He hinted that the update has been in the works for quite a while now and it is close to being released. The Lenovo exec also shared the changelog of the update showing some of the features it would bring to the device.

Topmost on the list of features the update will bring is the ability to sync iCloud and Xiaomi account contacts. Lenovo has been able to attain interconnectivity between Android and iOS as early as on the ZUK Z2 released back in May 2016. As a result of that, users can synchronise their contacts, calendars, tasks, etc. on Apple’s iCloud. So, this isn’t much of a new feature. However, the interesting part is the support for Xiaomi account that the update will bring. This is a new high for Lenovo as it will possibly allow users of the Z5s to now synchronise their phones with Mi cloud especially if they are switching over from a Xiaomi phone. Thus, you don’t have to lose your contacts if you’re swapping phones.

The changelog also shows the update will bring optimization to the alarm clock display details, improve weather app, add weather warning reminders and also optimize the sound adjustment experience. The update will also add other features like Quick switch, vibration to the control centre, among others. Mr Chang did not provide a time frame for the release of the new update.

That is why we think it is time to compare it with the best smartphones for quality-price ratio you can get at this moment. Among the most interesting ones there are Lenovo Z5s that is one of the cheapest smartphones with Snapdragon 710, and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 that is one of the phones with the longest battery life. If you want to know who is the best, go ahead with this specs comparison.

Design

Its narrower bezels, its thin profile, and its gradient color variants make me prefer Lenovo Z5s when it comes to aesthetics. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful handset of the trio and it is also the most compact and lightweight. Right after that there is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 with its minimal waterdrop notch. Even though I like Lenovo Z5s’ look more, I would pick the Redmi Note 7 due to its better build quality. Indeed, it comes with strengthened glasses and the Gorilla Glass 5 protection making it more sturdy and resistant. Further, it is water and dust resistant, even though the company did not talk about any IP certification. Note that even Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 has a strong protection for the display: Gorilla Glass 6, which is the strongest one. But it is not water resistant and it has a plastic body, despite it looks like glass at a first glance.

Display

The clearest and most performing display seems to be the one of the Lenovo Z5s, and it also comes with narrower bezels around it. But the difference between this screen and the ones of Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 should be just marginal. The level of detail is the same and the color reproduction does not differ so much. So, if you have to make a choice, consider the other specifications instead of focusing on the display quality.

Specs & Software

The most powerful hardware side belongs to the Lenovo Z5s. As we said above, it is one of the most affordable devices to sport the best midrange SoC by Qualcomm: the octa-core Snapdragon 710 running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz. Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 are equipped with the lower-end Snapdragon 660: they still offer great performances but they are slower than Lenovo Z5s in the most demanding scenarios. Note that while Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Lenovo Z5s come with Android Pie out of the box, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is still based on Android Oreo.

Camera

The most outstanding rear camera is the one of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, at least on the paper. The reason is simple: it is one of the first phones with the amazing 48 MP Samsung ISOCELL sensor which is able to capture a huge amount of detail and bright shots even with low-light conditions. Lenovo Z5s is an awesome camera phone too, even though it is far from top camera phones. It comes with a triple camera equipped with a telephoto lens for 2x lossless zoom and a depth sensor. The most disappointing on the camera side is definitely the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 with its average dual camera.

Battery

While Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2’s cameras are not excellent, the handset wins the comparison when it comes to battery life, thanks to its huge 5000 mAh unit. It can last more than two days with a stressed use, reaching three days of battery life with a moderate use. At the second place, there is Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 with a 4000 mAh unit, while Lenovo Z5s offers an average battery life.

Price

I define the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 as the highest value for money phone of this trio: it costs just $147/€170 in China and it comes with outstanding cameras as well as a very long battery life. However, you should go for the Lenovo Z5s if you want better performances, while if you get Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 you will have an even longer battery life. Lenovo Z5s is available with a listing price tag of about €220/$250, while Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 starts from about €200/$230.

Both manufacturers will be bringing their latest smartphones.

Lenovo confirmed it will be at the show which holds in Las Vegas and they will be bringing along the Lenovo Z5s. The Lenovo Z5s was released last month as Lenovo’s first phone with triple rear cameras.

The Z5s sports a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2340 display with a water-drop notch. It is powered by the Snapdragon 710 processor with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. The triple rear cameras are a 16MP f/1.8 wide angle sensor, an 8MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and a 5MP depth sensor. You also get a 16MP selfie camera, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3,300mAh battery and ZUI 10 based on Android Pie.

