A Slovakian company DEEP has successfully modified Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max smartphone by incorporating a USB-C port into the device. The new USB-C port is something that has been long expected for the iPhone as much of Apple’s lineup of products now comes with the global connectivity option via the USB-C port for both charging and connectivity. Apple iPads and Macs already have the standard USB—port available, but this has not been birthed on the iPhone 12 series official. We have only seen a third-party iPhone X with USB-C also sold on eBay for a hefty $86,000.

The company DEEP provided a walk-through video that details all the steps taken to transform the iPhone 12 Max Pro into a USB-C-capable device. The modification process started with opening the smartphone and removing the Lightning port flex cable assembly. The needed measurements are taken so that the USB-C connector and the housing could be properly placed. A flex cable designed with the USB-C port and implementing an original Mfi chip was then soldered into the flex assembly and installed back to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. A 3D printing of the housing was done for the new port to fit snugly.

The new USB-C iPhone 12 Pro Max has been put through the paces and it is fully operational both in charging the device and connectivity. It works with iTunes and the phone’s internal storage connects with the Mac seamlessly. As per charging, the modified iPhone 12 Pro Max charges properly with an original Apple charger using a USB-C to C (or USB-A to C) cable. There is no mention of potential drawbacks of the device in the absence of its original Lightning connector. It is also unclear whether there was an interface between the company and Apple.

The USB-C iPhone 12 Pro Max is already put on sale on eBay via an auction. It will be the second-ever iPhone with a USB-C port. The first model did not get the traction expected by its designers. We shall keep tabs on the auction which will run from February 24 until March 6 at 3.00 am Eastern Time. It is also unclear whether the water resistance rating of the original iPhone 12 Pro Max is maintained with the current modification.

The iPhone 13 Pro also provides a higher brightness. But there is an important detail that may let you choose the iPhone 12 Pro Max: its bigger display size. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is more suitable for productivity because of its 6.7-inch display, while the iPhone 13 Pro has a compact 6.1-inch panel. Both the displays are Super Retina XDR OLED panels with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and a 1170p resolution, but the 13 Pro has a higher average brightness.

Specs & Software

If you desire to get higher performance, then go for the iPhone 13 Pro without thinking twice. It has a more powerful Apple A15 Bionic chipset which provides up to 50 percent better CPU performance and even better GPU performance. The difference in terms of battery life is important, while the charging speeds are exactly the same, but the 13 Pro naturally charges faster because of its smaller battery capacity.

You can currently buy the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max for less than €1100/$999. You can usually find better street prices for the iPhone 12 Pro Max because it is an older device, while the 13 Pro has been on sale just for a few weeks. The advantages of the iPhone 12 Pro Max are its bigger display and its bigger battery, but for the rest, the iPhone 13 Pro is superior. It has a smaller display, but it comes with a better processor, better cameras, and iOS 15 out of the box.

The global smartphone revenue had crossed the 100 billion US Dollar mark in the first quarter of this year. This set a new record for the quarter, which was led by the premium grade flagship like Apple iPhones that dominated the market.

According to a Counterpoint Research report, the iPhone 12 series not only dominated the revenue share in Q1 2021, but the series also was the highest selling smartphone during the quarter. Furthermore, the Cupertino based giant even dominated along with the South Korean smartphone manufacturer, Samsung. The iPhone 12 Pro Max accounted for the largest chunk of the revenue, closely followed by the iPhone 12, and the iPhone 12 Pro as well.

As per the report, certain markets preferred the higher end models within the iPhone12 lineup. In the US, the iPhone 12 Pro Max was the best selling model. Similarly, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G also sold more than the lower variants of the series in the US and Europe. The flagship models also benefitted from the strong carrier promotions in these regions, which helped in raising sales.

Notably, apart from the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE 2020, every model on the list was 5G enabled handsets. Meaning, 5G is a standard now in the premium segment. The first three iPhone 12 models alone accounted for about 32 percent of the total smartphone market’s revenue, which is nearly a third of the overall total. Meanwhile, the top 10 highest grossing models alone accounted for 46 percent of the global smartphone market revenue.

Caviar is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first manned spaceflight with special editions of the iPhone 12 Pro/iPhone 12 Pro Max that honor astronauts Yuri Gagarin and Neil Armstrong; Russian rocket designer, Sergei Korolev; as well as space entrepreneurs, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.

The iPhone 12 Pro/iPhone 12 Pro Max Yuri Gagarin editions have aviation-grade titanium bodies with a navigator watch similar to the one the Russian cosmonaut used to track his time in space. There is also a miniaturized version of the Vostok-K rocket on the back. This version of the iPhone 12 Pro has a starting price of $8,920.

The iPhone 12 Pro/iPhone 12 Pro Max Neil Armstrong Edition ditches the colors of the Yuri Gagarin Edition for a monochrome design. Etched on the back of the phone, which is also made of titanium, is a drawing of the astronaut planting the American flag on the moon. The date of the moon landing is also etched on the phone along with a drawing of earth. This special edition has a piece of the Apollo 11 spacecraft and a starting price of $6450. Caviar will be making only 11 units and each unit will have its number engraved on the side of the phone.

The Korolev version looks gorgeous with its infusion of electroplated 999 gold on the titanium back and around the edge which gives it a unique appearance. Engraved on the back are the date the Sputnik launched and the words “The Father of Practical Astronautics” in block letters. There will be 99 units made and the starting price is $6760.

For the Elon Musk version, which starts at $6610, there is also a touch of gold on the back of the phone. There is a silhouette of the founder of SpaceX along with the planet Mars. Engraved along the ring circling the red planet are the words “The Beginning of Mars Colonization” and the date SpaceX was founded. SpaceX is 19 this year and Caviar will be making that exact number of this special edition.

There is also a custom-made version made for a fan of Elon Musk and SpaceX dubbed “Musk Be on Mars” that has engraved on the back a depiction of the Dragon spacecraft lifting off. This version has a starting price of $6910.

