AnTuTu, the well-known benchmarking platform for mobile devices released the top 10 list of best performing flagship and midrange phones for April 2020. The top three in the flagship list are powered by Snapdragon 865 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro can be seen leading the pack. The list of midrange phone is led by Kirin 810 SoC powered Huawei Nova 7i.

AnTuTu’s top 10 best-performing flagship phones in April

As can be seen in the screenshot, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, OnePlus 8 Pro, and Xiaomi Mi 10 are placed at first, second and third, respectively on AnTuTu’s list. They have scored 593,769, 582,267, and 580,027, respectively on AnTuTu benchmarks.

The Exynos 990 powered Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and Galaxy 20+ 5G are placed fourth and fifth. The Snapdragon 855+ powered ROG Phone 2 by Asus is sixth followed by Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 that are fueled by Exynos 990. The ninth and tenth places are occupied by OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro. Both phones feature the Snapdragon 855+. Interestingly, there is now Kirin 990 5G powered Huawei / Honor phone in the list.

AnTuTu’s top 10 best-performing midrange phones in April

The Huawei Nova 7i is followed by Redmi Note 8 Pro in the second spot and Realme 6 in the third position. The Redmi and Realme phones are equipped with Helio G90T.  The Realme 6 Pro and Redmi Note 9S that are fueled by Snapdragon 720G are placed on fourth and fifth positions.

The remaining five phones on the list are all equipped with Snapdragon 730G chipset. The Realme X2, Xiaomi Mi 9T, Samsung Galaxy A80, Galaxy A71, and Xiaomi Mi Note 10 have made it to AnTuTu’s April list of best-performing midrange smartphones.

Last month, Honor unveiled the Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro, and Honor 30 Pro+ flagship phones. At March-end, the company, it had announced the Honor 30S. It arrived as an upper mid-range handset featuring the Kirin 820 5G chipset. Fresh information reveals that the company has plans to launch one more Honor 30 series phone. It may go official in June or July.

The Chinese tipster that revealed the existence of a new Honor 30 series phone did not mention its exact name. There is a possibility that this device could be the Honor 30 Lite smartphone.

The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro phones from last year have been succeeded by the Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro and Pro+ phones. The Honor 20S that was announced in September has been replaced by the Honor 30S. In April 2019, the company had launched Honor 20 Lite phone. Hence, it appears the time is due for the arrival of its successor. Hence, the Honor 30 series phone that may launch in June or July could be Honor 30 Lite (aka Honor 30 Youth Edition).

There is no word yet on the specs of the rumored Honor 30 Lite phone. The Honor 20S was driven by the Kirin 710 chipset. Its successor could be coming with Kirin 810 onboard.

On May 20, Honor will be announcing the Honor X10 series. Rumors have it that the includes Honor X10 and Honor X10 Pro smartphones. The specifications and pricing of the X10 and X10 Pro appeared over the week. The X10 is expected to launch as the cheapest 5G phone. Probably, the company will be teasing on the arrival of the rumored Honor 30 Lite after the market release of the Honor X10 series.

AnTuTu today released its top 10 charts for flagship models and at the same time, the ranking for mid-range models was also released. The ranking shows MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000L still continues to dominate this segment despite the release of a couple of new mid-range chipsets like the Kirin 820, Kirin 985 and others.

In terms of the mid-range list, with the release of multiple new machines equipped with mid-range SoCs, this month’s rankings have also changed, but they still haven’t challenged the number one OPPO Reno 3.

The OPPO Reno3 5G with a Dimensity 1000L chipset manages an average score of 405,159 points to occupy the top spot. The Kirin 820-powered Honor 30S burst into the scene to occupy the second spot, edging out the Exynos 980-powered Vivo X30 5G. The third position is occupied by another new entrant – Vivo S6 5G equipped with an Exynos 980 SoC.

