ZTE has come up with a number of great smartphones this year, including the bezelless ZTE Nubia Z9. But the company is also keen to release more flagships in its other lineup. Today, we have come across a set of alleged pictures of the upcoming ZTE flagship and from what we can see, the company could be taking some inspiration from Apple for its design.
The pictures reveal that the new ZTE flagship will have a strikingly similar design as the iPhone 6. The edges are curved and you can also see the same round home button below the display. However, the bezels are quite thin and the front of the phone looks good. The power and the home button are located on the right, while the SIM slots are located on the left side. Looking at the design, it could be a unibody structure.
The back is also quite interesting. You can see two different cameras at the back, much like the dual camera unit that we saw in the Honor 6 Plus. Below the camera unit, there is a dual LED flash and even below it is the ZTE logo. We can’t find any speakers at the back, so it must probably be at the bottom, alongside the microUSB port.
Overall, these renders look quite robust and well designed. However, as always, we will advise you to take this leak with a pinch of salt considering we haven’t heard any official news from the company till now.
Lenovo has been quite dominant player in the Chinese smartphone market for the past several years. The manufacturer has tons of different devices in its portfolio, but it still feels that the company cannot produce a device that everyone desires like Xioami is capable of doing so. This time around we are looking at the Lenovo K3 Note, which is said to directly compete with the Meizu M1 Note and other cheap, but good phones. Did Lenovo make it right? This is what we are going to do in this full review of the Lenovo K3 Note.
The specs are very good for the device that costs just over $160. However, we need to see how the smartphone performs in reality.
UNBOXING
1 of 7
The device comes in a simple, yet good looking box, which has some main specs printed on it. This is a Chinese version of the smartphone as you may have noticed.
There is nothing fancy about the presentation as the device comes with the usual stuff you would expect.
Packaging contents:
– 2A charging brick (US plug on our review unit)
– USB cable (nothing fancy, just Lenovo branding on it)
– some Chinese instruction manuals
Overall, the contents seem to be made out of high quality materials and I have no complaints. Well, I’ve got used to the Chinese paperwork included, so that’s not an issue anymore.
DESIGN
The device has the screen size of 5.5 inches and that makes the overall physical size bigger than the compact devices out there. The Lenovo did not cut the bezels to the extreme here either, but a week of of usage of the device made me used to it. Well, as the name implies, you are getting a “Note” device with the Lenovo K3 Note.
On the top, you can find an earpiece along with the 5MP selfie snapper. Stay tuned to see how it performs.
On the bottom side there are 3 capacitive buttons. My complaint here is that they are not backlit and have no reflective coating whatsoever (e.g. my vivo Xshot, which I’m still using as my daily driver has the reflective capacitive keys). Thus, it’s hard to see it in dim environments. On the other hand, it takes no time remembering the button placement, so there is no deal breaker here.
The backplate is made out of quality plastic. It is not glossy and does not attract fingerprints and smudges. Thank you, Lenovo for not implementing a fingerprint magnet. Our review unit comes in a flashy yellow colour, which definitely attracts some attention.
The device also comes in a white colour option.
On the top left corner there is a 13MP shooter along with single tone dual LEDs. Moving to the right you will find a noise cancelling mic and the speaker grill. It’s worth mentioning that the speaker is wisely located on the top right side and therefore it’s not that easy to cover it while operating the device with both hands.
The speaker quality is very good and one of the best I’ve heard on sub-$150 smartphone. It has some rich tones, decent bass and pronounced treble sound. Make sure you check out the video review to hear the sound test.
However, the sound easily gets muffled if you cover the speaker up. Still, since it’s been positioned in the right place, there will not be many times when you cover it.
On the right side there is a volume rocker and the power on/off switch. They are made out of plastic, but have a great tactile response. Also, the placement seems to be convenient as the keys are easy to reach with your thumb.
On the top you can find a micro USB port along with the 3.5mmheadset jack. It’s a personal taste, it’s just a right placement for me.
There is nothing on the right side and just a mic on the bottom of the smartphone.
