So far the Meizu MX4 has been a success with over 4 million phones pre-ordered 72 hours since its launch on September 2.
The first release was the black version. Now, a white version has been released and here are snapshots of it.
Just like the black edition, the white version has round edges and a frame made of airplane magnalium alloy. The narrow frame has a thickness of 2.6mm. There is a difference though. In the white version, the rear case is made of skin-like fiber and the metal frame is covered by a white coating.
As for the specs, the Meizu MX4 has a 5.36-inch screen (1920 x 1152), a 2mp/20.7mp dual-camera, the MT6595 octa-core chipset, 2GB RAM, 16/32/64GB ROM, and 3100mAh battery. Its OS is the Android 4.4.2-based Flyme 4.0.
Hardware: The Moto X G2 (formerly known as the Moto X+1) uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core chipset (2.5GHz). Although it is not the most powerful processor around, it is still enough to let this phone considered to be a flagship device. It also has 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. It is not clear whether it supports MMC5.0 standard. This phone also sports a 13mp main camera and 2mp front camera.
The Moto X sported a RGB Amoled Advanced display screen, but this time, the Moto X G2 uses a 5.2-inch Amoled display screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The Moto X G2 still follows the Moto’s traditional design during the Google Era, so, of course, its processor is the Android 4.4.4. It is also powered by a 2300mAh battery, which is a bit small for a phone with a 5.2-inch screen.
Now that Coolpad has officially launched the Dashen F2, let’s see what kind of cellphone it is. This 999 RMB (162.84 USD) 4G cellphone uses the MT6592 and MT6290 chipsets. It also has 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB ROM. It has a great specs that fit its price.
The Coolpad Dashen F2 sports a 13mp main camera that does not stand out due to the phone’s 8.8mm thickness. Its camera is a Sony CMOS camera with f/2.0 aperture, that has a focal length of 28mm at most and 3.9mm focal distance at the nearest.
The Coolpad Dashen F2’s front camera is a 5mp second-gen BSI camera with a 22mm wide angle. It also supports beauty enhancement.
Like the Dashen F1, the USB port is located at the bottom of the phone while the earphone jack is located at the top.
It was rumoured that the Meizu MX4 Pro would use the HiSilicon Kirin 920 octa-core processor and that its camera pixels would be decreased to 16mp, but industry insider Bo Jiutang put those rumors to rest. In his Weibo account, the analyst said that the size of the MX4 Pro’s screen and camera specifications has not changed, and that its processor will be the Samsung Exynos 5430 octa-core chipset.
A lot of rumors and reports regarding the MX4 Pro’s specs have scattered online. Previous reports said that it would sport a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1536 touch screen, use the 2GHz Kirin 920, use a 16mp IMX240 sensor for the rear camera and 2mp IMX208 lens for the front camera, and support smart beauty enhancement.
However, Bo Jiutang denied these rumors saying that the specifications for the camera and screen have not changed and that the MX4 Pro will use the Samsung Exynos 5430 octa-core chipset. He also explained two reasons why Meizu will not use the Kirin 920: First, HiSilicon is a strategic weapon for Huawei right now. Second, Huawei’s technology is not compatible with devices from other manufacturers right now.
When Apple added a 64-bit chip to the iPhone 5, it was a start of a new battle as more companies started announcing their own plans to release 64-bit phones. A few days ago, industry insiders revealed that ZOPO will soon release an octa-core 64-bit smartphone.
ZOPO’s latest phone, the Mini Hei 3
Except for the A3, many of the phones that ZOPO has released in the last several years such as the Mini Hei 2X used processors from MTK. ZOPO’s first 4G smartphone, the Mini Hei 3 also uses an LTE chipset from MTK. Therefore, it should not be surprising ZOPO and MTK continue their partnership with the former’s first 64-bit phone. Both the MT6795 and the MT6752 are 64-bit processors so ZOPO’s new phone may use one of these. They are also octa-core chipsets. Since this is going to be a flagship phone, it is more likely that ZOPO will use the MT6795. This phone will also be ZOPO’s first device to have a fingerprint scanner.
Lenovo’s 4G cellphone, the A606, can finally be bought online as a bare version of the phone has already been listed in online store, JD, for 799 RMB.
The Lenovo A606 is said to be a “dual-4G” phone, meaning that it is compatible with China Mobile and China Unicom 4G internet. Actually, this phone only supports TD-LTE and FDD-LTE internet as well as WCDMA and GSM. It also has a single SIM card slot. As for voice technology, it uses the CSFB solution. Its processor is the MTK6582 quad-core chipset (1.3GHz).
This phone’s core specs are not as great as the 499 RMB (81.34 USD) A360T. Besides its internet compatibilities, its screen is also pretty good. It sports a 5-inch IPS screen with FWVGA resolution (854 x 480). It also has 512M RAM and 4G ROM as well as a .3mp/5mp dual-camera. It is powered by a 2000 mAh battery and does not have a noise-cancelling microphone. Its OS is the Android 4.42.
ONN, which has not released a new cellphone in China for a long time, has revealed a new cellphone called the ONN V9 Only and it looks completely different from the V9.
The ONN V9 Only sports a 5.5-inch qHD display screen (960 x 540). Although its resolution is not high, it should be enhanced by its use of OGS technology. Its processor is the 1.3GHz MTK6582 quad-core chipset. It also has 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM as well as a 2400mAh battery. It also sports a 3mp/8mp dual-camera.
Unfortunately, this phone does not support LTE internet but only WCDMA/GSM dual-SIM. It also uses the Android 4.42 as its OS. It has a thickness of only 7.9mm and has a very clean and simple design. It is available in black and white.