The Redmi K30 5G with a Snapdragon 765G chipset is at the fourth spot while the Vivo X30 is now ranked at number 5. The sixth to tenth spots are occupied by Vivo Z6 (Snapdragon 765G), OPPO Reno 3 Pro (Snapdragon 765G), Honor 9X Pro (Kirin 810), Huawei Nova 6 SE (Kirin 810) and Honor Play 4T Pro (Kirin 810).

One important thing to note from the ranking is the gradual dominance of 5G smartphones. Apart from the bottom three Huawei models powered by the 4G Kirin 810 chipset, all other phones that make up the top 10 are 5G-enabled. This means in the next few months, we won’t only be having several flagship 5G phones but also 5G mid-rangers.

As an afterthought, I’m wondering why OEMs are still shunning the Dimensity 1000L despite its superb benchmark perform. Perhaps, benchmarks don’t sell phones, right?

The Huawei MatePad has been unveiled in China. The new tablet is a cheaper and less-powerful version of the MatePad Pro and is targeted at students.

Huawei MatePad specifications

The MatePad has a 10.4-inch 2000 x 2100 2K IPS display with moderately sized bezels of equal dimensions surrounding it. It has an aluminum frame and an aluminum backplate and is available in white and blue.

There is a Kirin 810 processor inside paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. It also has support for storage expansion via a MicroSD card slot for up to an additional 512GB.

The Huawei MatePad has an 8MP selfie camera and an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and an LED flash. The camera app has lots of features including HDR and support for time-lapse photography.

There is a 7250mAh battery inside with support for 18W wired fast charging. The tablet comes in Wi-Fi (BAH3-W09) and LTE (BAH3-AL00) variants. It also has support for Huawei’s M-Pencil active stylus but doesn’t ship with one. It runs EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 out of the box.

Features

Huawei has designed the tablet for learning and packs it with features to make it learning-friendly. The tablet is designed for both kids, teenagers, and adults and comes with content for all ages. There is a custom desktop mode that puts educational apps and content right in front of the user once the tablet is unlocked.

Another feature is the display which has a TÜV Rheinland certification. The tablet can automatically adjust brightness and contrast and also has a switch to activate a monochrome mode.

With the M-Pencil, owners can take notes just as they would with a regular pen and notebook. They can also draw, make sketches, and practice calligraphy.

Huawei says the MatePad has four speakers with Histen 6.0 and Harman Kardon Audio so users can clearly hear the voice of their tutors or whatever they are listening to. It also has four microphones that cancel out background noise and picks up the user’s voice when engaging with a tutor online.

Last but not least is the seamless integration between the tablet and the phone. This way, you can easily drag and drop content from one device to another. This feature is limited to devices running EMUI.

Huawei MatePad Price and Availability

The MatePad starts at ¥1899 (~$269) for the Wi-Fi-only base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. A Wi-Fi-only 6+128GB version sells for ¥2199 (~$311) and an LTE version with the same configuration is pried at ¥2499 (~$353). The tablet will go on sale on April 26 on Vmall.com.

Rival brand Huawei has now unveiled a new tablet called Huawei MatePad 10.4. It is lower version of the MatePad Pro 5G tablet that is driven by the Kirin 990 5G chipset. The MatePad 10.4 comes with an impressive large-sized display and it is fueled by the Kirin 810 chipset. The pre-orders for the new tablet from Huawei have started on Vmall.

Based on previous reports, it can be said that the Huawei MatePad 10.4 is equipped with an IPS LCD panel that produces 1200 x 200 pixels resolution. The Kirin 810 chipset is present under the hood of the device. The tablet comes with up to 6 GB of RAM and built-in storage of up to 128 GB.

The Huawei MatePad 10.4 draws power from a 7,250mAh capacity battery and weighs 450 grams. The device is fitted with four speakers. Its front and rear sides are flanked with 8-megapixel cameras. The MatePad 10.4 is now up for pre-orders in China with a nominal deposit amount of 100 Yuan (~$14). The Chinese firm will be launching it on April 23 and its first sale will be carried out on April 26.

The tablet will be available in Wi-Fi only editions such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. There is a 4G edition that comes with 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The pricing of the MatePad 10.4 variants are currently under the wraps. It will be available in a single color of Fritillary White.

