AGON, the gaming sub-brand of AOC, has unveiled its latest addition to the competitive gaming monitor market – the AGON 6 Pro (model no: AG246FK). The monitor is priced at 5999 yuan (roughly $844) and is now available on JD.com. Let’s check out its key specs.

AGON 6 Pro Monitor Specifications:

The AG246FK monitor features a 24.1-inch Fast TN panel with 1920 x 1080 resolution and a staggering 540Hz refresh rate, making it one of the fastest monitors on the market. The display supports a brightness of 400 nits and an 8-bit color depth, ensuring vivid colors and good contrast.

While the resolution might seem low by today’s standards, the focus here is on speed. The TN panel boasts a 0.3ms (MPRT) and 0.5ms GtG response time, ensuring minimal ghosting and blur during fast-paced games.

Additionally, AOC’s MBR Sync technology aims to eliminate image quality issues typically associated with variable refresh rate (VRR) technologies like G-Sync and FreeSync.

In terms of color accuracy, it covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut and has a Delta E<2 rating, which is decent but not outstanding. However, the monitor offers various game modes and color settings to optimize the experience for different genres.

The AG246FK comes equipped with two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DP1.4 port, and four USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports for connecting peripherals. The stand offers a wide range of adjustments, including tilt, swivel, height adjustment, and even portrait mode. VESA 100x100mm wall mounting is also supported.

AGON has equipped the AG246FK with its “Rage Engine,” a suite of features designed to enhance the gaming experience. A new leak suggests that Qualcomm might be expanding its Snapdragon X Plus family of chipsets. The new silicon, codenamed “Purwa,” has the model number X1P-39-100.

So far, Qualcomm has officially announced only one Snapdragon X Plus model, the X1P-64-100. In comparison, the Snapdragon X Elite line includes three new chipsets with the same core architecture but varying CPU clock speeds and theoretical GPU performance.

Additionally, there have been leaks about another X Plus chip, the X1P-42-100, which is a less powerful version of the X1P-64-100. Now, reliable leaker Roland Quandt has revealed an even more basic variant, the X1P-39-100. So the leak suggests that the X Plus line will also have three chips, similar to the Snapdragon X Elite.

HMD Global, the company behind Nokia-branded phones, may launch a new mid-range smartphone called the Skyline. The details come from a Finnish publication that revealed the phone will launch in July and will be available at retailers on July 10.

The Skyline will be positioned as the more premium offering from HMD, with a rumored price tag of €520. It will be available in black with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and will have dual-SIM support. The device reportedly has the model number TA-1688.

Apart from this, there are not many details revealed about the device. But the Skyline is believed to have previously been codenamed Tomacat. If this is the case, it is expected to feature an FHD+ OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

On the back, the Skyline is likely to sport a triple-camera system, featuring a 108MP main sensor, an ultrawide lens, and a macro or depth sensor. For selfies, a 32MP camera will be on hand.

The phone is also expected to include a 4,900mAh battery with 33W fast charging, IP67 dust, and water resistance, and come pre-installed with Android 14. Additionally, it will have an under-display fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers.

For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, HMD is also said to be working on a different device called Nighthawk. It is expected to launch under €300.

The Nighthawk will share the same FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate as the Skyline but will reportedly feature a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. It will come with 8GB of RAM and offer storage options of 128GB or 256GB.

The Nighthawk will also feature a 108MP main camera with one additional rear sensor, and retain the 32MP selfie camera. It will have a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery. Notably, the Nighthawk will include a headphone jack, and both devices will run Android 14 and have stereo speakers.

Although this is the only detail from the listing, tipster Digital Chat Station has shared more information. The phone is reportedly a part of the Nova 13 series, and all the devices in this lineup will feature a 5G-enabled Kirin processor. The Nova 13 Ultra will be the most expensive model in the series.

Previous rumors tipped that the Nova 13 phones will be powered by the Kirin 9010 SoC. As suggested by DCS, the chipset supports 5G connectivity. For context, Huawei’s recent flagship models, the Pura 70, 70 Pro, 70 Pro+, and Ultra, all use the new Kirin 9010 silicon.

Additionally, the Nova 13 Pro and Ultra models are rumored to include Huawei’s XMAGE imaging technology, currently limited to the flagship Pura and Mate series phones.

