It’s just a little over one week since Xiaomi‘s MIUI 9 was officially launched and the Beta ROM has only been pushed to just a few models, yet the custom ROM has reportedly found its way into the OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus 3T was announced last year packing a Snapdragon 821 chip as a slight upgrade of the OP3. The ROM in question is an unofficial Patch of the MIUI 9 ROM which was released by developers whose identity we cannot ascertain. But from the screenshot we can guess this emanated from China because the texts are all in Chinese.

The patch was possible as a result of the open source nature of Android ROM and MIUI and the modifications made it possible for the custom UI to run on the OnePlus 3T. There are a couple of screenshots to back the claim that the OnePlus 3T has got a taste of MIUI 9. The screenshots also reveal the version is MIUI 9 7.7.31 Developer ROM, meaning it was last updated on July 31. One of the screenshots is that of the”About Phone” page and the model and its features are clearly seen to belong to the OnePlus 3T (A3010).

Further more, the MIUI 9 Theme can also be seen, as well as the split screen features and a couple of other features of MIUI9 are reportedly available on the phone. According to the developer, the MIUI 9 Bootloader can booth the OnePlus 3T normally but there are still a couple of bugs that are yet to be fixed on the Patch ROM. For those that are interested, the new Patch ROM package will be released on Sunday. But do note that this isn’t an official release and so, will likely contain bugs that can compromise the security of your smartphone. Xiaomi in the near future will likely release the Patch ROM tool for MIUI 9 in order for developers to modify it for other non-Xiaomi models. The tool is available right from MIUI 2.3 to MIUI 8.

The device is supposed to get out in the open within the next 24 hours, going by the teaser. The specs won’t likely be different from the ones already in the market.

We are quite certain this isn’t the Colette edition, if not the Weibo teaser would also have carried Collete’s logo just like it did when the 3T Collete edition was going to launch in Paris. So brace yourselves for a new black colored OnePlus 3T. In the long run, the fans would be the winner in this color war so we just hope it continues. How many of us would like to see Xiaomi smartphones ditching the conventional colors and coming with some new paint jobs? I would but don’t know about you.

Barely two months after OnePlus pushed Android 7.0 Nougat update to users of its Oxygen OS, the company has announced updates that would usher in Android 7.1 .1 for OnePlus 3/3T owners running the OxygenOS. Already, OnePlus 3/3T running the HydrogenOS had gotten updated to Android 7.1 Nougat a few days back.

The updates will bring Android 7.1.1 upgrade and also there is a new Shot on OnePlus wallpaper option. There are also improvements in the gallery such as a new photo editor with watermark and photo straightening has been added as an option. Also, newly added media will now be highlighted in the photos section and image location will be displayed on grid view. There is now the option of grouping media by month and year added and users can now hide folders and individual media.

The upgrade also brings some general bug fixes and some known issues like Android Pay not working on London TFL and Tube has now gotten a solution. Chinese innovative startup OnePlus launched a faster and more capable variant of its OnePlus 3 flagship dubbed OnePlus 3T two months ago. The OnePlus 3T comes with a faster processor as well as a more capable front-facing camera. Meanwhile, the rear camera is the same 16MP sensor with OIS, EIS, and 4K video output as found on the OnePlus except the EIS which is a new addition. That camera has now been put to test in a recent photo shoot organized by Qualcomm in China. The Photo shoot captures various scenery at night and really, the output is just amazing.

The device features a Snapdragon 821 chipset which is said to be 10% faster than the Snapdragon 820 chipset on the OnePlus 3. No doubt, the more powerful chipset would give the OnePlus 3T a more efficient camera even though it features the same rear camera sensor. Apart from the sensor, the device is also revealed to feature a Qualcomm Spectra image signal processor (ISP) which co-ordinates stuff like autofocus, exposure, and white balance for the camera. Just like it did for the OnePlus 3, OnePlus is set to release a Soft Gold color version of its latest OnePlus 3T flagship. The new variant will be unveiled on January 3, 2017 at 3.00 and would go on sale immediately on OnePlus’ official website and on Jingdong (JD.com) simultaneously. The new soft Gold variant still starts at 2699 yuan ($392).

The OnePlus 3T was launched about a month ago in China after its initial unveiling in Europe and was touted as available in two variants, Gunmetal and Soft Gold. However, the OnePlus 3T Soft gold variant wasn’t available when it launched but OnePlus has released a poster announcing the variant will now be available next week.

The OnePlus 3T Soft gold variant add some bit of class and extra sleekness to an already beautiful device. The Weibo post also contains a poster that reveals the company would be celebrating her three (3) year anniversary with activities lined up from December 17 to December 22.

Accordingly, there would be flash sales of the OnePlus 3T on December 17, 20 and 22 and then the large 128GB storage version would be released on December 22. Previously, the OnePlus 3T was announced with just a 64GB storage version but with the coming of a larger storage version, users will have a lot more free space to play with.