A fresh leak reveals that Huawei is working on an upper mid-range MatePad tablet powered by Kirin 810 chipset. The exact product name of the device is not known yet. However, the new leak has revealed its key specifications and images.

The images of the Huawei MatePad 10.4 in Fritillaria White and Ye Lan Gray color editions. The rear shell of the device has an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash.  Coming to the front, the device is equipped with a 10.4-inch display panel that produces 1200 x 2000 pixels resolution. The device has a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. The leak also states that the tablet will arrive with support for stylus.

The MatePad 10.4 has a big battery of 7,250mAh capacity. There is no word on whether it supports fast charging. The EMUI 10.1 Lite probably overlaid on Android 10 OS will come loaded on the device. On Thursday, Honor will be announcing the Honor Play 4T series of smartphones such as Honor Play 4T and Honor Play 4T Pro. Both phones have appeared on TENAA with their entire specifications. Even the appearances of both phones are known since they are listed for reservations in China. The Chinese firm has already revealed that the Honor Play 4T Pro is powered by Kirin 810. However, the name of the processor that fuels the Honor Play 4T was not known. A fresh report on 91mobiles that cites leaked information from tipster Ishan Agarwal reveals that the Play 4T is driven by the dated Kirin 710A SoC.

Honor Play 4T and Play 4T Pro specifications (Rumored)

The Honor Play 4Tv will have 6.4-inch IPS LCD HD+ panel with 261ppi pixel density support. The punch-hole screen has an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The back panel of the phone is decked with an LED flash assisted 48-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera system and a fingerprint scanner.

AnTuTu recently released the top 10 most-powerful flagship models that have run through the benchmark app in March. The benchmark outfit equally released the top 10 most powerful mid-range models for March 2020. The top 10 most-powerful mid-range models are powered by just five mid-range SoCs, with the Kirin 810 chipset having the widest spread.

The star of the moment still remains the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L SoC powering the OPPO Reno3 5G. The processor maintained its lead of this category with an average score of 407340 points. That is a wide gap between the Reno3 5G and the Exynos 980-powered Vivo X30 5G in the second spot. The gap between the first and second-ranked model is more than 80,000 points, showing the prowess of the Dimensity 1000L. The Reno3 5G was launched in December 2019 and has stayed consecutively atop AnTuTu’s midrange chart since January, thanks to the MediaTek SoC.

The Dimensity 1000L is built with a 7nm process and uses the Cortex-A77 architecture in an octa-core arrangement. The GPU uses the G77 architecture and the SoC also comes with built-in 5G baseband. The chipset equally supports NSA / SA dual-mode 5G.

The Redmi K30 5G packing a Snapdragon 765G processor maintained the third position. OPPO’s latest Reno3 Pro 5G enters at the fourth spot. The four models are the only 5G model in the top 10 midrange chart.

Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 810 chipset propelled five different Huawei and Honor models into the list. The phones include the Honor 9X Pro, Huawei Nova 6 SE, Honor 9X, Honor 20S and the Huawei Nova 5i, all occupying the fifth to ninth spots in that order.

Another MediaTek chipset, the Helio G90T makes the cut onboard the Redmi Note 8 Pro and with an average score of 289257 points.

With the launch of several models powered by the Snapdragon 765G, we expect the list to change pretty soon but the Dimensity 1000L’s dominance doesn’t seem to have any contender. However, the top 10 mid-range chart may soon be dominated by 5G phones in the coming months considering the rising number of 5G mid-range phones that are being released in quick succession.

The Honor Play 4T will be made official on April 9. Ahead of the launch, some of the known retailer sties of China such as JD, Suning and Tmall have started with the reservations of the Play 4T. Interestingly, the reservation pages on JD reveals that the company will be not only launching the Play 4T and Play 4T Pro phones.

The images that have surfaced on reservations pages show that there are two kinds of Play 4T. One of them has a waterdrop notch and under-display fingerprint sensor. This handset could be the Honor Play 4T Pro. The handset can be seen in black, green and gradient white colors.