For the Bezos edition, the titanium back has a touch of blue and a silver feather that depicts Blue Origin’s logo. It also has etched on the back “Going To The Moon To Stay” a belief that Jeff Bezos. The date, April 29, 2015, which is the date the New Shepard rocket was first flown is also etched on the back. Caviar will make 99 units of the phone and the starting price is $5840

Last year, Apple iPhone 11 topped the charts on the best-selling smartphones during the first half. Later, the device went on to be one of the most shipped smartphones for the entire year as well. Today, Counterpoint Research has come up with a report for the global Top 10 best-selling models for January 2021, and Apple dominates the list yet again with iPhone 12 at the top.

As per the report, Apple iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max accounted for 71% of Apple’s entire sales for the month and occupied the first three positions in the Top 10 list. As reported earlier, the demand was high for the 5G Apple devices due to a late launch in 2020.

The yesteryear iPhone 11 is still at the fourth spot and this isn’t that surprising considering the device is still a value for money for Apple lovers. Also, the report says that 1/3rd of Apple’s total sales comes from the US.

Apple also has two more devices on the list and one of them is the iPhone 12 mini, yes you heard it right. Reports said that Apple could discontinue the mini version by Q2 but look like it has garnered some sales in January. The other iPhone model is the iPhone SE 2020.

The Top-10 list is once again shared only by Samsung and Xiaomi apart from Apple. We have Redmi 9A and Redmi 9 in the fifth and sixth spots. The report says that the sub $150 phones accounted for 25% of Xiaomi’s total sales for January.

Talking about Samsung, the Galaxy A21s and the Galaxy A31, which recently got price cuts in India, occupy the seventh and ninth spot respectively. Lastly, the report says that Xiaomi is growing gradually in the MEA region while Samsung is looking to attract more HONOR with its Galaxy A devices.

That being said, with more 5G mid-range devices launching in the coming months, we can expect them to dominate the Top 10 list this year.

It had covered the story yesterday (Wednesday) that tech giant Apple was planning to start assembling the iPhone 12 series in India. The news was quite hazy at that point but confirmation has now come from Apple, saying that they have indeed started the production of the iPhone 12 in India. The inroads into the huge market provided by the Indian population of over 1 billion, marks a giant leap by the US-based company.

In a statement made public on Thursday (via), Apple said that they were proud of the decision to begin the production of the iPhone 12 in India, which will be mainly for the huge local market available for the product.

In order not to be caught in the crossfire that has now defined the simmering trade conflict between the US and China, Apple had been gradually shifting some aspects of its production from China to other countries. Even with a new administration in place in the US, tensions are still high. Vietnam and India, inside sources have revealed, are among the beneficiaries from a scaled-down production activity of Apple in China.

Taiwanese suppliers Foxconn and Wistron are the major drivers of the iPhone production project in India since 2017 when iPhone production commenced in India, with a number of plants already operational in different parts of the country.

The iPhone 12 production in India will be at Foxconn’s Tamil Nadu plant, although Foxconn has yet to provide information on the details yet, insisting that it does not make comments on client’s based services being rendered by it.

Obviously, there are plans by Apple to also assemble its tablets in India, as it continues to scale up investment in the country under a quite favorable investment and political climate. Thousands of direct and indirect jobs will be created in the process, to be mainly manned by the citizens of the country. Therefore the outlook looks good for the Indian economy and it is expected that the Indian government will continue to provide incentives for growth in the tech economy, as it pursues its policy of making India a hub for the region.

Market research firm Omdia has published a report on most shipped smartphones in 2020. As per the report, only three brands made it to the top 10, just like 2019. These companies were none other than Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi.

According to the chart released by Omdia, the iPhone 11 was the most shipped smartphone in 2020 with 64.8 million units in shipments and $754 ASP (Average Selling Price). For those unaware, this handset’s predecessor (iPhone XR) topped the list in 2019 but the units were less at 46.3 million and the ASP was a bit more at $777.

Further, the second, third, seventh, and tenth positions were also occupied by Apple with the 2020 iPhone SE (24.2 million), iPhone 12 (23.3 million), iPhone 12 Pro Max (16.8 million), and iPhone 12 Mini (14.8 million). The ASP of these models were $451, $896, $1,232, and $796 respectively.

Interestingly, the iPhone 12 Mini shipped more than the iPhone 12 Pro although numerous reports stated poor sales. The latter phone is not even included in Omdia’a top 10 chart.

Further, with Apple sitting in five places, Samsung captured four positions. The South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy A51 ($269), Galaxy A21s ($192), Galaxy A01 ($115), and Galaxy A11 ($158) came fourth, fifth, sixth, and eighth respectively. The shipments of these devices stood at 23.2 million, 19.4 million, 16.9 million, and 15.3 million units.

Lastly, the Redmi Note 9 Pro by Xiaomi was in ninth place with 15 million units in shipments and $161 ASP.

Apple’s iPhone 12 became the world’s top-selling 5G smartphone in just two weeks of its launch. Now, a report by Digitimes says that the entire iPhone 12 series has helped Apple gain a huge market share in China for Q4 2020.

According to the report, the iPhone 12 series’s sales in China has exceeded the expectations during Q4 2020. If you recall, right from the launch, the iPhone 12s have been under demand in China. The initial waiting period was from five to six days for iPhone 12 while it was several weeks for iPhone 12 Pro. However, the company has overcome this and shipped nearly 18 million units in Q4.

That said, the reasons for demand on Apple’s iPhone 12 series were ranging from power management chips for iPhone 12 to the  IC shortages for the 12 Pro variants. Still, Apple’s strong foothold on the Chinese soil is reportedly due to the adoption of 5G which is already mainstream in the country.

DXOMARK has released more reports and this time it is the HomePod mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max‘s Audio tests. The former, despite performing well for the size, is nowhere near the competition in score. The iPhone, however, gets a step closer to rankings compared to its sibling.

Apple HomePod mini

To begin with, Apple’s HomePod mini gets a global score of 98. Not that this score is outstanding or anything but it seems to do a good job despite a smaller dimension. To compare, top contenders like Amazon Echo Studio and Google Nest Audio sit at the top with 124 and 112 points respectively.

