If you’re one of those still looking out for the OPPO Find 9, still hoping OPPO would one day just launch the much anticipated Find 9, then this will make you feel bad. Popular leaster @Kumamoto technology or Kjuma has revealed that OPPO has finally scrapped the Find series along with its N-series, replacing both with the mid-range R series and the A series. He also disclosed that OPPO will release a high-end flagship at the second half of the year.

The OPPO R9 which was launched in 2015 signalled a period of financial breakthrough for the Chinese company.The company’s marketing strategy, coupled with the fast charging technology which the R9 and R9 Plus possessed contributed to their success. This was soon replaced by the R9S and R9S Plus last year and they both continued the success story with amazing results. This may have prompted the company’s decision to halt its flagship Find-series.

We have had quite a number of leaks and rumours surrounding the Find 9 which has been on the radar since last year with rumors claiming it would be launched then. But that did not materialize and until this moment, OPPO is yet to release an official statement concerning the Find or even the N-series. The OPPO N-series on its own part only had the N1, N1 mini and N3 which was released in January 2015. Since then, nothing has been heard about the series. We can’t say for sure if this latest news is true or false until OPPO comes out with a statement on that. So, it is still possible the Find 9 does exist.

Last year, Oppo announced the OPPO N3 with the rotating camera and the OPPO R5, the world’s thinnest smartphone (Now, Vivo X5 Max currently holds this title). Today, we have information about another upcoming OPPO device which recently hit TENAA called the OPPO U3. Thanks to TENAA, we have some major information about this new OPPO smartphone.

TENAA reveals that the OPPO U3 will feature a large 5.9-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It will be powered by an eight-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. This storage can be further expanded via the given MicroSD card slot. The rear camera is of 13MP and comes with 4X optical zoom. Yes, this phone will reportedly feature 4X zoom which makes it even superior to the 3X zoom found on the new ASUS Zenfone ZOOM (ZX550). In fact, the phone will measure just 9mm in thickness which will make it the thinnest 4X optical Zoom smartphone in the market. The ASUS ZenFone ZOOM had a 11.95mm body, which makes it thicker than the OPPO U3. TENAA is usually right about the upcoming phone’s specs, so this could turn out to be true. The front camera is of 5MP and the other body measurements are as follows — 156.8 x 81.8mm. With the optical zoom tech inside and the large 5.9-inch display, the U3 is a bit heavy at 180grams.

The OPPO U3 is capable of recording high quality videos too, thanks to the inbuilt Asahi Kasei AK4961 high performance 32-bit advanced audio codec. This was the same codec used in the ZTE Nubia Z7 smartphone. The company will also reveal a new headset called as the OPPO PM-3 headphones along with the device. The headphone is shown in the pictures below.

Overall, the OPPO U3 comes out as a very attractive device. The specs are top notch and the 4X Zoom in particular will attract a lot of camera enthusiasts. Pricing or release dates are not yet revealed, so we’ll have to wait for a few more weeks for some official details.

MEIZU MX4 PRO

Meizu has incorporated a Samsung Exynos 5430 Octa Core CPU inside its new flagship along with Mali-T628 MP6 GPU and 3GB RAM. So, there’s no doubt that the MX4 Pro will be one of the best smartphones available to buy today.

There are three storage variants to choose from, namely 16GB / 32GB / 64GB. While the smallest storage version will save you a few hundred dollars, note that the device does not come with a MicroSD card slot, so if you like storing a lot of movies, apps and high res pictures on your device, make sure you get atleast the 32GB version.

Even the camera on the MX4 Pro is top of the class. It features a 20.7MP Sony IMX220, f/2.2 camera on the back , which should definitely give you one of the best images captured by an Android device. According to the company, their camera team worked closely with professional photographers to calibrate the rear camera on the device, so color reproduction too should be good.

Finally, coming to the software, you get the new Flyme 4.1 on top of Android 4.4.4 Kikat.

To sum up, Meizu MX4 Pro is truly a Pro version of the MX4 and is currently one of the best Android smartphones that you can get in the market. The device starts at $410 for 16GB, $440 for the 32GB and $510 for the 64GB. One of the most popular smartphones of 2014, Xiaomi Mi4 managed to exceed all expectations when it launched back in July this year.