On the other side, there is a variant that features a punch-hole screen and a conventional fingerprint sensor on its rear. This device is likely to debut as Honor Play 4T. Apart from green, the handset could be available in other color choices.

Huawei will be launching the P40 series of flagship phones on March 26. It said to include devices such as Huawei P40, P40 Pro and P40 Premium Edition. The P40 lineup also has the Huawei P40 Lite that has gone official now. The handset is a rebranded version of the Huawei Nova 6 SE smartphone that was announced in China in December along with the Kirin 990 chipset powered Huawei Nova 6.

Huawei P40 Lite specifications and features

The Huawei P40 Lite phone has 159.2 x 76.3 x 8.7mm and it weighs 183 grams. The phone features an IPS LCD display with a punch-hole at its top-left corner. The 6.4-inch display produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2310 pixels. The P40 Lite delivers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.6 percent.

The 7nm Kirin 810 chipset powers the smartphone with 6 GB of RAM. The device is equipped with an internal storage of 128 GB. An expansion slot is available for expanding the storage of the device. The EMUI 10 based Android 10 OS is preloaded on the device. It does not feature Google Mobile Services (GMS).

Honor as well as its parent company, Huawei will both hold an online event on February 24. It has now been revealed that Honor’s event which is called the All-Scenario Intelligence Conference will also double as the global launch of the Honor 9X Pro.

According to Android Authority, Honor stated in a press release sent to them that the Honor 9X Pro will be its “first HMS-based smartphone”. HMS is short for Huawei Mobile Services and is the solution Huawei came up with as an alternative to Google Mobile Services (GMS). This info nullifies the earlier report that the Honor View 30 will be the first HMS-based smartphone.

The Honor 9X was already announced in China more than six months ago but it will just be getting a global launch. The phone has a Kirin 810 processor which is more powerful than the Kirin 710/Kirin 710F found in the global version of the Honor 9X.

The press release also revealed that Honor will also announce new MagicBook laptops. These should be the Honor MagicBook 14 and MagicBook 15 that launched in China last November. It remains to be seen if Honor will launch the Intel version or Ryzen version or both.

The Honor 9X Pro has a 6.59-inch 1080 x 2340 display. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage. There is a 16MP motorized pop-up selfie camera and a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup on the back. Honor has included a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and ships it with a 4000mAh battery and Android 9 Pie.

The Huawei Nova 7i is priced at RM 1,099 (~$265). This comes as a major surprise since the Nova 6 SE is priced at CNY 2,199 (~$312) despite being the same device. Not that we are complaining! The Nova 7i will launch in three color options, namely Emerald Green, light blue and pink gradient and black. Buyers in Malaysia will be provided with a free Huawei Band 4 on purchase of Huawei Nova 7i.

Huawei’s press release confirms that the smartphone will launch on February 14. Although the Nova 7i is the first device to flaunt the ‘7’ moniker, it is not a new design. In fact, Huawei Nova 7i moniker is a rebranded version of the Huawei Nova 6 SE that went official in China in December 2019. Due to the lack of Google Services on the Nova 7i, users will have to rely entirely on installing unverified APKs, and the Huawei App Gallery.

Huawei Nova 7i Features and Specifications

The Nova 7i flaunts a 6.4-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2310 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of a conventional rear panel-mounted design or under-display module. The smartphone is powered by a 2.27 GHz octa-core Kirin 810 chipset with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage, expandable up to 256 GB via a microSD card.

In terms of optics, the Huawei Nova 7i flaunts a quad-camera setup at the rear, complete with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and two 2-megapixel sensors for macro and depth photography. Huawei had unveiled the Huawei Nova 6 SE smartphone along with the Huawei Nova 6 flagship phone at the beginning of this month. As it was announced at the unveil event, the Nova 6 SE was made available for pre-orders in the home market. Starting from today, the smartphone is available for purchase with a price tag of 2,199 Yuan. Customers who had pre-ordered the device will be receiving the phone at a discounted price tag of 2,149 Yuan.

