After teasing the upcoming iQOO Neo 10R for a couple of days, iQOO has finally confirmed its launch date. The next Neo-branded smartphone is all set to go official on March 11 in India. Its landing page on Amazon has revealed a few key specs about the device.

With the March 11 launch date still over a month away, iQOO is expected to share more details about the Neo 10R 5G in the coming days. Its microsite on Amazon has revealed that the device will be available in a blue-white dual-tone finish called Raging Blue. Under the hood, it will feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset.

The Neo 10R 5G will deliver an enhanced gaming experience, thanks to features like a 2000Hz instant touch sampling rate and a stable 90fps performance, which can be monitored using the built-in FPS meter in Ultra Game Mode. The brand has already hinted that the device will be priced under Rs 30,000 in India. This indicates that it will be a strong competitor for the Dimensity 8400-powered Poco X7 Pro, which is selling for Rs 27,999 on Flipkart.

iQOO Neo 10R specifications (rumored)

According to reports, the iQOO Neo 10R 5G will feature an AMOLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It is likely to pack a massive 6,400mAh battery with 90W fast charging.

Speculations are rife that Neo 10R will be a rebranded version of the iQOO Z9 Turbo Endurance Edition, which debuted last month in China. Therefore, the Neo 10R is expected to arrive with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, a 50-megapixel (OIS) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) dual-camera setup, Funtouch OS 15-based Android 15, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and an IR blaster.

Here’s something you probably never expected to hear—someone turned their Galaxy Watch 5 into a little gaming console. Yes, this is just a regular smartwatch from Samsung. Reddit user ZenonDesingk recently shared images on the platform showcasing his achievement and the Galaxy Watch 5’s capability. He tested his watch with games like God of War, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and even Forza Horizon 4 (streamed via Steam Link) on the tiny screen.

Here’s how he did it

The gaming options available for the watch reportedly disappointed ZenonDesingk. But he wouldn’t give up on his dream after the first setback. He started exploring ways to push his smartwatch.

At first, he tried the usual methods, like installing APK files via Bluetooth or a browser. But none of that worked. Then he transferred the necessary files from his phone to the watch over Wi-Fi using ADB and Bugjaeger. After a little bit of tweaking which includes adjusting the DPI settings, he successfully installed a PSP emulator. And just like that, the Galaxy Watch 5 became a gaming rig.

The gaming experience

Galaxy Watch 5 managed to achieve a frame rate of around 60fps with games like Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted which is surprising to say the least. Even more demanding titles like God of War was running at around 30 fps. Quite impressive for a smartwatch that was launched almost three years ago, right?

To make it actually playable, ZenonDesingk paired a Bluetooth game controller with the watch. Just imagine placing the watch on a stand in front of your monitor and playing God of War—it’s both ridiculous and impressive at the same time.

The Galaxy Watch 5 was never meant to be a gaming device, and it cannot be without having a larger display and battery. But the fact that it can handle the workload is in itself surprising.

Except for ZTE, no other brand offers an under-display camera on its smartphones, such as the Axon 60 Ultra and Red Magic 10 Pro series. However, the feature may see wider adoption on phones from other brands next year. The reason behind this is that the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to come equipped with an under-display camera. If Samsung adopts it, at least “Ultra”-branded phones from competing brands may also follow suit.

Nothing is gearing up to launch its next mid-range smartphones, the Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro, on March 4th. As expected from Nothing, it has now started dropping subtle hints about what you can expect from upcoming phones. And its latest teaser suggests a feature that could set the 3a series apart from the competition — a dedicated camera button.

In a post on X, Nothing shared an x-ray-style image of a phone with an extra button positioned just below the power button. The button appears shorter and wider than the others, accompanied by the cryptic caption: “Your second memory, one click away.” While Nothing doesn’t explicitly confirm its function, the tagline “one click away” subtly hints it could be a dedicated camera button.

We have seen the resurgence of camera buttons on quite a few smartphones already. Apple revived the concept with its iPhone 16 series in 2024, although user feedback was mixed due to its complex implementation. Oppo’s Find X8 Pro later brought a simpler, more intuitive version to Android devices. 