The device comes with a beautiful design which some claim is inspired from Apple’s iPhone lineup. You get a 5 inch Full HD screen up front, with a solid metal frame and a glossy back cover.

Inside, you get Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Soc with a 2.5GHz Quad Core Krait-400 processor. There’s 3GB RAM onboard along with Adreno 330 GPU which makes sure that the device is capable of heavy multi-tasking.

Another Chinese smartphone which took the world by storm is the ‘One’ from the company called OnePlus. You may have never heard of their name before ‘One’ became popular, but that doesn’t matter as its flagship is currently regarded as one of the best smartphones of 2014.

OnePlus One (OPO) comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel display which translates into 401 pixels per inch. Just like the Mi4, it comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 Quad Core processor clocked at 2.5 Ghz. As for the memory, you have 3GB RAM and 16GB/ 64GB internal storage options. Unfortunately, there’s no MiroSD card slot on the device so you have to be careful while choosing the storage variant.

The 13MP rear camera produces some great pictures, and the 3,100 mAh battery makes sure that the device is up and running till the end of the day.

The phone is well designed and well built like a true flagship and is available in Silk White and Sandstone Black finishes.

OPO is available for just $349  which is a great price for a device with such specifications. Like the Mi4, its available on Oppomart for a discount of $50, so you can get it for just $349.

OPPO N3

OPPO N3 is not just a flagship smartphone, its a remarkable piece of technology. The company is quite famous in China for its well built devices and the latest flagship doesn’t disappoint at all. It comes with top of the line specifications with a beautiful and practical design.

On the front, there’s a 5.5 inch 1080p display, (we would have loved a 2K display given its expensive price tag) which means the screen is more or less like the other competitors available in the market.

Internals too are similar as it comes with a Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5 Ghz and Adreno 330 GPU along with 2GB RAM.

However, you won’t buy this phone for its internals but for the various special features that it brings to the table. For example, OPPO N3 can charge from 0% to 75% in under 30 minutes, thanks to VOOC charging. This coupled with a large 3000 battery makes sure, you don’t have to carry around a charger wherever you go.

Secondly, it does have a MicroSD card slot, which is something that’s absent from many flagships available today.

Then there’s the interesting 16MP Omnivision rotating camera that acts as the rear as well as the front shooter. So, selfie addicts could definitely use this feature for beautiful shots.

Other features include a fingerprint sensor, O-Click 2.0 Bluetooth Remote and special software features that come with Color OS 2.0.

But you get these features at a price, as OPPO N3 is the second costliest flagship that we have covered in the list.

The device is available for pre-order for $654. That’s almost $200 more than the basic version of MX4 Pro and $300 more than both OPO and Mi4.

So why would you pay this much for a Chinese phone? Well, OPPO is a well established brand, now available in a number of international markets. Chinese consumers love OPPO which is why its not surprising to see that it received more than 2 million pre-orders in the first week itself.

ZTE NUBIA Z7

The new Nubia Z7 is yet another costly flagship from a well known Chinese manufacturer. In fact, its the costliest phone that we have covered in this list.

For the $699 price tag, it does have some additional features as compared to the Oppo N3. For example, the 5.5 inch display up front features 2K resolution which means, the phone has a pixel density of over 538 PPI.

Moving on, it has an extra gig of RAM as compared to OPPO N3, but its the same as the 3GB RAM found on the earlier three flagships which were much cheaper than this.

It comes with the same processor as other competitors i.e. Snapdragon 801 with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. Camera too is of 13MP with OIS. There’s a 3,000 mAh battery on board which coupled with the power efficient processor should last an entire day.

Unfortunately, the device is not yet available for purchase and we’ll update the article as soon as it releases worldwide.

SUMMARY

HUAWEI HONOR 6

If you are looking for something cheap yet don’t want to settle for less than a flagship, Huawei Honor 6 is probably your best bet. The company is well known, operates in a number of international market and is known to release affordable and well built devices.