Another report revealed that the upcoming wearable will be available in the US, Korea, and global markets. A well-known tipster Evan Blass had also shared a list of the upcoming Samsung products that included the Galaxy Watch FE.

Huawei overtakes Samsung as top foldable smartphone brand globally

Huawei has surpassed Samsung to become the world’s leading foldable smartphone brand in the first quarter of 2024. It’s the first time the Chinese tech giant has claimed the top spot in this rapidly growing segment, despite facing ongoing US sanctions.

According to research firm Counterpoint, Huawei’s foldable smartphone shipments surged by a staggering 257% year-on-year in the first three months of the year.

The surge comes in stark contrast to Samsung’s performance, with the South Korean company’s market share dropping from 58% in Q1 2023 to just 23% in Q1 2024. That’s when the total global foldable smartphone shipment grew by 49%.

A key driver of Huawei’s success in the foldable market is its focus on 5G models. In the March quarter, 84% of Huawei’s foldable shipments were 5G-enabled, compared to none in the same period last year.

Counterpoint says the company’s popular foldable models were the Mate X5 (booklet-type) and Pocket 2 (clamshell-type). Most of Huawei’s sales come from China, even though its foldables are available in regions like the Middle East.

Samsung, on the other hand, has been slow to innovate its foldable lineup, which may explain its downturn in the market.

Motorola performed exceptionally well in this segment, with growth of over 1473% compared to Q1 2023, making it now the fourth largest foldable brand with an 11% market share. Its Razr 40 (aka Razr 2023) became the top model in North America, according to the research firm.

Apple is bringing a new iMessage experience in iOS 18! The company is rumored to be introducing even more new text effects that could stylize messages, even when sending to Android users.

Here’s what we know so far:

Animated Text: Say goodbye to static text messages. iOS 18’s iMessage might allow you to animate individual words within a sentence. Imagine sending a “Happy Birthday” with the word “Happy” exploding in a shower of confetti, or a “Congrats” highlighted by shimmering fireworks. MacRumors reports that these effects would be a step beyond the existing whole-message animations like balloons and confetti showers.
Cross-Platform Compatibility: This is where things get interesting. While iMessage currently limits fancy effects to iPhone users, Apple’s confirmation of RCS messaging support in iOS 18 raises the possibility that these new text effects could be sent and viewed on Android devices as well. RCS (Rich Communication Services) is a messaging standard that aims to bridge the gap between SMS and iMessage features.

The Xiaomi CIVI 4 Pro Disney Princess Edition smartphone is slated for its official unveiling next week. This was announced by Xiaomi’s Product Manager Hu Xinxin. The new customized version of the Xiaomi CIVI will be officially released on the first anniversary of the brand’s parttnership with Disney.

The CIVI 4 Pro Disney Princess Edition HyperOS source code was spotted previously.by the guys at AndroidHeadlines. This indicated that the device carried the chenfeng codename and N9 internal model number. The smartphone will be coming after the company unveiled the CIVI 3 Disney Strawberry Bear edition released last year.

While the leaked source code did not reveal much, some of the finer details have been provided by the new teaser poster. The appearance and design of the Disney Princess Edition is related to the co-branded Disney Princess IP. It comes pre-installed with the theme of the Disney Princess IP as well as the UI. The images also reflect a special camera watermark.

The Xiaomi CIVI 4 Pro Disney Princess Edition will come with the same hardware setup as the existing version. Therefore it will have a 6.55-inch AMOLED micro-curved screen with 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset and its triple camera setup is signposted with a 50MP rear camera. The smartphone will come with a 4,700mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. The front-facing bionic dual cameras are rated 32MP while the rear sensor is the 50MP Leica optical Summilux lens, combined with a 12MP Leica ultra-white angle secondary camera. More details about the Xiaomi CIVI 4 Pro Disney Princess Edition will emerge as the launch date draws nearer.

Acer has added the Aspire C24 to its all-in-one (AIO) PC lineup. Available in the EMEA regions starting in July, this new model features a 23.8-inch FHD IPS display with narrow bezels for a clean and expansive visual experience. It is priced at approximately €899.