Although Lenovo says it is taking the phone to the US, the possibility of it getting a North American launch is low or even non-existent. The Motorola brand is what Lenovo pushes in the US and there is no inclination that will change soon.

Nubia, on the other hand, will likely be taking its latest gaming phone, the Red Magic Mars, to CES 2019. It has been counting down to the event on its official Twitter and the posters say “Next-gen Mobile Gaming”.

The Red Magic Mars has a 6-inch 1080 x 2160 display, a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB/8GB/10GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB of storage. A single 16MP camera sits on its back and there is an 8MP camera for selfies.

The phone has a customizable LED strip on the back right below the fingerprint sensor. It also has a 3,800mAh battery, runs Android Pie, DTS surround audio, stereo speakers, 4D Shock haptic feedback, and two touch-sensitive buttons on the side that act as shoulder buttons.

That is why we think a comparison between them could be very useful for people searching for a new affordable device.

Design

Noone of these handsets has a midrange-class design and all of them have a premium look thanks to their outstanding glass backs. I personally prefer the Lenovo Z5s due to its higher screen-to-body ratio, the availability in gradient color variants and its smaller waterdrop notch, but Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is not bad as well with its stunning reflective back. Nokia X7 does not match my tastes because of its anonymous look and a too big notch.

Display

We told you several times that if you want a very good display, then you should opt for a flagship. On midrange devices, you will rarely find a high-end display, and the same is for these three devices. Lenovo Z5s is slightly superior in my opinion because it has a slightly bigger screen and the LTPS technology, but the differences are marginal and you should not care a lot about it. Instead, it is better to consider other important specs such as performance and battery life.

Specs & Software

For a simple mid-ranger, these smartphones deliver awesome performances thanks to their great hardware components. Nokia X7 and Lenovo Z5s are the ones with the best performance as they are equipped with an octa-core Snapdragon 710 SoC by Qualcomm, while Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes with a lower-end Snapdragon 660. Nokia X7 should be slightly better thanks to Android One, a stock and lightweight version of the operating system which gets also updated in a faster and constant way. Also note that Lenovo Z5s and Nokia X7 come with Android Pie out of the box, while Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is still based on Android Oreo.

Camera

Given that it was announced a few days ago, we still had no chance to test the cameras of Lenovo Z5s. But we believe that its triple camera should provide more interesting shots thanks to the bright aperture, a secondary sensor for 2x optical zoom and a third depth sensor. On the other hand, Nokia X7 is amazing too with its dual camera sporting Carl Zeiss lens and OIS. It will be a hard fight between these two devices, while Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is definitely worse with an average 12 MP dual camera.

Battery

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is the king of battery and it is among the best Android phones for battery life. It has a huge 5000 mAh unit and it can last up to two full days even with intensive use. Lenovo Z5s and Nokia X7 are not phones focused on battery, but they provide a sufficient battery life in every scenario.

Price

Nokia X7 is the only handset which comes with a much higher price tag than its rivals. It was recently launched in the global market for about €400, while you can get Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Lenovo Z5s in China for about €200. I would personally choose the Lenovo Z5s due to its amazing performance, great cameras, and stunning design, as well as its quality-price ratio. But Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is the perfect phone for everyone who is searching for a phone with a great battery life, which is, in my opinion, the most important thing in midrange phones.

Design

The aesthetic differences between Lenovo Z5s, Huawei P Smart 2019 and Honor 10 Lite are just marginal. Honor 10 Lite is the one I like more because of its cleaner design, but some may prefer Lenovo Z5s because of its more magnetic gradient colors. Whatever you choose, you will get a beautiful device with an awesome glass back. If you want better build quality, you should go for the Lenovo Z5s because it is the only with the Gorilla Glass protection, so it should be more resistant.

Display

Displays are not a key point of these smartphones. They have midrange-class IPS panels. Honor 10 Lite should be the inferior one as it does not feature the LTPS technology, unlike its rivals. Huawei P Smart (2019) is my favorite because it has a smaller notch, but at the same time, it has slightly thicker bezels and, as said above, it does not seem to feature the Gorilla Glass protection, unlike Lenovo Z5s.