The latest Huawei Honor 6 brings all the standard features you would expect from a flagship device at a price that would only get you a mid range device, had it been an a well known international manufacturer like Samsung or Sony.

But this is Huawei we are talking about so you get an Octa Core HiSilicon Kirin processor clocked at 1.7 Ghz. You have 3GB RAM onboard along with 16/32GB internal storage option, which like the OPPO N3 can be expanded using an external MicroSD card slot.

There’s a 13MP rear camera sensor along with a 5MP front shooter, both capable of taking decent pictures.

Heating may be its biggest issue, but most smartphones these day heat up to some extent, hence we don’t feel this should stop you from buying the device.

Remember, this a 5.0 inch 1080p phone just like the Xiaomi Mi4, so if you don’t like phablets, this is a good option.

LENOVO VIBE Z2 PRO

If you like large devices and by large we mean, even bigger than 5.5 inch phablets like OPO, then you’ll like Lenovo’s VIBE Z2 PRO flagship. It features a large 6 inch 2K screen with a pixel density of 490 PPI. That’s pretty impressive given that the phone is so large that some may even called it a tablet.

The device features a brushed aluminium unibody design which gives it a unique place in the market filled with plastic competitors.

This is yet another Snapdragon 801 device and comes with 3GB RAM onboard along with 32GB internal storage.

IUNI U3

IUNI U3 is one of the best value for money devices that you can get at the moment. The device features a metal body with very thin bezels which makes it look like a premium device.

When it comes to specifications too, the U3 shines well ahead of other competitors. Unlike some of the devices we have mentioned here, like the OPO and Honor 6, U3 comes with a 5.5 inch 2K Quad HD display. This translates into an impressive pixel density of 538 PPI.

The processor is the almost as same as other models in the list i.e. Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3Ghz and 3GB RAM.

HUAWEI ASCEND MATE 7

If you don’t like Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro’s brushed metal finish, then you can go for the new Huawei Mate 7. Its the same size as the Vibe Z2 Pro, but features only 1080p resolution as opposed to 2K on Lenovo. However, still at 390 PPI, the screen is bright and vibrant and should display and images with great clarity.

Huawei went with its own Hisilicon Kirin 925 Octa Core CPU and Mali-T628 GPU. For memory, you have two options 2GB for the 16GB internal memory version and 3GB for the 32GB version. Interestingly, the device does have a MicroSD card which supports cards up to 128GB in size.

It comes with the same Sony Exmor EX214 13Mp rear camera as seen on most other flagships in the list along with a 5MP front camera. Huawei has also made sure that the 6 inch phablet lives for more than a day as it comes with the biggest battery pack in the list, a 4,100 mAh.

However, for the larger battery and the bigger screen, you have to pay around $100 extra than other competitors. You can purchase the device directly from Oppomart for $499.

SUMMARY

Vivo XShot

If you plan to replace your smartphone as your everyday camera, then the new Vivo XShot looks like a good option.

It comes with a 13MP f/1.8 aperture camera with OIS which takes great pictures. The dual tone dual LED flash also makes sure that the color reproduction is also accurate. The front camera too isn’t shabby and at 8MP you can get some great self portraits with it.

Inside, you have a Snapdragon 801 SoC with processor clocked at 2.5Ghz and 3GB RAM on the flagship version but only 2GB on the elite version.

On the front, you have a 5.2 inch screen with 1080p resolution. The battery pack is of 2,600 mAh which should be enough to last for a day with this relatively small screen.

OPPO Find 7

Although its been a while since OPPO announced the Find 7, its still one of the best devices in the market. The device comes with the OPPO brand name, which is of value especially in China due to its great build quality and innovative features. It also comes with the fast charging VOOC feature which can charge the phone 4 times faster than other competitors. With this technology, you get 75% charge from 0% in under 30 minutes.

The other specifications are pretty much what you expect from a top end device. You get a 5.5 inch 2K screen, a 2.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Soc with 3GB RAM, Sony Exmor214 13MP rear camera and 3,000 mAh battery which is removable.

So, if you are looking for a well built device from the OPPO family, the Find 7 will suit you well.