Do note that this category is for Essential Wireless Speakers(under EUR 200). The report says the speaker produces good timbre, treble, and clear mid-range sounds. Although it has a smaller(8.5cm) height, the 360° sound helps it get a consistent sound throughout with less artifacts.

However, it lacks bass, stereo effect, not-so-high Max volume, and has low-mid tones. Typically, it looks to be suitable for indoors(background music), and casual listening but doesn’t impress as a speaker in a loud party scenario.

iPhone 12 Pro Max

Apple’s iPhone 12 recently got a score of 73 points but the higher sibling beats it by a point more. And in doing so, Apple’s 2020 top-of-the-line flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max scores a good 74 overall points. It also gets the better of its spiritual predecessor iPhone 11 Pro Max which is three points behind(71).

The device offers good timbre with good high-end/low-end extension and consistent tones at all volumes. The dynamics of sound seem to be good and the report also says the speaker is suited for gaming with good spatial attributes(playback).

Overall, Audio is also good when recording/playing in noisy environments, and selfie-videos’ output is above-average. But it has Cons like occluded microphone placement(while playing/recording), small distortion in loud content, too bright and aggressive trebles.

DXOMARK has released the display test results for the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. And the device performs well in all departments. In fact, it is just one point short of topping the charts.

According to the test report, Apple‘s iPhone 12 Pro Max gets an overall score of 88. As per the official rankings, it now sits second to Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. To compare, its sibling iPhone 12 Pro, which recently scored 87 points, sits in third place. Anyway, with these points, it also shares the second place with OnePlus.

Precisely, the company’s 2019 flagship OnePlus 8 Pro also scores 88 whereas Samsung’s Note 20 Ultra tops with 89 points. Talking about Apple’s 2020 flagship, it has a slightly larger 6.7-inch OLED display compared to 6.5-inches on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Anyway, let’s look at the display specs below:

Some of its strong points include the peak brightness, HDR10 contrast in video playback. Additionally, it also handles the aliasing effect well with smooth transitions in gaming.

However, just like the predecessors, this also seems to be affected by too much of the color cast. The report says that the display puts out a strong yellow tint in almost all tested conditions. That’s not all as the device seems to be a bit dull in low-light scenarios and adding a strong blue light filter impacts reading at night.

To sum up, Some of its Pros are well maintained HDR10, gamma levels and aliasing effect, smooth transitions across lightings. It has cons like yellow cast(almost all scenarios), low low-light brightness along with occasional flicker, too much darker while playing SDR contents.

Apple is planning to boost the iPhone production in 2021 according to a Nikkei report. The move comes at a time when it already faces shortages of several components for the iPhone 12 series.

According to the report, Apple is planning to make 96 million iPhones in H1 2021. That’s a 30% YoY increase which is reportedly due to the demand for its 5G devices. Apple brought the 5G connectivity to iPhones with the iPhone 12 series. Since then, there has been a good demand for the devices in Europe, China, and other Asian markets. In fact, it’s initial demand forecasted a two-week recovery period due to shortages of supplies.

Anyway, the report says Apple has directed suppliers to get ready for the target which also includes iPhone 11, and iPhone SE. Further, Apple is also planning to take it deep with a total of 230 million iPhone shipments next year. Recently, Apple got pushed to 4th place by Xiaomi in Global Smartphone Shipments.

Precisely, the company has so far shipped 116 million iPhones in 2020. Out of this, the majority of shipment is from the 5G devices according to the report. Either way, it has crawled back up with just a 1% YoY dip in shipments so far. And with the global smartphone market’s recovery far away in 2022, Apple has no choice but to crank it up a notch and do something.

However, Apple has a main concern to address in order to achieve the next year’s target. Although the report says Apple has enough stocks of processor, it has been increasingly facing shortages of components. That’s not all as the report says in spite of reallocated parts of the iPad to the iPhone 12 range, Apple is chasing for other components to meet demand. Experts also say that even though a positive atmosphere lies ahead in 2021, Apple won’t benefit from Huawei’s absence, unlike other companies. Either way, Apple’s target for 2021 is a 20% YoY increase from 2019.

Going into 2021, it already has healthy demands for iPhone 12Pro, 12 Pro Max but not-so-great want for iPhone 12 and 12 mini. Nevertheless, the iPhone 12s will allow Apple to take a chunk of total OLED shipments but experts feel that the next iPhones won’t have any excitement now that 5G is already here.

Tech giant, Apple is on course to release its revolutionary iPhone 13 series and return to its regular iPhone announcement schedule in 2021, according to industry expert Ming-Chi Kuo. The implication of this announcement is that the iPhone 13 lineup of smartphones is projected to berth at the end of Q3, 2021, around the end of September 2021.

Heavily impacted by the rampant coronavirus pandemic this year, Apple was forced to shift the launch of its new flagships back so as to accommodate the release of the iPhone 12, iPhone12 Pro, the iPhone 12 mini, and 12 Pro Max, between October and November 2020.

Kuo also played down concerns about the pace of production of the critical A15 chip by TSMC and expects a ramping of efforts by the chipmaker to meet expected production milestones for the A15 chip.

It would seem that only a minimal effect was felt by Apple as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, as its 2020 lineup of iPhones is doing quite well in the market at this time. The iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone Pro Max have already exceeded short-term sales forecasts and the trend is expected to continue up till the summer of 2021 when the iPhone 13 lineup will be unveiled.

The iPhone 13 series slated for a 2021 launch date comes with a marked divergence in design and technology from previous iPhone models. Information culled from diverse sources including product leaks and patents, point to some new features for the phone. The iPhone 13 is expected to be port-less, by dropping the Lightning connector, will have MagSafe for accessories and charging and it will also have potentially a four-camera array together with LiDAR capabilities.

Apple could also possibly reduce the notch, or remove it altogether from the phone, incorporate Touch ID in the display or power button, and having a 120Hz screen with LTPO, among several exciting features.

