The third variant of the OPPO Find X is the Super Flash Edition. This variant has the Super VOOC fast charging technology of the Lamborghini Edition and comes with 256GB of storage.

OPPO has announced today that the OPPO Find X Super Flash Edition will sell for ¥5999 (~$876) and will have its first flash sale on August 17. If you want Super VOOC charge and you don’t want to shell out a fortune for the Lamborghini Edition, you can settle for this as it sells for much less.

The OPPO Find X Super Flash Edition has the same 3,400mAh battery capacity as the Lamborghini Edition. OPPO has revealed that there are actually two 1700mAh batteries inside the phones as a safety decision.

With Super VOOC charge, the OPPO Find X Super Flash Edition can be charged from empty to full in just 35 minutes. The bundled Super VOOC charger has a power rating of 50W.

The rest of the specs are the same as that of the base model. You have a 6.42-inch display with a 93.8% screen to body ratio, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a 1080 x 2340 resolution. There is a Snapdragon 845 processor under the glass body.

The selfie camera is a 25MP f/2.0 sensor that pops out. When it does pop out, the dual rear cameras – a 16MP + 20MP combo – are also visible at the same time. The Find X also has 3D face scanning for face unlock with support for payments. There is NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB-C port for connectivity.

Meitu’s upcoming flagship smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC

Last year, in November, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meitu launched its flagship smartphone under the company’s V-series — Meitu V6. Now, the company is preparing to launch a new flagship smartphone this year.

According to the reports, the company is likely to ditch MediaTek’s processor and could instead opt for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, which powers most of the flagship phones launched this year. Notably, the Meitu V6 was powered by MediaTek’s Helio X30 chipset.

Recently, details about Meitu’s upcoming smartphone with model number MP1801 appeared online through Geekbench listing, which revealed that the phone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 processor along with 8GB RAM. Further, it mentions that the device will be running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box.

While the Geekbench listing shows the device model number, there’s no confirmation that the phone is indeed the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone. However, looking at the specifications, it’s likely the company’s flagship device.

Meitu V6, launched last year, is a luxury device which comes with a colorful hand-stitched calfskin leather that is available four different colors, 18K gold rivets on its back and gold colored metal frame. The phone also features four cameras — two on the back and two on the front side, along with four LED flash on the back panel.

At the time of launch, the Meitu V6 smartphone was priced at 5,099 Yuan (approximately $745) for the Standard Edition, while the Advanced Custom Edition costs 6,999 Yuan, which roughly converts to $1022. ZTE successfully tests the 5G network, commercial rollout set for H2 2018

The race for the adoption of 5G technology is still on, with Chinese companies well positioned to be the first to roll out the 5G network. Chinese technology company ZTE has repeatedly stated its aspiration to be one of the early birds to roll out their 5G infrastructure. The company has now announced that it has successfully completed tests of indoor 3.5 gigahertz and core fifth-generation wireless network technology in China’s third-phase national testing of the communications matrix on July 20.

The 5G tests are carried out collectively by a promotion group piloted by China’s industry and information technology ministry. According to a public message by the company on its WeChat account, the third phase will be the final stage before the technology can be commercialized.

To this end, ZTE plans to go commercial with the 5G technology with trial operation slated for the second half of this year. This will be a prelude to extensive commercial operation next year. The rollout will usher in a new phase for infrastructure construction for the next-wave technology. The total number of base stations all over China is expected to exceed 10,000, thus benefiting businesses throughout the telecommunications sector chain. 5G technology will take over from 4G and offers new opportunities in not just telecommunication but also health care, the automobile industry and several other sectors. 5G is said to be 100 times faster than the present 4G technology

Unknown Moto P30, P30 Play and P30 Note rumoured to also launch August 15

Motorola is expected to bring the Moto Z3 flagship to Lenovo’s home country of China on August 15. The Moto Z3 is expected to come with a few surprises which would set it apart from the version launched in the U.S. From the look of things, that isn’t going to be the only surprise the company will be springing up on that day as a new rumour has emerged pointing to the launch of a new P30 series made up of three models on that day.