ZOPO 3X

We have seen 11 top chinese phones of 2014 till now and we would like to end it with the cheapest device of the list, the ZOPO 3X. Its the mini version of the flagship, ZOPO ZP999, but don’t be deceived by the name as only the internal storage is smaller and all the rest of the goodies found on the top end flagship makes it to this device.

Surprisingly, it is the first Mediatek Powered handset that is on the list as most others have the Snapdragon 801 SoC onboard. It comes with a  MediaTek MT6595 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz along with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The phone has a memory card slot too, so the low inbuilt storage won’t be a big issue.

On the front, you get a 5.5 inch Full HD screen while on the back lies a 14MP f/2.0 aperture camera. You have a large 2,700 mAh battery too, which should be more than enough for a whole day’s usage.

The best thing about the ZOPO 3X is its pricetag. It is currently available for $299 on Oppomart which is a great price for a device with such specifications. You also get some free goodies like the official leather case and screen protector, which should save you some after purchase cost.

This October, OPPO launched the latest member of its N flagship smartphone series—the OPPO N3. OPPO has made a lot of improvements on this device by adding features such as a motorized rotating camera, the new VOOC charger, a fingerprint sensor, etc. These features make OPPO a force to be reckoned with, and also show that the company is trying to branch out overseas. Here’s the writer’s review of the OPPO N3. First, let’s discuss its specifications.

In the front, the OPPO N3 sports a 5.5-inch 1080p HD touchscreen. It has a 16mp motorized rotating camera, a quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB ROM. Its operating system is the Color OS 2.0.1.

        The OPPO N3’s body is made of aerospace aluminum. It sports a 5.5-inch LTPS touchscreen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Its pixel density is about 403ppi. The quality is very clear and sharp.

       Because the OPPO N3 has a rotating camera, the earphone jack and volume switch are placed on the right side, while the open switch and SIM slots are on the left side. Motorized rotating camera

       The motorized rotating camera is a 16mp camera with dual-flash. It is also integrated with the speaker and sensor.

OPPO N3’s back

       Furthermore, the OPPO N3’s back has a built-in fingerprint sensor. Just press it like a button to unlock your phone. It is very easy and convenient to use. It is also important to point out that it uses the VOOC rapid charger. It can be charged up to 75% in just 30 minutes. 

Motorized rotating camera

        At the launch, people were mostly concerned about the OPPO N3’s motorized rotating camera. How does it work? How long can it be used? How does it help the user? Here, the writer will answer these questions as well as others.

Rotating the camera is quite easy. Just lightly swipe your finger on the screen and the camera will automatically rotate. Furthermore, users can set the camera in different angles using the fingerprint scanner on the back, O-Click, etc.

As for how long the camera can be used, OPPO’s product manager has said that it can be rotated 250,000 times.

Of course, the good thing about a motorized rotating camera is that it has changed the way scenery photos are taken. Now, you can just hold the phone steady and let it take care of the rest. You can now take very good scenic shots with this type of camera.

Camera interface 

Now, that we have talked about the OPPO N3’s new feature, let us talk about its camera interface.

At first, the OPPO N3’s camera interface looks pretty simple. The top left button allows the user to make the camera look forward or backward. The next button turns on the flash. The last one opens the settings menu. The top right button opens the photo album. Below it is the “Shoot” button. Lastly, there is the video camera button.

When you lightly press the “+” button, you can see more camera modes. Just click and install them.

The quality of the outdoor shots is pretty good.

The pixelation is great for photos taken a taken at a long distance. They are not as clear but they are still pretty good. You can still see the outline of the objects clearly.

The camera’s special features

These shots were taken using “Automatic Panorama” mode, which is one of the OPPO N3’s biggest camera features, because of its use of the motorized rotating camera. When you want to take a photo of the entire scenery, just hold the phone in a fixed position and leave the rest to the phone.

This photo was taken using follow focus where you take the shot first and then focus.

Conclusion:

        Now that I have introduced the OPPO N3, everyone should already have a basic understanding of this phone, as well as its very useful and fun rotating camera. The resolution and pixilation are great. It is one device that is worth considering.