Specs & Software

Lenovo Z5s is a champion of performances in its price range. It comes with a Snapdragon 710 chipset which provides way faster and smoother performances than Kirin 710 in every scenario, with a 10 nm production process and a max frequency of 2.2 GHz. It also comes with up to 6 GB of RAM. Huawei P Smart 2019 is the most disappointing one as it only features 3 GB of RAM, while Honor 10 Lite sits in the middle with Kirin 710 and up to 6 GB of RAM.

Camera

If we talk about the rear camera setup, Lenovo Z5s is a superior handset thanks to its triple camera composed of a main 16 MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a third sensor which is able to capture depth info. If we talk about the front camera, Honor 10 Lite should be better with its AI-backed 24 MP snapper. Huawei P Smart (2019) is disappointing on both sides even though its camera quality is sufficient for its price tag.

Battery

Given that Lenovo Z5s is still not on the shelves, we still can not give you info about its battery life, but we believe that, even though it has a slightly smaller battery, it might last more than its opponent because of its well-optimized SoC. Further, it is the only phone of the trio to support a fast charging technology, while Huaei P Smart 2019 and Honor 10 Lite come with standard 5V / 2A charging.

Price

There is no challenge, Lenovo released a device with an outstanding price tag, at least regarding the Chinese market. If it lands in Europe and its price does not raise a lot, Lenovo Z5s may become the best-buy of the moment. It is the winner the comparison and it was launched with a price tag of about €220/$202. Huawei P Smart 2019 costs about €250/$285 in Europe and it is a cool price for a device like this, but Honor 10 Lite costs less despite being a better device than Huawei P Smart (2019), so it takes the second place of this comparison. You can find it for just €240/$274 in Europe. But at the end of the day, I would definitely choose Lenovo Z5s even if it had a sub-€300/$343 price tag.

Earlier today, Lenovo Group VP Chang Cheng shared new information on the Lenovo Z5s smartphone. The Chinese text on the new teaser suggest that the phone could be equipped more than 8 GB of RAM. Hence, netizens are now speculating whether the Lenovo Z5s will be featuring 10 GB of RAM.

The below teaser which hints 10 GB of RAM for the Lenovo Z5s has an image of Formula 1 racing car. This indicates that the smartphone will deliver speedy performance. Rumors have claimed that like the Lenovo Z5 Pro, the upcoming Lenovo Z5s will be also featuring Snapdragon 710. However, using 10 GB of RAM with Snapdragon 710 does not sound like a powerful combination. Hence, it is now speculated that the Lenovo Z5s could be powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset. Here is a video commercial that hints superior performance on the Lenovo Z5s.

That Lenovo Z5s poster from yesterday was just misinterpreted and a new poster seems to clarify that.

Earlier today, the manufacturer released a poster that teased Xiaomi’s Mi 8 Lite for its choice of processor. The poster was actually shared first on Weibo by Lenovo’s CEO before it was reposted by the official Weibo account with a caption that teases the Mi 8 Lite for having a Snapdragon 600 series processor.

If Lenovo is teasing the Mi 8 Lite for having a Snapdragon 600 series SoC, that means it isn’t using a 600 series chipset in the Z5s which the Snapdragon 678, assuming it even exists, falls under.

[envira-gallery id=”227368″]

We re-examined the poster that originally said the phone will have a Snapdragon 678 processor and what we deduce is that Lenovo is teasing the phone will come with a processor that belongs to the 600, 700, or 800 series, hence 678.

There are rumors the chipset in the phone is actually the Snapdragon 710 like the Lenovo Z5 Pro but there is no confirmation yet. Other confirmed features of the phone are triple rear cameras and Android Pie pre-installed.

Lenovo Group VP Chang Cheng has already released a poster confirming the phone’s launch on 18th December.

Now, new poster related to the phone’s launch has surfaced online, which reveals that the phone will be running the latest Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box. However, the most interesting revelation is that the Lenovo Z5s will be powered by Snapdragon 678 processor, which is yet to be launched by Qualcomm.

While nothing is known about the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 chipset, we expect it to be a mid-range chipset with a focus on artificial intelligence and photography. It could be a slight upgrade compared to the Snapdragon 675. Given the naming, we expect the chipset to fall between Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 710.

Lenovo has been teasing the smartphone, signifying the letter “S” with Speed, Shoot and Sexy. This suggests that the upcoming device will be a good-looking smartphone that will deliver top-notch performance and stellar photography experience.