Taking the back cover off is easy. Under the hood you can find a Micro SD card (tested and it is working great with both Sandisk and Samsung 64GB Class 10 cards). along with two MicroSIM card slots.
One SIM slot supports 2G/3G/4G networks and another supports only 2G. Checked both slots and the dual standby mode works perfect. Also, the 3000mAh battery is removable.
However, there is a huge disappointment here. First, you have to remove the battery in order to take the Micro SD card out. But… it is impossible to take it out with your fingers! I don’t know if it is just my review unit, but it is really annoying as can’t hot swap the battery and always need to look for a knife or other tool to remove. Just ridiculous. After taking it out for a few times it seems that it has become a bit easier, but still tough to remove!!! Never seen this before.
Overall, it is a nice looking phone with a great build quality, design and convenient button placement. And yes, everyone will notice you with that flashy yellow colour. You may need to stretch your fingers to reach the top side of the screen, but this is what you have to deal when you own a 5.5″ device.
DISPLAY
1 of 3
The 5.5″ display is sharp, vivid and has great viewing angles. However, it is not the brightest panel I’ve seen and it looks quite dim outdoors, but still visible. Overall, I like what I’m seeing here.
UI, APPS and PERFORMANCE
1 of 4
The Lenovo K3 Note runs the Vibe UI on top of Android 5.0 Lolipop and Google Services pre-installed out of the box. It is a nice looking implementation of Android with some fancy icons and added functionality like gesture controls. It runs smoothly most of the times. However, I encountered with some minor hiccups a few times, but nothing to be a deal breaker.
1 of 8
As usual to the Chinese manufacturers, there is no app drawer, but you have tons of customisation options. You can choose from tons of wallpapers, themes, fonts, icon packs, widgets, scroll animations and so on. I was really surprised by the amount of stuff that is available online. All in all, you can definitely make the UI look the way you want or just instal a third-party launcher if you don’t like it.
1 of 12
Scrolling through menus is fast and smooth. There are some basic stock Lenovo apps pre-installed. They have a good looking minimal design and run without hiccups.
BENCHMARKS
1 of 7
As far as synthetic benchmarks go, the device manages to get a really high score of over 46000 on Antutu 64-bit benchmarking app, which is even higher then some great devices with the Snapdragon 801 chip. Pretty impressive for a device with such a low price tag.
1 of 4
To support the high score, the Lenovo K3 Note handles graphically intensive games without a sweat. Well, there were some skipped frames there and there, but nothing annoying.
MULTIMEDIA
1 of 4
The Lenovo’s music app is easy to use, runs smoothly and has tons of settings for a pre-installed player. You can adjust the sound settings and do a lot of other things here. What is interesting is that you can simply put in a search the song you want and play it or download it for free! Well, this is a Chinese ROM and this is what’s going on in China. I’m not sure if it’s legal though, but whatever…
The sound output via loudspeaker is great. Also, has quite the balanced and rich sound.
As far as the sound quality via headphones, it is not the best I’ve heard (compared to the vivo Xshot and the HTC One M9), but definitely good for a budget device.
1 of 1
Using a gallery app is a blast. It runs fast and I didn’t have any hiccups. However, it didn’t seem that the device came with decent a video player preinstalled, so I had to download a third-party one.
The 1080p video playback is good (used the MX Video Player) and scrolling throughout the footage is smooth.
The FM radio is also included and runs well (headphones required).
CONNECTIVITY AND CALL QUALITY
I checked all possible connectivity options and can assure that everything is running fantastic. It takes just a second to get the GPS lock outside and offline GPS apps run very accurately. I compared the lock speeds to the vivo Xshot, which has Snapdragon 801 and they were identical. It seems that Mediatek’s GPS struggles are the thing of the past.
Other connectivity options like Bluetooth and Wifi were excellent. I was even surprised by a great Wifi range the device is capable of.
The call quality using both earpiece and loudspeaker is excellent on both ends. The voices are clear, natural and loud enough to hear.