I love the design of the OPPO Find X2 Pro and I consider it the best design of this trio. It comes with amazing materials: you can choose between a variant made of ceramic and a leather version (it is vegan leather) with an aluminum frame. The phone is also waterproof up to 1.5 meters deep thanks to the IP68 certification. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra still offers an awesome design with its high screen-to-body ratio and its stainless steel frame, and it is waterproof as well with the IP68 certification. But the best build quality is provided by the iPhone 12 Pro Max, coming with a stainless steel frame and Ceramic Shield. The Apple flagship is waterproof up to 6 meters deep!

Display

Here it is a very hard fight. The displays of these phones are more or less at the same level as they provide an astonishing image quality, close to perfection. Unfortunately, the iPhone 12 Pro Max lacks a high refresh rate, that is why I would not choose it. In 2020, the image quality is not everything: the smoothness counts too. Instead, I would go for the OPPO Find X2 Pro with its 10-bit color depth and 120 Hz refresh rate. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is very similar, but it does not allow using 120 Hz with the max Quad HD+ resolution. On the other hand, it supports the S Pen for handwriting and drawing.

Hardware and Software

Each of these devices sports a flagship-class hardware department, but the most powerful is the iPhone 12 Pro Max: it is fueled by the new Apple A14 Bionic platform built at 5 nm with 5G support. The second place goes to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G with a Snapdragon 865+ paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of native storage. But you should note that the European version is not powered by the Snapdragon 865+: instead, you get an Exynos 990 chipset which is actually inferior to the vanilla Snapdragon 865 found on the OPPO Find X2 Pro.

Camera

The best camera performance is offered by the iPhone 12 Pro Max, followed by the OPPO Find X2 Pro. The iPhone 12 Pro Max provides better video recording capabilities, while OPPO Find X2 Pro has higher zoom capabilities thanks to a periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is slightly less interesting, but it remains one of the best camera phones out there.

Battery

Despite it packs a smaller battery, the iPhone 12 Pro Max can actually provide a longer battery life. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a bit disappointing despite its 4400 mAh battery, while the Oppo Find X2 Pro sits in the middle. The Find X2 Pro wins the fast charging comparison with its 65W power, but it lacks wireless charging.

Price

Oppo Find X2 Pro is priced at €1199 in the global market, while you need €10 less to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max ($1099/€1189). Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra costs $1299/€1299. If you are a productivity user, you may find the S Pen very useful, that is why Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra might be the best choice for you. But if you are not I believe OPPO Find X2 Pro is a better phone than Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The iPhone 12 Pro Max looks even better from several points of view (better hardware and camera, but it lacks a high refresh rate and very fast charging) if you can live with iOS.

Apple is unarguably the most valuable smartphone brand in the world and this is mostly tied to the price of the iPhone models. The latest iPhone 12 series are among the most pricey smartphones around with the iPhone 12 Pro Max at the top end of the ladder. The model starts at $1099 for the base variant. Little wonder a delivery man was tempted to make way with a staggering 14 units of the iPhone 12 Pro Max that he was supposed to deliver for a customer.

The delivery guy whose name was given as Tang works for the delivery company of Chinese shopping platform Meituan-Dianping. According to the report, an Apple authorized store clerk in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province of China had on November 14 placed an order at Meituan Delivery to have a package containing 14 brand-new iPhone 12 Pro Max delivered at another Apple store.

After Tang collected the package, instead of delivering it, he reportedly cancelled the order and paid just 10 yuan for defaulting. He then bolted with the phones which are each valued at 10,000 yuan (around $1,500).  The Apple store clerk who requested for the delivery to be made was then unable to contact him.

However, he was traced within a short space and after he was nabbed, ten unopened iPhone 12 Pro Max units were recovered from him. He had already tampered with four of the iPhones. He reportedly opened one for personal use, one was used to pay off debts by a friend. The third unit was mortgaged to a pawn shop at 9,500 yuan. Finally, the fourth unit was sold to a mobile phone dealer at a low price of 7,000 yuan. Like a treasure hunter who stumbled on a chest filled with gold, Tang went on a spending spree after selling off two of the units. He bought a new dress and rented a BMW car for fun at a price of 600 yuan per day. All four units were subsequently recovered by the police.

Meituan has since banned the culprit from its network for life and has issued an industry-wide blacklist. He will also likely face criminal prosecution.

Apple products have often been the recipient of such attempted heist. Not too long ago, five Amazon employees in Spain were arrested while attempting to cart away iPhones worth over $500,000 from a logistic centre in Madrid.

The suspects were uncovered by Amazon after launching an internal and covert operation after significant disparities were observed in the weights of several phone boxes. Hidden cameras at the logistics centre subsequently unmasked the culprits, who had replaced the phones in the boxes with other things.

DisplayMate has published its review of the iPhone 12 Pro Max display and has ranked it with the highest-ever Display Performance Grade of A+. It has also bestowed it with the “Best Smartphone Display” award.

Apart from that, what’s impressive is that the smartphone managed to hit a milestone by having 11 instances of breaking a record or matching an existing one. For comparison, the iPhone 11 Pro launched last year matched or set nine performance records for the screen.

However, there’s one aspect where the display of the iPhone 12 Pro Max lacks behind the competition is the refresh rate. While other companies have adopted a 90Hz, 120Hz, and even 144Hz refresh rate, this phone comes with the standard 60Hz refresh rate.

On this matter, DisplayMate says that it should be fine for most applications because of the very fast Response Time of the OLED display, and the very fast CPU and GPU processors on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

To summarise the phone’s display specifications, the iPhone 12 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR screen that offers 2778 x 1284 pixels screen resolution, 1200 nits peak brightness, 458ppi pixel density, and 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

Now, the higher end 12 pro Max and the lowest end 12 mini have been subjected to his tests as well, and unsurprisingly, they performed just as well as the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro.

In the video, the two iPhones were subjected to the scratch test on the Mohs scale of hardness. While the Ceramic Shield screens have better shatter resistance, scratches does appear by level 6 but it is less noticeable. Another notable finding was that the iPhones survived a 50 second lighter test, which caused no permanent damaged either unlike any other smartphone with an OLED panel.

