some siblings. It has also been reported that OPPO will announce another 5G phone that is powered by MediaTek’s MT6885 5G chipset. However, we do not know if it will launch alongside the Reno3 Pro or later.

OnePlus 8 Lite renders leak with a design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S11

The OnePlus X is referred to as a mid-range device but it technically isn’t. While it launched a year after the OnePlus One, it had the same Snapdragon 801 flagship processor. It has been four years now since the launch of the OnePlus X and OnePlus is yet to release a similarly priced phone. A new leak reveals we may be getting an affordable OnePlus phone which is reported to be called the OnePlus 8 Lite.

OnePlus 8 Lite

The leak is actually 3D renders of the upcoming device courtesy of OnLeaks in partnership with 91Mobiles. The images show the OnePlus 8 Lite will look like a lot of Samsung’s own upcoming phones including the Galaxy S11.

The OnePlus 8 Lite is shown to have a punch hole right in the middle just like that of the Galaxy Note 10 series. Its siblings, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will have their own punch hole in the top left and top right corners respectively.

The Lite version of the next OnePlus series not only looks different from its siblings with respect to its display. It also has a different camera design on the back. This is where OnePlus is again adopting a similar design to the upcoming Galaxy S11.

[envira-gallery id=”293816″]

The camera housing is a rectangular bump that is positioned on the left side. It is home to two cameras and an LED flash. There is no info on the camera configuration but we won’t be surprised if the secondary camera is a depth sensor instead of a telephoto or ultrawide angle camera. There is also a laser focus system flanking the cameras on the right.

The OnePlus 8 Lite has a curved back that is covered in glass. There is no fingerprint scanner on the rear neither is there one on the side. This means the device probably has an AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The phone has a USB Type-C port but no audio jack. The alert slider is on the right along with the power button while the volume keys are on the left. There are two openings for the speaker at the bottom and on the opposite side is the SIM tray.

The phone’s dimensions are 159.2 x 74 x 8.6 millimeters, making it taller than the OnePlus 7.

While the OnePlus 8 Lite is expected to be a mid-range device, we have a feeling it may actually have a flagship processor – this year’s own. We may also see the phone launch with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 765 processor.

We also do not know if it will launch alongside its siblings or get an earlier or later release date. Nevertheless, we are excited to see what OnePlus has to offer with this new device.

Apple Watch’s Emergency SOS feature saves two stranded Kayakers at sea

The Apple Watch series has been credited severally for saving lives in several ways. The latest is a report of the Emergency SOS feature coming handy for two kayakers in Puerto Rico who had gone out without wearing lifejackets and their kayaks sank.

The two men were said to be tourists who had gone kayaking off Ocean Park Beach in San Juan, Puerto. Due to hazardous water conditions and high-surf advisories, however, water overtook their kayaks. This left the two men stranded in the rough water conditions.

According to the US Coast Guard, the men were forced to swim in the water for several hours after the kayaks sank. Thankfully, one of the men was wearing an Apple Watch, which he was able to use to call emergency services with the Emergency SOS feature. With that, the Coast Guard and local police were able to locate them using a helicopter.

The Apple Watch Emergency SOS feature makes it easy for users to quickly call emergency services using the side button. The latest Watch Series 5 makes it even better by allowing users to call local emergency services when you’re in another country or region.

Apart from the emergency SOS feature, the Watch comes with other lifesaving features including a heart rate detector. The feature is credited to have saved a UK man’s life by detecting an excessively low heart rate. The fall detector feature on the Apple Watch series also did help save a man’s life in the US after he fainted and fell hard in the bathroom. The watch then called emergency services.