CAMERA
1 of 6
The camera app is simple and it is not overloaded with features. You can adjust some basic settings and select from a few different modes. The shutter speed is not the fastest I’ve seen, but still very good.
PICTURE QUALITY
1 of 28
As far as the picture quality, it’s just mediocre. The shots taken outside with natural lighting have plenty of detail and colours look natural. However, my experience was that you have to hold the phone steady to avoid blurry shots. In addition, the camera struggles with the dynamic range big time. Even HDR mode didn’t help me get some more even exposure on all objects in the picture.
Once you take the device inside with a lot of light, you can capture some nice looking images with a great amount of resolved detail. If you manage to do that, you can definitely achieve some sharp looking results.
Low light shots don’t have much detail and there is a lot of visible noise. However, the embedded dual LED flash (single tone) manages to light the dark scene up quite well. But again, here you have to be even more careful about holding the device steady as the shutter speed slows down.
The 5MP selfie shooter is actually pretty good. It has wide angle lens, decent amount of detail, so it should be enough for those social media pictures.
The video recording is actually quite terrible. First, the footage does not look sharp at all as the whole scene looks washed out. The colours look okay, but the software seems to be struggling with the auto-exposure. In addition, the camera struggles with the focus and I didn’t manage to turn on the tap-to-focus feature. It’s not the worst camrecorder I’ve seen, but it is far from the best.
I believe that it has something to do with the software since the the sensor is capable of producing average and sometimes even good looking pictures. Hopefully, Lenovo will fix this via software updates and we will update this review accordingly.
The 3000mAh removable battery performs really well. It gets you through the day even if you are a heavy user. During my testing period I managed to get even 2 days of use. The things I usually do involves a bit of everything. It includes web browsing, Youtube, social media, taking some pictures, talking on the phone for around 40 mins etc.
CONCLUSIONS
Finally we have come to the point where we need to summarise all the ins and outs about the Lenovo K3 Note smartphone and answer the main question: Is it worth your money?
Overall, the Lenovo K3 Note is a great buy for the price of just over $160. It has a huge vibrant screen and media consumption like watching HD movies is a blast. To make it even more pleasant, Lenovo K3 Note has a great loudspeaker for this price category of smartphones.
In addition, the device has a nice looking UI, which is built on the Android 5.0 Lolipop and Google services pre-installed out of the box. What is more, the 64-bit MT6752 chip proved to be reliable and offers a great performance. Furthermore, I had no issues with connectivity options and was even impressed with the excellent Wifi range. Also, I was really happy with the battery performance and the ability to add some extra storage via the microSD card slot.
However, the camera is a hit or miss and the video recording is quite bad. Thus, I would not choose this device as my main camera device for a trip. What is more, the capacitive keys do not a backlight and have no reflective coating.
Still, despite a few shortcomings, the device is definitely an impressive piece of hardware for price of just over $160 and I would definitely recommend it. By the way, it turns out that Gearbest if offering the Lenovo K3 Note for just $159.99 as a limited time offer!
Please let us know if you find a lower price of Lenovo K3 Note and we will edit the article accordingly!
ZOPO’s Color series new products will be released very soon. There’s mass press coverage of the product release on the Internet. According to the previous media exposure, the new product release place is selected in Monaco to take advantage of the MedPi 2015 in Monaco. The 64-bit 4G LTE colorful smartphone Color C will be released on the opening day of MedPI on May 26.
We have seen some innovative products from Gionee in the past few years, like the once world’s thinnest smartphone – the Gionee Elife S5.1. While the Elife series have several super slim smartphones, it looks like the company is focusing more on the features and overall specs in this series in 2015. The upcoming Gionee Elife E8 does look promising, but earlier today, we came across another potential product from the company called as the Gionee M5 that could be quite popular.
The highlight of the phone is going to be its dual battery design. Yes, the Gionee M5 is said to come with two different batteries inside, which should provide up to four days of battery life. Moreover, users can even use the phone with one of those batteries, which means the phone will still be running when the second one is kept for charging. So, with the two fully charged batteries, users should be able to get about four full days of charge.