This might be another additional protection from the ceramic molecules on the display’s glass, although, that is just a speculation. Overall, the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini performed quite well and received praise for their durability. These handsets didn’t bend either, meaning, the Cupertino based giant placed an emphasis on the devices’ structures and build quality.

We believe one of the best ways to answer it is by comparing it to the most advanced flagships in the Android market. For this comparison, we chose two of the best Chinese flagships out there: the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra and the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. In case you do not know, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is only available in China, so, in case you need to buy one of these flagships and you are not from China, only consider the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Huawei Mate 40 Pro.

Design

iPhone 12 Pro Max, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, and Huawei Mate 40 Pro all come with an astonishing design. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is composed of a glass back with Ceramic Shield protection and a stainless steel frame. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes with a very attractive transparent glass back and an aluminum frame. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is available in a classic glass sandwich version and in a leather variant making it my favorite phone of the trio. In terms of water resistance, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the best as it is waterproof up to 6 meters deep. Huawei Mate 40 Pro has the IP68 certification as well (but it is waterproof up to 1.5m), while Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra does not offer any kind of certification against water and dust.

Display

The most interesting display belongs to the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra which can show one billion colors and features a 120 Hz refresh rate. But this does not mean that Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra guarantees the highest image quality. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is actually better in terms of image quality and it even features a higher brightness, but unfortunately, it lacks a high refresh rate. The display found on the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is inferior as it provides lower image quality, but it has a 90 Hz refresh rate. Note that Huawei Mate 40 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max can rely on 3D facial recognition for authentication, while on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra you only get an in-display fingerprint reader.

Hardware/Software

The Kirin 9000 5G chipset found on the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is the most powerful of the trio, but the iPhone 12 Pro Max provides very fast and smooth performance thanks to iOS 14. Despite having a weaker chipset (the Snapdragon 865), the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra looks more interesting than Huawei Mate 40 Pro because it packs up to 16 GB of RAM (instead of just 8 GB found on the Huawei Mate 40 Pro) and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage. Further, note that Huawei Mate 40 Pro does not include Google services in the global market (but the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is not even available globally).

Camera

The cameras of these three devices are very close, but according to tests, it looks like Huawei Mate 40 Pro is slightly better. It packs a triple camera composed of a 50 MP main sensor with omnidirectional autofocus and laser autofocus, a 12 MP periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom, and a 20 MP ultrawide sensor. While the Huawei Mate 40 Pro provides better photo quality, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has better zoom capabilities.

Battery

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has the biggest battery, but the Huawei Mate 40 Pro can last more on a single charge in several scenarios because it features a lower refresh rate and a more efficient chipset (the Kirin 9000 is built at 5 nm). Despite its smaller battery, do not underestimate the iPhone 12 Pro Max. When it comes to fast charging, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra wins the comparison thanks to its 120W technology.

Price

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is only available in China where it is priced at €840/$1000, iPhone 12 Pro Max costs €1289/$10999 globally and Huawei Mate 40 Pro starts from €1199/$1012. There is not a definitive winner in this comparison and it mostly depends on the users’ needs. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has great performances and excellent build quality, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro has an amazing camera, and Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has a great 120 Hz display. It is essentially a draw if we do not specifically know what the specific user is searching for.

All the major media houses have published their iPhone 12 Pro Max reviews a few days back. But the teardown of the phone has made to the public only now. The pictures of the most-expensive 2020 iPhone’s internals were shared by 手机正维修 on Weibo (via SeekDevice).

According to the pictures, the placement of the motherboard in the iPhone 12 Pro Max is on the left side just like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. For the unaware, the previous-generation models had it on the right side.

As a result of this, the battery is now inverted L-shaped. Most importantly, its capacity has been reduced to 3,687mAh from 3,969mAh (iPhone 11 Pro Max). Another interesting thing is that the motherboard of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is shorter than that of the iPhone 12 Pro.

Having said that, despite adding 5G support that requires more power, Apple has reduced the battery capacity across all the models of iPhone 12, compared to the iPhone 11 series.

A few weeks ago, Apple launched its new iPhone 12 series smartphones in the market and this time, the company unveiled four different models — iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max. Initially, only two phones — 12 and 12 Pro were made available for purchase.

Today, Apple has finally started accepting pre-orders for the other two models — iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max. While the Mini variant’s pricing starts at $699, the Pro Max version starts at $1,099.

The Cupertino-based giant is planning to make the new devices available in multiple countries around the world simultaneously. Pre-orders are launching in more than 50 countries and regions. Customers from the other 25 regions, including Brazil and South Korea, will be able to pre-order these phones from 20th November.

Although the company is taking pre-orders from today, i.e. 6th November, the shipments of the iPhone 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max models will start from 13th November. Monthly payment plans are also available through carriers, Apple Card Monthly Installments, apart from iPhone Upgrade Program and device trade-ins.

But the differences between the display of the Pro Max and the other variants are marginal, at least if we compare it with iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. These two handsets come with exactly the same panel, while the iPhone 12 Mini has an inferior and smaller display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (instead of 1170 x 2532 pixels of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro). These devices do not rely on an in-display fingerprint reader, but they got Face ID thanks to the sensors found in the notch.

Hardware/Software

iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Mini, and 12 Pro Max are powered by the same chipset: the Apple A14 Bionic built at 5 nm with 5G support thanks to an external modem. What changes are the memory configurations: the 12 Pro and Pro Max are actually better because they pack 6 GB of RAM, while you get just 4 GB with iPhone 12 and 12 Mini. Further, with the Pro variants, you can get up to 512 GB of internal storage instead of 256 GB. This may be relevant on a phone without expandable storage.

Camera

Besides packing more RAM, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max have a better camera department. They include two more sensors in their camera modules: a 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and OIS, and a LiDAR scanner to calculate depth info for AR appliances. With the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini, you get the same main camera and the same ultrawide camera as the Pro variants, but they lack the LiDAR scanner and the telephoto lens. There are no differences when it comes to the front cameras.