According to a recent rumour, Motorola listed the Moto P30, Moto P30 Play and MotoP30 Note on its Chinese website as coming soon. Although screenshots of the webpage listing were shared, we couldn’t independently verify the authenticity because nothing of such was found on the Motorola China website. It is possible that the product pages were removed.

The listings are not very generous with the specifications of the models as they only show the memory and colour options of all three models that would be available to buyers. The P30 will come in a 4GB RAM + 64GB combo and a 6GB RAM + 64GB combo. The device will also come in Bright Black colour option. On the other hand, the Moto P30 Play will be available in a 4GB + 64GB combo and fans will get the chance to choose between an Ice Jade White and Bright Black colour options.

The third model which is the Moto P30 will be available in a 6GB RAM + 64GB memory variant as well as a 6GB RAM + 128GB memory variant. The P30 looks like the top end model and it will be available in Aurora, Bright Black, and Ice Jade White clours. The P30’s listing also tips the model to be available in Full Netcom Open Edition and Full Netcom Mobile Edition. The open edition may likely include compatibility with CDMA carriers in addition to GSM carriers.

Leaked photos of the upcoming Palm 2018 phone code-named “Pepito” hint at a smallish display

Recently, a new TCL-manufactured Palm 2018 phone was certified by U.S FCC where it was revealed that the phone goes by the codename- Pepito. The photos of the device have now appeared, showing the design from all angles as well as the battery.

The device is expected to come in a compact size with the screen size put at just 3.3 inches. The device will also have an HD resolution of 720 pixels. The leak also showed the battery of the Palm phone which is said to be an 800mAh cell. Furthermore, the Palm phone is tipped to run Android 8.1 Oreo from the go and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. The leak also hinted at 32GB of internal storage crammed inside the phone.

With these specs, the Palm 2018 phone is expected to be a budget phone that will have a price tag that won’t make your wallet hate you. The Palm 2018 phone is rumored to launch in the U.S. later this year via Verizon Wireless and will be available in Titanium and Gold color options.

Meizu 16 vs Xiaomi Mi 8: Design

There is no doubt that both the companies put a lot of efforts into the design of their latest flagships. Meizu 16 comes with symmetric design, it does not have a notch even though its screen-to-body ratio is one of the highest (almost the same as the Vivo Nex!). It has a ceramic-like glass back composed of 7 layers of glass, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader making its aesthetics even cleaner and more symmetric. Xiaomi Mi 8 has a good design as well with its reflective back, but it is nothing new and shares many things in common with other flagships such as Honor devices and iPhone X. So we are going to pick Meizu 16 for its originality.

Display

While Meizu 16 has better aesthetics, Xiaomi Mi 8 seems to have a better display, at least on the paper. Indeed, it features the HDR10 technology and DCI-P3 coverage which should make its colors richer than the ones of its rival. Anyways, both are Full HD+ panels with the Super AMOLED technology, so even if you choose Meizu 16, you will still get an amazing screen with vivid colors and deep blacks.

Meizu 16 vs Xiaomi Mi 8: Specs & Software

With Meizu 16, finally, Meizu switched to a flagship SoC by Qualcomm. This device is much better than every other device released by Meizu because it features the powerful Snapdragon 845. And one of its configurations has even 8 GB of RAM, the biggest quantity of volatile memory ever implemented on a mobile phone. Xiaomi Mi 8 has Snapdragon 845 as well, but just 6 GB of RAM. So Meizu 16 wins the comparison when it comes to hardware. Further, Meizu 16 features liquid cooling technology as well, which gives it an edge over Mi 8 in gaming.

In terms of software, we prefer Xiaomi Mi 8 due to its MIUI with more features and a stronger software support.

Meizu 16 vs Xiaomi Mi 8: Camera

Both handsets have stunning cameras with bright apertures, high resolutions, and important additional components. Xiaomi Mi 8 has been included in the top 10 best camera phones by DxOMark, but given the specs of Meizu 16 on the paper, we believe its camera performance will not be so different! However, until we try its camera or have enough camera samples to judge its quality, we can not pick a winner. Selfie cameras are equivalent and both stunning with their 20 MP resolutions. And both boast AI-driven algorithm to get selfies more beautiful. But note that the Xiaomi Mi 8 is the only which features 3D facial recognition for authentication. So it is safer and easier to unlock the phone by using this device. On the other hand, Meizu 16 features an in-display fingerprint reader which is still an innovative and comfortable method of authentication.l

Battery

From this point of view, Xiaomi Mi 8 should be superior as it features 400 mAh more of capacity. With just 3010 mAh, even though we still haven’t tested it, we believe that Meizu 16 will not go beyond a day of battery life with a moderately-stressed use.