While we don’t know the rest of the features of this Gionee M5 handset, this alone should be garner a lot of attention among buyers. Battery life has always been one area where smartphone manufacturers have yet to find the ideal solution, but it looks like Gionee may have made a break through.
Of course, its still early to say whether how long the phone will last with both the batteries fully charged. However, if this turns out to be true and if the batteries are bigger than at least 2500 mAh, then four day battery life shouldn’t be an impossible task.
Anyways, the company is yet to reveal more official details about the device. So stay tuned for more information in the coming days.
Meizu devices traditionally have power buttons placed on the top side of the device. This wasn’t a big issue when the phones were less than 5-inches in size, but even in large screen devices like the Meizu MX4 Pro, the company continued with the tradition which kind of ruined the overall experience.
However, it looks like Meizu may have finally decided to follow the crowd as a new leak of the upcoming Meizu M1 Note 2 handset reveals a side placed power button. Despite the resemblance to the M1 Note, from the power button placement, we know that this is a new Meizu handset and not an existing one.
The one who leaked this picture also reveals that this is the gray version of the Blue Charm Note 2 handset. And the color does looks extremely good on the device. It looks like the phone continues with the iPhone 5C like unibody design. Unfortunately, at this moment, we have very little details about the configuration of the Blue Charm Note 2. Also, earlier reports have suggested that this could be just a variant of the device and not exactly a successor to the existing Meizu M1 (Blue Charm) Note, since the phone is only about six months old.
However, the leakster further confirms that we should see the device on the June 2 conference, which is just a week away. So, expect a lot more details in the coming days.
Blackview has just released a brand new youth focused smartphone in the market called as the Blackview Zeta. The device features decent specifications but comes with an attractive body with multi-color options making the overall package attractive.
The Blackveiw Zeta sports a compact 5-inch 720p display. Under the hood, the phone comes with MT6592M octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. While this isn’t the fastest or the latest processor in the market, its capable enough to handle your everyday tasks. There’s further 1GB RAM on board along with 8GB of internal storage further expandable via MicroSD.
As for the camera, you get an 8MP shooter at the back with ZETA true LED flash and a 5MP shooter up front, good enough for your selfies. The phone comes with a 2050mAh battery and features a number of gesture functions like double tap to lock. It will run on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The phone supports dual SIM dual standby (one standard SIM and one Micro SIM). The Blackview Zeta is available in five different bright colors such as Apple Green, Lemon Yellow, Pacific Dark Blue, Pearl White and Peal Pink.
A few weeks before MWC, there was a massive leak which revealed a number of potential devices that could have been launched at the tech event. In the list of devices leaked, we had spotted the Lenovo Vibe S1 too. But apart from the Lenovo Vibe Shot, we didn’t see any new Vibe devices at MWC.
Today, we have come across a new poster which confirms the existence of the previously leaked Lenovo Vibe S1. The device is said to be targeted at the young generation crowd and hence, will be available in a number of different colors such as purple, pink and light blue.
The poster reveals that the phone will have a unique S shaped design for its back. In the render that can be seen in the bottom left corner, the back is curved. It is also said that the Vibe S1 should have a powerful camera which will further attract a lot of trendy and young customers who love to take pictures.
Unfortunately, apart from this poster, we have very little details about the device. But since we are hearing about the Lenovo VIbe S1 once again, expect more details in the next few weeks.
Vivo officially unveiled the Vivo X5Pro flagship on May 13. At the time of launch, the device was not yet available for sale. However, today at 10AM the Vivo X5Pro flagship finally went on sale for just 2598 Yuan in China.
The company has made sure that the device offers tremendous value for the price you pay. The phone comes with 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. The Super AMOLED display is pretty decently sized at 5.2-inches and will be extremely sharp, thanks to its full HD 1080p resolution.