Given Nothing’s focus on design and user experience, its approach could lean closer to Oppo’s, making for a more seamless and practical addition.

Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera upgrades reportedly skipped due to ‘Lack of Competition’

Have you noticed that Samsung isn’t the best in mobile photography anymore? Galaxy S25 Ultra packs almost the same camera setup as its predecessor, which came with a very similar setup to the S23 Ultra.

Samsung is selling its 200MP ISOCELL HP9 to its competitor, but not using it in their own Ultra flagship. The result is also predictable—superior zoom shots with the vivo X200 Pro. The Find X8 Pro offers even better output with a 6x 50MP periscope telephoto. And the superiority isn’t actually limited to long-range zoom.

But why is that? Well, according to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung’s decision has to do with a lack of competition. While devices like the vivo X200 Pro or the Find X8 Pro surpass the latest Galaxy flagship in multiple aspects, they reportedly don’t have the market share to become a threat to Samsung. Instead, they serve as “muscle-showing products” and increase brand visibility.

16.82 million units of the Galaxy S24 Ultra have been sold, which is reportedly higher than the sales feature of all other “Ultra” models combined. The numbers are reportedly not convincing enough for Samsung to upgrade the camera system.

Design could also be a reason

All other “Ultra” phones come with a chunky camera island. That level of protrusion added to the individual camera islands of the S Ultra phones won’t look or feel good for sure. Samsung has already introduced a new lens tech dubbed “ALOP”, which can reduce the protrusion of the camera modules.

The Galaxy S25 Edge only has two lenses on the back and is expected to lack a telephoto. We will need to see when Samsung feels the need to compete with the brands from China.

While the Ultra phones from China indeed have very little market share, brands like Vivo are now more popular than ever in budget-conscious markets like India, where more and more mid-range buyers are preferring models from Chinese brands over Samsung.

Another aspect that makes the Xiaomi 15 Ultra special is its cutting edge hardware. On the rear, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumored to feature a quad camera setup that will include a 50MP one-inch main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with macro capabilities and 4.3x optical zoom.

Thanks to a teardown video by PhoneRepairGuru on YouTube, we’ve got the inside scoop—literally. Spoiler: it’s easier to repair than the S24 Ultra, and Samsung’s made some sneaky little changes you’ll want to know about.

What’s new/different inside?

The back glass comes off with just a suction cup easily. That’s a big win for anyone who’s ever tried to fix their phone and ended up with more broken parts than they started with.

Once inside, things look familiar but with some clever tweaks. The wireless charging coil has been repositioned, likely to make room for Qi 2 tech, the latest and greatest in wireless charging. And the battery? It’s got redesigned pull tabs and adhesive that makes it way easier to remove and they are even reusable. That’s a game-changer for DIY repairs.

There’s also a new NFC coil that detects the S Pen. Samsung hasn’t spilled the beans on what this means for users yet, but it’s clear they’re making the S Pen experience even smoother.

Here’s a reason why the phone is lighter

The motherboard is a bit smaller this time, which probably helped Samsung shave off some weight. And while the camera module looks the same as last year’s (same layout for the main, ultra-wide, and telephoto sensors), the rest of the internals feel more refined.

There’s also a rubber gasket around the USB-C port for water resistance and a green spacer to keep the port snug against the screen. It’s these little touches that show Samsung’s paying a little bit of attention to the details.

The battery, display, and camera setup are all easy to access and replace, which is great news for anyone who likes to keep their phone running for years instead of tossing it at the first sign of trouble.

Future Galaxy Buds may offer much improved audio and more precise location tracking

Samsung is exploring ways to add UWB (Ultra-Wideband) in its earbuds, which is evident from a recently published patent application the company filed in November 2023.

For those wondering, Ultra-Wideband is a short-range wireless communication tech that operates at very high frequencies (3.1–10.6 GHz). It enables precise location tracking and high-speed data transfer over short distances while consuming very little power. Unlike Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, UWB provides centimeter-level accuracy when determining the position of objects.