As for the rest of the specifications, the smartphone is expected to come with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 2240 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. It will feature an in-display front-facing camera, just like the Samsung Galaxy A8s but its placement will be at the center.

It is also confirmed that the phone will come with triple rear camera sensors along with an LED flash. It is expected to have a camera configuration of 13MP + 5MP + 2MP. On the front side, the phone will come equipped with an 8MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

The phone is also expected to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is currently the trend in the upper mid-range smartphone segment. Further, the device will be powered by a 3,210mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 18W fast charging.

TENAA images, as well as official posters from Lenovo, have revealed the phone will come with a triple camera setup on its rear. If you are eager to know how well the cameras perform, then you will be happy to know Lenovo has released a camera sample that shows just that.

The image was shared on the official Weibo page of the phone manufacturer earlier today. The photo is a close-up image and according to the caption, the picture shows off the zoom feature of one of the sensors. The color reproduction looks good and the skin tone of the subject looks natural.

No one knows the configuration of the cameras but we are sure one of the sensors is a telephoto lens with optical zoom. If we could take a guess, we would say the other two sensors are a wide angle sensor and a depth sensor.

Apart from having three cameras on its back, the Lenovo Z5s will also have a bezel-less display with a small hole close to the top for the front-facing camera. When it launches, it will go head-to-head against Samsung‘s Galaxy A8s and Huawei‘s Nova 4, both which also have a similar display and triple rear cameras and are scheduled to launch this week and next week respectively.

Lenovo also released a new poster that highlights the phone’s triple rear cameras.

However, there was announcement on the smartphone yesterday. Today, the Lenovo Group VP Chang Cheng has released a new poster to confirm that the Lenovo Z5s will be unleashed on Dec. 18. The Lenovo Mobile Weibo account has shared an image to showcase its gradient color appeal and triple rear cameras.

The Lenovo Z5s will be unveiled at the Lenovo’s global headquarters in China on Dec. 18. The launch poster has teased the triple camera setup of the smartphone. The other image reveals the marvelous gradient color glass rear of the phone with vertically arranged triple rear cameras.

The design of the triple camera system resembles with Huawei P20 Pro. There is a gap between the dual camera sensors and the third lens. An LED flash is placed below the triple camera setup. As of this writing, there is no information available on the configurations of the triple lenses.

Not only the rear design of the Lenovo Z5s is interesting, leaked images have revealed that it will be sporting a unique display on the front. Unlike the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4 smartphones that feature in-screen camera hole at the top-left corner of their displays, the Lenovo Z5s will have the same camera hole towards the center at the upper portion of the display.

The letter “S” in Lenovo Z5s signifies its different strengths such as speed, shoot and sexy. Hence, the Z5s will be a good looking smartphone that will deliver topnotch performance and stellar photography experience. Its minimum specs that have surfaced on TENAA reveal that the handset measures 156.7 x 74.5 x 7.8mm and it houses a 6.3-inch display. The device includes a 3,120mAh battery. The TENAA listing of the smartphone is yet to be updated with its full specifications. The Lenovo Z5s has been approved by 3C and MIIIT bodies in China. The smartphone will carry support for 18W fast charging.

Meizu will be debuting the Meizu 16th smartphone on Dec. 5. Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy A8s on Dec, ASUS will be debuting the ZenFone Max Pro M2 on Dec. 11. The Vivo NEX 2 is also speculated to launch on the same date. The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will be announced in China on Dec. Some of the other phones that are rumored to debut this month are Nokia 8.1 and Vivo Y81i. Today, Lenovo has confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on Dec. 6 to unleash the Lenovo Z5s.

Recent reports have revealed that the Lenovo Z5s will be equipped with in-screen camera. However, unlike the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4 that have the camera hole placed on the top-left corner, the Lenovo Z5s will have it towards the corner where the notification bar is.

The backside of the phone features a vertically arranged triple camera module. The smartphone has already received 3C and MIIT certifications in China. Only few details of the smartphone have appeared on TENAA. The handset has a model number of L78071 and it features a 6.3-inch display. It measures 156.7 x 74.5 x 7.8mm and it is packed with a 3,210mAh battery. The other specifications of the Lenovo Z5s are still under the wraps.

However, unlike Samsung and Huawei, Lenovo has put the hole in the center of the phone much like a webcam on a computer. If you are eager to see what it looks like in action, then you are in luck as someone has uploaded a short hands-on video of the phone.