One of the highlights of the Vivo X5Pro is its camera. The phone features a 13MP rear shooter with 5 element lens protected by Sapphire Glass. It even supports PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) which is reportedly faster than the iPhone 6’s unit. Even the front camera is pretty good, as the 8MP shooter can take up to 32MP resolution selfies. The same camera can also act as the IRIS recognition unit for securing data and apps inside the device.
Finally, the beautiful 2.5D dual glass design and the metal frame makes the device an extremely good package for its price. Unfortunately, the company is yet to announce if it plans to release the phone outside of China.
From all the leaks that have been going around on the internet in the past few days, the Gionee Elife E8 is turning out to be quite a powerful device. We have seen some unofficial renders leaked earlier which showed of the beautiful all metal frame of the device. Even Gionee revealed a few powerful details about its upcoming flagship via its Weibo account in the past few days.
The Gionee Elife E8 is said to come with a original lossless zoom, which should take detailed pictures with negligible loss in quality. The company revealed via its Weibo account that the phone will be able to capture every little detail with its lossless zoom camera.
The company has already officially revealed that the phone will have the world’s fastest mobile imaging unit, with super fast phase focusing and closed loop motor. In a couple of teaser posters, the company tries to explain that the phone can even capture ultra fast activities like an objects splashing in water.
The Gionee Elife E8 is said to sport an all metal body with a dedicated camera button and a rear placed fingerprint sensor. Its 23MP camera unit reportedly takes pictures up to 100MP in resolution, a first for a smartphone camera. Other specs include MT6795, 3GB RAM, 2K display and a large 3250mAh battery.
Overall, the phone looks like a pretty good package. We expect more details from the company pretty soon.
The Elephone P4000 currently on pre sale until 30th May for just $129.99 looks to be a decent spec phone for the money the features include.
A 4400mAh lithium ion polymer battery that is claimed can be fully charged in around 2 hours and thanks to low energy consumption standby time is up to 330 hours.
The phone also features 5V2A quick charging for quicker and safer charging Compared to standard phones, Elephone advise that it can be charged to 75% power in just 1.5 hours.
The P4000 features android 5.1 for improved stability, reduced power consumption, and an improved clean user interface. The P4000 features the Mediatek MT6735 64-bit and has dual SIM cards it works on FDD and TDD 4G modes as well as GSM bands.
The phone also features a Samsung rear camera that is supposed to make taking photos in low light a lot better giving more detail and less noise. The screen is 5″ HD 1280×720 resolution screen with up to 294 ppi, hopefully it will be a nice clear and bright unit, when the display is off the screen looks to have no bezels (when powered up the bezels become visible).
As mentioned above the phone comes with Android 5.0 installed, I hope that Elephone will continue to help devs bring other operating systems to their phones like they have with the P6000 and P7000 and their implementation of Cyanogenmod CM12.1

According to the latest reports, Meizu is busy preparing multiple products for launch in June. We already know that the company might release the Meizu Blue Charm Note 2 next month. But yesterday, a new certified Weibo account came up on the social networking site with the name Meizu Accessories and revealed four new posters for the June 2 conference.
The posters are teasers for four different products. The posters reveal that on June 2, the company will release products related to Wi-Fi (Meizu Router), charging (new power bank) and two other products, which could be a smart band and a fan. It looks like the company is following a similar trend to Xiaomi. So, we could see products which directly compete with Xiaomi’s existing product range.
June 2 is not too far away, so we expect more details pretty soon.

Zeaplus is one of those Chinese companies, which is not shy of taking a lot of inspiration from the well established companies and their products. However, the manufacturer seems to be putting a lot of effort in making quality products for a very low price. The Zeaplus has just announced a new gadget in their lineup – the Zeaplus Watch DM360.
You guess it right, it is a Motorola Moto 360 inspired smartwatch. Still, the device offers a variety of specs for the price of just $99.
The new smartwatch has a 1.22 inches TFT touchscreen, which has a resolution of 240×204 pixels. In addition to this, the device has an IP53 certification meaning that it is waterproof, dustproof, rainproof and sweat proof.