On October 29, Chinese cellphone manufacturer OPPO held a launch event in Beijing for its fall releases: The OPPO N3 and R5 which is probably the slimmest cellphone in the world, along with other products.

VOOC Rapid Charger

        The rapid charger was first used in the OPPO Find 7. As the size of the screens of cellphones increase, so does the amount of power consumed. Cellphone battery developers could no longer keep up with the increasing power consumption rate. Rapid chargers have greatly helped solve the problem. In the launch, OPPO showed the upgrades they made to the batteries of their products as well as the chargers. They also showed that their new products will use VOOC.

Pure Image 2.0

 OPPO’s cellphones will also use the Pure Image 2.0 image processor which was first used in the OPPO Find 7.

OPPO N3’s motorized rotating camera 

The main selling points for the OPPO N1 were its big screen and rotating camera. This time, OPPO added a small motor to the N3’s rotating camera allowing it to follow objects as they move.

Fingerprint encryption 

The OPPO N3 comes with a fingerprint reader at the back which can be used to do things such as open the camera and the photo album.

OPPO R5 breaks the record for thinnest cellphone in the world

        The Gionee S5.1 is no longer the slimmest cellphone around. Meet the OPPO R5 which has a thickness of only 4.85mm. It also uses a 1080p display screen (OLED) and IMX 214 camera.

It is best to use a Micro USB if you want to use earphones as this phone may be too thin for a 3.5mm earphone jack.

Prices 

The OPPO N3 costs 3999 RMB (654.21 USD) while the R5 costs 2999 (490.62 USD). They may look expensive but take note that OPPO will send them using traditional channels, not online stores, so do not be surprised that they are so expensive.

Here, we go hands on with OPPO’s latest device, the OPPO N3. This 3999 RMB (654.21 USD) phone has an interesting design featuring a motorized camera and fingerprint scanner.

Appearance 

       In terms of appearance, the OPPO N3 actually looks pretty similar to its predecessor, the N1. Not only did the N1 have such a big screen, the rotating camera also took a lot of space, making it easier for users to hold the phone with one hand. To fix this, the screen size for the N3 was lowered from 5.9 inches to 5.5 inches.

The OPPO N3 also has a notification light bar at the bottom similar to the Sony LT26, although it has been hollowed out, replacing the LED notification light bar commonly used by Android phones.

Is a motorized rotating camera practical?

One of the benefits to having a motorized camera is that it allows the user to hold the phone more easily. Small-handed users of the OPPO N1 and N1 Mini would have to use their other hand to adjust the camera angle.        Another advantage to having a motorized camera is that after you place a camera in a stable position, it can automatically scan the entire landscape. This allows you to take great photos of places such as tall skyscrapers.

As you can see, having a motorized camera can be very helpful. You can also expand the field of view of the camera as well as track down objects. This camera, in particular, is a 16mp camera and has a 1/2.3 sensor. However, users can take 64mp panoramic shots with a camera like this.

How does the fingerprint sensor work? 

The OPPO N3’s fingerprint scanner is not the kind that you have to swipe your finger on to use. You can just press your finger on it like a button.

FPC provide sensor chip, algorithm provided by swedish company Precise Biometrics. Module(scanner), packing solution and related software service provided by Crucial Tech of Korea. I am equity investor.

Users can lock certain apps using the fingerprint scanner so that when you lend your phone to someone, access to certain apps is limited.

Overall, it’s a pretty interesting phone and is worth a look, especially if you are into photography.

However, some netizens think there is something else about the photo. Many netizens point out what appears to be a fingerprint scanner on the back of the OPPO N3. As the photo shows, like many Android phones with fingerprint scanners, the OPPO N3’s fingerprint scanner is located on the back of the cellphone, and like the iPhone 6, you have to press it not rub it with your finger. After the success of the OPPO N1, OPPO is preparing to release their next phone, the OPPO N3, on October 29. Today, the company release a photo of the back of the OPPO N3. The design of the OPPO N3’s rear camera looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3’s camera except that the camera and LED light are laid out horizontally, not vertically like in the Note. It also does not seem to be a dual-color light. From this rendering, it also looks the OPPO N3 sports a metal chassis. Hopefully, we’ll find out more soon.