Meizu 16 vs Xiaomi Mi 8: Price

For now, Meizu 16 has been launched in China only, where it has a starting price of about $395 which is very cheap. Xiaomi Mi 8 instead is available all around the world, and you can get it at different prices depending on the market. In China, it has been launched with a starting price of $421. It is very hard to pick a winner among these devices.

In my opinion, it is almost a draw, but I would choose the Mi 8 for its bigger battery and better support. However, if you can afford the Plus version of the Meizu 16, it is way better than the Mi 8 with its bigger display and bigger battery as well.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 teardown reveals its inner workings including a water cooling system

Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy Note 9 only yesterday and the device is yet to go on sale. However, the Note 9 teardown is already out, giving us a glimpse of the internals and the inner workings of the phablet. Since this is a $1000 smartphone, we expect some level of sophistication on the design. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 teardown comes courtesy of the folks at Rusian blog Hi-Tech Mail.Ru.

Externally, the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Note 8 are almost similar with only a few differences. The internal aspect seems to pack most of the upgrades, making this teardown worth giving a shot. One of the standout features inside the Note 9 is a much bigger water-cooling system. The device utilises a large copper pipe which is said to have water inside and is described as a “Notebook-class cooler”. This is said to be more efficient than the passive cooling on the on the Note 8.

Apart from the cooling system and the positioning of the rear fingerprint sensor, the Galaxy Note 9 and Note 8 are arranged in the same way. All components are glued in order to prevent moisture from building inside and also to protect the internals from taking water. Recall the Note 9 comes with an IP68 waterproof build. The connectors are rubberized, the receiver for the stylus is also glued. The stylus is also waterproof.

A few other differences between the Note 9 and Note 8 internals is in the Bluetooth-enabled S Pen stylus which is held in place more tightly and has a charging port connected to the motherboard. The earpiece is also larger which should result in topnotch call quality. There is also a bigger battery on board (4000mAh vs 3300mAh on the Note 8). In all, the Galaxy Note 9 internals are quite different from that of the Note8 even though they look like on the outside. The Note 9 also offers longer battery life not just because of its bigger battery but also as a result of a better cooling system.

The handset was recently spotted in the top 10 list of best performing Android smartphones by AnTuTu for the month of July. Recent reports have claimed that the Chinese manufacturer is now working on an upper mid-range phone called Smartisan Nut Pro 2S that will be fueled by Snapdragon 710. The rumor mill has also revealed that the Nut Pro 2S has a model number of OE106. The same smartphone has today appeared on Chinese benchmarking platform Master Lu to reveal some of its key specs.

As it can be seen in the image below, the appearance of the Smartisan Nut Pro 2S on Master Lu has revealed that its display will carry support for Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. This suggests that it will be sporting a notch-less screen that will produce 18:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 710 SoC is present under the hood of the smartphone along with 6 GB of RAM. It is recorded an overall score of 155,053 on Master Lu benchmarks.

The information of the Nut Pro 2S that have surfaced through its Master Lu listing corresponds with the specs that were recently mentioned on its box package. The configuration on the box had revealed that the phone will be arriving with 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera, 16-megapixel selfie snapper and Smartisan OS based Android.

The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S seems to be an upgraded version of Nut Pro 2 phone that was unveiled in November 2017. The handset is equipped with 5.99-inch FHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 660, 4 GB / 6 GB of RAM, 32 GB / 64 GB / 128 GB /256 GB of internal storage, 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera, 16-megapixel front camera and 3,500mAh battery.

After teasing the launch of a new variant of Mi MIX 2S, Xiaomi has today officially announced a new Mi MIX 2S Emerald Green color variant. The smartphone will be available for purchase in China from 14th August.