Battery

With its bigger 3687 mAh battery, 12 Pro Max is the battery life champion. Right after, we got iPhone 12 and 12 Pro with 2815 mAh, while the iPhone 12 Mini takes the last place with its 2227 mAh battery.

Price

Which iPhone should you go for? It depends on your needs. The 12 Pro Max is naturally the best, but it is costlier. You do not need it if you are not a productivity user and, if you are ok with smaller dimensions and you do not need the best cameras, the iPhone 12 Mini can be enough for you. The iPhone 12 is an iPhone 12 Mini with bigger dimensions, a bigger battery, and a slightly better display, while the 12 Pro is just a smaller Pro Max with a smaller battery. The vanilla version starts at $799/€939, 12 Pro begins at $999/€1189, iPhone 12 Mini costs $699/€839 in its base variant, and the 12 Pro Max starts from $1099/€1289 (note that prices vary depending on the market). At the Apple Event on October 13, the company brought back the MagSafe Charging technology to the iPhone 12 series. The official MagSafe accessories include a MagSafe Charger, MagSafe Charging Case, and a MagSafe Duo. However, we don’t have the details of the MagSafe Duo yet. Now, it has reportedly been certified in Korea indicating an imminent launch.

As reported by Macrumors, the “MagSafe Duo Charger” has finally hit Korea’s NRRA Certification. NRRA is Korea’s National Radio Research Agency. As per the certification, the model number of the charger is A2458. Interestingly, the charger is made in China and not in Korea. Sadly, the certification doesn’t reveal much here.

MagSafe Duo: what we know so far

Still, Apple’s Press release on its official website still includes the keywords MagSafe Duo Charger in three places along with an image. One of them says the Charger will be available at a “later date”. Anyway, at the event, Apple said that MagSafe Duo Charger can charge both the iPhone and Apple Watch simultaneously. You can take a look at the folding mechanism below:

Besides, the Duo Charger, albeit laying flat, looks very little like the reportedly canceled AirPower. This is because the images show a foldable design with what looks like soft pad material at the surface. Accordingly, Apple also said that the MagSafe Duo is light and portable for travel.

That said, the Charger aside, among the iPhone 12 series, the pre-orders of the remaining iPhone 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max are yet to begin on November 6. Also, Apple has scheduled an event on November 10 where it is expected to unveil the new ARM Macs.

So, there is a possibility that MagSafe Duo might go live around the same time but let’s wait for the official word. We got to know how the MagSafe Charging coil looks inside the iPhone 12 but will have to wait for a bit to know the insides of the MagSafe Duo.

The third has a very high screen-to-body ratio, stainless steel frame, and a single punch hole. In each case, you get an amazing build quality and a waterproof device with the IP68 certification, but the iPhone 12 Pro Max is waterproof up to 6 meters deep, while Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G go up to 1.5 meters. The design of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the trendiest one, but my favorite one is the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, despite it is the biggest device from the trio.

Display

The most stunning display belongs to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. First of all, it has a higher resolution with 1440 x 3088 pixels. Further, the refresh rate goes up to 120 Hz, while on the iPhone 12 Pro Max and on the Huawei Mate 40 Pro it stops at 60 and 90 Hz, respectively. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G has a wider diagonal and it is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, while iPhone 12 Pro Max has Ceramic Shield to improve the protection. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G and Huawei Mate 40 Pro support a stylus (S Pen and M Pen 2 respectively) which allows handwriting and drawing with up to 4096 pressure levels.

Hardware and Software

The iPhone 12 Pro Max is fueled by the most powerful and efficient processor of the trio: the Apple A14 Bionic built at 5 nm. Further, the high optimization of the iOS operating system makes the phone even faster. Despite it sports just 6 gigs of RAM, the iPhone 12 Pro Max should be the most performing device of the trio. But in each case, we are talking about top-tier flagship smartphones with no limits in every scenario. You can play the most demanding games, use the most demanding apps and you can do everything you want. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G and Huawei Mate 40 Pro run Android 10 out of the box, but Huawei Mate 40 Pro will lack Google apps in the global market, replaced by Huawei Mobile Services.

Camera

It looks like the Huawei Mate 40 Pro provides the best camera performance. It is not the most advanced device of this comparison to record videos, but it clicks the best photos. But you do not need to necessarily go for the Huawei Mate 40 Pro if you need a top camera phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G and iPhone 12 Pro Max are still amazing camera phones and they are even better at video recording.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G has the biggest battery, but its battery life is not so good. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro should be able to last a lot more on a single charge thanks to its more efficient display (with Full HD+ resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate) and more efficient chipset (the Kirin 9000 built at 5 nm). Unfortunately, no one tested the iPhone 12 ProMax because it will be available to purchase starting from November. Huawei Mate 40 Pro supports the fastest technology to charge the battery.

Price

The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a €1289/$1099 starting price, Huawei Mate 40 Pro costs €1249/$1480 globally, and Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G begins at €1309/$1299 There is not a definitive winner of this comparison: I love the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra due to its advanced S Pen and better display, but its battery life is disappointing. Huawei Mate 40 Pro has better cameras, while iPhone 12 Pro Max offers higher performance.

Yesterday, Apple held a virtual launch event to announce the iPhone 12 series and the HomePod Mini. These devices are heading to multiple markets including India in the near future. Here is all the information on the pricing of the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the HomePod Mini for India.

The 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB storage versions of the iPhone 12 mini are priced at Rs 69,900, Rs 74,900, and Rs 84,900, respectively. In the U.S, these variants are priced at $699 (~Rs 37,700), $749 (~Rs 40,400), and $849 (~Rs 45,800), respectively.

The 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB storage models of the iPhone 12 are priced at Rs 79,900, Rs 84,900, and Rs 94,990, respectively. The iPhone 12 and 12 mini were joined by the more premium iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max during Apple’s launch event held on Tuesday. The two Pro models come with several improvements over their predecessors in several aspects including a larger display, improved cameras and 5G connectivity.