In the video, one can see the Lenovo Z5s has a hole in the center of its display close to the top. The hole is pretty small and is home to the front camera. While there is a bit of bezel at the bottom, there is practically no bezel at the top. The bezels on the sides are also pretty thin or even non-existent.

Apart from the video, Lenovo itself has released another official poster for the phone. And like the one we saw in the morning, it only says the phone will launch next month but doesn’t state the exact day. The caption for the photo also asks fans to guess what the “s” in the phone’s name stands for.

Apart from having a hole in its screen, the Lenovo Z5s will have triple rear cameras whose configuration remains unknown. It also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and packs a 3210mAh battery. We are still waiting for TENAA to release the full specs of the phone.

Samsung first showed off its Infinity-O panels at a conference in San Francisco last month, and since then other OEMs have also come out of the closet with the same design. The latest is Lenovo. The company recently certified a triple camera device at TENAA now called the Lenovo Z5s. According to a blogger from Weibo, the same handset will have an in-screen camera design.

The blogger shared a post of the alleged Lenovo Z5s handset revealing its front today. There’s no way to say if the handset is the Lenovo Z5s itself but a recent teaser of the same device leaves no doubts regarding the same. The only thing different between Lenovo and Huawei’s implementation is the positioning of the camera lens. Lenovo goes for a more symmetrical look while Huawei moves the sensor to a top left position to make it less distracting and noticeable.

As far as other specifications are concerned, the Lenovo Z5s dimensions are phone: 156.7 × 74.5 × 7.8mm as revealed by MIIT. The handset is expected to have a 6.3-inch display and a 3120mAh battery running ZUI based on Android. The triple camera is also pretty obvious but detailed specifications of the individual sensors are not known yet. The handset with model number Lenovo L78071 is also believed to be the very first handsets that will boast a Snapdragon 8150 SoC on board. However, this is more of speculation rather than official info. The handset is thought to be launching next month, possibly on 4 December which is when the next Qualcomm flagship mobile CPU will also debut at an event in Hawaii.

Namely, Lenovo Z5s is in news and has already appeared at TENAA a couple of days ago, and now it has surfaced on 3C and MIIT. The Lenovo’s triple camera device (L78071) carries some high-end specs and is slated for launch in the upcoming few weeks. Today, Lenovo Z5s has appeared on the 3C and MIIT, Chinese certification portals.

Already, there’s plenty of information about the device, that has been stacked up as Lenovo Z20 Pro, but now it seems to be named as Lenovo Z5s. As per the latest listings, it has revealed that the new device will carry a triple camera module on the rear side. It could be the first device to get Snapdragon 8150 access onboard. It is expected to arrive on December 4th, just up next month.

Now we are waiting for some official teasers and confirmation about the device. A couple of days ago, the same device bearing model number L78071 has been spotted at TENAA. At that time we came to know about its design for the first time. It carries triple camera setup with LED flash and a fingerprint scanner on the rear side. In the image, we can see a couple of cameras are integrated into the same module, while the third one is left out.

Other than that we are expecting to see its 6.3-inch display having dimensions of 156.7×74.5×7.8(mm). It carries 3210 mAh battery capacity.

The flagship device is touted to carry Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 chipset. Many leaks and rumors are pointing towards the usage of the latest aka upcoming Qualcomm chipset. There are higher chances that it might be made available for purchase by the end of this year just before holidays. It is expected to be Lenovo’s last flagship device of the year 2018.

We are expecting some more leaks and some official renders and confirmations regarding the launch of Lenovo L78071 aka Z5s.

Apart from the images, there was little info about the phone’s specs.

Some publications already refer to it as the Lenovo P20 Pro because of its similar design to the Huawei P20 Pro which also has the same rear design. However, Lenovo’s VP, Chang Cheng, has revealed that the phone is actually the Lenovo Z5s and not the Lenovo P20 Pro.

The Lenovo Z5s not only has triple rear cameras but also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 6.3-inch screen with a water-drop notch and a 3210mAh battery. Seeing as the Lenovo Z5 Pro isn’t a flagship, there is a possibility the Z5s will also not be a flagship but an upper mid-range phone.

TENAA is yet to release the full specs of the phone but we believe it should become public in a few days while the phone itself may be unveiled in December.