The Aspire C24 is equipped with the latest from Intel’s Meteor Lake line, either the Core Ultra 7 155U or the Core Ultra 5 125U processors. These processors are compatible with Intel AI Boost and include Intel Arc integrated graphics, enabling the PC to manage AI functions and handle moderate graphic demands effectively.

This AIO can be configured with up to 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage, featuring the Samsung 990 PRO SSD for quick data access and ample storage capacity. To help reduce eye strain, Acer includes its Bluelight Shield technology, which lowers blue light emissions from the screen.

Xiaomi has unveiled the MIJIA Large-capacity Suitcase in China. The Xiaomi MIJIA travel suitcase is a large-capacity suitcase with a thickened body and an explosion-proof zipper.

Features

The MIJIA travel suitcase is suitable for long-distance travel and its large capacity means it can accommodate much of the family luggage when traveling. It comes in three color options namely charcoal black, aqua blue, and avocado green. Its thickened box design makes the suitcase to be durable and difficult to break into. It also has an explosion-proof zipper as an added layer of security. The travel suitcase is available in three sizes – 24 inches, 26 inches, and 28 inches.

The suitcase has a 3:7 body ratio and a compartment design. This makes it convenient for storage and opening/ closing. New Bluetooth SIG certifications hint at the imminent arrival of the OnePlus Nord 4 and Nord CE 4 Lite. This follows previous leaks suggesting that the Nord 4 could launch in India in the third week of July. The certification reveals that both the Nord 4 and Nord CE4 Lite will feature Bluetooth 5.3.

Xiaomi has released its latest smart washing machine in China. The Xiaomi MIJIA Essence Wash 10kg smart washing machine comes with some impressive features including smart drying.

The new MIJIA Smart Washing Machine utilizes the Essence quick wash technology and can complete the washing process in under 36 minutes. The essence quick wash technology generates 1.5 times concentrated essence by pre-activating active factors and uses high-pressure direct injection to ensure efficient washing. When compared with traditional washing machines, the new technology reduces the washing time by up to 45%. It also achieves about 33% water and 40% electricity savings. Xiaomi says the wash-to-clean ratio of the gadget is up to 1:1

In terms of drying function, the new washing machine features a high-precision sensor to accurately control the temperature and time in real-time, to efficiently stop when the clothes are dry. It also supports low-temperature gentle drying, with a precise control temperature between 55°C and 65°C, thus ensuring that the clothes are not damaged during drying. At the same time, the uniform high wind speed of 14.5m/s ensures significantly shorter drying times.

The new washing machine supports dual-channel intelligent delivery. Users can remotely schedule laundry and control programs through the MIJIA App. It also supports XiaoAi voice control, AIoT device interconnection, and XiaoAi speaker voice reminder. The washing machine also supports OTA online upgrades.

In terms of design, the MIJIA Essence Wash 10kg smart washing machine adopts an ultra-thin body design and is equipped with a large drum diameter of 525mm. It also supports 95℃ high-temperature drum cleaning and door seal spraying. It is equipped with a direct drive (DD) motor that makes the washing machine more stable and quiet during operation.

The new Xiaomi MIJIA smart washing machine has the model number XHQG100MJ103. It is offered at a promotional price of 2,299 yuan ($318) on JD.com. Additionally, JD Plus members will get the product at 2,179 yuan ($301).

Global leading electric vehicles manufacturer BYD has opened its outlet in Saudi Arabia. The company has been struggling under tough Sino-US relations and stringent tariffs preventing its progression to the US market. The BYD shop is located in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. The store integrates a flagship showroom, a discovery center, and a service center.

The new BYD store offers a full range of new energy vehicles by the brand for local consumers. Participants at the opening ceremony were allowed to have a close look and also test drive three all-electric BYD vehicles. The vehicles were the Han, BYD ATTO3 (or Yuan PLUS), and BYD Seal. Participants were also offered the opportunity to test drive two plug-in hybrid vehicles – the Qin PLUS and Song PLUS.

The strong debut of BYD in the Saudi EV market comes at an opportune time and aligns with the Saudi government’s goals to achieve a 30% prevalence of new electric vehicles. BYD will work with Al-Futtaim to continue to develop a new energy vehicle ecosystem and jointly promote the rapid development of the local EV industry. The BYD brand was officially launched in February 2024 and it has received positive feedback from consumers on its NEV offerings in the Saudi market.