Huawei Nova 6 SE Specifications and Features

The Huawei Nova 6 SE smartphone comes with a 6.4-inch IPS LCD display that produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2310 pixels. There is a punch-hole on the screen at the top-left corner. The 7nm Kirin 810 chipset fuels the smartphone. The SoC is coupled with 8 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 128 GB. There is a shared SIM slot to add a nanoSD card to the device.

The Nova 6 SE is fitted with a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel.  The backside of the device has a triple camera setup with a 48-megapixel main lens with PDAF and f/1.8 aperture. The series will also include a Lite model that may go official before the P40 and P40 Pro phones. Rumors have it that the Nova 6 SE smartphone could be rebadged as Huawei P40 Lite in certain markets. The device is priced at 2,199 Yuan (~$314). However, customers who pre-order it with 1 Yuan will be provided with a discount of 51 Yuan (~$7). Hence, customers who book the device during the pre-order period can get it for 2,149 Yuan (~$307).

The Huawei Nova 6 SE has a 6.4-inch IPS LCD punch-hole display that offers 1080 x 2310 pixels full HD+ resolution. The 8nm Kirin 810 chipset is present under the hood of the phone. The phone houses a 4,200mAh battery that carries support for 40W SuperCharge fast charging technology. Within 30 minutes, the phone’s battery can reach 70 percent capacity through rapid charging.

Huawei is scheduled to launch the Huawei Nova 6 at an event in China on Dec. 5. Apart from the 4G and 5G variants of the Nova 6, the company is also expected to unveil the Nova 6 SE. This is not the first time the Nova 6 SE has been mentioned in public. Popular tipster Evan Blass had mentioned about the existence of the device earlier in November. Initial renders of the Nova 6 SE surfaced over the past weekend, revealing quite a few features of the smartphone.

Android Headlines shared a couple of images of the Nova 6 SE yesterday. Although the green filter makes it impossible to identify the actual color variant, a quad-camera setup at the rear is prominent. The Nova 6 SE also gets a punch-hole display, instead of the Nova 6’s dual selfie camera setup. While initial rumors suggested that the rear camera layout would be vertically-aligned, the new images revealed a square layout, with an LED flash housed below the unit.

The Honor V30 has been reported to have a Pro version with additional features. However, we may be getting more than two devices at the Honor event whose date is still unknown. There are reports the Honor Tab 6 will be unveiled too.

A Weibo post by a user who goes by the name Changan Digital Jun made a post about the Honor Tab 6 likely launching at the Honor V30 conference. He adds that the tablet will come with a Kirin 810 processor. However, he states that the info was heard from two friends talking and it may be false info.

The Honor Tab 5 was announced in March of this year. It launched with an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 display, a Kirin 710 processor, and a 5100mAh battery. It is available in 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB variants with support for expandable storage. It has stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos and LTE.

We expect its successor will come with a new version of Magic UI probably based on Android 10. It should also have support for faster charging since the Honor Tab 5 only supports 10W charging.

Honor has just confirmed that the Honor 9X will arrive in Europe shortly. The smartphone launched in China back in July 2019. The Honor 9X is perhaps the last Google-supported device from the Chinese tech giants before the US Trade Ban took effect. The smartphone uses the Android OS and offers a full suite of Google’s interactive and support services. However, the breaking news is that the international model has some differences as compared to its Chinese version. The device is powered by a different processor and flaunts a 48-megapixel primary camera. The global variant of the Honor 9X borrows the specifications of the Chinese Honor 9X Pro but drops the ‘Pro’ badging.

Honor 9X (International Edition) Specifications and Features

The Honor 9X flaunts a 6.59-inch IPS LCD notch-less screen with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device draws power from a Kirin 710F SoC instead of Kirin 810 and is available with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. Honor also plans to launch the 6GB + 128GB variant in certain markets. Both devices feature expandable storage up to 512GB with a microSD card.