The iPhone 12 Pro packs a 6.1-inch display while the 12 Pro Max packs a 6.7-inch screen. This a slight increase from the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch which the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max feature. Also, the design of the new iPhones also includes slimmer bezels which ensure the new models are not too big.

The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max also retain the OLED display and Apple left those waiting for a 120Hz refresh rate disappointed as the models both have support for 60H refresh rate only. The iPhones also retain the wide notch design with the Face ID embedded underneath. As a result, the models miss out on the under-screen fingerprint sensor.

As regards the display resolution, the iPhone 12 Pro features a resolution of 1,170 x 2,532 pixels while the Pro Max has a resolution of 1,284 x 2,778 pixel. The peak brightness remains at the impressive 1,200 nits. The Pro models equally come with the Ceramic Shield developed by Corning which has four times the drop resistance of previous the glass

The device features an updated design language with squared sides. The chassis is made from stainless steel. The Pro models come in a classic Pacific Blue as well as classics such as Gold, Gray and Silver.

The phones come with 5G support but there is a Smart Data mode which switches to 4G automatically to preserve battery. The devices will also ship without a charger and headset. But there is a USB-C to Lightning cable onboard. lets you connect the iPhone to your MacBook. Apple presented this as a move to reduce carbon emissions, a step on its path to become carbon neutral by 2030.

The Apple A14 Bionic equally fires up the iPhone 12 Pro duo. The phone comes with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage.

As for the pricing and availability, the iPhone 12 Pro starts at $1,000 and will be up on pre-order this Friday while the sales will commence next week. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will start at $1,100 for the base variant. The phone will be up for pre-order on November 6 while it will go on sale on November 13.

The Apple launch event is just hours away but the leaks are yet to stop. Shortly before the event, a last-minute leak has revealed renders of the iPhone 12 series and the HomePod Mini smart speaker.

The leak comes from Evan Blass who posted them on the new social media platform, Voice. The leak shows the aforementioned products in all the color variants they will come in when they launch later today.

iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 will come in Black, Blue, Green, Product (RED), and White. The blue variant does look really great and may turn out to be the most popular color option.

The iPhone 12 Mini has a wide notch in the front while the back is home to two cameras. The phone looks a lot like the iPhone 12 with size being the only physical difference. The above images are of the iPhone 12. For the iPhone 12 Mini, just imagine them in a smaller size.

iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max

Just like the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are also identical with size being the only distinguishing factor. The notch remains on both devices while on their backs is a triple camera setup. There is also a LiDAR scanner on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

HomePod Mini

We also get an early look at the HomePod Mini which is a smaller version of the HomePod released in 2018. Unlike its older sibling, the HomePod Mini ditches the cylindrical design for a globe-like design with a recessed top and flat bottom.

The top has two buttons – volume up and down – and it glows. The body of the speaker is covered in fabric and it will be available in Space Gray and White.

Apple is also expected to announce a wireless charger today but Evan Blass didn’t leak its renders.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 12 series tomorrow (October 13) at the “Hi, Speed” event. According to multiple leaks and rumors, the Cupertino-based tech giant will launch four iPhones this year. It is worth noting that there’s another leak, which claims the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 to start from $699 and $799, instead of the above-mentioned prices. Therefore, we would advise you to take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.

That said, talking about Kuo’s prediction, he says that the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max will only account for 20% each in terms of shipments this year. On the other hand, the regular iPhone 12 will acquire 40% of the remaining total shipments.

As per the analyst, although the iPhone 12 Mini will be the cheapest of the lots, it won’t be appealing to more customers because of its size. Whereas, the iPhone 12 with a slightly larger screen and not much expensive price tag will be more attractive to customers.

In the past, the costlier iPhone X outsold iPhone 8 models at the launch. However, in the following years, the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 sold more than the iPhone XS and iPhone 11 Pro series.

Since the world economy is severely affected by the pandemic, the prediction by ever-reliable Ming-Chi Kuo sounds right. He also adds that the inclusion of 5G won’t matter to most customers. To jog your memory, the iPhone 12 Mini, as the name suggests, will be the smallest of all with a 5.4-inch display. Whereas, the screen on the standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will measure 6.1-inch. Lastly, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will come equipped with a 6.7-inch display.

That said, although all the four models will feature OLED panels, none of them will have 120Hz refresh rate like Android flagships. But they will come with Face ID, 5G connectivity (mmWave only in Pro models), and LiDAR scanner (again, only Pro models).

Caviar, the Russian luxury company known for customizing popular phones including iPhones as announced its plans for the upcoming iPhone 12 series. According to Caviar, its customized iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will pay homage to the Apple 1.

The Apple 1 was the first computer made by Apple. It was actually hand-built by Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, and was released in 1976. The computer was discontinued on September 30, 1977 (exactly 43 years ago tomorrow) which is the reason why Caviar wants to base its next customized iPhones on it.

Caviar says there will be two versions of the customized iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. One will have a piece of the original Apple 1 motherboard stuck on the back of the phone which has a natural wood panel. Above the motherboard is a glossy titanium screen. This version called the Apple 1 will have a starting price of $10,000.

The second version called the Light version will also have a wooden back panel, feature the same “Apple” engraving on the back, but come with a much smaller piece of the Apple 1 motherboard. This version will start at $5000.

Caviar says limited quantities will be available – just 9 units of the Apple 1 and  49 units of the Light version. Expect them to be available following the release of the iPhone 12 series next month.

Last week, at the “Time Flies” event, Apple launched four new products but none of them was an iPhone. Anyway, it was not a surprise as there were multiple reports claiming there to be no iPhones in this year’s September event. But now, as we are about to enter October, new leaks have begun to pour in more information about the iPhone 12 series.

Various reports and leaks have been saying for months that there will be four iPhone 12 models this year varying by screen sizes. However, their marketing names have remained a mystery but not anymore.

A picture shared by a person going by the username @duanrui1205 on Twitter (via The Verge) showcases the stickers meant for iPhone 12 series’ silicone cases. These alleged labels for the packaging of the cases reveal the name of all the four iPhone 12 handsets.