Xiaomi partnered with Dunhuang Research Institue to jointly develop this new Mi MIX 2S Emerald Green variant. The company says that it was inspired by the natural gemstone color of the Dunhuang murals.

Alleged Sony Xperia XZ3 specifications sheet leaked

Sony Xperia XZ3 is the upcoming flagship phone from the company that is heavily pegged to get announced at the end of this month. Multiple leaks have revealed the specifications of the smartphone in the past few months. The Xperia XZ3 was also found listed on the website of a U.K retailer in July. One of the rumors have claimed that the handset could be equipped with a single 48-megapixel camera on its rear. However, a leaked specifications sheet that has surfaced now states that it will be equipped with dual rear cameras.

The specs sheet of the Xperia XZ3 reveals that its dual camera setup includes f/1.8 aperture 19-megapixel primary sensor and f/1.6 aperture 12-megapixel secondary sensor. It features a front-facing camera of 13-megapixel. The newly spotted leaked document suggests that the XZ3 will be sporting the same dual camera and selfie snapper that is available on the Xperia XZ2 Premium.

The Xperia XZ2 came with 4 GB of RAM, but the successor model is expected to arrive with 6 GB of RAM. It will have an internal storage of 128 GB and a microSD card slot for additional storage.

The Xperia XZ3 will be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. The 5.7-inch display that supports FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9 that is available on the XZ2 will be also arriving on the successor handset. The leak also reveals that the Xperia XZ3 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor as it is expected sport to measure 10.1mm in thickness and weigh 183 grams. The XZ2 has a thickness of 11.1 and it weighs 198 grams.

Meizu 16 vs OnePlus 6: Design

Despite the absence of a notch, Meizu 16 is still a very compact device with extremely thin bezels (hands on). Indeed, it is even smaller than the OP6 which is equipped with a notch. Further, it has an impressive design thanks to its ceramic-like glass back. When it comes to aesthetics, I would personally pick the Meizu 16 due to its originality, as the company has managed to release an outstanding device even though it has not followed the notch bandwagon.

Display

The display sizes are similar, with OnePlus 6 being a bit taller due to its notch. Both feature a Super AMOLED panel and a Full HD+ resolution, and there are no noticeable differences in the viewing quality. Both are high-end panels but they can not compete with the ones of the top flagship phones as they lack QHD+ resolution and HDR compliance. However, you still make a great choice if you buy one of these devices for its display.

Meizu 16 vs OnePlus 6: Specs & Software

Both Meizu 16 and OnePlus 6 are equipped with the most powerful Qualcomm SoC in the market: the octa-core Snapdragon 845 which reaches a max clock frequency of 2.8 GHz. And both come with 6 or 8 GB of RAM depending on the variant. So, even from the performance point of view, they are very similar. Note that Meizu 16 is the only one to feature a liquid cooling system, so it should provide better gaming performance in long gaming sessions.

Also, for software Meizu’s Flyme OS isn’t as popular as OP’s OxygenOS. Further, OP6 is confirmed to receive Android Pie update very soon (by fall 2018) whereas we are not sure when Meizu will update its flagship to the new Android OS.

Meizu 16 vs OnePlus 6: Camera

Without testing the Meizu 16 (it has just been announced), we can not give a definitive verdict about cameras. But on the paper, OnePlus 6 seems to be better, except for the fact that it does not feature a laser autofocus mechanism, unlike its opponent. OP6 has a brighter aperture (on both sensors) and a very efficient OIS even in 4K videos. We doubt that Meizu 16 will reach the same level in every environment.

Battery

OnePlus 6 has a bigger battery. So, even on the battery life side, it should be a better handset. It should last for an entire day without issues if you don’t stress it too much. We do not believe that Meizu 16 will have a disappointing battery life, but it is unlikely that it will reach its opponent’s level due to its 300 mAh less capacity.

Meizu 16 vs OnePlus 6: Price

OnePlus 6 wins in most categories above even though the Meizu 16 may look more innovative with its design and in-display fingerprint reader. But Meizu 16 has a more affordable price, at least in China (as for now it is China exclusive). You can get the Meizu 16 for just $395 in China, while OP6 started from $500. With the actual prices, Meizu 16 definitely has a better value for money.