The Honor 9X features a triple camera layout at the back. The primary unit is a 48-megapixel primary camera with an aperture rating of f/1.8. Although it can record videos at 1080 pixels, the AI video stabilization stops working beyond 720p. The second camera uses an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor for a 120-degree field-of-view. The third lens is a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera is a 16-megapixel pop-up unit.

The Honor 9X draws power from a 4,000 mAh battery with 10W charging. This is not a problem since Honor has kept the 3.5mm AUX port. Users can listen to music while recharging their smartphones. The smartphone runs on the Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.1. The device supports the Google Play Store and Google Play Services. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS and A-GPS. and supports face unlock. Honor offers the GPU Turbo 3.0 boost that promises to smooth out the 9X’s performance during gaming. The other change on the international variant is the presence of a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The Chinese model has a side-mounted fingerprint reader.  

The Honor 9X features holographic X pattern that appears on the rear panel. The design moves around forming rhombic patterns as light is reflected off of its surface. Expect the smartphone to be priced around 350 euros (~$388). Honor is yet to officially announce the pricing and launch date of the international edition.

The Honor 9X variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage respectively costed 1,899 Yuan (~$269) and 2,099 Yuan (~$297). With the 100 Yuan (~$14) price cut, these variants can be availed respective revised costs of 1,799 Yuan (~$255) and 1,999 Yuan (~$283).

The other variants of the Honor 9X such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage are respectively priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$198) and 1,599 Yuan (~$226). These models haven’t received a price cut.

The Honor 9X Pro with 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage that was priced at 2,399 Yuan (~$339) at launch is now available for 2,199 Yuan (~$311) after a discount of 200 Yuan (~$28).. The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage which is the other variant continues to sell at 2,199 Yuan. Hence, both of the Honor 9X Pro are now available at same pricing in China. The new price cut could be a limited period offer.

The all new Honor 20 Lite will be made official on Oct. 22. The reservations of the smartphone have started on Vmall and JD.com. The handset will be arriving in three colors like Blue Water Jade, Midnight Black and Icelandic Fantasy. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has shared a real image of the Icelandic Fantasy Honor 20 Lite smartphone. It has also revealed that even though it houses a large-sized battery, it sports a slim and lightweight body.

Honor claims that the Honor 20 Lite has a small and slender chassis with a width of 73.5mm. It houses a 4,000mAh battery and weighs 172 grams. Through TENAA listing it has been revealed that the length of the smartphone is 157.2mm and it houses a big full HD+ display of 6.3 inches.

In the image shown below, the handset can be seen sporting rounded corners. It has a volume rocker and a power button the right edge. An external speaker and a USB-C are available on the bottom edge. The renders of the phone that have appeared on JD.com have revealed that it has a 3.5mm audio jack on its top edge.

IT could be the Honor Note series smartphone. The exact name of the phone is not known yet. Last year’s Note model was dubbed as Honor Note 10. Hence, it remains to be seen whether its successor will be called Honor Note 10 or Note 30.

Chinese benchmark outfit Master Lu has released a list of the top-ranking phones that have been benchmarked on its app with the best fluidity in terms of the System user interface (UI). The ranking takes into consideration the system’s file copying speed, desktop slider response, web page loading time, boot loader, app response during usage, photo viewing experience and several user experiences. These parameters are used to verify the adaptability, optimization and fluidity of the mobile phone’s system UI.

The list shows that the top three most fluid smartphones in July are the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, ASUS ROG Gaming Phone 2 and ZTE AXON 10 Pro 5G. Their scores are 146.41, 144.29 and 141.98 respectively. As a reminder, the Kirin 980 powers the Mate 20 X 5G while the ASUS ROG 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and Snapdragon 855 for the Axon 10 5G.

Master Lu, a benchmarking platform for smartphones from China has released its list of top 10 best performing smartphones for July 2019. The list includes some smartphones that are powered by new chipsets such as Snapdragon 855+, Kirin 810, Snapdragon 730, Snapdragon 730G and Helio P65. The list is led by the ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G gaming smartphone.