Also, the device is made out of quality stainless steel material, which provides sturdiness and gives that premium look and feel.
The new Zeaplus smartwatch has great features, which include a heart rate monitor, pedometer and sleep monitor. Moreover, the device reminds you when you sit too much and thus encourages you to take walk or exercise. What is more, the smartwatch has a bluetooth connectivity, which allows you to interact with your smartphone and do tricks like controlling music, answering calls via embedded mic etc. The device has a 320mAh battery, which should last you up to two days of normal use.
The Zeaplus Watch DM360 turns out to be a great offering considering features/price ration. You can buy this smartwatch directly from company’s website for just $99. In addition to a great price, you are getting a 2 years warranty from the manufacturer and shipping from the EU, meaning that there will be no import tax/VAT fees upon delivery.
Today we have smartphones, which are full of features and everything, but you have to admit that there is one particular department that lacks innovation – the battery. Indeed, manufacturers introduce various power management modes, chip makers produce some more power efficient processors. However, that does not seem to be enough.
Then the manufacturers decided to release models with huge battery capacity, which naturally helps having a better battery life. There have been many of tries, but it seems that quite unknown Chinese manufacturer Innos wants to take the stage with the biggest battery capacity ever – 6000mAh.
Actually, the company had its presence in MWC in Barcelona this year. Finally, the company released the device to the Chinese audience.
The Innos D6000 has the total battery capacity of 6000Ah. In order to achieve that, the manufacturer uses a unique “Double cell structure” technology. It comprises of two batteries, one being an internal carrying the 2480mAh capacity and another being an external replaceable 3520mAh juice pack. What is more, this great tech allows user to swap the external battery without shutting down the device (since the internal one is keeping the lights on). And yes, this works vice versa too.
The company asserts that this enormous battery will let the user enjoy 3-5 days of heavy use and more than 60 days of standby time.
In addition to this, manufacturer thought about the charging process too as the device uses a dual-channel intelligent polar or DuoCharge technology. It means that it uses the built-in chip with current allocation algorithms, which allow parallel charging of two batteries. Also, this tech is meant to reduce the heat while charging and prolong battery life.
As far as specs go, it is no slouch either. More precisely, it is a great mid-range device on paper. The Innos D6000 has a Japanese-made JDI 5.2-inch 1080p resolution screen (covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3). Furthermore, the device spots a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 1.8GHz octa-core chip, 3 GB of RAM, 32GB of storage (not clear if it expandable),dual SIM dual standby mode (both slots support 4G network on 20 different bands). As far as imaging capabilities go,the smartphone has a 16MP Omnivision sensor, which has F/2.2 aperture and 85 degrees angle lens. Also, there is a 5MP shooter on the front. As far as software goes, it runs Android 5.0 out of the box. Last but not least the device has dimensions of 144 × 72.2 × 11.9. Finally, it has the USB 3.1 Type-C connection port.
Innos D6000 was put on sale on company’s official website, but it seems that it is not working properly. Still, the device is said to hit the shelves in early June and it will cost just 1799 Yuan, which translates to just $290!
In addition, Innos revealed that the D6000 will have a Mediatek version (model number D6000m), which have just 2GB of RAM. This version is said to cost less than 1000 Yuan or $161!
The amazingly huge battery, great specs and decent looking design makes this device a steal for such a low price. There is no word on international availability or pricing, but we are pretty sure that the resellers will pick this one up as the 6000mAh battery will attract a lot of consumers. Any takers?
Mlais M7 is a big competitor of Ulefone Be Touch, they have similar specifications and price. The both has 5.5-inch HD screen, along with MTK MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM, 13-megapixel sony rear camera. Now, we have got the benchmark scores from Mlais. Here is the screenshot:
Mlais M7 Antutu benchmark score is 48262, it is really good value as a high-end Android smartphone. The powerful 64-bit MTK MT6752 processor and 3GB RAM help the flagship gets the benefit and only has to handle the pixels of a 720HD display rather than a FHD panel which should give it a head start over the Elephone P7000.