Like the rest of ONN’s recent products, there are no plans to release the V9 Only in China.
Most of the important information regarding Pioneer Mobile’s newest phone have already been “leaked” at Suning. The Pioneer K88L, which will come out on September 15, will sport a 5.5-inch screen like the K68W. It will also be Pioneer’s first 4G smartphone.
The Pioneer K88L’s selling point is its internet specs. Its processor is the MT6592 octa-core chipset (cortex-A7, 1.7Ghz). It also uses the MT6290 baseband. Pioneer also revealed that this phone could also support five mode and 13 frequencies, and is compatible with China Mobile TD-LTE 4G internet and China Unicom TD-LTE/FDD-LTE. In other words, it supports dual-4G. It also supports China Unicom/China Mobile 3G as well as GSM internet. Unfortunately, it only supports one dual-frequency SIM. Google is ruling the mobile OS category and it was able to pull of the strong contenders and was the reason for their downfall with edge of being an open source OS and letting developers to take full control on it. Now it has grown so big and their OS is being updated on regular basis. Let us have a look at the percentage shares of different versions currently.
Revealing the latest statistics for its mobile OS on its Android Developers Dash board page on Wednesday, Google claimed that about 24.5 percent of Android smatphones/tablets runs on KitKat version. This data is of all devices recorded at the Google Play store over the seven-day period that ended September 9.
The latest pie-chart shows the rise for KitKat. But still Jelly bean is the King. Most of the OEMs have been working to roll out v4.4 but it is still lagging behind.
Android Jelly Bean has a collective share of 53.8 percent with all its versions. Second position is in the name of KitKat with a share of 24.5 percent as told earlier. Gingerbread is holding 11.4 collective percent and is in third spot. ICS is in 4th place with 10.6 percent and Froyo ends with 0.7 percent share.
News that Apple would release a version of the iPhone 6 with a sapphire screen shook the industry. Cellphone companies in China like E-Life and Huawei have expressed interest in using a sapphire screen.
Huawei introduced the Huawei P7 Sapphire Collector’s Edition at the IFA and recently announced that it will go on sale on September 12.
Besides its use of a sapphire screen, the P7 Sapphire Edition is also the result of Huawei’s goal to make their brands more luxurious and glamorous. According to reports, this edition’s has undergone hardness tests, TP/LCD tests, and others. Most of the results are pretty much within industry standards although it is harder than the regular edition’s screen. Other changes include its use of a porcelain rear cover where users can carve their name to personalize their phone. The color combinations are different as well. The Sapphire Edition has a gold mid-frame. This edition also comes with a Charge Pal, case, and earphones.
Its other specs are the same. It sports a 5-inch 1080p screen, uses a HiSilicon octa-core chipset, and has an 8mp/13mp dual-camera. Its OS is the EMUI. Expect this version to be more expensive than the regular version.
Cube has enjoyed success in the phablet market with its Talk flagship series due to their great features and affordable prices. Early June, Cube released the Talk8, a qud-core phablet with an 8-inch screen that only costs 599 RMB (97.71 USD), and now they will release a new cheaper version, the Talk8 H.
The Talk8 H is a watered down version of the original. The Talk8’s G+G touchscreen has been replaced with a G+P but both are still made of the same material. Furthermore, the Talk8’s 5mp AF rear camera has been replaced with a 2mp one.
Other than these two, the rest of this phablet’s specs remain the same. It is still white and its measurements are 220 x 123 x 9.5mm. It still uses a Samsung PLS display screen with 1280 x 800 resolution and its processor is the 1.3GHz MTK8382 quad-core chipset. It also has 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. When the OONE O1 first came out, it was one of the most expensive cellphones in China, costing 5160 RMB (841.50 USD).
Now, OONE will release a new version called the “OONE Youth Edition.”
Recently, OONE released a promotional poster for the OONE Youth Edition which looks similar to the O1. The design of the receiver in the front as well as thefront camera, and menu button is similar to the O1’s design. The Youth Edition may still retain the original’s 5-inch screen. If no changes are made in the side, it may still weigh 99g and have a thickness of 5.5mm.
“Youth editions” of phones are watered-down versions of the original aimed at students. As such, it has weaker specs. The original O1 sports a 5-inch 720p screen covered by Gorilla 3 glass, and has 2G RAM and 16G ROM. It also sports a 8mp camera and is powered by a 2000mAh battery. Its camera specs are the S3’s main selling point. It sports an 8mp front camera with a sensor from Sony and dual-flashlights. Its main camera also has 8mp. It also uses Doov’s Cam 2.0 software which lets the user take photos and do beauty enhancement by voice command.

The HL8015506 has already received certification from the MIIT’s website and its launch is supposed to be this month. The phone in the MIIT screenshot looks exactly the same as the recently leaked photos of Shenzhou’s new phone. The inverse-shaped receiver should leave a lasting impression, and same goes with the curved design of its back and sides.
The Shenzhou HL8015506 is said to sport a 5.5-inch 720p OGS screen. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. It also sports a 5mp/13mp dual-camera but no specific information about it has been released. It also sports a 5mp/13mp camera and is powered by a 4100mAh battery. Its OS is the Android 4.4-based EMUI 3.0 and it supports dual-SIM card.
Of course, we also can’t forget that the Mate 7 also sports a fingerprint scanner, the first Android phone to do so. It reacts to human touch in one second as opposed to the iPhone 5S’ 1.8s.
Now that the iPhone 6 is official, buyers will look out for various cases and covers for their new phone. Of course, both the models won’t hit the markets till September 19th, still I am sure, there will a number of buyers who would like to take a look at the options they have.