The Axon 10 Pro 5G leads Master Lu’s best performing smartphones list with 409,008 score. It is followed by Snapdragon 855+ powered ASUS ROG Phone 2 gaming smartphone with a score 390,015. Placed on the third position is the Snapdragon 845 powered iQOO Neo gaming phone with a score 330,801. Master Lu claimed since the benchmarked ROG Phone 2 was an engineering unit, it recorded a low score. Probably, the final product is benchmarked, it may take over the numero uno position on Master Lu benchmarks list. By next month, the list may include new phones like Black Shark 2 Pro and iQOO Pro 5G phones that are powered by Snapdragon 855+.

Last week, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had confirmed that it will be soon entering into consumer electronics market with the release of ‘Honor Smart Screen’ TV. Honor India President Charles Peng has confirmed through an interview with PTI news agency that the company will be soon introducing its smart TV in India. He also revealed that the Honor 9X series of smartphones that have gone official recently in China will be also coming to India.

Peng said, “We recently announced the launch of a brand-new large-screen category, Smart Vision Smart TV. This indicates that the large-screen industry will enter the smart screen era from the traditional TV era. The first product of the new category will be officially released in early August and we might bring it to the Indian market soon.” He added, “We will launch newer products and establish an ecosystem of technologically advanced and high-quality devices in India.” 

Huawei’s sub-brand is also planning to bring Honor 8X successor to India. Peng stated, “We will launch the next X series phone in India soon. The phone is a successor to Honor 8X launched in India last year, which was a huge rage with the youth in India and has received an overwhelming response.”

In May, the US government had imposed trade ban on Huawei which disallowed U.S. companies to work with the Chinese firm. Earlier this month, the ban was lifted with multiple restrictions. Peng said that regardless of the recent US ban, the restricted supplies from the U.S. won’t affect its smartphones.

Chinese actress Guan Xiaotong has shared some selfie samples that are snapped using the Nova 5i Pro smartphone. The impressive clarity in selfie images that were captured in dim-light conditions show that the phone could be equipped with some sort of night scene optimization feature. This could be the reason why the phone was able to capture not only the subject but also the background with good clarity. It is already known through the TENAA listing of the Mate 30 Lite that it is equipped with a front-facing camera of 32-megapixel.

The Huawei Nova 5i Pro could be featuring identical specs as the Mate 30 Lite handset. Through the TENAA listing of the Mate 30 Lite, it has been found that it is equipped with a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display with a punch-hole at the top-left corner. The rear side of the phone features a quad camera setup that includes a main sensor of 48-megapixel, an 8-megapixel lens, a 2-megapixel snapper and another 2-megapixel lens. A fingerprint scanner is also found on the rear side of the smartphone.

The Mate 30 Lite is expected to come with 6 GB and 8 GB RAM options. These RAM variants may respectively feature 128 GB and 256 GB of native storage. It will be having a microSD card slot for additional storage. The smartphone will be housing a 4,000mAh battery that may carry support for 20W fast charging. The Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro smartphones will be made official today at 2:30 PM (local time) in China. Ahead of the launch, a listing Honor 9X Pro at China Telecom’s store has been spotted by ITHome. The listing has revealed the pricing and entire specifications of the smartphone.

Honor 9X Pro Price and Release Date

According to the Tianyi store listing of China Telecom, the Honor 9X Pro that has a model number of HLK-AL00 will be available in two models in China such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. The listing reveals that the latter will be priced at 2,999 Yuan. The publication did not reveal the pricing of the 128 GB storage model of the Honor 9X Pro.

It will be available in colors like Magic Night Black, Phantom Blue and Phantom Violet. The listing says that the Honor 9X Pro will be releasing in the Chinese market on July 25. The images of the phone available on the listing shows the marvelous X-shaped pattern on its Phantom Blue color edition.