The Galaxy S and Z series flagships already support this tech. So, UWB may enable more effective or more efficient location tracking of upcoming Galaxy Buds earphones, when connected to those phones.

Better audio transmission possible with UWB

UWB has a higher bandwidth than Bluetooth. So it can also enable better audio transmission. As Sammobile speculates, it can enable higher-fidelity audio in Galaxy Buds.

The patent application itself describes a new method of connecting the phone and the earbuds using both Bluetooth and UWB. Not to mention, the phone (or whatever device it is) will also have to support UWB. So it may come as a premium feature in the first and remain limited to a smaller group of users.

But what makes this development interesting is the possibility of other brands adopting the tech and implementing it to work seamlessly within their ecosystem, until most devices across different brands in the space include the tech and work with each other just as Bluetooth does today.

Nonetheless, it’s important to mention that a patent doesn’t guarantee the execution. And it will also increase the power consumption of the device. We will have to wait to see if Samsung decides to become the first to add UWB to earphones.

TCL achieves record 14.8% growth in global TV shipments for 2024

TCL Electronics has reported a 14.8% year-on-year increase in global TV shipments for 2024, reaching a record 29 million units. This growth is driven by the company’s dual-brand strategy (“TCL + Thunderbird”), a focus on mid-to-high-end products, and an emphasis on large-screen models. In Q4 2024 alone, shipments rose by 19.3% compared to the previous year and 20% quarter-on-quarter.

Surging Demand for Large-Screen and Mini LED TVs Fuels Growth

Large-screen TVs played a pivotal role in this expansion. Shipments of 65-inch and larger models grew by 21.3%, while 75-inch and larger TVs saw an even stronger 39.8% increase. As a result, the average TCL TV shipment size increased by 1.3 inches to 52.4 inches. Premium categories also performed exceptionally well, with Quantum Dot TV shipments up 69.5% and Mini LED TV shipments surging by 194.5%.

International demand significantly contributed to TCL’s success, particularly due to major sporting events. Shipments outside China rose by 17.6%, with large-screen models leading the charge. European shipments of TCL-branded TVs jumped by 33.8%, particularly in the 75-inch and larger segment. In North America, TCL maintained a top-two retail market share, with a 6.4% increase in shipments. Emerging markets, especially Latin America and the Middle East-Africa region, also posted solid 12.7% growth.

In China, shipments grew by 5.8%, with the Thunderbird brand, targeted at younger consumers, seeing a 38.5% surge. The average TV size in the Chinese market reached 63.3 inches, while shipments of 75-inch and larger models climbed 23.1%. Mini LED TVs saw particularly strong demand, with shipments skyrocketing by 264.7%, accounting for 15.3% of TCL’s total shipments in China.

TCL further reinforced its premium positioning by unveiling the QM6K series Mini LED TVs at CES 2025. These models introduce significant improvements in brightness, blooming control, and color accuracy. Powered by a new Super High Energy Mini LED chip, brightness is boosted by 53%, while an upgraded backlight design reduces halo effects.

Available in sizes from 50 to 98 inches, the QM6K series supports Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, IMAX Enhanced, and a 144Hz refresh rate with 288Hz VRR for gaming. They also feature Onkyo-designed 2.1-channel speakers and Google TV with hands-free voice control. The series will launch in the U.S. in early 2025, followed by a phased global rollout.

Xiaomi’s market value surpasses HK$1 trillion for the first time

Xiaomi Group has reached a major milestone as its market value surpassed HK$1 trillion for the first time. The company’s stock closed at HK$39.85, marking its highest price ever. This surge comes after a strong performance in recent months, with the stock rising over 7% on January 24, 2025, to close at HK$37.1. Earlier in the month, on January 3, it had already hit HK$36.25, the highest since 2021.