Gionee is one of those Chinese manufacturers that some international users may have heard of. The company is know for producing very slim devices and at one point the manufacturer was even known for the slimmest device on the planet (Gionee Elife S 5.5 and 5.1).
This time around we are talking about the upcoming Gionee E8 as the alleged renders have leaked online. As the render suggests, we are seeing a very slim all-metal device, which comes in gold colour. In addition to this, the device may carry a powerful camera as it has a dedicated camera shutter button.
What is more, the upcoming Gionee E8 uses a 2K resolution Amoled display (the size unknown yet). Under the hood it spots MediaTek MT6795 octa-core chip (2.0GHz frequency), has 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (no word on expandability). Moreover, the device carries a 23MP shooter on the back, which is allegedly capable of taking 100MP pictures! On the front, there is a respectable 8MP shooter. All of this hardware is powered by the Amigo 3.0 UI, which is based on the Android 5.0 Lolipop out of the box. The device has measurements of 164.0 × 82.3 × 9.6mm and weights 207g. Last but not least a built-in 3250mAh battery is running the show.
The new Gionee E8 shapes up to be a great device both inside and out. It offers a premium design with some awesome specs. There is no word on the availability neither in China nor internationally though. We will keep you posted for any updates on this exciting new device.
It seems that the Chinese smartphone industry is a bit crazy as far as extremely thin bezels go. Well, the craziness continue to the efforts of producing a true bezel less smartphone. It seems that so far the ZTE’s subtend Nubia has achieved the best result in the market with its top tier flagship device – Nubia Z9.
As usual, China was the first country to get this device as it was launched today. However, hot gadgets are becoming hard to get as Nubia Z9 was sold out in just 10 mins!
Besides being the closest implementation to the bezel less smartphone on the market, the Nubia Z9 carries some bleeding-edge specs. It comes with a 5.2 inches (74.0% screen-to-body ratio) 1080p display, a top-notch Snapdragon 810 chip (with some custom implementations to avoid the overheating issues), 32 GB of storage, 3 GB of RAM for the cheaper Classic edition or 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM for the Exclusive & Elite editions. What is more, the device has a 16MP/8MP camera combo on the back and front, respectively. The smartphone is powered by Android 5.0.2 Lolipop out of the box and the non-removable 2900 mAh battery is running the show.
The Zte Nubia Z9 prices start at 3499 Yuan (around $645) for Classic Edition, which is really expensive in such a cheap gadgets land as China. Still, bezel less display may be worth that money for a lot of Chinese.
So far it is hard to get this exciting smartphone via third-party resellers. However, some of them have already listed it for pre-order, but the prices are very steep, which exceed $630. Well, this is what you would need to pay if you really want to show off with the bezel less Nubia Z9. Do you think that bezel less smartphones are worth all the hype? Today we have smartphones, which are full of features and everything, but you have to admit that there is one particular department that lacks innovation – the battery. Indeed, manufacturers introduce various power management modes, chip makers produce some more power efficient processors. However, that does not seem to be enough.
Then the manufacturers decided to release models with huge battery capacity, which naturally helps having a better battery life. One the other hand, the more cells you need to power up, the more time it takes. The solution is the quick charging technology, mostly touted by Oppo and Qualcomm. However, another chip maker Mediatek has some great news as it is ready to launch a new technology.
The company has introduced a Pump Express Plus fast charge technology, which supports its MT6595, MT6732 and newer chips.
According to Mediatek, the new technology will have 3 charging modes:
Normal mode : 5V – 1.67A (power of 8.35 watts)
Turbo 1 : 7V – 1.67A (power of 11.69 watts)
Turbo 2 : 9V – 1.67A (power of 15.03 watts)
It is not detailed how exactly these modes are going to be used, but the numbers look impressive. 5 minutes of charge should give you at least 2 hours of talk and 30 minutes will pump up your phone to more than 75%. Thus, this charging technology is said to enhance the charging speed by 45% over the conventional chargers.