The Huawei Nova 5i Pro is an upcoming smartphone from the company. Multiple leaks have already revealed plenty of information about the smartphone. Rumors are rife that the same phone will be debuting soon in China as Huawei Mate 30 Lite. The handset has already with full specs on the database of China’s TENAA telecom authority. A leakster from China has shared fresh images of Nova 5i Pro on Weibo. The SPN-AL00 model number present on it suggests that the images actually belong to the Mate 30 Lite smartphone.

The images of the Huawei Mate 30 Lite show that it features a punch-hole display. The rear design is very similar to the Mate 20 smartphone from last year. There is a square-shaped camera module present on the backside of the phone it includes an LED flash and three camera sensors. A fingerprint scanner is available below the camera system. The Mate 30 Lite’s back panel features a textured glass rear that is fitted with a square-shaped camera system that includes four camera sensors and an LED flash alongside it.

Chinese smartphone benchmark app Master Lu has released the benchmark score of two of Huawei‘s Kirin 810-powered smartphones. The Hisilicon Kirin 810 chipset was launched onboard the Huawei Nova 5 a few weeks back. It is also expected to be on board the upcoming Honor 9X.

The data released shows the Honor 9X scored a total of 270,037 points while the Huawei Nova 5 seems to have a higher clock speed, polling a total of 278,181 points. This is over 20,000 points higher than the Snapdragon 730-powered Redmi K20’s Master Lu benchmark score.

Master Lu acknowledged that since the two Huawei phones are yet to go on sale, there’s the possibility that the score of the test units and that of the commercial units may be different. However, the difference may not be too significant.

Master Lu stressed that since both models have not yet been sold, the current number of test models is small, and it is not possible to rule out the possibility that the scores will fluctuate later. However, with the scores of Huawei’s nova 5 and glory 9X, the performance of the Kirin 810 is almost similar to the Samsung Exynos 9810 which is Samsung’s 2018 flagship SoC. The chipset seems to surpass all others in the mid-range category and that is pretty impressive.

As a reminder, the HiSilicon Kirin 810 is an octa-core processor which is built on TSMC’s 7nm node. It comes equipped with two Cortex-A76 high-performance large cores clocked at 2.27 GHz and six Cortex-A55 energy-efficient small cores clocked at 1.88 GHz. It is coupled with Mali-G52 GPU for graphics processing. It also comes with the new Huawei DaVinci architecture NPU, which consumes less energy and has artificial intelligence (AI) technology running at over 32,280 points. s stated, the AI performance of the Kirin 810 even surpasses that of the flagship Snapdragon 855.

The Honor 9X Pro is up for reservations in China. The reservations page of the phone on Vmall has an image that showcases its front and rear design. However, the leaked images released by MySmartPrice offers a clearer look at the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro.

The Honor 9X and 9X Pro leaked images show that these handsets spot identical design. The front side of both smartphones mainly features notch-less display which indicates that it will be equipped with an elevating camera for capturing selfie shots. The right side of the phone features a volume rocker and the regression below it suggests that it could be for the fingerprint sensor enabled power key.  the chin of the device is of the Honor 9X series is slightly thick compared to its other bezels.

The Honor 9X has a black colored rear that seems to be made out of glass. It has a vertical camera unit at the top-left corner which houses two camera sensors and an LED flash. The “48 MP AI Camera” text can be seen alongside the camera module.

The benchmark result confirms the Honor 9X runs Android 9 Pie and is powered by the Kirin 810 processor. It also has a Mali-G52 GPU. The variant benchmarked has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone also packs a display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution.

The AnTuTu score is 219,809 points but it trails behind the Huawei Nova 5 which also uses the same processor but scored 237,437 points. It is important to note that the Nova 5 that was benchmarked has 8GB of RAM. While that may influence the score, optimizations will also play a part. The benchmarked Honor 9X is said to be a prototype, so the final product may have a higher score.

The Honor 9X will have a 6.59-inch LCD display powered by a 3900mAh battery. It will have a 16MP pop-up selfie camera and 48MP + 2MP dual rear cameras. The phone will be available in three variants – 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. It will also have support for storage expansion and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