We are aware that there will three different-sized iPhones for 2020 and they are 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch. Also, it is known that the mid-size version will include a base iPhone 12 and an expensive model (hence three sizes despite four models).

That said, the picture describes the name of the Apple iPhone 12 series to be as listed below.

• 5.4-inch – iPhone 12 Mini
• 6.1-inch – iPhone 12
• 6.1-inch – iPhone 12 Pro
• 6.7-inch – iPhone 12 Pro Max

As you can see from the list above, the smallest of the bunch will be called “Mini”, making the iPhone the fourth product category after iPod, Mac, and iPad with this branding,

Since this very same account revealed the specs of the new iPad Air 4th Generation on point with a picture of its user manual, this leak could be legit too.

With Apple iPhone 12 series launch getting closer, more details about the lineup keep surfacing online. In the latest development, a leaker known as “L0vetodream” has shed light on the naming of the upcoming smartphones.

As per the leak, the four upcoming iPhone 12 models will be called iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The 5.4-inch model of the device will be called Apple iPhone 12 Mini.

The model with a 6.7-inch display will be called iPhone 12 Pro Max while the two devices with a 6.1-inch display will be called iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. The naming scheme seems to be in line with the usual Apple iPhone naming, except for the Mini branding.

The Apple iPhone 12 Mini would be the first time for the company with a “Mini” moniker for the smartphone. The company has used the moniker for the iPad and Mac devices, so it seems possible for Apple to adopt the same for iPhones.

As per the reports, the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models of the iPhone 12 will have the same display notch like the iPhone 11 models. However, the 5.4-inch model will have a slightly narrow notch to show more information on the screen at the top edges.

Recently, it was revealed that the iPhone 12 cost somewhere between $699 to $749 while the iPhone 12 Max could be $799-849. The Pro and Pro Max models are expected to be priced around $1,100 to $1,200. To know for sure, we will have to wait for the official announcement from the company.

Just like the reports stated, instead of unveiling iPhone 12 series, Apple launched iPad 8th Generation, iPad Air 4th Generation, Apple Watch Series 6, and Apple Watch SE at the Time Flies event on September 15. Anyway, the iPhone 12 devices will certainly launch in the coming days, mostly next month but the availability of the 4 models in the series will be different.  Ahead of it, the higher-end iPhone 12 Pro Max passes through AnTuTu Benchmark revealing storage configuration and performance.

The AnTuTu Benchmark score of Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max was shared by AnTuTu itself on Weibo. The variant that was tested has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Since the amount of RAM remains the same on all the storage variants of any particular iPhone model, the only question is how many storage options will it be available in.

As per AnTuTu, 128GB could be the base variant for iPhone 12 Pro Max compared to 64GB on its predecessor. Above all, it will be the first iPhone with 6GB RAM as the model that came before it only has 4GB RAM.

Interestingly, although A14 Bionic powering it is the world’s first 5nm processor, there’s no major performance difference between A13 Bionic. Its overall score is 5,72,333 points, which is even less than Android smartphones equipped with 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 865/865+.

AnTuTu even shared an image comparing the test results of both iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The latter scored 5,24,436 points, which is only fewer by 47,897points. In other words, the upcoming iPhone will be merely ~9% more powerful than its forerunner despite a bump from 7nm to 5nm. That’s bizarre considering the performance claims by Apple.

Also, for some reason, the UX score of the iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 14.1 is lower than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. This suggests the device that was tested could be a prototype and not a production unit.

Anyway, benchmark scores don’t matter in everyday usage as good as the device performs well. The biggest takeaway from this is the presence of 6GB RAM as iPhones have always had a small amount of RAM (compared to Android smartphones) since the beginning. The extra 2GB could really come handy in multitasking.

Apple, which usually launches its new iPhone models in the month of September, will not be following the schedule this time for the iPhone 12 series because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company also confirmed that the iPhone 12 models launching this year will be “available a few weeks later.”

However, as the launch nears, more and more details about the smartphones keep surfacing online. In the latest development, YouTuber Jon Prosser has revealed details about the display and camera features.

He claims that the bezels around the display for the Apple iPhone 12 Pro model are noticeably thinner. He has also added that the display is slightly bigger which makes the notch “appear” smaller.

Further, he adds that the Face ID works from wider angles and the rear camera module is around 10 percent larger. The iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, will come with a LiDAR camera, having LiDAR-assisted autofocus.

The smartphone will also come with a 120Hz refresh rate and the company will offer an option for the users to enable the high refresh rate or adaptive refresh rate. It comes with a flat display and there’s still the pill-shaped notch on top.

As for the launch of the iPhone 12 models, it is being reported that the launch event could take place on 12th October, with pre-booking starting the same week and shipments of the base model beginning a week after that.

But it seems that not all the models will go on sale together. It is being reported that while iPhone 12 will be available for purchase in October itself, other models in the lineup, including the iPhone 12 Pro, will go on sale in November.

Earlier, Jon Prosser had said that the Apple Watch Series 6 and the unspecified iPad model will be announced without any launch event in September. This is interesting because Apple has traditionally launched the new Apple Watch along with the iPhone.

If there is any doubt about the name Apple‘s upcoming iPhone models will adopt, that may have just been put to rest by T-Mobile Netherland’s listing. The carrier has created landing pages for the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Max accessories on its official website.

The models are listed under the phone accessories search section and when clicked, the results show several available protective cases for all four iPhone 12 models. The names are already in the open courtesy of several noted tipsters and we even exclusively posted the protective cases for all the four models a while back. However, this is the first time that a carrier was officially confirming the names of Apple’s unreleased 2020 iPhone models.

Apple‘s 2020 base iPhone 12 will feature a 5.4-inch display while the top-end model will pack a 6.7-inch screen. Going by previous rumour, iPhone 12 Pro will have a triple camera setup and a Lidar sensor at the rear but the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Plus/Max is rumoured to feature a dual rear camera setup. The base model is expected to start at around $549 making it potentially the cheapest flagship iPhone in years.