Xiaomi’s financial results for Q3 2024 exceeded market expectations. The company reported revenue of RMB 92.51 billion, surpassing the estimated RMB 90.28 billion. This represented a year-on-year growth of 30.5%. Net profit stood at RMB 5.35 billion, also above the forecasted RMB 4.73 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 4.4%. However, the company faced losses of RMB 1.5 billion in its innovative business segment, which includes IoT, electric vehicles, and emerging technologies.

Xiaomi is focusing on strategic investments in high-end smartphones, AIoT, and smart electric vehicles. DeepSeek gains momentum in the US as ChatGPT sees a dip

As ChatGPT’s dominance shows signs of decline, Chinese AI upstart DeepSeek is making a determined push into the global market. Recent Semrush data reveals that ChatGPT’s daily visits in the U.S. have dropped sharply from 22.1 million in October 2024 to 14.9 million by January 2025. Meanwhile, DeepSeek, though still far behind, has seen substantial growth, rising from just 2.3k visits in October to 71.2k by January 19, a significant surge in a short span.

Globally, DeepSeek’s traffic has surged past 7.12 million, and its rapid ascent to the top of download charts in 140 countries signals a notable shift in consumer preferences. However, its success has also sparked intense controversy.

At the heart of the debate is DeepSeek’s potential national security risks. Unlike OpenAI’s ChatGPT, DeepSeek operates under Chinese jurisdiction, subject to Beijing’s stringent data-sharing laws. Experts warn that the app’s vast trove of user data, ranging from personal queries to industry-specific intelligence could be exploited for strategic advantage. Cybersecurity concerns have already surfaced, with prominent firms identifying vulnerabilities and DeepSeek itself confirming a major cyberattack last week.

Dewardric McNeal, a senior analyst at Longview Global, underscores the broader implications: “This isn’t just about stolen data—it’s about mapping public sentiment, tracking industry trends, and influencing narratives.” The concern extends beyond individuals; industries and policymakers fear that DeepSeek’s open-source approach could allow China deeper insights into U.S. supply chains and technological developments.

Former Biden administration advisor Matt Pearl is even more alarmed, dismissing DeepSeek’s privacy policy as meaningless under Chinese law. He warns that the app could be leveraged for mass surveillance, tracking users across devices, and even embedding malware through updates. “One malicious update is all it takes,” Pearl cautions.

With tensions between the U.S. and China escalating, some believe a ban on DeepSeek is inevitable. “If TikTok faced scrutiny, DeepSeek is an even bigger concern,” Pearl argues. As AI competition heats up, the question remains: Will the U.S. allow a Chinese AI disruptor to dominate its market, or will regulatory action curb its rise?

Realme P3 Pro Teased Ahead of India Launch, Focus on Gaming Performance

Realme is set to launch the Realme P3 Pro in India as the successor to last year’s Realme P2 Pro. The company has started teasing the phone’s gaming features and is hosting a Realme Gaming Strategy Event in Delhi today.

According to a previous report from 91mobiles, the Realme P3 Pro is expected to launch in India in the third week of February. The device is reported to come in at least one configuration: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage.

While official specifications remain undisclosed, leaks suggest that the P3 Pro could be a rebranded version of the Realme 14 Pro. If accurate, the phone may feature a 6.77-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1B colors, and a peak brightness of 4500 nits. The screen resolution is expected to be 1080 x 2392 pixels (~388 ppi), with a ~90.9% screen-to-body ratio.

The device is rumored to run on Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy (4nm) chipset. For photography, the Realme P3 Pro might feature a dual rear camera setup with a 50 MP primary sensor (OIS) and a 2 MP depth sensor.

Additional features may include stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and USB-C 2.0. The 6000 mAh battery could be onboard, supporting 45W wired charging. The phone is expected to offer an IP68/IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. For those unaware, these Apple Watches were suffering from an issue that caused their batteries to swell up, leading to damage to the wearable device.

Despite Apple agreeing to settle this lawsuit, it has officially stated that it strongly disagrees with the claims made in the lawsuit. But the company “agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.” Furthermore, the exact amount of payments made varies since it depends on the number of people who come forward with their claims. However, we can expect early Apple Watch users to get around $20 to $50.
